trutharena:
They want to make Dangote sell at a loss.
Knowing that petrol cost more from refineries around the globe, they want to secure it cheap irrespective of whether NNPCL is the importer so turned to arguably the next major source and resort to rough tactics of poisoning the minds of Nigerians.
Politics / Re: Bandits Kill 13 Farmers In Niger State by Standing5(m): 4:07pm On Aug 22
Yet these so called bandits remain elusive to law enforcement agents. Nigeria is a crime in motion. Not even the recent hunger protest could turn the heart of the govt guys to go after these monsters.
Someone was saying the protests have inspired leaders to start listening to the people. That was a big fat lie.

Politics / Re: Dangote Refinery Taking Less American Crude by Standing5(m): 9:17am On Aug 22
Better for all. Imagine situation where we farm yam, take it to Cyprus in Europe to process and pound it, go to England to buy microwave oven and then to Malta to package before bring them all back to eat hot pounded yam.
Now someone decides to start pounding yam in huge volume locally to save forex and employ local hands, but the pounded yam importers are angry. They mismanaged the govt pounding machines and tell us they cannot be fixed forever but are always eager for govt to do TurnAroundMaintainance so they can further eat fat from lack of processed yams or pounded yam.

God bless Dangote.

Politics / Suggestion: Referendum Should Be Held For Projects And Debts In Africa by Standing5(m): 6:16pm On Aug 21
Seem the masses have no control over how debt that affects them are incurred and the kind of projects executed with the debts in Africa.
I suggest there be Referendum to determine if debt be incurred and for the projects.
Looking around africa, we see projects with little impact being executed with huge debts that becomes huge repayment burden to all.

Before any major debt is incurred and major project embarked upon, the wider populace be allowed to vote whether the project is worth it and should be done or not.

Family / Re: Someone Should Pls Explain This Picture Story. by Standing5(m): 8:55am On Aug 21
madridguy:
1. My own interpretation simply means, the father as the head of the family doing everything possible for his family ( wife and children ) to be happy.

2. A father protecting his family, putting his own head down for the safety of his family. i.e, if anyone trying to attack a family, the father will be the one to receive the bullet for his family.

To cap it all, na all this sacrifice dey make man die quick.
The father(Tinubu) is indeed sacrificing the children (poor masses) as we can all see.

The picture shows a hammer applying economic pressure to humans(nails) who instead of yielding by going into the wood(harsh economic conditions) are being disfigured (hunger/ malnutrition). Yet the wicked hammer refuses to stop hitting.

Politics / With Under-recovery Of 50%, Why Do Marketers Want Dangote To Sell At N600? by Standing5(m): 8:50am On Aug 21
NNPCL says there is under recovery that brings petrol pump prices much lower than actual landing cost but marketers are harassing Dangote and poisoning the mind of the masses with hopes of N600/litre of petrol.

Why has the NNPCL kept silent all along?

Nigeria is a strange place my people.

Out refineries can work in one month if the canal want it to.
With the way things are, even if it manages to work, they can always underreport the true level of production and divert the rest claiming that the plant are old and thus inefficient. The solution is to sack every living thing in those refinery.

Politics / Going by Naira Defence, Did Nigeria Ever Merited Africa's Largest Economy Tag? by Standing5(m): 3:57pm On Jul 22
Doing simple maths with our propped up Naira value then and now, we see a Naira that was supported to exchange for around N450 artificially sharply move to around N1550 after floating.

The above means we magnified our actual size by around 3.5 times all the while we were claiming to be the biggest in Africa. We weren't even in the top 5 in Africa.

Saying we were once Africa's biggest economy was very inaccurate. All the time the average Nigerian was reported to be surviving on around $2/day, it was actually around $0.55/day without the exchange rate altering Naira defence in place.

I wonder what Nairalanders think.

Politics / Re: Peter Obi Talks About The Economy by Standing5(m): 3:49pm On Jul 22
The idea of a big economy was rigged.

You take dollar from crude sales and forcefully use it to bring naira to a dollar rate to N450 when same Naira could have gone for around N1600 it currently is going for. That means we expanded the value of our economy by 3.5 and were never really Africa's largest economy or even in the top 5. Obi is impressing only some dull brain in fixed deposit of political loyalty.

Politics / Re: Why Can't FG Fix Refineries And Sideline Dangote? - Agbakoba by Standing5(m): 1:59pm On Jul 22
Exactly. Fix them and end the idea of monopoly on the spot. But they are liars who wont do what they are suppose to because they are the beneficiaries of the comatose refineries.

“Of course, he also wants monopoly because if they don’t import now and there is no other local source of production, he will total monopoly and can dictate the price. That is really frightening”.

“We are in a state of emergency. The cost of living in Nigeria now is too high. Anything that can be done to bring down the cost of living will calm the mood of the people. The suffering is just too much”.
Suddenly they realize there is hardship when opportune to make a scapegoat out of a businessman.
Why not fix the refineries under you instead of poking nose into private affair.
If Dangote cant get crude, where will public refineries get any to refine if the manage to work?
Politics / Re: Constitution Empowers FG To Take Over Dangote Refinery – Sagay by Standing5(m): 12:11pm On Jul 22
Sheuns:
Someone invested his money into a venture and you expect him not to think of making profits?

Why can’t Mr. Sagay invest his money into garri production and sell at 300 naira a paint to help the masses.

The government put the masses in a mess and you expect a business man to come clear the mess he is also experiencing as well?

If the government can pay subsidy on imported fuel, why not allow Dangote refinery refine crude and pay him that subsidy instead. At least the money remains in the country.
They forgot that the govt have four refineries under them that can cancel out any perceived monopoly from Dangote. This whole desperation is driven by two things. Greed of those in power for personal gain and Need to offset the financial pressure they find the system in.
