People have been telling different version of how Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa met his untimely death in Bayelsa.. Even though it might not change anything, but this was what happened.
His Excellency left kaduna on Saturday in the morning. He was driven to the kaduna airport where he took a chartered flight to Porthacourt. He was accompanied by elder Dauda Tsoho, the Chief Detail, the orderly, the protocol officer and Engr Bala, his Special assistant on politics. From Porthacourt, they took a chopper to okoroba in Bayelsa state for the burial. All the choppers conveying people were using the community's primary school as a landing pad. Immediately after the burial programme, His Excellency, the governor of Bayelsa state who was sitting alongside late PIY invited PIY to fly with him in his chopper to Porthacourt. PIY agreed to but later on told the Governor of Bayelsa that since he came with about four other people, he will wait for the chopper that will convey them back together to Port. Seriake Dickson then left. From there, late PIY , together with Azazi went to the House of Oronto Dauglas. They were in the house when Azazi stood upto go and then invited Governor Yakowa to come with him in his chopper. Yakowa initially said no, explaining that the chopper that will convey him should be coming soon,but later agreed to go with Azazi to Port. Governor Yakowa then asked his police oderly to come with him, but later on asked Dauda Tsoho instead to follow him in Azazi's
chopper left and some few minutes, the chopper that was to convey Governor Patrick Yakowa came and the the protocol officer, the police oderly and the Chief Detail and Engr Bala got on board. The chopper lifted and after about 10 minutes they saw smoke billowing from a distance. They didn't know the source of the smoke but they kept flying. On getting close to Port Hacourt, their pilot got a radio message that the port Hacourt control had lost radio contact with the helicopter that took off before them. There were asked to go and check the smoke they earlier saw. They flew back and dropped lower when they sighted the smoke. They dropped lower and realized that it was indeed a chopper that had crashed. they couldnt land because of they swampy nature of the ground. They radio back to Port and flew back. The first rescue helicopter that came also couldn't land. They had to go back and land somewhere, mobilized some people who know the area and then started the rescue effort. The bodies were later retrievedand taken to port, then Bayelsa. Governor PIY was not seriously burnt as some are saying. His fon was even ringing while his body was being retrieved. The money in his pocket wascompletely untouched by the fire. The impact of the crash must have stunned them, and the fire had a field day when help didn't come immediately due to the swampy natureof the terrain. People have been bandying a lot of conspiracy theories on how and why PIY was killed. I really don't know whether it is true or not. But one thing I know is that God Almighty doesn't make a mistake. If he had wanted to keep PIY alive he would have done so. Our consolation is to take solace in the fact that God knows why he allowed this tragedy to happened at this time when PIY is most needed. May we come out stronger from this tragedy and may God gradually make us to understand why He did what He did in Jesus name. Thank you

It was reported that earlier today, the Secretary to Kaduna State Government Hon. Lawal Samaila Yakawada has tendered his resignation letter along side with five other Commissioners. Subject to approval of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kaduna State Alhaji (Dr.) Mukhtar Ramalan Yero.

The Coalition of Southern Kaduna Youths has accused Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero perpetuating the selection process of a deputy governor of the state to make politicalgain.
The coalition in a letter to Yero, criticized Yero for not showing respect and concern for the people of Southern Kaduna that keep hearing the voice of Jacob but the hands of Esau.
The youths declared, “The unwarranted meddlesomeness and manipulation of the Vice President Namadi Sambo is perplexing because he (Vice president) should be performing at the national stage and not meddling in the politics of the state he is not even popular with the mandate givers.”
Accordingly, the coalition proposed three names for Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero to choose for the deputy governorship slot ofthe state.
The proposed nominees include a former national legal adviser of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Attorney-Genera ­l andcommissioner for Justice in the state, Mr. Mark Jacob Nzama, and the present Special Adviser on Religious Affairs to the late governor, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, as well as Hon Jonathan Asake, a former member of House of Representatives ­.
The coalition in a letter addressed to Yero dated 19th December, 2012 and signed by Dr. Shalulu Bonet and Mr. Vincent Bodam, chairman and Secretary of the coalition respectively stated that any consideration outside their nominations, which is a true reflection of their people, would not be accepted by the youths and the people of Southern Kaduna.
“We shall actively, suddenly and massively oppose and reject anything short of this. Similarly, we shall not accept selection of anybody above the age of 50 to the position. We are resolved to ensure a peaceful co-existence and extend our hands of friendship to the new governor and his administration, ­ if we are seen as equal stakeholders, who worked hard for the victory of the party in 2011.
“As a people, we have suffered from representatives ­, who lack knowledge of our plight and working system despite the quantum of our investment in the democraticprocess and the ruling party since 1999. In view of the foregoing, we request a quick and immediate selection of one of the namespresented herein.
Part of the letter read, “We have noted the heinous manner the politics of selection of the Deputy Governor of the State has taken. The process is shrouded in hypocrisy and complete secrecy without consultation and respect of those the decision will directly affect.”

Says suspects were to bomb VP, others at event in Kaduna
ABUJA — A senior Army officer whose team apprehended some of the alleged masterminds of the explosion that rocked office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Suleja, Niger State, prior to the April 16, 2011 presidential election, Wednesday, narrated before a Federal High Court in Abuja, how the suspects were nabbed while en-route Kaduna to bomb an event he said was attended by the Vice President Namadi Sambo.
The witness whose identity was masked by the Federal Government which is prosecuting six of the alleged members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, told the courtthat after some of the suspects, who he saidhid inside a trailer covered with tarpaulin, were caught, it was discovered that their sponsor had promised each of them an inheritance of 72 virgins in paradise.
The army officer, who mounted the witness box, said two months after the Suleja bomb blast, his team, on July 27, 2011, mounted a road block at Gummel Junction at Kachia, Kaduna, “when we saw a big trailer coming and we saw another car behind the trailer. Surprisingly, immediately we asked the trailer driver to remove his tarpaulin, two of the suspects jumped out.
“The second car also had another suspect who was carrying explosives which we immediately impounded. We also seized four handsets and N26,000 from him. While interrogating them, they said they were coming from Suleja.”
The witness told the court that upon close scrutiny of the seized phones, the team discovered two striking text messages, he said, indicted the accused persons to acts ofterrorism.
He said the third suspect was holding a verylong brown envelope containing Cortex wires, industrial powder and other ingredients for the manufacturing of Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, adding that all the materials were handed over to the State Security Service, SSS, in Kaduna.
The text messages
“Before I handed over the phones to the SSS, I got out two text messages which I willlike to read to the court,” the witness added.
Sequel to approval by presiding Justice Bilkisu Aliyu, the said text messages were read in the open court, yesterday.
One of the said messages read: “Do a deed which Allah by his grace and mercy save youfrom the punishment of the grave and a dangerous bridge with the speed of light and make you pass Serud (sic). Save you from the greatest fear and hell fire. 70 members of your family will marry you 72 virgins in paradise; give you a crown of respect which even the prophet will be impressed with; I say by the Rasud, ‘keep your soul in the green birds of paradise andyou wish to return to the world and die as he died because of the good blessings and reward you encounter after such a noble last deed. I pray for such a noble deed.”
Meantime, the second text message read: “Breast swelling, cap Clous 500 QDS, Tap flag,” which the witness said could be a code for arrangement and detonation of explosives.
He told the court that in the other phones, he saw pictures of the late leader of the Boko Haram sect, Yusuf Mohammed, and another picture of three blind-folded men carrying AK-47 riffles.

The witness further maintained that investigations revealed that the suspects were headed for Kaduna where he said the Vice President, some Northern governors and top government functionaries, attendeda game he said held on July 28, 2011, saying: “We suspect they were going there to cause mayhem.”
Nevertheless, counsel to the suspects, Mr Emeka Okoro, said he could not cross examine the witness since the statement containing most of the allegations he made against the accused persons, was not before the trial court, but with the SSS.
He maintained that he would need it due to the sensitive nature of the case, a request that was granted by Justice Aliyu who adjourned the case till today.
It would be recalled that six suspects, Shuaibu Abubakar, Salisu Ahmed, Umar Babagana-Umar, Mohammed Ali, Musa Adamand Umar Ibrahim, are standing trial over alleged multiple bombings and killings in Suleja, Madalla and its environs.

Specifically, the security agency in a five-count criminal charge it recommended against them, maintained that its undercover investigations revealed that the accused persons participated in various terror attacks that killed 28 persons between March and July
