Validated: Nice job CBN. Now increase the capital requirements for the rest to $1.0m. Anyone not able to afford such should merge of be absorbed into the few big ones.
See yourself. Who do u think own those BDCs if not CBN staff themselves?
malcom1X: Bro this guy is not lying. Calabar guys have high libido. Maybe there's something that they take that we need to know or maybe staying close to the river you gast to keep warm at all times
There is no such tribe as "Calabar".
You have the Efiks, Ibibios, Annangs, Ejaghams, Bekwarras, etc.
I went to ColdStone the other day with my better half and we wanted to get our usual cup with three flavours, only to be told that the price was now more than N7,000. Something I used to buy N4,600. Even the cup with one flavour is now N5,000.
What? Absolute nonsense. We just stormed out of the place in anger.
Na so I go buy the regular FANMilk product for N3,700. The one I posted some days back that is now half size.
I have resolved not to eat ice cream more than 4 times a year. I have already done it twice.
Marjoribanks: Exchange rate is not a good judgement of a country's economy.
Nigeria is still the cheapest country to live in, in Sub Saharan Africa.
You won't appreciate Nigeria until you go to other African countries.
Use that money to start a business or go to school of nursing or masters and apply to teach in their Universities! It is better than going to any African country to teach secondary school students.
The bolded is a fact. The issue is the purchasing power of our currency and the salaries are generally low. Minimum wage should not be less than N100,000.
femmoy: I knew from description that you were talking about Ogun state free trade zone.
Worked there Jan 2020 as a production supervisor, got unconfirmed by the managements and advised to leave by end of March. The same month I got interview call of my current job. work from 7am to 7pm for 2 weeks and 7pm to 7am for another 2 weeks. We have an hour break, they started feeding us since the outbreak of the pandemic. Sundays was our only off days. I saw the money but I was lean as a dying patient.
Thank God for taking me out of that hell hole. Most Chinese are demons.
Have you been to a typical factory in China? Those guys work like machines. Unfortunately, our climate cannot fit that kind of work pattern.
Novarisammy2: even garri is no longer affordable. the last time I bought a bucket of garri was around 4k, now it's close to 10k and the price is still rising
One villager's goats have been eating my cassava leaves. I sent her a stern warning that if they stray into my farm again, that is the last she will see them.
She has started to restrict her animals now. No dulling.
History555: I concur. Stop this floating stuff immediately
How? The managed float system previously used requires the CBN to defend the currency by selling dollars.
Where is the dollars? Emefiele took a loan from two investment banks and used 70% of Nigeria's foreign reserves as collateral. Even the recent loan taken from an international finance institution used the entire crude proceeds for a year as collateral.
So where will CBN get dollars to go back to the managed float system?
Una never see anything. Come Barbados where I was for a while and you will see until you are tired of seeing. Skimpy clothes and bikinis even inside supermarkets is just the order of the day. It was a culture shock for me.
As long as you learnt the ropes of the business and the man blessed you at the end, you will make it.
Joseph was sent to prison for 13 years. He was a slave and was falsely accused by his oga's wife. Things were rosy for him in that house until his oga's wife carried the same trouble the daughters of Eve are known to carry around with them everywhere.
But God promoted him and made him prime minister of Egypt, second only to Pharaoh. If it can turn out well for Joseph, the same God can make it right for you. Do not harbour ill-feelings against your oga and his wife.
Missowombo: Dear Family landers. I am here to seek your advice on how to rescue my car from my neighbour. I bought a car, direct from abroad, a very clean and sweet ride, and registered in September, 2023 (5months ago). However, due to the high fuel consumption( V6, 3.5l engine) and the ever unstable fuel price today, I decided to put it up for sale to get a smaller engine capacity. A neighbour expressed interest in buying the car and decided to pay in installment which I agreed. I was also searching for a replacement at this time hoping to use the money realized from the sales to get my preferred ride. My preferred ride prices were shockingly high such that even if I doubled the price I gave to my neighbour it will still not be enough to buy the new ride. Prices rise by the hour these days in Nigeria and I have no hand in this crisis. I returned to my neighbour to inform him that I will not be selling the car anymore due to the present crises in prices of goods in the country. I apologized profusely for every inconvenience and transferred his money back to him. He got angry and said that I must submit the car key and documents to him. He even threatened to send his community and area boys to beat me up and extract the above items.
I came back from work to see my car jacked up, surrounded by 2 other vehicles to prevent the car's exit. For the records, there is no written or signed agreement between him and I concerning this sale. I refunded all his money 1 day after he paid his last installment and kept back my car. I have no hand in Nigeria's current problems. I am pushed to use force here but I am thinking that some initial peaceful resolution could be an option.
Gemma52: Hello everyone, with the current exchange rate, which country will be able to move to legally with 8 million naira? Your suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Talk to me. Get advice from an elder who has been there, done that.
So the ones in banks wearing suits and round tripping dollars at your currency's expense are the good guys, but the man doing the local version to get a few thousand naira to survive is the hardened criminal.
SuperEagles: Make God help us before mother finish selling sons to feed.
In the bible, there was a time a foreign army besieged Samaria, the capital city of Israel for three years. It got so bad, mothers were boiling their children to eat, not sell.
DARLINGTON869: Airline company that is barely surviving and managing to stay afloat. You are saying they should lodge aggrieved passengers in posh hotel. On which available funds?. Be like sey you no know wetin dey sup for this country. Abi you dey Canada?
Oga, that is the standard requirement whenever there is a delay. Any airline that claims it cannot lodge passengers on cancelled flights should not have an operational license.
It has claimed men like Kobe Bryant, miles Munroe and Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, a Thai businessman and the owner of the Leicester City soccer club in the Premier League.
Its safety records in the aviation industry should be one of the worst among flying machines.
Mohammed Zia Ul-Haq, Pakistan's president at the time, DIG John Haruna, Dr John Garang, SPLA chief are among those who perished in helo crashes. The former VP Osinbajo was lucky.
Why store up food in warehouses outside of the market environment and create artificial scarcity so you can maximize profit at the expense of your fellow citizens?
As long as those warehouses were loaded by Street boys, they can always be located.
Remembered those days of "essential commodities" in the late 80's. Every hoarded commodity discovered was auctioned by the military to the general public at specified prices.
Hoarding of food should be designated as TREASON.
Three months into such actions, what was the outcome of that policy? Some of you think you can hoodwink everyone without realizing some of us were very much alive in that era. Infact, my dad's house was an essenco sharing centre for his union members.
