I think you lack direction, enthusiasm and commitment. Am a 500 level Chemical engineering student. The poorest g.p i ever had was a 4.39 in my 200 level. I have a passion for a carrier in computer. I self thought myself web designing (HTML and CSS). i am currently learning PHP with a dream of designing my own website soonest. I even have friend in 500 level Petroleum engineering who programmes with Java and yet he is a 2.1 student.
What am trying to say here is that your course of study in school cannot stop you from developing a carrier in computer science. Go to programming section of nairaland, most of the programmers and software developers there did not study computer science.
You should change your orientation about your present course. Be optimistic, create a time for developing a carrier in any area of computer that interests you and be committed to it. Try to balance it up and do your best to at least improve on your grades. Also remember the God factor, you need Him.
I choose programming, sometimes i feel like giving up cause its not easy for me to be teaching myself programming, but i always remind myself of one thing "there is no need to look back when you have alot to look forward to".
I pray God helps you out of this.

You need to de-programm. Studying Chemical Engineering does not mean you will become something in that line and you may be.

But think outside the box for once.
Its this the end.
You are born a warrior. Every Human is a born warrior. why will God give up on any human. He is the God of possibility.

Its not that if you fight now, you will make first class. No. But if you fight now, you will be surprise what that little effort will be.

Don't give up.
You have to accept were you are and set a goal of were you want to be.

Trust God.
Forget Friends. They can only do little.

Ask your Parents to pray for you. They are the Gods you have on earth.

Then Thirdly,
Work! Work! Work!

This is what you need till you finish in that school. Not frivolities.

Don't quit. if you do, you are a failure.

YOUR PASSION:
Computer science is broad. You need to dig deep on what side of it you love.

Secondly, think of how you can profit from this passion of yours. Think Entrepreneurship.

Lastly, for now work on your passion when you are on holidays. when Semester resume, take Chem. Engr. as the passion. Take it as a war you have to win. Set standard.

after you graduate, go back to your passion. seek a professional course in that area. or you can still enrol for D.E for the course. You will have two bsc. to your advantage.

Is your program a four year course?

Anyway, you can turn your life around even if you can't do same for your results.

There are a couple of important issues you raised, which I will try to address:

1. You never gave yourself a chance from the on-set, that has to end from this minute, start afresh from where you are not minding your current CGPA.

2. You still do not think you are studying the right course but at 300 Level, my friend, that is your right course, start to love and enjoy your program from this moment.

3. You think too much of what your parents, family & friend would say or do, how you have disappointed them; my friend, in the end "it is all man for himself".

From this moment on, be deliberate about loving yourself, your course and finish with the best grade possible.

Good grade makes you attractive to employers but good knowledge makes you the employer, so pursue knowledge!

6. Finally, pray and speak positive words to yourself everyday.

I found my course very difficult comprehending...simple questions I couldn't answer.. one day I decided to make a change..I read n prayed very hard and also put more effort n am making it today.. so dear pls n pls change ur thought n put more effort

This kind of thing happened to me.
I used to buy them food for them to show me the way. The best in our class then was my paddy. But I hated my class members and on the day of our last paper I deleted their numbers, reasons they didn't show me the way. Here in unn they set either past questions and no body would help during exam time to explain most of thing u need to know. .... When I Understood the way I began to make A's. Just understand how questions r been set in ur school and go tru alot of past questions and it will help u bro.

Bros come here let me word you, I never started enjoying "part " of my young life till I realised my life is mine though family and loved ones share a "part" of it.
My advice : cross from that department if you can find a course you love or that is relatively easier, this way you can start afresh get a good grade and chase a better and quality life while at it. I had a friend who did such and I felt sorry for her, I even felt she degraded herself by choosing to go back and pick a "general" course but guess what the next time I saw her was on TV, obviously she had made good grades and pushed herself to achieving her life goals.
Those parents, friends or family you are scared of facing now will blame you and worst of all won't be able to help you. It's a jungle out here after school, guys with good grades are struggling for lil jobs, only grace can help anyone with "not Good enough " grades.
PS: you have a gift, you are not here by mistake, you are better than you ever imagined, but please find that environment where your star can shine. Don't fish in the wrong pond.

This here is your issue. Get rid of that mentality, and learn to hold YOURSELF accountable for your outcomes.

NOT fate, NOT "your enemies," but your lack of adequate academic input. Until you do that, your grades will suffer.

The key to academic success is to study the material with genuine interest in the subject matter. Good grades would come as a bonus.
If you're studying only to pass an exam, you're better off not being in school, as you'll forget it all the second you drop your pen anyway.

Before you decide to take another jamb/utme. First look at what you did wrong

If it was a case of getting un serious because of over confidence or just plain un seriousness you have to work on that.

Sorry bro, I feel your pain, would have wanted to be part of the first to comment, since am not, My answer is simple. There is [b]nothing like u not having interest in [/b]whatever u are doing, U need to surround yourself with people that would motivate u. Bro u can start afresh and dedicate time for your studies, U would be surprised how intelligent u are. Goodluck bro in the decisions u make. Talk to your mum first if u wanna break the bad news, She sure knows how to handle her husband.

My friend, i will advise you to finish this program you're studying for now and strife, so that you can come out with at least a third class, cos as it is you can not make a 2.2.

You didn't tell us the course you are studying, but whatever it is i believe you can still make yourself fall in love with it. Like most people have said, coming out with a third class is not a crime, what you can do out there once you finish is what matters. And also there are online courses and certificate programs to enhance yourself after your first degree.

I made a research and i discovered that people that finished with a third class are not doing bad, after all. Most of the guys that finished with 3rd class during my time , years ago are doing very well now. They were even more prepared to face the world more than those of us that came out with better results.

The funny thing is most of us would end up doing something else, contrary to what we read in school. There are a lot of guys that graduated as a lawyers, engineers, accountants etc that are not practicing what they studied but are doing very well in different areas.

I will advise you to take it easy, make yourself happy, weigh your options, if you believe you can start afresh, go for it and if not honestly what you need is not only good grades to survive in the market world. The most important thing is you've gone through the four walls of schools.

Oga face the fact, your intelligent but not brilliant. Not everyone is brilliant. My dad was a First Class Product, he expected all his kids to attain same, but we all gat Second class lower except ma younger brow who is yet to finish, but he has 2,1 prospect. I spent 7yrs Uni Partly due to Strike and Switching of department but u wasnt dettered. Its not too late to change your departmemt and school if nexessary, because for this life na only u waka come. Failure or success, its only you that will carry your burden. See your parents, explain your predicaments to them, but i will advice you to discover yourself first of all, the sort of course you will like to read.
Meanwhile am a graduate of estate management and valuation, but i dont reay like the course i read, i prefer, psychology, Law or Pol Sci. So am gona have to definitely read one of those in The Nearest future..

if u start loving the course now...perhaps u can still make it via yah PD....u can apply PD and write jamb,just incase they don't give u a course u lyk at jamb....but u fit just close eye and get serious and do this once n for all....

The pressure will come but it's your life not theirs to live. Graduating with a 3rd class and not having a backup plan will give you hypertension o. Unless you will go for post degree. But since you say you don't have any interest in this course I doubt you will be successful in the post degree too.

I will advice you start afresh. Write ume again and start from 100l. Make sure it's a course that really interests you. If you can't start afresh then I suggest you learn a skill. Something that can fetch you money after school in case the job is not forth coming. It's bad enough for 1st, 2nd class holders not to talk of a 3rd class.
