How far will technology go? This is the exact question i asked myself when i got the news of a ”30- Second” charger that’s been developed. Sounds impossible , right? StoreDot , an israel based startup , recently unveiled a ”30-Second” Charger at Microsoft’s Think Next conference held on monday in Tel- Aviv , Israel. According To StoreDot ,this charger is capable of charging a smartphone from 0%-100% within Just ”30- Seconds” after it is connected to a smartphone. How Is This Possible? The startup is working with tiny particles of an organic material called peptides, which are molecules of amino acids, the building blocks of all life. (StoreDot’s research is based on discoveries made by scientists at the Tel Aviv University that were studying Alzheimer’s disease.) Peptides self-assemble in tiny spheres of about 2 nanometers in diameter that exhibit some remarkable properties, including the ability to store a lot of energy for a brief period. StoreDot essentially found an affordable and efficient way to create organic quantum dots. You may already be familiar with quantum dots from Sony’s Triluminos technology present in the Xperia Z Ultra, Z1, and Z2, which allows the display to show richer colour compared to regular LCD. But Sony’s inorganic quantum dots are toxic, expensive, and hard to manufacture. StoreDot doesn’t have the same drawbacks. What StoreDot did is create a battery made of alternating layers of organic quantum dots and conventional lithium electrodes. Acting like a supercapacitor, the organic layers are able to store energy in as little as 30 seconds, and then slowly release it to the lithium layers. From there, the device draws the energy it needs from the lithium layers, just like on a regular battery. Source - http://techageek..com/2014/08/storedot-charger-fully-recharges-your.html?m=1

An earthquake shook buildings in Johannesburg and surrounding areas in South Africa's most populous province on Tuesday. The magnitude-5.3 quake was centered in Orkney, 170 kilometers (105 miles) southwest of Johannesburg, the U.S. Geological Survey said. Lindy Sirayi, a guesthouse owner in Orkney, said the tremor broke glass lampshades and cracked awall, and that dogs started barking during the quake, which lasted about a minute. She said she received a telephonecall informing her that two people were injured at a nearby mine. Aftershocks were felt, but the electricity in the guesthouse stayed on, Sirayi said. There are gold-mining operations in Orkney. Quakes are a concern to mining companies that operate around Johannesburg, the biggest city in Gauteng province. Mining is atraditional pillar of industry inSouth Africa. The quake was also felt in Pretoria, the South African capital, and Hartbeespoort, a nearby resort town. The area has periodic, moderatetremors, though the quake on Tuesday was one of the strongest in recent years. SouthAfrican friends said they were looking and searching under their beds to find out the cause of their bed movement.....Some thought the tremor was their imagination..

Didier Drogba made a first appearance since re-signing for Chelsea but his side lost 3-0 to Werder Bremen in Germany. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made his Blues' debut at the Weserstadion. The 22-year-old Belgian joined Chelsea in 2011 but has spent the past three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid. Penalties from Eljero Elia and Felix Kroos and a header from Ludovic Obraniak gave the Bundesliga side the win. The home side were awarded a penalty for a John Terry handball and went ahead when Elia scored from the spot. Elia then picked out the unmarked Obraniak and he headed past Courtois to make it 2-0 before half-time. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho brought Drogba on for the second half, the Ivorian's first outing for Chelsea since their Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich in 2012. Eden Hazard and John Obi Mikel also played their first minutes of pre-season, with Petr Cech replacing Courtois in goal for the second half. Kroos rounded off the victory on 89 minutes, converting from the spot after Nathan Ake had given away a penalty. Werder Bremen: Wolf, Garcia, Caldirola, Galvez, Lukimya, Obraniak, Fritz, Di Santo, Elia, Junuzovic, Bartels. Substitutes: Strebinger, Husic, Makiadi, Ekici, Hajrovic, Kroos, Kobylanski, Aycicek. Chelsea: Courtois, Azpi, Zouma, Terry, Luis, Van Ginkel, Matic, Salah, Fabregas, Torres, Costa. Subs: Cech, Ivanovic, Ake, Hazard, Mikel, Drogba, Cahill, Chalobah, Baker, Christensen, Boga, Solanke. http://sportgenio..com

Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by Monaco as Valencia won the Emirates Cup. Colombian striker Radamel Falcao scored the only goal of the game, converting a free header from the edge of the six-yard box just before half-time. The Gunners, who miss out on winning their home tournament for the first time in four years, felt they should have been awarded a late penalty. Summer signings Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers made their first starts for Arsenal. Having won 5-1 against Benfica in their first match, Arsenal struggled against the Ligue 1 outfit and created little in the way of clear-cut chances, with Sanchez rarely on the ball. Falcao, starting a game for the first time since a serious knee injury in January, opened the scoring on 37 minutes. Arsenal substitute Chuba Akpom was brought down by visiting goalkeeper Danijel Subasic as he burst into the box, only for referee Martin Atkinson to award a free-kick rather than a penalty - despite replays showing the foul was clearly inside the area. Spanish side Valencia won the tournament after coming from behind to beat Portugal's Benfica 3-1 in Sunday's early kick-off. Arsenal: Szczesny, Debuchy, Chambers, Koscielny, Monreal, Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla, Sanchez, Giroud. Subs: Martinez, Miquel, Hayden, Bellerin, Coquelin, Flamini, Oxlade- Chamberlain, Zelalem, Akpom. Monaco: Subasic, Dirar, Carvalho, Raggi, Echiejile, Bakayoko, Kondogbia, Carrasco, Joao Moutinho, Ocampos, Falcao. Subs: Caillard, Fabinho, Abdennour, Berbatov, Germain, Isimat Mirin, Martial, Toulalan, Bahamboula, Diallo. http://sportgenio..com/

Real Madrid have signed Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas on a six-year deal. Navas was a star performer for his country in Brazil this summer as they reached the quarter-finals of the Fifa World Cup for the first time. The 27-year-old moves to the Santiago Bernabeu from La Liga side Levante. It is believed the European champions were required to pay £7.9m to Levante to activate the keeper's release clause. Navas will be presented to the club's fans at the Bernabeu on Tuesday after undergoing a medical. A statement published on Real's official website on Sunday evening read: "Real Madrid CF and Levante UD have reached an agreement over the transfer of Keylor Navas, who will be tied to the club for the next six seasons." The keeper is the third player to join the European champions this summer after the signings of German World Cup winner Toni Kroos and Columbian forward James Rodriguez. Navas will provide competition for Spanish keepers Iker Casillas and Diego Lopez.
