malali: Nigerians are watching as Dangote is openly trying to turn petrol supply into a cartel
Business vs. Cartel
A business is built by competing. It creates value by offering better products, prices, or services, and it survives only as long as customers freely choose it. Regulation is accepted as part of the social contract, and failure is always possible.
A cartel is built by eliminating competition. It seeks profit through control, collusion, intimidation, regulatory capture, or barriers that prevent others from entering the market. Regulation is treated as an enemy, not a safeguard.
If Dangote is the corruption Czar he claims to be, Where was this energy when he was getting subsidized dollars from Emefiele. Who is the most corrupt Nigerian in modern times. Building a 750-Unit estate with stolen funds. Dangote did not report him to ICPC. They did business together amicably.
Dangote refinery was built on subsidized dollars. Every Nigerian is technically an owner in that refinery because national revenue was used to subsidize the dollar. In China, the government would have nationalized at least 30-40% of that refinery. Because the government gave you cheap dollars to construct it. Refinery was built with dollar at 350naira. But the government let him have the refinery without milking any concessions in petrol pricing out of him.Anybody trying to build a refinery today will have to do it at 1500naira to a dollar. There is no way you can compete with Dangote refinery. Instead of keeping quiet and eating his national cake. He also wants to go after all the the importers. Dangote hates you with passion if you are a competition. Those clapping for him now should preserve the same hands to clap for him in the near future. |

Farouk Ahmed Oil & Gas industry roles (Nigeria & abroad): • Started professionally as a Logic Board Verification Engineer at Apple Inc. in Dallas, TX, USA before moving into the energy sector. • Senior Crude Oil Trader – Duke Oil Inc. • Manager, Crude Oil Export Programming & Nominations, Shipping & Terminals (NNPC) • Executive Director (Commercial) – Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) • Managing Director – NiDAS Marine Limited (NNPC/DAWOO Joint Venture) • Executive Secretary – Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Authority (PPPRA) • Managing Director – PPMC • Special Adviser (Downstream) to the Group Managing Director, NNPC . Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Midstream And Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA)
Dangote really thinks someone who has held all this post in Nigeria doesn't have 5 million dollars.........
How do you know he didn't make it in the stock market ? Unless Dangote has evidence of misappropriated funds from NMDPRA, with documented evidence, this is defamation. Farouk should sue Dangote for false allegations and intent to defame. Money could have been inheritance, gifts, investments etc. Do you know how many people have unexplained wealth in Nigeria, starting from Asiwaju Jagaban Tinubu ? I suspect the Tinubu-cabal wants to remove Farouk Ahmed, they are just using Dangote to do the dirty job.

The best thing for Dangote to do is to reduce fuel prices further, to maybe #200. With this no body will be able to compete with him.
Don't tell me about the global oil price because he recently dropped over #120 in price without considering global oil price.
He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. |

My own position is this.
Omokiri made the silly and provoking statements about our president, and he is yet to retract them. Then the president has, against all odds, appointed him an ambassador. Does that suggest that the president admitted those allegations?
Maybe the president is not aware Omokiri's name is in the list. |

You have no close person in any Dangote Subsidiary who tells you what they go through in their company. He built a refinery, fine and good. He built a massive loading island, made it difficult for marketers to come and buy with coastal vessels. Once he discovers some marketers have imported, because they must stay affloat, he would crash price to frustrate them. As if that was not enough, he imported thousands of truck to start home delivery. Na only him like money The desperation is too much. Nteogwuija: From the 3927 available vacancy, 3900 has already either been sold as slots or given to family and friends of politicians. The 200k+ applicants can jostle for the 27 slots left.
Let's even imagine that by some stroke of miracle, Nigeria is no longer a corrupt country and the 3927 slots are intact, that means out of the 200k+ qualified applicants, only 3927 will be selected.
That's approximately 1.4% of the shortlisted candidates and 0.7% of the total application. This is if the 3927 slots were intact.
But we know it's easier for WestHam to win the English Premier league this season than the 3927 slots being intact. This is the sad reality. It's very unfortunate that we find ourselves in this messy bloc. My guy was sent an offer letter from a very powerful commission but they later sent him another letter that his employment was on hold. A more beautiful Nigerian took his supposed slot. What a country!! |

A305: while you have an idea about the matter because your know someone who japa'd. Sadly, your opinion is outdated.
A lot has happened since two years ago till today, Since 2 years ago:
*Naira is so much devalued and spending power eroded.
*Nigeria Inflation numbers has been rebased from 2009-2014
*Nigeria GDP has been rebased
*Due to Inflation, Travel expenses 2 years ago has to be considered, hence 20 million of today compared to 2 years ago now has a purchasing power of 15 million.
*Your cousin's present condition/economic reality is the UK is a text book example for this op not to consider this her japa dream.
I digress that 20M still isn't small money by any standard for a Nigerian living in Nigeria, so while I discourage her from emigrating, I will all also suggest she invest that 20M into a safe investment like in Nigeria money market NOT land banking, NOT stocks or Equities but only low yield money market investments.
This will guarantee her financial security, cushion against inflation and steady financial growth, she can worry about physical/environmental security by living in a safe area in Nigeria. Get solar to enjoy regular power. Advance more in her present job.
What else does she want to japa for? Could you please give me more clarity on this money market? How does it work? I wish to explore that option Is it better that Tbills? |
Education › Re: Why Do Countries Borrow Money When They Can Just Print Them? by Starpro87(m): 2:15pm On Aug 27, 2025 |
I think the basic answer is that money is more of a virtual asset. The value you can give in exchange for money is your real worth, so in a situation where you do not have that value to give immediately you will have to borrow, to return that value worth later. So basically, countries borrow instead of printing because it costs more cash and values to print it's money equivalent. |

NewPee44: Good day Nairalanders,
I seriously need your help to save my marriage. I will be very brief with my story.
I am a newly wedded man. Before I got married, I usually take soda (Coke, Fata and big cola) drinks a lot, sometimes I take 2 bottles a day. Back then I assumed that since my work is so stressful, the soda will nor have much effect.
Fast forward to few months of my wedding, I stopped drinking soda.
Surprisingly, my P*nis could not stand properly for almost a week, I had to visit a local herb seller for Agbo. After few days, it started working again. Fast forward to few days ago, I realised that I cum as quickly as 2minutes or less. The present situation is making me restless.
Please kindly advise on what I can use to get back myself. If you could last up to 2mins then you did well. |

I am currently 32 years of age, graduate of one university in Benin Republic working with an NGO in northern Nigeria. I have interest to further my studies but it seems their is no possible here locally in Nigeria because of accreditation issues which given me headaches to achieve my mission (graduate studies).
So I would like to ask if there is any possible way to do so and please remember am also working with an NGO which doesn't consider allowing leaving working for any reason I'm not sure all universities in Benin were blacklisted. I'm saying this because I know of a guy who is, currently, running a master in a Nigerian Uni with a degree from Benin. |

I don't understand why Soludo has suddenly come to think that he should be the next president of Igbo extraction. He is so against Obi becoming a president, I don't know if they have had a cross-fire before. Maybe or maybe not!
He, talking about what the constitution stipulates, shows he doesn't believe in setting the Nigerian course right.
All we need to correct the numerous anomalies in Nigeria is a mix of political sagacity, prudence, purity, uprightness, and (people-centric) leadership.
It can happen within a four-year tenure, so Soludo should focus on his second term ambition and leave presidency for those who want to throw their hat in the ring. |

This is how government build huge expensive projects that will be underutilized If you have been to this place you would not say this. The cost of living in Bonny is quite high. Do you imagine what it costs to ferry people, goods, cars to Bonny? All projects must not generate money, some are built for convenience, and to ease the lives of the citizenry, which is one of the great essence of government. FRANCISTOWN: Why did you have to put "My Virgin wife"?
Your wife is your wife, the virginity was not needed if you weren't trying to push an agenda.
An evil person is an evil person whether they are virgins or not.
Lemme say something quickly about people who push the virgin propaganda.
They say, being virgin is not enough. Character is very important.
Yes character is very important but virginity or non virginity does not change a lady 's character.
An uncultured, unlucky and disrespectful virgin lady will still be uncultured, unlucky and disrespectful when she becomes a non virgin, therefore choose virgin.
At least it shows she's disciplined and virtuous.
A homely, submissive, disciplined and respectful virgin girl will be homely, submissive, disciplined and respectful when she becomes non-virgin.
There are non virgin girls with some good qualities likewise there are virgin girls with good qualities. Therefore, virginity still wins.
There are non virgin girls with really bad qualities and there are also virgins with bad qualities. Virginity still wins.
The fact that your wife is a virgin shows she has discipline to an extent. She's not entirely evil. She is not entirely evil, but she has started to toe the line of evil. With time she will get entirely evil. |
