Our EXCUSES are genuine but they are not valid because excuses keep holding us back

These are some of the excuses that might be preventing you from starting early preparation for the November 2021 diet ICAN exam;


• What if I fail again?

• There is still more time to prepare.

• I need work Leave to start preparation.

You might have been thinking of skipping CITN this diet
because of a particular problem you are going through now.

Understanding why you procrastinate is a key first step to getting motivated.


Spend some time reflecting on what makes you procrastinate.
This will enable you to identify which of the following tips will help you the most.

SECONDLY, REWARD YOURSELF.

Every time you complete one or two tasks, reward yourself with a short period of relaxation .
It could be five minutes on your favorite smartphone game, a short walk, or playing of music.
Rewarding yourself with short and enjoyable breaks is a key part of the “chunking down” technique.

THIRDLY, BE CLEAR ABOUT WHY YOU WANT TO GET GOOD GRADES

One of the best ways to get motivated to study is to be very

Write down your own list of reasons for studying hard, and put the list at your study desk.
Then, when you’re feeling unmotivated, you can turn to the list to get the motivation.

When a student crams for exams at the last minute, he is studying to remember rather than studying to understand.

And with so many materials and stuff to cover, the student’s brain doesn’t have a chance to absorb or make lasting connections about what he or she is learning.

As a result, students will forget the material almost as quickly as they learned it.
The best technique to avoid cramming is early preparation and practice.


4. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

When you believe in yourself, you’ll be willing to try new things.
When you feel confident in yourself, you’re able to devote your resources to the task at hand. Rather than waste time and energy worrying that you aren't good enough, you can devote your energy to your efforts.
So ultimately, you'll perform better when you feel confident.

The next point on, how you can be optimistic for your ATS exam is;


• CREATE AN ENCOURAGING AND POSITIVE ATTITUDE

As an optimistic person, positive thinking will help you generate
positive results and experiences,
But
A pessimistic person’s negative thinking will generate negative results and experiences.

I remember what happened last diet when a lot of students were having
difficulties to do their ATS exam payments online, ATS website was actually down.
A student was just saying that “Why is it that I am the only one having this issue,
that was how I had issues with my exam docket last diet and
could not write ATS exams, abi na so dem won do me bad again this diet,
why am I always the victim?”

After ATS site was restored back online,
she still had issue making payment online.
Few weeks ago, she chat me up that she did not write last diet exams
because she was so disorganized and discouraged.

It is important to remain an optimist rather than to be hopeless. Visualize a positive outcome for your ATS exams and work hard towards it.

In conclusion,
Being Optimistic for Your Success In ATS exams, will have positive impact on your life in general because;

• Someone with an optimistic perspective will view negative experiences or challenges as a temporary occurrence.

• Someone who is optimistic will view failure as one aspect of life, whereas a pessimistic person will consider their entire life to be a failure.


• Optimistic people look for external causes of negative events and pessimistic people tend to blame themselves.

3. SELF-TESTING YOURSELF

Self-testing is a powerful way to study and learn.
I remember years back, I finished the syllabus for a course but
did not solve any past question before going for the exams.
In the exam hall, I was thrown off balance when I saw the first 3 questions in the theory part.
It was as if I did not study at all. After the exams, I realized that
those questions were very easy, it was just that I was not familiar with
the mode of the questions.

So once you have finish studying a topic and have a good set of notes,
the best way to know if you understand what you have read is to test yourself.

You should get past questions to test yourself so that you can be 100%
sure that you have understood the topic before you move to the next topic.
This will help to boost your self-confidence towards the exams.



4. GET AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER
An accountability partner is a person who can help you to keep a commitment and
will be able to hold you responsible for not achieving a task.
This has been my secret weapon for many years now,
for any task I did not complete at a given time,
I pay my accountability partner at least N5,000.

While studying for an exam, your accountability partner will
help make sure you complete what to study for each day, else you will pay a fine.
Make sure the fine is worth it, so that you can do everything possible to avoid to paying the fine.
When choosing an accountability partner, make sure you choose
someone who will be (brutally) honest with you.

P.S: We all can find a million excuses to not to do what we say we are going to do.
An accountability partner keeps you on track and
helps you move you achieve your task in due time.

A recent survey shows that the ICAN students who have not started preparing for November diet ICAN exams have the following reasons;

• I am VERY BUSY now.

• There is still enough TIME to prepare.

• I don’t have MONEY now.

In today’s article I will address the first reason ‘I am very busy now’

It’s a good thing to be busy if you are busy with work,
afterall the reason why you want to become a Chartered Accountant
is to put yourself in a position to get better job with bigger offer.
So, if that is your intention, why allow your busy schedule deny you of your dream?

If you don’t have time now, are you saying you will definitely have time when it is few weeks to ICAN Nov diet exams or
you are waiting till you have exam leave?....... There is nothing wrong with that,
but there is everything wrong with it if you want guarantee success or you want to write more than one course.
If you wait till exam date is near,
you will be studying under intense pressure and tension, which might lead to stress.

IMPLICATION OF STUDYING UNDER STRESS, PRESSURE AND TENSION

According to research, Stress can affect how memories are formed.
When stressed, people have a more difficult time creating short-term memories and turning those short-term memories into long-term memories, meaning that it is more difficult to learn when stressed.

If you are stressed while preparing for an exam, you may have more difficulty accurately remembering the details of what you have read later, as the stress you felt colors your perceptions as well as your ability to recall what you have learnt earlier.

It means you are actually reducing your chances of passing ICAN exam when you don’t prepare early for ICAN exams due to the negative effect of studying under pressure and tension.

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

The first phase of success in an exam is to believe in yourself….. Be Optimistic.
Though you have to study well for SUCCESS to be guaranteed.
Negative thinking is like a giant wall, it can prevent us from accomplishing our goals (exam success).
If you are optimistic and did not study well…….. You are on you own (“oyo”).
But the irony is that,
Even after studying well, you still have to be optimistic to pass your exams.
According to Helen Keller “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement”

So, how can you be optimistic for your ATS exams?

• ELIMINATE NEGATIVE THOUGHT

Have you experienced the situation whereby you are just feeling like
“what if I fail ATS exams”,
especially when the exam date is fast approaching?
It is important to eliminate all the negative feelings and thought by
replacing them with positive words.
Say to yourself “I know I will PASS this diet” ,
“My Success is a must this diet” “I study both hard and smart to clear my ATS exams” ,
“I look forward to a great result” , “I succeed even in stressful situations”
This is known as AFFIRMATION.

Do this AFFIRMATION preferable when you wake up in the morning
and before you go to bed at night.

It’s never too late to adopt good study habits that will improve your CITN exam success
and relieve your exam anxiety.
This article is actually based on the questions I received in an article
I wrote about the danger of cramming, most CITN students want to know
how they can stop the habit of cramming.

These are four study strategies that are better than cramming

1. GET ORGANISED
A major reason for cramming is poor organization of time.
Even though you could be very busy that you seem not to have time for study,
That is not a valid excuse if you must pass this diet CITN exam.
You need to plan your day and write down what you need
to do for each day with time allocated to each task,
from work time to every other activity.

If you want to make good use of your time,
you’ve got to know what’s most important and then give it all you’ve got. -- Lee Iacocca
Being organized with your study time helps you to be organized in your thinking.

2. TAKE NOTES WHILE STUDYING
Taking notes is important. An active note-taking process is important
while studying to help you transfer new information from
short-term memory and then recall it more easily after it is stored
in the long-term memory.

This is because what you have noted is actually a version of your
understanding of what you have read, so it is very easy to remember it.
At the end of each chapter you have read, write a few bullet points that
summarize what you've read and make it personal by reading your summary at least twice.

You are responsible for your success or failure this diet……. While not choose SUCCESS NOW

“I have been a Chartered Accountant
for over 3 years now. Something
unbelieavable happened in my office recently.

A colleague, Mr Orioye and I

Does this sound familiar?
You have a big exam like ATS coming up, so you know it’s time to hit the books.
When you sit to start studying, five minutes later, your phone rings.
It’s a text message from your cousin, Ada. She’s asking about the family trip
that you’re going on after your exam.
After replying Ada’s text messages, you look at the time. 15 minutes have gone by!

You put your phone aside and get back to your reading.
10 minutes later, your Facebook notification pops up.
You only intend to spend a few minutes on Facebook,
but you end up browsing through three photo albums,
commenting on four status, and watching two videos.
All of this takes you another 20 minutes.

I’m sure something like this has happened to you before.
Could this be the reason why people fail ATS exams?
Or is it because we are MILLENNIALS?

According to Pew Research Center, anyone born from
1981 till date is considered a Millennial.
People of Social media age and massive technology advancement.

You may ask….. does it mean that because I am a MILLENNIAL, so I must be distracted?
The answer is NO, you can choose not to be distracted because you need to pass ATS exams.
Think about the money you have paid for registration, subscription and the time spent.
If you must pass this diet, then you must conquer distraction.

SO, HOW CAN YOU AVOID DISTRACTION AND STAY FOCUS WHILE STUDING?
1. Always put your phone on silent mode and place it away from you while studying, don’t even but it vibration mode.

2. Turn off your Internet access…. Did I hear say “NO” .
Well, it is just an advice so that you can pass your exam.

3. Ask people (Your spouse, children or friends) to give you privacy or better still, look for a private place of study or maybe use the library.

5. When you notice any form of distraction; admit it,
say out loud “this is a distraction” and take a deep breath and stop the distraction.
This will help your subconscious mind to define what is a distraction to you

No exam is actually difficult or simple,

but why are student failing exams

if no exam is difficult?


Deola had written CITN for more than 3 times

We all have days where we don’t feel like studying,
we just keep postponing it and sometimes this feeling can last a whole
week without studying at all.


I can’t forget my experience back then in the university,
I felt the course was easy to pass, so I just keep postponing my study time,
Before I realized it was a week to exams. I now started marathon studying,

Most times, we normally do not feel like studying until there is

I get lots of mails from ATS students who complained that they are finding it hard to study for their exams.

If you find yourself in this situation, you are not alone,
But
You don’t want to remain in the situation if you must pass this NEXT Diet Exams.

The first thing you need to understand about studying is that, waiting for the right mood might result in procrastination and
procrastination could lead to FAILURE.
Just start, even when you don’t feel like.
Like medicine, you just have to use it for you to get well, not because you feel like.

Here are some tips that will help you study more effectively:


START WITH THE EASY TOPICS FIRST:

If you start with the difficult topics, your mood will get
worse after realizing that you wasted a lot of time without finishing anything to the end. The trick is to start with the easy topic in order to convince yourself that you have progressed in a short period of time.


ISOLATE YOURSELF:
Isolate yourself to a calm place, leave your mobile phone, tablet, PC and everything else that could distract you out of the room.
When you do so, you won't find anything to waste time on and you will progress much faster


GLANCE THROUGH THE PAPERS OR TOPICS FIRST:
It is better to glance through the papers quickly before you begin.
When you do so, you will get a sense of achievement
that will put you in a better mood to start studying.
Just read the topic quickly and try to get as much as you can from them,
if you find anything difficult to understand, just skip it.
This first attempt has the goal of improving your mood.



TAKE 5 MINUTES BREAK AFTER EVERY 33 MINUTES OF STUDY:
Take a short break of 5 minutes from studying after studying for 33 minutes and 33 seconds.
According to research, this will keep you refreshed and
prevent you from becoming mentally exhausted.
This will help you to replenish your energy and prevent you from sleeping.


DO AWAY WITH STUDY PACKS AND USE VIDEO LECTURES:

You don’t need 100% to pass ATS exams,
