The child carries on the last name of the father. That's a huge favour from the woman to the man in my POV. So it's only rational that the man pays child support to the woman in return.

It's only rational if the man indicates he wants the child from the early stages of the pregnancy.

A woman can't be the only party allowed to decide if the child lives or then then suddenly it becomes the responsibility of both parties involved when she goes ahead to have the child even against the man's wishes.
