My main workhorse is currently a 2012 MBP, 16gb RAM with 500GB HDD, core i7 and I fly through tasks.

As a web developer, most of your work would be on the RAM and CPU. Your start up times might be slower than those with blazing SSD but you have the advantage of knowing in advance before your drive fails.

Most of your project files should be on GitHub anyway.

Irrespective of what people say, a genuine HDD is better than a chinko SSD.

I intend to upgrade to a 1tb genuine SSD but I have been slowing down because of the cost vs benefit. Why don't I just get another system, say a 2015 MBP.

a 2012 MBP is a workhorse.

Don't buy 2011. Run away from 2010. If they dash you, dash another person. It is not the same.

Don't buy a 2013 at the same price of a 2015 despite both being Retina. They are not the same.

Buy 2012 and 2013 at similar prices or just go for the 2014/2015.

Don't buy the 2016/2017 if you can avoid it. The keyboards fail.

But sometimes VS code seems to hang even on 8GB laptop

I can conveniently run both Mac and windows like breeze with boot camp windows on Mac self is even faster than normal Windows on HP even with just 4GB I allocated to it.

So I would teach you guys how to use gamepads on Android games that don't support gamepads (any kind even PC 1500 pad) down to PS5 pads

Things needed
Panda app
Octopus app
Gamepad
Adb

Download panda app and octopus app from playstore ,they are paid , you can also download modded version from third party sites

Launch the octopus app , make sure to grant all permissions, once done ,it would lead you to panda app as well , give it all permissions as well
After that you would see two options.
No devices connected and need activation

If you using a wireless pad ,connect it with Bluetooth to the android or if you using wired pad ,use an OTG to connect it to the phone , once connected the no devices connected should show a green icon with a tick icon which shows successful

For the need activation , download panda gamepad activator from Google , put it inside your system /laptop then look for adb inside the folder and run it while your phone is connected on charged mode only to the system , after 10 seconds it should be activated as well ,once done ,the activated shows green tick as well

Click on the add button ,it would show you all your apps and games ,so add a list of games you want to use the pad for , after that grant all permissions and launch the game from inside the panda activator
After you launch the game and it opens ,you would see a panda icon up in the game ,you can assign the pad buttons to the list of action you want them to do in the game

Tested on both android 10 ,11 and 12 (android 12 is tricky to use but I can help with that if you encounter any problem)

I would teach you how to play this game on phone that aren't eligible , I tested on my second phone which is a low budget transision and it worked perfectly.

Download GL tools first , make sure you have the game in your phone
Grant necessary permission to the app
Click on the game that isn't playing
You would see a list of options , scroll down ,you would see Device Info emulation
Click on select from template
You would see list of devices to choose from , choose any device on the list and also toggle the device info and CPU info options.
Click on apply and wait till it finishes
Anytime you want to load the game , load from the app

Please choose a low device in the template option that maybe has a low phone processor that can still run the game
If you choose a very high end device for your phone to emulate , your battery would drain quickly playing the game

So I'm bored and I just decided to write this up

So I flashed a custom ROM recently and I wanted to backup my Udemy and YouTube app and saved download without clearing them up and I wanted to do it offline without data.

Both app data had up to 12GB size due to the size of the videos downloaded in both apps which was another problem as well because I didn't have much space to back that up to so I also wanted a backup that could compress it to the lowest size possible.

It compressed them each to a file of 200MB.
Testing on Android 10, 11 ,12L ,12
Not tested on Android 13 yet but you can try

Tools needed
SD card that you want to copy the data to or any external storage device like PC , hard drive

Apps needed
Migrate Flasher
Migrate GPE

Procedure
Download both of the apps from playstore
Enter the Migrate GPE
Click backup
Grant permission to access storage
Grant superuser access permission as well
Click on the apps you want it to backup and toggle what you want to be backup
Toggle app , data , file apk and click next and proceed
Choose location where you want to backup preferably SD or external storage device since it's the internet storage you want to wipe
Wait for the process to load
Once completed you can now flash your device

After flashing your device ,download migrate Flasher from playstore
Grant all permission and click on the flash Zip in the menu and locate the zip file of the backup and flash it , once flashed it would return the app (installs it automatically) , restore date including saved downloads and install logins as well
Reboot your phone (recommended)
That's all.
