ikeyman00: @@@@

did u bleed ur radiator to get rid of air trapped in the line?

that alone will cause over heating!

yes that was done... but should it be done when the engine is running or not running? i was watching keenly with questions cos i dont want them tampering with something that does not concern heating issues.

sultaan: No part on any car expires I have a picture of a normal gage and you problem might be that you are using only water in your radiator

Sir Sultaan,Thanks for this pix so does it mean that even when it was previously normal at the exact point in your uploaded pix and it goes above that point to about five or more bars above the half mark, inadequate coolant could be the culprit? how much coolant are we talking about? like how many tins of coolant is normal for a radiator cos me i dont understand 50/50 when i cant measure the coolant and water accordingly.
thanks again for the pix dear.

Car Talk / How Do You Know That Your Radiator Is ''expired''? by Stallion77(f): 4:36pm On Jan 28, 2013
I recently experience over heating with my Honda babyboy 1999 and along the line, i was told my gasket was burnt as the water from the radiator was oozing out wen the engine was running... i had that fixed only to discover that the temperature went up again and water was leaking from a pipe, the mechanics said its the AC pipe and i dont use the AC. I had that fixed and just a little drive of less than 2km,the car temperature goes nearly above the middle. I was then told that my single cell radiator has expired and does not work as efficiently as it should and that i need to change it to a double cell radiator and things will normalize...here lies my question, is that really the problem?

Your candid responses would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!
Politics / Jonathan Is Performing - Obasanjo (Naijapundit.com) by Stallion77(f): 10:03am On Jan 21, 2013
The seeming rift between President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo took a dramatic turn yesterday in Abeokuta as the duo showered praises on themselves at a reception organised by the South-West Zone of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in honour of the former president over what they described as their significant contribution to the development of the country.

Former president of Ghana, John Kuffour and the PDP and National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur were among dignitaries who attended the event.

Jonathan and Obasanjo had been reportedly engaged in a war of supremacy over who produces the Board of Trustees (Bot) chairman of the PDP. The conflict between them had also purportedly culminated in the ouster of erstwhile national secretary of the party, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola from the party, with some party members alleging that the decision by the party to speedily obey the court order which sacked Oyinlola was a way of neutralising Obasanjo’s grip on the party.

But eulogising themselves at the event in Abeaokuta yesterday, President Jonathan described Obasanjo as a much admired and highly respected elder statesman whose life is closely tied to the history and evolution of Nigeria, the former president said Jonathan was doing the best so far for Nigerians.

Obasanjo who had in the past few weeks scored Jonathan low in his administration’s handling of the Boko Haram sect and corruption in the country, made a u-turn yesterday when he commended the Jonathan-led administration for doing what was right for the people by addressing the critical sectors of the economy.

On his part, President Jonathan who was represented by Vice-President Namadi Sambo said that it was the administration of Obasanjo that laid the solid foundation for the development of the country through vibrant policies and programmes which the current administration was building on and thanked the former president for his supportive role in the development of the nation.

“The contribution of Baba Has secured for him a special place in the annals of our history. He guided our country through some of the most challenging periods of her history. Indeed there is much to him and his legacy as former president, former chairman of the Board of Trustees of our great party and foremost farmer,”Sambo said.

Assuring Nigerians that his administration was on course in fulfilling its promises and meeting its basic obligations to the people, he called for continued cooperation and understanding to enable it achieve its good intentions and actions.

The president, through his deputy, informed Nigerians of the giant strides his administration has made in revamping the critical sectors of the economy.

According to him, power generation has more than doubled since his assumption of office from 2000mw in 2010 to over 5000mw now, which had resulted in general improvement in power supply across the country, adding that the ten new thermal power plants would on completion, add about 5,000mw to the National Grid and that the completion of construction work of about 4,000km of transmission lines and hundred injection substations across the country would boost power distribution.

He added that the government would continue to improve its generating capacity on a continuous basis in order to meet the country’s Vision 20:2020. This it sought through diversifying its power generation sources.

Dino Melaye's Fans Turn on Him for Politicizing Yakowa Crash Despite Buying 50 Million Car!

Dino Melaye would not soon forget his ordeal in the hands of his twitter followers after he politicized the deaths in a helicopter crash of Kaduna Governor, Patrick Yakowa and ex-National Security Adviser, Gen. Patrick Azazi, who died over the weekend.

The former member of the House of Representative most famous for fighting in the House and allegedly impregnating and denying the paternity if a Nollywood star's child had insensitively tweeted immediately after the crash that "Private jet equals private death, stop the stealing now".

But when his incensed followers reminded him that he had just bought a 50 million Naira Porsche, Melaye changed his tune and tweeted that "Private Porsche equals private effort. Prove otherwise".

Melaye unfortunately did not attempt to prove that those who died either died in a private plane (it was a military helicopter) or that they were thieves!

Politics / President Goodluck Jonathan Approves Restoration Of Revoked Abuja Plots by Stallion77(f): 4:13pm On Dec 11, 2012
President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the immediate restoration of titles to all those whose plots were revoked by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Meanwhile, President Jonathan returned to Abuja Monday after the burial rites of his younger brother, Chief Meni Innocent Jonathan in Otuoke, Bayelsa State at the weekend.

Also, Jonathan congratulated Ghanaian President John Mahama on his victory in last weekend’s presidential elections.

To this end, all plots allocated between the May 17 and 28, 2007 by the Mallam Nasir El’Rufai-led FCT administration but revoked following a resolution reached by the Senate in 2007 have been re-instated.

The approval, according to the FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, was in keeping with overriding public interest and the transformation agenda of the government.

Mohammed, at the weekend said that the revocation of the 3,645 plots of land allocated between May 17 and 28, 2007 in FCT arose from a resolution reached by the Senate in 2007 based on the report by the Senate Committee on FCT that investigated the activities of the El’Rufai-led FCT Minister administration.

Specifically, the Senate had then recommended the withdrawal of 3,645 plots from title holders on ground that they were allocated between May 17 to 29, 2007 when the Federal Executive Council (FEC) was already dissolved.

But, the FCT Mohammed said: “it was however, later discovered and confirmed by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) that the FEC was not dissolved until May 29, 2007 when power was transmitted to the succeeding federal administration.”

The minister stressed that “in view of that discovery and the fact that the implementation of the Senate resolution by the succeeding FCT Administration had inflicted pains on owners of such titles and in many cases resulted in court litigations, the matter was revisited by the Sixth Senate which subsequently withdrew its earlier resolution.”

“Based on the above, the FCT Administration recommended to the President to approve the following steps to be taken immediately:

That all titles revoked as a result of the then Senate resolutions on revoked titles in 2007 are hereby re-instated.

That the beneficiaries of affected titles by the same revocation who have instituted suits against the FCT Administration are hereby advised to immediately withdraw such suits to pave way for amicable resolution.

That all affected plots that have been re-allocated to third parties, which are yet to be developed or attain substantial level of development shall be cancelled and titles regularized in favour of the original allottees; and

That affected allotees whose plots have been substantially developed by third parties with approved building plans granted by the Department of Development Control shall be considered for alternative plots of land.

Mohammed revealed that titles that have been in one way or the other cancelled or revoked by court judgments or Administrative investigations and actions of the FCT Administration shall remain cancelled/revoked.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the President(Media & Publicity ) Dr Reuben Abati, said “ On behalf of the entire Jonathan family, President Jonathan wishes to convey his immense thanks and appreciation to all Nigerians and friends of the country who showed sympathy and solidarity with him and members of his family as they mourned and buried the late Chief Meni Jonathan.

He added “The President wishes to particularly thank former Heads of State, governors, the entire leadership of the National Assembly, foreign Heads of State and Government, Diplomatic Representatives, members of professional and non-governmental organizations and ordinary Nigerians who either traveled to Otuoke for the burial ceremonies or commiserated with the family in other ways.

In a statement by Abati, President Jonathan welcomed President Mahama’s success in securing his people’s mandate for a full term in office, following his assumption of Presidential powers after the death of his predecessor in July 2012, as an endorsement by the Ghanaian electorate of his leadership and his party’s action plan for further socio-economic development and continued consolidation of democracy in the country.

Politics / Boko Haram: Nigeria Prepares For Electronic Border Monitoring by Stallion77(f): 6:07am On Nov 20, 2012
As plans are underway for joint border patrol between Nigeria and Niger republic, the Nigerian government is reported to have concluded plan for an extensive electronic monitoring of her long northern borders just as controversy rages over an alleged execution of captives by Nigerian military in the ongoing war against Boko Haram.

Muslim clerics from five countries including Nigeria have formed a new group with the objective of combating extremist Islamic ideology across the Sahel region at a recent meeting, held in Algiers, the capital of Algeria.

Media gathered from administration source that the electronic monitoring system is an advanced project that will take off in the new fiscal year, to monitor the borders and secure entries used by terrorists and smugglers to infiltrate from the Sahara.

It was learnt that the system will operate through the deployment of electronic surveillance points, alarms and radars to detect infiltration attempts by people and vehicles alongside the launch of intensive aerial operations along the border.

The project will include radar coverage, additional patrols, modern surveillance systems, as well as the possibility of using airborne traffic control and other measures.

The ministry of interior had earlier proposed similar border patrol plan but it was learnt that the new project is an advanced one capable of making the porous border water-tight.

Meanwhile, religious leaders from Algeria, Mali, Niger, Mauritania and Nigeria, gathered this week in Algiers to create the League of the Ulemas of the Sahel, Liberte, reported on Thursday.

Media reported that the initiative aims at co-ordinating the efforts of the Sahel religious scholars to support peace and eradicate extremist ideas.

“Allah encourages us to encourage peace and forbid evil, and there is nothing more blameworthy than terrorism,” Nigerian imam El-Hadj Mohamed Hossein said in Algiers.

It was gathered that Nigeria was represented by four clerics from Northern parts of the country, who were said to have decried infiltration of extremist viewpoints into Nigeria from the Sahara.

Meanwhile, controversy is raging over a video obtained by Reuters purported to show Nigerian troops shooting unarmed captives in broad daylight by the roadside in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri.

Politics / We've Started Dialogue With Boko Haram-fg by Stallion77(f): 8:53am On Nov 13, 2012
The Presidency has confirmed that it has commenced dialogue with members of the violent Islamic sect,Boko Haram. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati told media that the dialogue was however not the type envisaged by Nigerians.

“I can confirm to you that talks are ongoing at the background. But the talks are not the kinds being envisaged by Nigerians. I know that some Nigerians are expecting that a venue should be chosen and a banner will be placed there indicating that the Federal Government is holding dialogue with the group there. That is not the kind of talks we are talking about here. The ongoing talk is a back channel one in which those who know members of the group are talking with them on behalf of the government.”

This admission by the Presidency is quite different from the terms of negotiation which was demanded by the sect a few weeks ago. According to the demands they made then, they insisted that the dialogue must not take place in Nigeria but in Saudi Arabia. They further demanded that, all their members, who were arrested and are under the custody of security agencies must be released immediately, just as their wives and children who were displaced following the crises should be rehabilitated into the society to allow room for the much talked about dialogue with the Federal Government.

They also listed the Nigerian mediators to include Alhaji Shettima Ali Mongonu, General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd), Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Ambassador Gaji Galtimari and Barrister Aisha Wakil and her husband. However, Buhari has since rejected the offer.

Boko Haram has been responsible for the death of hundreds of people since their uprising, with their bombing attacks occurring mostly in Northern states of the country.

Politics / Re: Presidency Intensifies Efforts To Discredit Ribadu Report. by Stallion77(f): 11:37am On Nov 12, 2012
Nigeria is in for another season of contrived controversy now that the Nuhu Ribadu led Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force has delivered its report and the coming of the controversy was expected by the discerning. Reason being that where it not for the executive summons that compelled Malam Ribadu to submit the report (which by the way had been ready since August 2012) Nigerians would have continued to discuss the deliberately leaked report when those who commissioned the report had not even seen it.

Deliberately leaked you may ask? But of course it was deliberately leaked! In Africa we say that if the witch flew at night and the baby died in the morning there is no need for a coroner's inquest.

It is known that Malam Ribadu met with his erstwhile friend Malam Nasir Elrufai for a reconciliatory meeting to mend fences between the duo. Now what happened at that meeting can not be established factually because it was a closed meeting, but what is known is that after that meeting somebody leaked the Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force Report to Reuters.

Now, Sherlock Holmes said, when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable is the truth. While Nigerians where pondering on who must have leaked the report, the leak exposed himself in the following manner.

On Monday the 29th of October 2012, the President ordered the Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force to submit its report. In the morning of the very next day (Monday the 30th of October 2012) Malam Nasir Elrufai released the full unedited copy of the report of the Committee on his personal website, el-rufai.org, within minutes of the report being published on Malam Elrufai's site, the same report was published on Premium Times, a site run by former 234Next journalist. 234Next if you will recall is that paper for which Elrufai famously had an interest. Within hours the report was also on saharareporters.com.

Now it is obvious from this timeline who leaked the report to Reuters, but the question is who leaked the report to Malam Nasir Elrufai, a known antagonist of the Jonathan administration and what was the motive behind this leakage? And then most importantly, why did Elrufai choose to 'officially' leak the report only the day after the President asked to see the report that his government commissioned? Million dollar questions if I may say!

But be that as it may, from the now obviously preconceived loud noises made on Social Media by Elrufai, it is obvious that the agenda was to whip up fuel subsidy like sentiments and get the citizenry roused up against a democratically elected government.

So determined where these agents to use the Ribadu report to bring down the present administration rather than clean the Augean stable that they refused to report the earth shattering news that Boko Haram had nominated Muhammadu Buhari as their mediator for peace talks! Please go to these sites and see for yourself that they blacked out that news item.

Now why would news website notorious for breaking news refuse to break the biggest news of the year? It is obvious that they had instructions from their 'owners' to play up a particular news story.

Now, from meeting with Elrufai, a known antagonist of the administration before the report was submitted, I have it on good authority (and Malam Ribadu can not deny this), that Ribadu met with a rival of President Jonathan who has a predilection for desperately seeking the presidency even if it means betrayal of his boss. Ribadu met this man almost immediately after he presented his report to President Jonathan.

What are the motives for these meetings with antagonists?

Well, again, let us borrow from the famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable is the truth.

These antagonist failed to acknowledge the courage of the President in setting up a committee to purge the oil industry which comprised people outside his sphere of influence. They failed to note that even Nuhu Ribadu testified that the President did not teleguide the committee either directly or via the Minister of Petroleum Resources. Rather they have approached the report with a pre conceived mindset.

The Nuhu Ribadu report covered a period that spanned many years. Most of the suspicious activities in that report occurred while others held sway in the ministry of Petroleum Resources, but all we are hearing is about the incumbent minister and her colleague in the ministry of finance. Why the targeted and selective tar brushing? Discretionary awards were rampant a mere four years ago, why is the name of the particular minister who held sway then not mentioned, I would hate to think that it is because he is from a certain geo-political region, but this is Nigeria where even elders constitute themselves into a forum to push for presidential candidates from their region so anything is possible!

The curious thing about this report is that some of the ills unearthed by Nuhu Ribadu's Committee were happening while he held sway as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC). The Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force Report is as much a self indictment by Malam Ribadu on himself because he is saying that he was either incapable, or unwilling to tackle these ills when he was EFCC Chairman.

And I talked about motives. How about this for motive. About the time of his meeting with Malam Elrufai, the same Elrufai on his twitter profile came out to attack the professional standing of his former colleague when he stated on the 21st of September in a tweet that Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is "nowhere near" Sanusi Lamido Sanusi in intelligence!

Now I know that given that the CBN governor is married to the sister of one of Elrufai's three wives he would have a soft spot for him, but this statement coming around the time of his meeting with Ribadu evidences a motive to bring down the Coordinating Minister of the Economy as a first step in the ultimate plan to bring down the Jonathan administration.

If not, why the mad rush to accuse the current administration of burying the Ribadu Report even before it was submitted? I mean, there were four reports commissioned Including the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) Task Force, Governance and Controls Task Force, the National Refineries Task Force and the Petroleum Revenues Task Force.

The PIB is already before the National Assembly, so it is clear that there is political will to give life to the recommendation of the report, there is already reforms in place in the governmental sector with the most recent reform being the Performance Contract signed between President Jonathan and the Federal Cabinet and between the various ministers and heads of their Departments and Parastatals, and work is ongoing in the reform of our refineries.

So, why pick on the Ribadu Report?

I think the answer can be found in the same reason that the media mouth pieces of these antagonists refused to carry the story about Muhammadu Buhari and the Boko Haram peace talks offer.

It is now clear that the military campaign against Boko Haram by the Joint Task Force as well as the border closures ordered by President Jonathan in January 2012 are working and the noose is tightening around the neck of Boko Haram and those who have gained political traction by blaming the government for the insecurity occasioned by Boko Haram are at a loss and have to hurriedly come up with a new bogeyman to use in demonizing the Jonathan administration hence the desperation to latch on to the Ribadu report.

But they are fighting a losing battle. Malam Nuhu Ribadu himself inadvertently gave out that this report is not the smoking gun they have made it out to be. I will now quote what Ribadu himself said in the letter accompanying his committee's report.

Said Malam Ribadu and the Secretary of the Committee, Olasupo Sasore (SAN) who both signed the report "The data used in this report was presented by various stakeholders who made submissions to the task force in the course of our assignment at various dates which have been disclosed in relevant sections of the report. Due to the time frame of the assignment, some of the data used could not be INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED and the Task Force recommends that the Government should conduct such necessary verifications and reconciliations."

Right here in black and white Ribadu is telling the world that the figures in his report are not factual, they are based on hearsay evidence that has not been corroborated and yet some persons are jumping up and down for joy at these figures.

Nigerians may want to consider the words of Segun Adeniyi who reported that in a discussion with Malam Elrufai after the death of President Yar'adua he complained to him that he, Elrufai, had unfairly vilified Turai Yar'adua to which Elrufai responded that there was nothing like a 'Turai cabal' but he simply made it up to serve a purpose!

But is it really true that the committee did not have enough time to verify the figures? Anybody who has seen the leaked report knows that it is time stamped August 2012, a full two months before it was officially submitted to the President on Friday November the 2nd.

Only a dim wit will believe that the Malam Nuhu Ribadu of the EFCC renown could not have verified figures in two months. Of course he could have if he wanted to. But did he want to verify? Would his report have been as sensational if he had taken time to verify these figures? The obvious answer is no.

Habit is a very difficult thing to break. Between 2002 when he was appointed EFCC Chair and 2008 when he was sent to 'school' by President Yar'adua, the most common complaint against Ribadu by Nigerians was that he rushed to the press to convict people in the media before he was sure of his case. It seems that Ribadu never broke free from that habit!
