No, it's not a noble organization. It's a french control apparatus for sh*thole countries to listen to. There's no european country that listens to or even checks what the IMF is saying. East asian countries don't. The Middle east has stopped. It's only the yeye african brain that believes there is an organization they were not a part of creating that is actively trying to help them compete with the countries that created it. Because African countries don't know what a country is, and don't bellieve the human brain is capable of competiton and strategy.

I cannot imagine an American hearing that the president listened to the IMF's advice or is checking IMF information. It's specifically for slave states. You think it's noble because you're Nigerian and Nigeria is like a goat among nations
what is their indebtedness level compared to the shîtholes third world countries?
What is their per capita GDP?
I can see you are an agent of a failed system looking to make a victim of the very people who ruined us and victimized those who tried to save us. You conveniently avoided the internal issues that makes a mockery of IMF advises and choose to attack them blindly. IMF has never ruined any nation anywhere. It is a case of political will to move forward lacking and chaotic mindset of self over collective interest.

Your imaginative power is a product of your heart so stop judging IMF with your imagination.

IMF only talks to countries it sees as rubbish. I have lived in the Us for most of my life and was born here. To date I have not heard IMF comment on 1 thing that happens here. If IMF is talking about you, you're being insulted.
No, IMF Is a noble organisation. They tell you what you should do. It is up to you to do it properly.
Did they force us to renovate 100 boreholes with N1.2B?
To be stoning devils with billions? To allow looting of the public funds? To cripple refineries? To turn a blind eye to terrorists? To pay unproductive workers unconditionally? To build useless project at inflated cost? Allow vandalism of state infrastructures? Theft of resources? To allow trade unions of intl buyers RIP farmers?
They only show you the way forward, the political will to tow that path is up to you and not them. The USA too is indebted.

If they exports refined crude, fine. That's because inflow of dollar/forex will increase supply and relax the demand from Dangote himself. Two forces moving in two directions to create a double sided Naira strengthening effect.

Commonsensical thing to do if boycotted locally but a boycott is only possible if they getting it cheaper elsewhere and that could mean Dangote going well above intl market prices OR he refuses to leave the part of the old part of the cost component that goes to intl movement of crude/petrol in the old arrangement.

Teenaira:

I think you are right in your thinking. We must start looking at adding value to natural resources and raw materials to derive real values. However, his proposal looks good too. VAT is purely a consumption tax so, the more you consume, the more you pay. Who are the big consumers ? Obviously the rich and unfortunately a lot of them may not be paying personal income tax or they may have a means of playing around with Personal Income tax. So if the recommendation is implemented, we might end up taxing the rich more which is quite good and then reduce the tax burden on the middle class and low income earners. Even corporate tax is recommended to go down. The real challenge is informal taxes on the poor and corporate bodies. How is government going to get these guys to stop their nefarious activity which has been a part of us for ages ?
VAT we have here is largely down to buying and selling. That's akin to taxing people for survival and not prosperity.

Before now, Nigerians have lamented the lack of indigenous refineries and attributed the high cost of petrol, diesel and gas to it.

Thankfully, Dangote Refinery came to be. I read that it can only sell to NNPC. That means NNPC is the sole buyer.

And boom, NNPC is selling fuel at over #800.

What is the fate of a common man?
What is the fate of salary earners like teachers(I'm a teacher cry )
What is the fate of SME's?

Where do we go from here?

Despite all the legit side hustles, the bills keep pilling up.

Let God's will be done

The fate of SMEs, salary earners like teachers etc should remain the same if NNPC will be honest enough to buy from dangote6 at same price they were buying from other foreign refineries they sold crude to at intl price. You sell to Dangote at $2pb-$4pb above intl price but want Dangote to sell directly to Nigerians at half the price you buy petrol, diesel from foreign refinery. Go and sleep.
Politics / Re: Dangote Refinery A Blessing Or A Curse? by Standing5(m): 11:45am On Sep 03
A blessing that looks a curse due to lies of politicians for decades that we are rich, a giant, and have more money than we cannot exhaust.

That refinery employes mostly Nigerian unlike the ones we current buy from. The profit from that refinery will most likely build another employment-creating industry unlike the house owners in Dubai and London who loot us. That refinery will leave some byproducts that will go into fertilizers, plastic and cosmetics production thereby creating more industries.
Only God can reward Dangote and not one useless tax waiver.

Textbook stunts. In a nation where value addition is almost alien to the system, someone is talking about raising value added taxes. People can barely afford to add value to what they cultivate or manage to produce.

We drink our cow milk as nunu with no value added. Take cocoa as powder with little value added. Eat corn cooked with little value. Export cocoa and import value added end products. Export crude and import value heavy petrol n diesel. What more can I say?

Family / Re: I'm Contemplating Divorce After Two Years by Standing5(m): 11:24am On Sep 03
Successtube:
I never thought I’d find myself contemplating divorce just two years into my marriage. As a bachelor, I’d look at couples splitting up and wonder how they ended up there. Didn’t they date and get to know each other first? Didn’t they see the signs? And yet, here I am, standing on the brink of making the same decision. I dated my wife for a year and three months before we got married, and I thought I knew her. But I was wrong. She lied and pretended to be someone she wasn’t. Now, I’m starting to see who she truly is, and it’s tearing me apart.

Immediately after our wedding, I noticed changes in her that hadn’t been there before. One month in, we were not having sex like any newly married couple would. Every time I tried to be intimate, she’d have some excuse—a headache, feeling tired, or being stressed from work. I tried to be patient, thinking it was just a phase. But it didn’t end. When I finally asked her what was wrong, she bluntly told me she didn’t like sex. I was shocked. How could she not like sex? We had been intimate enough times while dating for me to believe otherwise.

“How can we have children if we don’t have sex?” I asked, trying to keep my frustration in check. Her response was indifferent, almost as if it didn’t matter. From then on, she’d sometimes only have sex with me during her ovulation period, like it was a chore to check off her list. It went on like this for over eight months, and I felt more and more disconnected. I felt unwanted, unloved. Every attempt to bridge the gap between us only seemed to widen it.

But the cracks didn’t just stop there. Through a relative of mine, I managed to get her a job that paid her 300,000 Naira monthly. She seemed happy, and I was glad I could help. Then, fate dealt me a blow—I lost my job. After months of searching, I managed to find another one, but it paid only 120,000 Naira a month. I couldn’t afford to stay home, so I took it, thinking it would just be temporary until I found something better.

My 120,000 Naira salary barely covers our expenses. I take care of the rent, food, bills, and still fuel my car to get to work. The one that hit me hardest was when our rent increased to 700,000 Naira around the same time my car’s engine gave out, needing another 500,000 Naira to repair. I felt the walls closing in on me. I was struggling, juggling all these financial burdens alone. I turned to my wife, thinking she’d step up and help. After all, she was earning more than double what I was. But all she could offer was 50,000 Naira.

I was speechless. She looked at me and said it was a man's duty to cater to his family, and she could only "assist." Her words felt like a slap. Here I was, drowning under the weight of our expenses, and she was holding back. I had to sell one of the lands I’d bought back in my bachelor days to cover the bills. I never thought I’d be in a position where I had to sell my hard-earned property just to survive while my wife, who I had helped get a better-paying job, stood by and watched.

The emptiness gnawed at me until I reached out to someone who had once filled a different kind of void in my life—my ex. We had broken up years ago because of distance when she moved to London for her studies. But we never really ended things on bad terms. There was always a "what if" lingering between us. Now, in my loneliness, that "what if" turned into late-night conversations, laughter, and the kind of warmth I hadn’t felt in a long time. I sneak out every now and then to be with her. I know it’s wrong. I know cheating is not the answer, but I felt like I was drowning, and she was the only one who could save me. With her, I felt alive again, seen, and heard. Things quickly escalated, and before I knew it, I was back in her arms. It felt like a betrayal of my marriage vows, but at the same time, it felt like the only way to reclaim a part of myself that had been lost.

I never imagined I’d be contemplating divorce, but here I am. I want to marry my ex. I want a fresh start, a chance to feel loved again. I don’t know if I can continue in a marriage where I feel more like a burden than a partner. Maybe it’s time to face the harsh truth: some people change, and some people never really were who they claimed to be. Maybe it’s time for me to choose my own happiness, to take a leap and start over.

Don't make the same mistake I made. Study your partner thoroughly before to married, don't rush!
You are deeply confused.
You said you thought you understood her well enough before marriage in the opening paragraphs. Then in the closing paragraph, you said others should study their partners thoroughly. That means you are recommending what failed you to others. You sound like AI.
