Arewa community in Enugu state have thrown their weight behind the aspiration of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in  the 2019 governorship election, senator Ayogu Eze.

The members drawn from different markets and zones in the state including Ogui, Asata, Artisan, Emene, Abakpa and Gariki said it is only the candidacy of Ayogu Eze that can guarantee the protection of their inalienable rights as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.

Speaking separately at a solidarity visit to the APC governorship candidate in the state, leader of the Hausa Community in Enugu State Alhaji, Aminu Saidu, Arewa Youth leader, Hamza Buba, former Vice-Chairman, Hausa Community and leader New Artisan Market, Alhaji Umaru Saduiq, Co-ordinator Ogui, Abdulahi Musa as well as Alhaji Ume Dauda, Secretary New Artisan Market and Udegbunam Chukwu, Treasurer , lamented the forceful takeover of the new artisan market by the current administration which they said has made life unbearable for them.

While appealing to Ayogu Eze to restore the market when he enters Lion Building, they promised to mobilize all their members across the 19 Northern states living in Enugu to vote for the APC candidate.

According to them, Senator Eze have a proven track record and has the capacity to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state who are in dire need of inclusive and good governance.

Responding, the APC governorship candidate, Senator Eze who thanked the Arewa Community in the state for their endorsement said the party in the state will deliver 90 % of the votes for President Mohammadu Buhari.

He said Enugu state and other south east states cannot continue to play opposition politics saying “we want to carry Enugu to the federal level so that we will not be discriminated.

“APC is a party for all. Igbos are at a disadvantage and President Buhari has promised us that 2023 he will hand over power to Igbos to govern Nigeria”.

He also promised the Hausa community that when elected  ,they will be integrated into his administration’s agricultural revolution programme.

“As for your market, maybe you want the old market back, but we are going to modernise your business. There are people we are discussing with in Brazil, who are going to bring machines for you to improve the way you process your meat. We will use the money from AFDP, World Bank and other agencies in Germany and in Britain. We will modernize and build a bigger place for you. All your cattle will not travel all the way from the north again. We have a big agricultural programme for all residents of Enugu who have interest in Agriculture.

On political inclusion and appointment, the APC governorship candidate, said everybody will be carried along irrespective of tribe and religion.

“You can remember that the first Mayor of Enugu Umaru Atine is an Hausa man. We are going to make sure that we return to that era, where Hausa, Yoruba and other people coming to sit with us in the state House of Assembly.

In 2015 there was an Hausa man who ran for the House of Assembly, Aminu Usman, the next one we will make sure, he will not just run but he will win.

In a remark, former governorship candidate of the APC in the 2015 election in the state, Chief Okey Ezea thanked the Arewa Community for endorsing the APC candidate, Ayogu Eze whom he said has the capcity to the fortunes of Enugu people around.

He urged them to mobilize their friends across ethnic and religious divides living in the state to ensure that APC wins the governorship and presidential elections as well as other elective positions.

“We have no doubt that you will vote for APC. But most of the times in Enugu state, opposition parties are shortchanged. It is not as if we don’t have popular support but after voting, figures are manipulated. So I urged you to be determined agents of the party in the various units to ensure that no agent is bought over. Because that is the greatest problem we face in Enugu state.”

“We need hard work and mobilization. Tell your friends to vote APC and everybody will benefit” He added.

The coast seems to be getting clearer for the All Progressive Congress, APC in Enugu State as all the waring factions are closing ranks faster than anticipated by political pundits.

The latest in this festival of reconciliation and fence mending in the party is the total collapse of all the factions in the party in Enugu North Sanatorial district that’s the Zone of APC governorship candidate, Sen. Ayogu Eze.

The leader of the party in the zone and the state Youth leader of the Party, Prince Ikechukwu Oloto who led the leaders of all the factions to the home of the APC governorship candidate over the weekend pledged their loyalty to the party and the candidacy of their son, Sen. Ayogu Eze.

The leader of APC in Udenu and from Oba, the village of the incumbent governor and the PDP ccandidate in the forthcoming election, Emmanuel Nnadi popularly known as ‘Missile’ acknowledged that the war in the party is over and all party faithfuls are expected to rally round the candidate of the party.

He called on his people, the Nsukka people to to send their brother that knows the job as it is obvious their brother that is there currently doesn’t know the job and was never prepared for the job.
He also accused the governor of stealing his roadmap he submitted to him in the road network in Oba and challenged the governor to deny it and he will provide the original copy of the roadmap.

All the chairmen and leaders of the party in the 6 local governments in the zone took turn to pledge their allegiance to the part and their readiness to work for the party in the zone. They include;

Hon. Jonathan Chukwuma, a former Deputy Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly and the candidate of APC for Igboetiti and Uzo-Uwani federal constituency in his remarks thanked God for what is happening today in their party and charged them to be very watchful as APC is a moving train citing what happened in the just concluded bye-elections should be a pointer.
The state Party Chairman of APC, Barr. Ben Nwoye told Sen. Ayogu that “These are his party members as there is no factions in his party”. He told the party leaders to get ready for the series the state government will unleash on them ranging from attacks, false promises, blackmail etc.
He enjoined the party members to get ready to send a lion that will fearlessly fight to get what belongs to Ndi Enugu as “Lion building Is for Lions and not for cats, irrespective of how fat the cat is, it remains a cat”.
According to Ben Nwoye, the era of fake promises and deceit are over, and that if the man currently representing Nsukka slot is allowed to continue, it’s going to be a colossal waste to the waste and they will be a laughing stock as they are currently being under represented.

Sen. Ayogu Eze in his remarks thanked every party member for this demonstration of love and faith in his candidacy stating that today is a very remarkable day in the history of the party and promised to carry everyone along in their journey to the lion building.

To further demonstrate the love that has been established in the party and his resolve to carry all interest along, he appointed 3 LGA coordinators for his campaign from the faction that never supported his emergenc.

He charged other zones to emulate what Nsukka zone has done today.

My aspiration is nkanu driving agenda not really about me so I left PDP because they took a funny decision to recycle old hands so I had to move because Enugu government don’t need nor appreciate quality.
So Actually Am contesting with gburugburu not chimaraoke because chimaroke never picked formed nor involved in screenings/primaries,and I don’t think he will even come for the election so Ugwuanyi is contesting for both Governorship and senatorial position.

A Grade I Area Court in Aco Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, has ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, to serve a summons on the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to compel him to face a criminal complaint initiated against him by a private lawyer in respect of the bloody bank robbery in which many died in Offa, Kwara State, earlier this year.

The criminal complaint was initiated by an Abuja-based lawyer and rights activist, Oluwatosin Ojaomo, whose lawyer told the court on Monday that the IGP had given assurance that the necessary court papers would be served on the Senate President.

The police had said their investigations linked Saraki to the kingpin of the robbery operation.

The Senate President is the sole defendant in the criminal complaint initiated by the private lawyer.

The criminal complaint marked, CR/196/2018, was said to have been initiated by Ojaomo under Section 89(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

It sought Saraki to be summoned for allegedly ignoring police invitation to answer to an allegation involving the investigation of the suspects of the Offa robbery.

The complaint stated that Saraki’s alleged refusal to honour the invitation amounted to obstructing a criminal investigation and disobeying a public officer carrying out a lawful responsibility.

This alleged conduct, it said, was an offence punishable under Section 136 and 149 of the Penal Code Law.

The judge handling the case at the Grade 1 Area Court, Aco Estate, Lugbe, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Abdullahi Garuba Ogbede, had, on September 10 this year, ordered the issuance of a summons on Idris following Saraki’s absence from court.

On Monday, the complainant’s lawyer, Mr E. S. Marcus, said he was informed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Legal Unit of the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, identified as Mahmoud, that the IGP had directed the legal unit to ensure the prompt service of the court papers on Saraki before the next hearing date of October 3, 2018.

He said, “The defendant is not in court. At the last date, the court issued a witness summons on the IGP to come and show cause why the police failed to effect service of the criminal summons, warrant of arrest and other processes on the defendant.

“The witness summons was served on the Nigeria Police Force by the court’s registry.

“However, we received a call from DSP Mahmoud of the Legal Department of the Nigeria Police Force headquarters, that the matter has been assigned by the IGP to a particular unit of the NPF to effect the service of the summons on the defendant and arrest him.”

Marcus explained in court on Monday that his client, who was supposed to bear the responsibility of serving Saraki with the complaint, had to resort to seeking the IGP’s involvement in accordance with Section 122 of the ACJA, when it became difficult for him to serve the Senate President.

According to the lawyer, the Inspector-General of Police is required, under the law, to either produce the defendant in court or attend court to explain why the defendant was absent.

He then applied to the court to grant a short adjournment to enable the police to serve the processes on Saraki.

The judge, Ogbede, granted Marcus’ request and adjourned the case till October 3.

The criminal complaint against the Senate President read, “Criminal complaint brought pursuant to Section 89(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015. Please, cause a summons for a direct criminal complaint on the defendant on the following terms:

“That you, Dr Bukola Saraki, on or about the 24th day of July, 2018 within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did refuse to honour the invitation of the Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force to report at the police headquarters in FCT, Abuja to answer to an allegation involving the investigation of some criminal suspects involved in a case which the Nigeria Police Force is currently investigating, thereby obstructing a criminal investigation and disobeying a public officer carrying out a lawful responsibility.

“You thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 136 and 149 of the Penal Code Law, whereas, the complainant is praying the court to charge the defendant accordingly.”

We asked him what was his chances of getting the party ticket, Mr. Onyema said he’s not worried by whatever anyone is doing, that the few leaders of the party in the zone that were among those that went to purchase and present nomination form to his opponent are just a figment of the party. That majority of the people of the zone that will decide are in support of him.
He also said over the years he has never betrayed the love he has for his party the PDP but they have always ranked or advices him to allow ike ekweremmadu but never fulfilled there promises afterword.

We asked him again what if PDP fails him again?

“If I fail to get the ticket of the party in a FREE AND FAIR PRIMARIES, I will go back to my practice despite the fact that even if I win, I will continue to practice”

He said that if he had talked to Ekweremadu who is his master to step down for him because even the incumbent Governor in 2015 stepped down for Ekweremadu to return to the Senate. That he should quietly step down and bless him having served him judiciously and suffered a lot of persecution because of his loyalty to Ekweremadu.

When asked what he’s going to the Senate to do, he said he’s going to help formulate policies that will bring decorum in our society and security to the responsible citizens of the country. He said he will push “A bill for legalisation of firearms” as this will help improve the security situation of the nation.

“I have 17 bills (Which can be found on www.oauonyema.org) that are people oriented that that I will sponsor in the Senate”. “We are coming prepared because we are coming to serve”

On the possibility of him defecting to another Party, he said that it is not on his table, but if he is treated badly again in the party, he will consult his people and discuss for a way forward.

When asked the condition under which he will support Ekweremadu, Barr. Onyema said he can only support the party and by implication the Deputy Senate if he looses to him in a free and fair primary election. “My brother I will not shift ground if I loose under a free and fair primaries, I will not support any other political party.
“You know the reason? it is the same people of Enugu West that are involved in the primaries. So if I loose the primaries, it means they don’t want me and I will go home”

PRESS STATEMENT OF THE PATRIOTIC NIGERIAN YOUTHS AGAINST CORRUPTION AND SOCIAL INJUSTICE ON THE ABDUCTION/ARREST OF COMRADE EZEAGU THOMAS BY THE SENATOR REPRESENTING ENUGU NORTH SENATORIAL ZONE, SENATOR CHUKWUKA UTAZI.

Comrade Ezeagu Thomas is a social activist who has consistently brought positive changes to his immediate community through his writings on the Media. He recently engaged the senator representing him for poor representation and what he called a fraudulent empowerment program where he alleged that the senator collected money from poor constituents for a particular empowerment program and failed to later carry it out. Ezeagu Thomas dared the senator and vowed to release the list of the victims of this scam. It was at this stage that the Senator sent a text message to the comrade inviting him for clarifications on the 30th of August. On reaching the venue of the meeting on the 1st of September, the senator sent his thugs to pick Comrade Ezeagu Thomas who had before now written of a threat to his life by the senator and his hired killers. Ezeagu was held for over 20hrs without anybody hearing from him or knowing his whereabouts. It was when the senator started receiving calls from prominent personalities and fellow comrades at arms that he yielded and released a shambolic report on how he arrested Ezaegu Thomas for God knows what offence and transfered him to the anti-kidnapping unit of the Enugu police command. Despite this false claims by the senator and his evil handlers, Comr Ezeagu Thomas has not being heard from since the date of the purported arrest till now 6th September. Not even his father who is a retired senior police officer who went there on the 3rd of September and stayed at the unit from 10am of that day till 6pm was allowed to see his son. The aged father was subjected to that psychological and physical torture by the junior officers at the custody just because he demanded to at least see his son who has as at then being in the said unit for over 72hrs in without being seen or heard from. The lawyers who went there were also vigorously ignored and treated with scorn in clear breach of his fundamental rights as entrenched in the section 35 of the 1999 constitution of the federal republic. We pray that the compellable report from a source who should be in the know about their initial plan and which has it that it was a deadly armed robbers who the senator is alleged to have previously used to rig election and maim people that were sent to torture and maim the revered Comr to death so as to prevent him from exposing the scam the senator is said to have been strongly linked with and to curtail him from being in circulation so as to have a smooth ride to power in 2019 should be taken with a pinch of the salt. The report also has it that Ezeagu was seriously brutalised and nearly killed right in the torture room of the senator and when it became clear that people would revolt, they quickly bribed some officers to accept that Comr Ezeagu is in their custody so they would buy more time to enable them transfer him to a secluded hospital in Anambra state where they will treat the bruises and serious injuries he sustained from their brutality.
The patriotic Nigerian youths regrets that such a barbaric action is coming from a PDP senator, a first timer, a lawyer and the senate committee chairman on corruption. Well meaning Nigerians are in the know that the freedom of press and expression not excluding that of free speech are very pertinent to our democracy to keep the government on it's toes. We also strongly condemn any form of intolerance to opposition voice, any action to muzzle opposition voices, use instrumentalities of physical power and money to intimidate and probably shut dissenting voices. Whatever offence(s) Thomas has committed, his inalienable rights ought to have being carefully respected and for over five days now he should have been allowed access to his lawyers and family members if only the rascal of a senator who reminds Nigerians of the evil days of Mobutu Sese Seko of DR Congo has not done the worst (assassinated him).
We urge the peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who is already winning the sympathy of the youths in the build up to the 2019 general elections to immediately renounce the senator and prevail on him to as a matter of urgency, unconditionally release the victim of the Senator's highhandedness else the party will be subjected to public odium and massively ignored by the Nigerian youths as the writer cum activist enjoys a very prominent position in the rank of the youths with a cult-like supporters both nationally and internationally being a member of the Arise all African Youths, Africa And Sons Movement, Coalition of Nigerian student and youths, a prominent pioneer member of the Online media practitioners association of Nigeria (OMPAN) as well as the national secretary of patriotic Nigerian youths Against Corruption And Social Injustice.
We have also concluded plans to petition the ethics and privileges committee of the Nigerian senate and demand that the dictator of a senator is removed as the chairman of Senate committee on corruption as it is a slap on our anti-corruption crusade to have the most corrupt Nigerian occupy such a sacred position.
We are also giving the said senator Utazi 24hrs to unconditionally release Comrade Ezeagu Thomas, allow him access to lawyers and family members or arraign him before a court of competent jurisdiction or our group will liaise with other youth-based organizations and well meaning Nigerians to organize a mass protest to the Nigerian Human right commission's headquarters in Abuja, the Wadata plaza office of his party, the national assembly and as well immediately liaise with the Uzo-Uwani Youth Movement (Local government of the senator and Thomas) to immediately set the machinery in motion for his recall.
The constituents enjoyed freedom before they voted him but he has rewarded them with captivity instead of quality representation.
The national legal adviser of our group, Bar Isah Bagudu has also being detailed to immediately engage the services of Bar Festus Kenyamo SAN to initiate a fundamental rights enforcement procedure suits and press for his unconditional release.
Nobody, not even the president of the federal republic can derogate a citizen's fundamental human right in such manner with brazen impunity. We wish to also remind the senator and handlers that Nigerian is still practising constitutional democracy just as we wish to mobilise his constituents to ensure that this becomes the end of his political career and the senator does not belong to this era.

Senator Tinubu supports Ugwuanyi’s re-election bid

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has extolled the leadership virtues of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, describing him as “a very good and humble man” who she would wish to see return to office in 2019.

Senator Tinubu, who is former first lady of Lagos State and wife of national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, spoke in Enugu, when she represented President Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate the gully erosion control and road improvement works executed by the federal government at Awlaw, Orji River Local Government Area.

She expressed delight at the peaceful atmosphere in the state and the warm hospitality accorded members of the committee by Gov. Ugwuanyi, saying: “The people of Enugu State are very lucky to have you as their governor”. The senator, who told Gov. Ugwuanyi that God has already ordained his re-election, added: “I wish to see you back on the seat in 2019”.  

Senator Tinubu while inaugurating the project disclosed that it was “one of the 18 ecological intervention projects approved by Mr. President for the first quarter of 2017”, stressing that the intervention has brought a huge relief to the sufferings of the people of the community.

While appreciating the federal government for the project, Senator Tinubu also commended the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha; Gov. Ugwuanyi; the Ecological Fund Office; the Project Contractor and Consultant as well as the Traditional Ruler of Awlaw community, Igwe Samuel Uka and his people for the “timely and speedy completion of the project”.

 

In his address, Gov. Ugwuanyi expressed gratitude to President Buhari “for approving this very important project”, which he said “has not only brought succor to our people but will significantly reduce the threat posed by gully erosion and other ecological issues in this area”.

The governor also thanked Senator Tinubu and other members of her committee, including other relevant committees of the National Assembly as well as the federal ministry of Environment, the contractor and others who contributed to the success of the project.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue to “support and collaborate with the federal government and donor agencies to combat the menace of gully erosion and other ecological threats in Enugu State effectively and satisfactory”.

The permanent secretary, Ecological Fund Office, Dr. Mrs. Habiba Lawal, added that the project was initiated through “a request for urgent intervention forwarded from the Awlaw Community to the Ecological Fund Office in order to arrest the gully erosion and flooding that had been threatening lives and property in the community”.

 

The community while thanking the federal government for the project also appreciated Gov. Ugwuanyi for his commitment to the wellbeing of the people of Enugu State, saying that they were touched that he is the first governor of the state to visit the community. #amokelouis

A socio-political group in Enugu State, Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Gburugburu Canvassers, formed to drum up support for
the re-election of the Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, has called on politicians to stop distracting the member representing Nsukka/Igbo Eze South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Pat Asadu, with the 4th term bid politics so that he will concentrate on his legislative engagements and continue to represent
his constituency effectively.

The group made the statement through a release signed by its Coordinator, Comrade Willy Ugwunweze maintained that Asadu does not need the distractions making the rounds in the media space.

The group explained that Asadu who is chairing one of the most important committees at the House of Reps, ‘House Committee on Ports, Harbours and Waterways and also a key member in health related committees’, was presently faced with the burden of meeting up with the demands of rendering quality services at the green chambers and uplifting the welfare of his constituents.

They said that legislative business was more like an academic exercise which demands adequate concentration to enable one give his best and attract dividends of democracy to his people.

The group, while commending Dr. Pat Asadu on what they described as ‘effective and efficient representation’ at the national assembly, said that at the appropriate time they would champion a meeting of stakeholders of Nsukka and Igbo-Eze south LGAs respectively to address the issues surrounding the alleged 4th term bid making the rounds in the media.

“Whatever it will cost us to maintain peace in our federal constituency we must because we are one family. At the end of the day we are all going to win because we are one and indivisible people and God is involved in whatever we are doing.

“We are not going to take anybody for granted because God is behind us and we are sure of where we are going.” They maintained.

While maintaining that they were satisfied with his representation in the past 12 years, the group said that, “He has so far sponsored not less than ten bills and several motions, including a Bill for an Act to amend the River Basin Development Authority Act; A Bill to repeal the Nigeria Ports Authority Act; A Bill for the establishment of Forensic DNA Database in Nigeria; A Bill to establish the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy to provide for courses leading to the award of degrees, The University of Nigeria Nsukka amendment Bill and the recently well celebrated bill to create a Federal University of Technology out of the present IMT, Enugu.

“We can also authoritatively confirm that there are several motions to his credit. Dr Asadu is celebrated amongst his colleagues and so respected that none of his bills or motions have ever been defeated or negated since his election into the House.

“The villagers are still seeking God’s blessings upon him for the consistent free medical programme carried out by Asadu that has treated those who are not able to pay medical bills to treat complicated medical problems.

“He has been consistent in carrying out empowerment programmes, Free Medical treatments, giving scholarship grants to indigent students from within outside Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South federal constituency; he has secured employments for many youths from his constituency etc.

“It is on record that Asadu’s performances within the period he has served the people of Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South at the House of Reps cannot be compared with those who held the position in the past in his constituency and his achievements are out there for people to see.

“As regards constituency projects, Dr. Asadu who is a lover of education championed the construction and reconstruction of administrative and lecture rooms to ensure the smooth take off of the National Open University in Opi study centre, renovated structures at the Ovoko Boys Secondary school among other numerous educational development programmes in his constituency.” They explained.

The Wrong Road of Those After Hon. Dr. Patrick Asadu

When I saw a news report with the caption: "Enugu constituency urges INEC to commence recall of member" on an online journal, Everyday News Nigeria, I curiously and most excitedly moved to read through the story. My curiosity heightened when I realized who was the subject, Hon. Dr. Patrick Asadu, a member of the National Assembly representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South in the Federal House of Representatives.

However, on reading through the said story, my expectations were defeated and excitement petered out in a hopeless anticlimax. I had expected strong, logical and unimpeachable arguments to support their position, but was grossly disappointed by the intangible, untenable and sentimental songs they had waxed to hook the heart and not the head of the reader. Of course they deliberately targeted the heart because while it can be in heavy tango with sentiment, common sense does not find habitability therein. And this is a matter of common sense.

Recall of an elected representative, be it a member of the Local Legislative Council, House of Assembly or Representative, or a Senator, and its demand by constituents, are legitimate parts and parcel of our democratic process. However, these are based on the principle which strongly presupposes that an infraction, to warrant such a response from the owners of the mandate, must have occurred on the part of the exerciser of the mandate, to justify same. And this must neither be blindly speculative nor recklessly conjectual as is currently playing out. It must neither be a whimsical invention by some people whose motives are clearly suspect for a less than noble end, nor must it be an act of sentimental blackmail, as once again Hon. Dr. Asadu's case clearly is, in the lack of any shred of evidence of any wrong doing put forward by his traducers. Here, they did not mention any one single offence let alone one that is plausible, even as it would be subjected to further scrutiny as is wont in cases like this.

Besides, there is something almost mischievous in the casting of the headlines, in the way an act of three persons was deliberately misrepresented to create a wrong and misleading impression, that is, of a whole constituency standing up to speak against Dr. Asadu. While no one is querying their rights to speak, it is morally wrong to deliberately mislead the public to believe that a whole constituency was on its feet, on a gale force move, to withdrew their representative from the federal house. Of course, while three may be a number, it couldn't have been the number that had repeatedly elected Dr. Asadu to represent them as he marvelously does.

Having said this, the three who were obviously speaking for some hidden sponsors had failed woefully when after much ramblings they could not put forward any alleged crime, no matter how minor, committed by Hon. Dr. Patrick Asadu. They also claimed to have passed a vote of no confidence on him, for no other reason than that he had expressed his desire to seek reelection. This is ridiculously preposterous.

So, Dr. Asadu must be stripped of his rights and run out of town even when he didn't do anything wrong, and on the wheels of sentiment, just to pave way for their candidate they obviously knew would not stand a fair chance against his wealth of experience, sterling performance as a ranking legislator, and popularity, among the people who have not only followed with pride his inspired performances in the hallowed green chambers of the National Assembly, but have also benefited immensely from his numerous people oriented constituency projects and extra legislative charity works.

Asadu is just being blackmailed for seeking another stint in the Federal House. Simple. And one is forced to ask what is wrong with his aspiration? Is it against any known law of the land? Of course not any I know of. Rather, the constituency stand to gain everything in re-electing Dr. Patrick Asadu, who knows the intricate business and nitty gritty of law making and have mastered the ability, skill and art required to navigate the precarious and murky waters of the peculiar Nigerian representative democracy, at its major convergence at the federal level, where one must know and be known to have a voice. Dr. Asadu is an advantage on this as he knows and is well known. He can not be intimidated or be shunted into one oblivious and miserable corner to await his monthly allowances. His voice must be heard as always, on issues of importance to the nation and his constituency.

While people have the rights to aspire into any political office of their choices they are qualified for, including the seat Dr. Asadu occupies, there is no way experience traded for selfish sentiments, in favour of a neophyte, is better in the overall and long-term interest of the people.
It is not for nothing that employers ask for experienced hands of those they seek to engage. And like in Dr. Asadu's case, his people know one cannot buy experience from any market beyond who has it and knows how to most productively deploy it as he does, as he will continue to give them their prominent and effective representation in that unique ways only an experienced player can. And on their laughable demands to be shown the bills he has initiated, and the constituency projects he has executed, one can only say that these trio, in their hurry to smear Dr. Asadu at all cost, forgot to count these, or conveniently looked the other way as these are all comminly on record and visible in the public space.

Finally, an individual's denial does not affect the empirical existence of a self evident truth. That they had merely chosen to hide away from the effervasence of the moon neither removes it from the sky nor keeps it's light from illuminating the world for the rest. Hon. Dr. Patrick Asadu has been illuminating his constituency with the light of the best of his knowledge and experience. And as a seasoned and ranking legislator, he would be no less telling than before.

ARISE ALL AFRICA YOUTH has asked the former president that he too should go and rest called and called for caution especially among youth in respect to the recent press release by chief Obasanjo, maintaining that he too should leave Nigeria alone because he is part of the rot in Nigeria.

In a release after it Supreme Council meeting, in Abuja, the Noble Youth Organization of Africa a.k.a ARISE ALL AFRICA YOUTH maintained that the former president Olusegun Obasanjo who is a two time Nigeria Head of state has every needed opportunity to developed Nigeria but failed to do so.

Speaking to Newsmen in Abuja, Fellow Johnmartins Chiedozie Ugwu, the Chancellor of the radical youth organization made up of young African graduates, said that while he share some of the opinion of the elder stateman, he stated that it is quiet unfortunate that Chief Obasanjo who has resorted to ‘letter writing’ has no moral justification or legal standing to ask anyone not to contest election.

Fellow Johnmartins Chiedozie Ugwu, who is the former international President of African Students For Peace And Dev. (www.allafricanstudents.org) told newsmen that the today Nigeria needs people who mean and express goodness in their words and deeds. if such noble role model set the example for their fellow beings, the darkness prevailing in today’s Nigeria will be dispelled, and the light of peace and non-violence including development and poverty eradication will once again illumine our country.

In his words, those who would transform a nation or the world cannot do so by breeding and captaining discontent or by demonstrating the reasonableness and desirability of the intended changes or by coercing people to turn against their leader in such sudden manner. They must know how to kindle and fan an extravagant hope for the nation. It matters not whether it is hope of a heavenly kingdom, of heaven on earth, of plunder and untold riches, of fabulous achievement or world dominion, all that matters is that Nigeria and Africa need peace. Nigerians are not wheel barrow that Chief Obasanjo will be pushing around on every election year.

To Fellow youth, the Veteran Comrade, Johnmartins Chiedozie Ugwu who is also co-founder of African Students Movement (AFRSITSUM) said that youth have to be wise and not to allow any of them be used as an instrument of violence or for any body’s selfish ambition. In his words “Violence to the best of my knowledge is the most serious danger facing human civilization in Africa especially Nigeria. The situation in African countries has proved to satisfaction that human consequences of violence are always incalculable and are never positive as most leaders predicted. It is far better for countries in Africa especially here in Nigeria to allow rational peaceful resolution of conflict by unbiased arbitration rather than resulting to war, violence and destructiveness. Therefore it is ultimately destructive and any benefits that accrue from it are accidental, temporal and pale into utter insignificant when compare to what has been destroyed. For those beating war drum across the country he added, only you and your people are the ones to die and not the arm manufacturers. The people you are looking up to for help, will be happy to sell their arms. A devastated and impoverished Africa is to the advantage of the West who manufactures these arms, hard fact.

It is important to remind our leaders of the fierce urgency of now. This is not the time to engage in luxury of cooling off or take the tranquillizing drug of gradualism. This is the time to fulfill the dream of our founding fathers. Now is the time to rise from the dark desolate valley of corruption, war, and political violence to the sunlit path of justice and rule of law.

This is time when African children and her people will feel the impact of their wealthy leaders and the endowed natural resources instead of being subjected to life in penury and poverty in the midst of vast material prosperity. Now is the time to make justice and rule of law a reality to all African children.
The ugly situation in Africa has reached its zenith apogee where concerted efforts should be made among youths in Africa towards ensuring radical changes which will give level playing ground for African youths, irrespective of place of origin.
