eGuerrilla: Your understanding here is completely flawed.
This not simply an issue of marriage law but, rather, more to do with rights of children.
Do I take it you are one of those who considers the later a matter of little consequence?
Everyday I see children hawking in streets doing manual labour and other adult responsibilities. Everyday they are raped murdered hit by moving vehicle etc and now this marriage law.

All these are as a result of poverty and if we must change Nigeria we must fight corruption and poverty and make the society a better place . That's more important
Politics › Re: Senator Ahmed Yerima Replies His Critics by stanech: 12:01pm On Jul 21, 2013
babylolaroy: yu can imagine. Nigeria has countless problems and am sure child marriage isnt one of it..
Exactly my point child marriage has been there the north. It is not in the south and no sane man in the south can allow it.

If we think we can stop d north from practicing it we dey waste time

My take is if a man is so foolish toi give his/her child out for marriage na him sabi..

The way we dey shout the matter like say them dey force us to give our daughter out...
Politics › Re: Senator Ahmed Yerima Replies His Critics by stanech: 11:54am On Jul 21, 2013
eGuerrilla: We are no longer living in medieval times where there was no place for childhood.

Any sane society must enact laws to protect the weak.
But how do u explain this to an aboki in d north? That's their life. In hausa quaters here in asaba some 13 years old are pregnant. Trust me this protest is a waste of time.

And I blive they are using it to distract us from the main problems including them awarding some life pensiion wen the country is almost bankrupt

That's what I mean bro
Politics › Re: Senator Ahmed Yerima Replies His Critics by stanech: 11:49am On Jul 21, 2013
dozzybaba: My friend what you are saying amounts to defeatism and very sickening. Somebody seat down somewhere in Abuja and a retrogressive, outrageous, pungent and toxic law for you, your family and your generations unborn, and you care less? When your children's children begin to curse you in your grave for doing nothing. I wonder if posterity will let you rest in peace.
I will not give my child out and I will not marry a kid. Na by force?

What really affect us more is those fools stealing our money that's what we shoud be worried about. Not some stupid marriage law we can do nothing about
Politics › Re: Senator Ahmed Yerima Replies His Critics by stanech: 11:35am On Jul 21, 2013
Fight corruption leave who wan marry 2 years old mk e marry
Politics › Re: Protest Against Child Marriage To Hold Today In Lagos,Abuja And Other States by stanech: 10:23am On Jul 21, 2013
I wish we could raise our voice againt corruption like this. But no we chose to look the other way while people suffer due to bad leaders.

Come to think of it if Nigerians have zero tolerance for corruption people like Yerima wouldn't be in the NHA ....

If una like make una go moon go complain una dey waste time.
if the child is ok with it? Question is did u actually think about this before you typed? Do you think the child has a say in this? And btw, since this is a bill,do you really think the parent has a choice either?
If a girl says she doesn't want to marry nobody should force her..

Parents should know that it is wrong to hand over their underage child for marriage

Matured men should know that they are not suppose to marry underage girls.

But if these people decide to live a barbaric life and choose not to know the right thing to do oya make them do na. Na their life. I will not give my underage daughter for marriage and I will not marry an underage girl but if a man thinks that he wants to I will not stand on his way that's his life have better things to do...

Did you just realize that this evil pratice has been going on in this country? Especially in the north?

If a foolish man and a foolish woman decide to give their 5yrs old daughter to a 45 years old man how that one take concern me? Abegmake una channel una vex to another place otherwise una dey waste time

Politics › Re: Massive Protest To Hold Today In Lagos, abuja, Other States Over Child Bridal Law by stanech: 10:09am On Jul 20, 2013
My question for you guys ..

1. Do you not know that child marriage has always been arround?

2. If child marriage is a social issue don't you think that poverty will help spread this evil?

3. Do you think that if this is made a criminal offence in Nigeria that people like yerima would still do it and walk free

4. Is it not better that we hold a rally against our senators for making life harder for the masses rather than some stupid laws.

Mind you with poverty arround people will not even know there is even a law against child marriage and will still give innocent children out for a few thousand. So the enemy here is poverty.
Politics › Re: Massive Protest To Hold Today In Lagos, abuja, Other States Over Child Bridal Law by stanech: 9:58am On Jul 20, 2013
Chillisauce: If you don't see anything wrong with this, then am sure you are a certified pedophile .

When you start having kids, then you can talk, till then shut and zip it
Senators dey there they pass bill you dey here dey make noise.

Read my posts again. All I'm saying is that if there should be any protest it should be against bad governance and corruption those are the main problems in naija not child marriage law. MInd you child marriage dey exist for nigeria before now especially in the north they only just want to pass it into law. I am not a peodo and will vote against it in the senate but then again don't you think we should rally againt these senators for them to reduce the amount they use in running the govt and make laws that will make life better for Nigerians?
Politics › Re: Massive Protest To Hold Today In Lagos, abuja, Other States Over Child Bridal Law by stanech: 9:49am On Jul 20, 2013
smartchoice: For peace their must be respect for the rights of all including that your daughter you're planning to sell to a Yarima!
We must eschew violent acts including the psychological violence and trauma you're planning to impose on that your underage daughter!
For peace people must be enabled to reach their full human potential including that your underage daughter that you're planning to condemn to be intimate invasion of her vagina by anacondas!
.I have made my point and I see you don't have anything to say so bye bye.. I no go talk to you again since you no get point to make na only insult and daughter this daughter that oya Go hit your head for wall. Na only for nairaland here you go make noice if you dear protest? Well I trust mopol...

FOLYKAZE: You are a complete daft......so where is the child's right when parent like you makes a stupid decision without the child consent.?
Please make your point without the insult sometimes it will make you a better person..

You don't even know me and u call me a parent na wah for you

Did I hear you say child consent, what does a child know? I am not in support of this bill but then again muslims up north has been into this act from the start.

And then again I still think there are more important problems that we should tackle

It is like the gay stuff I won't support but I won't condemn its a free workd oga

SLIDE waxie: how is he a fool? He made a valid point.

Some people are crowned with religion, and their religion supports it. So, whether the law is passed or not, no one will be forced to give out his daughter unless by volition.

But we all knw this bill won't survive. Just like the gay rights didn't. There are still more sane people in Nigeria
Thank You ohh

P.s I am not in support of these senators. But there are better issues on ground that we should takle first. Child marraiage na today?
Politics › Re: Massive Protest To Hold Today In Lagos, abuja, Other States Over Child Bridal Law by stanech: 9:18am On Jul 20, 2013
smartchoice: Your senators spoke not mine! That means the state can't protect children from s.exual vandalism after working assiduously towards impoverishing the parents! And here you are clapping and rejoicing over that!
First they are senators of the FRN and I suppose you are a Nigerian,
Secondly, The state have never protected them from the beginning because child marriages has been arround and was only made news when a senator attempted it so why the double standard.
Lastly we should fight to reduce poverty rather than make much noise about this stupid marriage laws...
Politics › Re: Massive Protest To Hold Today In Lagos, abuja, Other States Over Child Bridal Law by stanech: 9:11am On Jul 20, 2013
mekaboy: You don't understand the economic situation of the pple. With the level and poverty and hunger, with jst a few thousands a lot of families especially in the north will give up their daughters at a tender age.
.

That's the point I am trying to make. In this country we neglet the important things and run after shadows. We should try our best to reduce the level of poverty in the country rather than run after some stupid marriage law.
Read sometime ago that a place in ibadan u get sex for 100naira we should protest that these senators are wasteful and using our money to sign stupid laws rather than improve the life of the people. Is it because the issue was brought up recently in the senate? This barbaric acts has been arround as far as I can remember Come to hausa quaters in Asaba and see 8years old girls being brought in as bride. So channel your grieviances properly. We need good governance first.

All I am saying is that if the parent and the child is ok with it then who am I to tell a full grown man how to live his/her life.
We should learn to do the right things in this country. Protest my foot. One gunshut from mobile police now una go begin run..

Nairaland !!! Someone just deleted my post so u can't say my mind again. And u will be complaining saying you want justice. The world is not fair etc. But the truth remains that if they want to protest it should be about the senators stealing and giving life pension to themseleves not some stupid marriage law. I will not allow anyone near my kid or my relation but I still will not stop anyone who wants his/her kid to be exploited na him sabi.... But what I am against is when people take children against their will or the parents will. Na my own point of view be that ooo
Politics › Re: Massive Protest To Hold Today In Lagos, abuja, Other States Over Child Bridal Law by stanech: 8:10am On Jul 20, 2013
I don't see why we should make a big deal about this. Anyone who wants to give his/her child out @ a very tender age should do that and anyone who doesn't want to shouldn't. Kini big deal.
