1. TRY NOT TO GO OVER THE EXAM QUESTIONS:

On our ATS Telegram platform during one of the previous diet, I saw a student saying that there was an error in one of the questions…….. You have already written the exams, nothing can be done about that, just pray for God’s favour.


Do not go home and start checking your textbooks for the correct answer to the exam questions. This will only increase tension and anxiety. You have written the exam, so put your mind at rest.


When I was in the hostel, back in the university, my roommate checked all the correct answers to the exam questions, he shouted “Mogbe oo ” that is, “I am finished ooo” and he fainted.
I guess he noticed that he didn’t do well.


But to our surprise, he passed that exam.


Why put yourself under unnecessary stress and tension? You have done your best, so leave the rest for God and the examiner.

Honestly, if you don’t believe you’re going to pass

I remember a student who came for counseling years ago,
he has been writing ICAN exam for over 5 years but not Chartered yet,

Did I just hear you “YES”!
I think I agree with you because no human can succeed without God’s approval. But let’s look at the other aspect of it.
There are two categories of people writing this ATS exam. The first are the people who have fully prepare and prayed to God for success in their ATS exam which I believe they will surely succeed. The second sets of people are those who didn’t prepare for this upcoming exams but pray to God for success anyway. If I may ask, please which category do you belong to?


There no magic about success, it requires deliberate action and hard work. If you have not prepared for your ATS exam, don’t ever expect God to help you because “Heaven helps those who help themselves”. I know there might be a reasonable excuse for not preparing for your exam, but the beauty of it is that those excuses are not valid.

I have personally seen situation where some students did not prepare for an exam and they fasted and prayed throughout the exam period hoping for God to make them succeed but unfortunately, they failed like never before. It is a pity people don’t know that 75% of your success is determined by your preparation and hard work while the remaining 25% is determined by prayer.

Prayer is a very essential component you need to cultivate the habit of doing because we never can tell if on the day of your exam there would be any unplanned situation which can hinder you from writing your exam. Don’t misunderstand me please, here is what I mean: Don’t ever assume somebody or the forces in your village are stopping you or will stop you from writing or passing you ATS exam. This are just assumptions, they may not true.

Imagine a situation where an individual goes late to the exam hall and he/she find himself very disorganized which affected their performances. Some students can’t still stop blaming the witches and wizard in their villages for making them go late to the exam hall meanwhile it is their fault.

Sincerely if you prepare well and you pray to God you will surely succeed in this ATS exam.
My advice to you is to pray and I personally will join you in prayers.

This short write up is not meant to be a debate, but a request to succeed. You have prepared so hard, what if this is just the last minutes obstacle you need to scale-through.
Also take note that, I am not condemning social media because in this modern age it has become part of our way of life and we may not be able do without it. Infact, If not for social media, you might not see this post…. So you can see that it very important.

So, why should you quit social medial for ATS exams temporarily?
According to Cal Newport, the author of the book DEEP WORK, a Business & Leadership Wall Street Journal Bestseller, he said that Facebook and other social media platforms are design to be ADDICTIVE, as a result, your time will be fragmented, which can reduce your capacity to concentrate.

• …..You noticed that when you wake up in the morning, you will check your social media first.
• …… Before you go to bed, you check your social media last.
• …… Even when you are in the church, mosque or even board meetings, you are tempted to check social media.

Cal Newport mention that Facebook use to hire ‘ATTENTION ENGINEERS’ just to grab our attention and make us stick to Facebook, that is why you see Facebook notification regularly on your phone and on your email.

Back to ATS exams, you need not to allow your attention to be fragmented now, because you need almost full attention and concentration for you to succeed. So, if you are on leave, quit facebook, quit twitter, quit Instagram etc for now and concentrate 100% on your study. Don’t entertain any form of distraction. After the exams, you can resume social media.
If you are not on leave, do the same; quit facebook, quit twitter, quit Instagram, quit snapchat, etc.
Let no other thing ring in your head apart from ATS. Treat your ATTENTION with respect, don’t fragment it.

Distraction has become our everyday way of life,
from phone notification, system notification, website notification,
social media notification, events, daily news, trends and a whole of other things.
The irony is that we have accepted all these as a normal way of life,
so we don’t see anything wrong with it.

You may ask , “Is it possible to remove all forms of distractions during study”?
Maybe yes,
You should always note that there are time and
place for everything and what’s important for you now is
to focus on studying and passing your CITN exams.

Let me show you how to remove all distractions during study;

• IDENTIFY CURRENT DISTRACTION:

List all the things that can distract you
while studying and label them distraction,
so that immediately when they happen, you will be reminded
that is a distraction. For examples, these are list of distractions when I studying;
Phone ringing, text message beeping, music, social media notification popup,
latest news popup, email notification and noise.



• SUSPEND ALL FORM OF DISTRATION UNTIL AFTER YOU FINISH STUDYING

I know that we can be very addicted to our phones,
so I won’t suggest you switch it off during study time,
you can actually put it in silence or vibration.
You can also deactivate notification,
so that you won’t get any app notification at that time.
And lastly, disable your internet during study time.
This is just a price to pay for your CITN exams, why not give it all it takes.
According to Sharon Salzberg, distraction wastes our energy, concentration restores it.

Whenever ATS exam date is getting closer, exam tension/pressure could naturally set in.

Sometimes the pressure of exams may cause stress.
Stress is actually your response to pressure and,
while a small amount of pressure can be useful to keep you focused during exam time,
if it becomes too much, it could hinder your performance.

Exam tension is a normal feeling but you must not let it overwhelm you
because it could hinder your ATS exam success.

If you're experiencing exam tension, just calm down, it’s just an exam.

Believe in yourself and don't worry excessively.

Remember that you don’t need 100% to pass ATS exams, so it means you can actually pass.

It's natural to feel some exam nerves but don't panic.

P.S: The most effective way to eliminate feelings of stress and panic is to close your eyes and
take several long, slow deep breaths.

Give yourself a mental talk by repeating "I am calm" or "I know I will pass this diet ATS exam".

Abeg make I ask you, should I stop this ICAN Exam Countdown?

Wondering why I ask?

A student complained that she does not know what to do
again about this May diet ICAN exams.
“Whenever I receive your countdown email I will just lose
my appetite for that day and when I get home I won’t be
able to do house shores because ICAN exams date will just be ringing in my head and
my husband has really been complaining about this attitude.”

“But the good thing is that, the countdown is forcing me to study hard and

It is few days to ATS exams……….. EXAMINATION DATES is Tuesday,
16th & Wednesday, 17th March, 2021.
Nothing dey happen, we go face the exam.

Years ago, few days to ATS exam, one of our students called and asked me that
“What are the areas of concentration as I conclude my last minute preparation? ”

I just replied him that “If you had asked me the same question two months ago,
maybe I would have helped you, but it is late now, just keep solving past questions”


Then he asked another question “since I am writing ATS exam for the first time, what are the do’s and don’t ?”


These are the some of the suggested DO’S and DONT’S few days to ATS exam.

DO’S

• Know your exam center ahead.


• Make a visit to your exam center if you are chanced.


• If your location is far from exam center, Move to a hotel close to your exam center.


• Make sure your calculator and writing materials are in good condition.



DON’T

• Don’t go late to your exam center, lateness could destabilize you.


• Don’t interact with anyone while in the exam hall, this could be passive as malpractice.


These do’s and don’t might seems too basic, but it is better to do the right thing to avoid the “stories that tough”

We started ICAN exam countdown last Friday and
I am amazed with the massive feedback.

See the kind of feedback I got;

Studying isn’t always an easy thing to do,
especially for working -class professional students.
I am sure you might have had such experience too!!!
The struggle is to find the right motivation to study.
The question is, how can you study effectively amidst your ever busy schedule?

I had a friend who got overwhelmed.
She had to quit a job because she ‘had no work-life balance’ and now,
she is having the same problem in her new job.
"Everyone wants a piece of me,
I am at the end of my rope." she complained bitterly.

So I replied
"How would you feel if no one in the world needed you?
If your phone never rang,
if your inbox was always empty,
if there was never anything disturbing you?”
"Oh my God. I would feel horrible" she replied.
So, the issue is not being too busy,
the real issue is how to plan your studies amidst your busy schedule.

Being overwhelmed with your official duty causes anxiety
which could get you stuck in your exam preparations.
Instead of allowing that anxiety to overwhelm you and
distract you from focusing on your CIS exam preparations,
use it as a drive for your motivation.

All you just need to do is to first just take a deep breath….
and take a good walk.
This will have a soothing effect on the mind and body.

Is there anything you stand to gain if you fail? Failure in any form is what every human being living on this planet earth hate. Failure comes with lost and depending on the magnitude of that failure.

Everybody wants to succeed. Why?

Because success is sweet, success is praiseful; success gives you joy and fulfillment. But most importantly, success is attractive and people want to associate with the successful.

What then are the secrets that will permanently eliminate failure in your exams and keep you on the path of success especially as you take on the next CITN Exams?

Here are the three secrets:


• Take Charge Of Your Time: the importance of taking charge of your time towards the success of your exams can never be over emphasized. Success comes from time just like anything visible we can see, comes from time. Everything is a product of time. Interestingly, failure is also a product of time, but failure comes from the wrong use of time. And hear what this writer said: “Until we can manage time, we can manage nothing else.” ___Peter F. Drucker


Taking charge of your time will result in proper planning of each day, to capture all your daily activities, including your study time. What I’m telling you right now has work so well for me, and it will work for you as well. In fact, not planning your day as I have explained is an automatic invitation to failure.


• Prepare Through Adequate Studies: It was Benjamin Franklin who said: “by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” Don’t forget what we’ve said about the negative effects of failure. Failure should never be an option. But unless you do these things I’m asking you to do, and do it on a consistent basis, failure is inevitable. Or do you have another option? Even if you do, it will be contrary to nature and will always meet with appropriate consequences.

Data processing experts tells us that input governs output. Your preparation determines your performance. If you don’t put in sufficient preparation towards your exam by studying well, you’ll get exactly what you put in. The next one is this:


• Stay Motivated: consider this statement by Ralph, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

That’s a true statement: from within us lies the power that can propel us to achieving that which we desire to achieve and that’s where motivation comes in.

“They must often change who would be constant in happiness or wisdom.” – Confucius

To stay motivated, you have to consume motivational materials in form of books, tapes, music…

If you do these three things with utmost excitement, I guarantee you; failure will be far removed from you.


P.S. what you need to say bye-bye to failure and maintain steady success in exam is not cumbersome, take charge of your time, it is said to be the highest resource available to all men. How it is used is what determines the success or failure of anyone. Secondly, prepare adequately by studying for your exams, and then stay motivated. This is your sure bet, do these things as you approach your next CITN exams and you’ll have a success story to tell.
