With all the sincerety that this mortal can muster;
I look forward to the day that we'll all have ultrahighbandwidth connections in our homes. . .

And Ed Boon and co. have released a realtime "vs" version of MK. . .

So that you can all put your gamepads where your mouths are.

GamingRe: What Is Your Mortal Kombat Best Player. by Stanozcom(m): 11:25am On Feb 20, 2008
Tope, I am very very grateful to you for starting this wonderful thread!
I've been an MK fan since I was a little boy.  It was because of Eddie Boon and John Tobias that I even studied Computer Science in the very first place!  smiley

I like Rayden the best.
Why?
Well, basically because when I'm controlling him NO PLAYER ON PLANET EARTH CAN BEAT HIM, that's why.
That's an open challenge.  I dare all of you players out there.
If I've never boasted about anything; I'm boasting about this.
Nobody can beat my Rayden!

Ritchboi,
Yes.  People still play MK.
Yes.  Some of the best programmers on planet earth are still busy from dawn to dusk improving MK with new and better codes, graphics and concepts.
Yes; God made man in his own image and likeness.
Man made Mortal Kombat.

Hey, Sniperwolf!  I take that very very personally!
You have insulted the God of Thunder.
(I'm going to ThunderClap that a**!)
You're the best player, you say?
Do you want me to come over to AJ?
Omo, I no run!
Make we try am?
Or should I just let Mdsocks do it for me?
Nna, take time o!

Gamine,
Rayden doesn't need cheats to humiliate you -- whichever player you use!
If you're going to cheat; desist from using Rayden!
Use one of those other weaklings in the game -- but stay away from Rayden.
Period!

Oyb,
Jade is a p***y.
Face me.
(I know you've already figured out exactly what it is that I'm going to do with that stick you're holding!
Ha!)

Kempest,
Yes, the unmasked Subzero is goodlooking.
He won't be looking good when I'm through with him, I can assure you of that.
Which version?  Which console?

Showbobo,
Learn to use Rayden.
You haven't even started to play MK.
Shio!

Migines!
You're my man!
You've used the Thunder God on MK4?
Which console?  (I'm guessing PC.)
He's the best.
When I used to play that; I used to be airborne from the beginning to the end of the match.
Nobody can stand that kind of action.
I'm the bestest of the bests.
Believe, friend!

Ravenzord,
That Kwanshi guys was a badly developed character.
He's small potatoes.
Block his stump -- and send him back where he came from.
Or block; and then show him the wrath of a Combo-King!
Who you using anyway? Huh?

Iice,
You're a king, King.
Raiden is the best.
Forgot those other players you mentioned.  They're fertilizer!

Mdsocks!
I want to send you money!
Yes!  Rayden is the best.
Thank you!  I love you, King!
Thank you!

Cooljoe,
Cash rules everything around you save your thinking cap.
How can you place such faith in such a limited player?
Scorpion's timing is all wrong.
When he's shooting s*m*n out his palm; he's as vulnerable as a newly born child!
He shouldn't even be in Mortal Kombat!
I'm going to meet you someday and prove that to you, Joe.
Watch out!

Dejavhu doesn't know the definition of Old School.
(Not to mention the spelling!)
(Hey, don't MODIFY that!)
MK is a classic.  All of them.
If you play them, you'll understand better.
They are all different and all special.
It's the players that suck!

Justbones is just learning to play.
He likes Ninjas.
(Can you imagine that?)

Hmm.
Nairaland really has blossomed.
(Thanks for the good work, Seun.)

I have something to add.

Some coders are better at making games than all else.
Some love to show off by working on really really low level code; regardless of the app's genre.
Some love UIs more than anything else.
Some's forte's are Web-based apps.
Some love to C hack into places they shouldn't be and cause as much havoc as possible.
Some repair the mindless C havoc others have caused.
Some near-worship Codd and his ideas; they swim in databases.
etc. etc. etc. etc.
Some (like a very special person I know) have mastered the art of using Perl to GUM
various "markedly different" pieces of code (that other grammer_pros have written) together.
Geddit?

Now_ _ _ _
What did you wonderful employers say you wanted again?
BECAUSE NOW I'M LESS-BUSY AND READY TO ROLL!

ProgrammingRe: Help In Game Design And Analysis Needed by Stanozcom(m): 9:43am On Feb 20, 2008
Alright, Rita; I hear ya. Sorry I haven't said anything all this while.
I've had my head in my books & the www (as usual) trying to get my
numerous sites to be as good as Seun's here. cool

Say, do you write code?
What language do you consider the most fun?
What are you hobbies, Rita? Please mention all of them. Even those
you consider corny or mundane.

I read what you wrote you wrote about The Ring, Rita.
I think the concept is farrout, girl! They ought to give you a medal or somthing! REALLY!
Your brain must be running at a hundred miles an 'our to come up with something like that!

I'd really like to know what language you write it.
I think folks like you should write in really really high-level code -- considering the complexity of your ambition(s)!

Ton Roosendaal is the name of the man that is the primary brain behind the 3D modeling/animation software called Blender3d. Its probably the best thing out there (Maya fans, eat your hearts out wink ) Plus, Rita, it's free software.
But some people think that its a lil' bit too hard to learn.
I think I agree here.
But really; would it be worth the salt if it were ABC?
We're talking about creating -- vividly -- profound mathematical concepts -- graphically -- in a simulated Eucledian space!
I don't think that's supposed to be child's play!

Anyway sha; the truth is that Blender is NOT hard. It was designed to look hard to discourage the fainthearted and
lily-livered programmers and designers out there.
Rita, you are NOT fainthearted. Rita thou art NOT lily-livered!

Another thing;
Blender has an in-built gaming engine!
You can design the most complex of games right inside that wonderful viewport! (I haven't done this, though!)

Wanna try it out for size, Baby?

Wilfem!
I'm so sorry!
I shoulda replied you earlier! (I actually forgot about this thread! I just Googled something else, and
inadvertently stumbled upon this here!)
You have to go to Wikipedia and read about Blender 3D. Ton Roosendaal and his friends wrote that
wonderful program in Python for people like you and me. Please don't waste the opportunity.
Please.

After you're familiar with the basic controls and navigation in 3d space; I suggest you go to
http://www.blendernation.com/tutorials/blender-3d-beginner-tutorial-creating-a-logo/
and do the logo switch from 2 dimensions to 3. Don't be frightened of anything!
Time is what you have. Time is God's gift to man. I want you to take your time and learn it.
Learn it, Wilfem. Breathe it. Eat it. BE it.
It'll pay off in the end, I can assure you.
Blender is flexibility unimagined. And its free software.
And you can, in a couple of years from now (maybe), when you're better versed, modify the code
to suit your very own needs. smiley

You can thank me later. wink

2buff, you're just too much.

I love the sketched.

You're very talented.

Let's hook up. I've had the very same dream about making a Nigerian 3D game from the first time I played MK4 on PC about five or six years ago. That was why I learnt to use Blender.

I could do with your help. I also figure that you can do with mine.

Let's all come together. We can form a team. We'll succeed.

ProgrammingRe: Asp.net, Vb.net, C# Help Needed by Stanozcom(m): 2:53am On Oct 12, 2007
Julian Templeman says real programmers can write FORTRAN in any language.

I think you folks need to stop being particular about which .NET lingua a coder uses.
The CLR is ASP.NET.    That is where all our differences fuse into one.

C'mon, guys!
It's your ability to make the darned machine understand EXACTLY what it is that you're trying to say that matters!
And that can be in Igbo, Yoruba, English, German, or Italian!
