There has been a breakthrough in the search for 5G. Samsung said it had successfully tested super-fast fifth-generation (5G) wireless technology that would eventually allow users to download an entire movie in less than 2 seconds. The South Korean giant said the test had witnessed data transmission of more than one gigabyte per second over a distance of two kilometres. The new technology, which will not be ready for the commercial market before 2020 at the earliest, would offer transmitting speeds “up to several hundred times faster” than existing 4G networks, it said in a statement. "The 5G wireless technology will permit users to transmit massive data files including high quality digital movies practically without limitation. As a result, subscribers will be able to enjoy a wide range of services such as 3D movies and games, real-time streaming of ultra high-definition (UHD) content, and remote medical services," the statement said. Samsung said it had found a way to harness millimeter-wave bands which have proved to be a sticking point for the mobile industry to date. The test used 64 antenna elements, which the tech titan said overcame the issue of 'unfavourable propagation characteristics' that have prevented data travelling across long distances using the bands. South Korea already has around 20 million 4G users. http://technology.inquirer.net/25347/samsung-announces-5g-data-breakthrough Source: http://www.stalyfblog.com/2013/05/5g-data-breakthrough-announced-by.html |

The Zamfara State government is planning to ‘’arrange husbands’’ for about 2,000 widows in the state. This was made known by the state Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Hajia Balkisu Bungudu. In May last year, the Kano State government- owned Sharia police (Hisbah Borad), arranged marriages for about 100 out of an estimated 1,000 widows and divorcees in a grand ceremony witnessed by guests and spectators from the state and beyond in a scheme aimed at assisting widows, divorcees and spinsters to get married. * File photo: Second-time brides in Kano However, Bungudu said that as a result of this the state government had already registered 1,998 widows preparatory to marrying them off, adding that the mass wedding would be sponsored by the government. She did not disclose the amount budgeted by the government for the marriage jamboree. The Commissioner who spoke to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital expressed concern over the increase in the number of widows in the state. It was just a few weeks ago that BlackBerry Messenger 7 was in beta, and now we're seeing a finished version roll out to BlackBerry App World. Research in Motion continues to try to sweeten the pot for BlackBerry users There are sometimes I would be chatting, explaining something and I just felt its better explaining by talking instead of typing. Thankfully, BBM 7 has me covered with BBM Voice. It’s available now in BlackBerry App World for devices running BlackBerry 6 OS and higher with support planned for smartphones running the BlackBerry 5 OS early next year. BBM 7 gives you the freedom to choose how you connect with your BBM contacts. It is designed so you can seamlessly switch from a BBM message to a BBM Voice call for free over Wi-Fi. Here are some other great features you’ll love in BBM 7: 1. BBM upgrade notifications – BBM will notify you when there are updates to download straight from within the app 2. BBID Synchronization – your BBM profile, Groups and Contacts are linked to your BlackBerry ID 3. 16 Additional emoticons – even more choice for those times when words just aren’t enough. Can you spot the new ones? But there is a saying that every good thing has its own disadvantages. Here are some issues one might experience when upgrading particularly for Nigerians. 1. BBM 7 requires blackberry ID. Don’t upgrade if you are having issues with your blackberry ID. Make sure your ID is active before you attempt upgrading. You won’t be able to use your BBM till you sort out the ID issue which could be really frustrating. It’s happening to a friend right now. 2. Make sure you back up your contacts both remotely and local backup. 3. Backup feature from BBM is lost in this version, as such, all back up for BBM 7 have to be done with a system and desktop manager. 4. RIM warns that the BBM 7 upgrade may take as long as a day to show up in the store, so don't be disappointed if it's not immediately available; do, however, expect inter-BlackBerry voice calls to get that much cheaper. 5. The voice over wifi is free but one have to connect to a wifi network before making use of the service. One thing I’m asking is how many people have access to free wifi service in Nigeria? We can’t wait to hear what you think. Be sure to leave us a comment here or tweet to @stalyfblog using #BBMVoice. Source: http://www.stalyfblog.com/2012/12/bbm-7-advantages-and-disadvantages.html |

Mod, please front page. She needs as many votes as possible now. Thanks and God bless |
Queen Tobi phillips, remember her? Check her pictures here. www.nairaland.com/1104094/pictures-world-miss-university-nigeria She recently won the World Miss University Nigeria and with that, she is representing Nigeria in korea in the 25th World Miss University "International pageant" 2012. Who is Queen Tobi Phillips? some people might ask. She is a 20 years old 400 level student from the Dept of Marine Sciences, University of Lagos. In 2009 she emerged "Miss MTH" In 2010 she was "Miss Science" and the "1st Runner Up of "Miss Unilag" that same year. In 2011 she emerged "Miss Personality, Sisi Oge" and In 2012 she won the crown as "World Miss University Nigeria" She now sits in mist of 44 other beauty queens from around the world in her quest to bring the crown to Nigeria, as she represents Nigeria in KOREA, but she needs our help to do it. She wants us to view her youtube video as the number of views is the vote. She wins the crown if she has the highest number of views. NB: Do not watch other countries so as not to increase their views. Please view just once a day per phone or computer, viewing over and over in a day reduces votes! Please share with your friends and family by rbc on BBM, sharing on facebook, twitter and all social networks. We can do this again for her and for Nigeria. Thanks for the Love!! #teamNIGERIA. I personally think blackberry is nt an application phone. So I see no need for all this Apps. Even if you give them free, installing them will just freeze and hang your phone. I still like my Touch 2 bro |
I'm just been curious here, Under the carpet now right? Or am I the one not informed?

Apple will be forced to represent itself at a Dispute Tribunal in New Zealand next month after a local marketing specialist took advantage of a misprice on the Apple.com website and ordered products worth as much as $1600 for just $35, only to have it cancelled after some of it had been dispatched. TVNZ reports that Adam Crouchley, a man residing in the Waikato region on New Zealand's northern island, came across heavily discounted products on Apple's website (which is served by the company's Australian arm) on October 10. Recognising that some cases were reduced from $89 to 83 cents (and other various deals/steals), he asked an online Apple representative if the prices were genuine, and the man — named Lou — allegedly confirmed they were. Armed with that knowledge, Crouchley racked-up an order costing $35, which was actually worth around $1600, captialising on Apple's errant pricing. "I was pretty happy with myself then," he told TVNZ. After placing the order, Crouchley received shipping notifications for some goods, email confirmations and his credit card was charged. A couple of days passed and Apple recognised its mistake, cancelling part of the order, but apparently agreed to honor the products that had already shipped. The lawsuit appears to have come about after Apple managed to intercept the courier package and refunded his money, despite its call center committing to part of the order. TVNZ explains how the case lies now and offers a few choice quotes: After seeking legal advice he filed a claim with the Disputes Tribunal, and received a date for his hearing at Te Awamutu District Court on Monday last week. "I'm a bit nervous about it." "I'd imagine they'd probably want to settle before we get to that date." "They may want to prove a point and show up but it can't go too wrong against me." He said he used a lot of Apple gear in his business and just wanted to get what he paid for at the prices advertised. $35 for $1600 worth of products — why didn't this happen when the iPad mini went on sale?
