Dear OP, Please try to study yourself to know your best period for reading and assimilating because they are two different things. Set your reading time table to that period that you can read and assimilate best, and your sleeping period to when you cant asimillate well . Be careful not to play away your period of assimilation with friends gisting or online chatting. Dont ever read in the night if your brain cant accept night reading. Don't even bother yourself reading after stressing yourself too much nor after taking heavy food like eba. Go to any secret place of your choice but not necessarily a library, It can be at the extreme of your school or the back of any lecture theatre, go with pure water because reading is a thirsty task, stand up to read, walk up and down while reading, say what you are reading out so that your ear can hear it and you wont forget easily, write down what you have assimilated in a separate note and compare it with the materials that you read for necessary corrections. Always drop your browshing phone in your hostel and go with your nokia phone just for calling purpose so as to avoid unneccessary distraction, Dont invite friends to your reading arena, Pray to your God before reading at anyday or time. I would just add to what others have said.

You may need to write the PGRE (Physics GRE) as well, as it will bolster your chances of full funding even at MSc. level.

With your CGPA, you can aim high and apply to 2 top schools then balance it with moderates because they usually have a higher chance of funding for obvious reasons. (I recommend College of Williams and Mary, Virginia, to be on your shortlist and UIUC). Look them up.

Although, you won't be judged so much on the Verbal and AWA, it will stand you out better if you do well in them.

As for your Q, I expect a full 170 from you. You should not be surprised at that, I know you are a mathematician. You should understand by now.

Look at fall 2019 more just like reDazey said. Most schools are done with their fall 2018 admits.

Edit: Why not also consider direct PhDs? Many US programs consider MS/PhDs for 5 years. You can get in.

You have got a very nice undergraduate profile.

However, getting into an Msc physics program will depend on your undergraduate transcripts and the schools you are interested in. Most graduate programs in physics require that you have undergrad knowledge of Classical Mechanics, Quantum Physics, Statistical Mechanics and Electrodynamics. Also, you need to inquire from graduate coordinators of the schools you are applying so that you can know where you stand before applying.

As a rule of thumb, it is expected that you prepare for graduate school at least one year ahead of your proposed study semester. I can see you haven't written the GRE or TOEFL which will make it very difficult to get a nice school for Fall 18. Therefore, I will advise you take your test and focus on Fall 19.

As a physicist, you could search for school on: www.gradschoolshopper.com , here, you would seen different programs categorized according to acceptance rates, financial aid package, GRE/TOEFL requirement amongst others. This website is a very powerful tool for prospective graduate physics students.

From my understanding of BSC (Ed) Physics, your transcripts should bear more of Physics courses than Education courses. And that, is enough to get you admission into about 70% of US schools. There is almost no difference, your physics are the same as other BSC holders, just that yours was tailored towards teaching it. So, you are good to go. You can check schools like UTEP, ETSU, CLEVELAND ST UNI, UTA, MONTANA etc or use:

You have a good CGPA and a decent publication record. Also, you studied a well-funded course. Forget the education in the name. It is the USA, not Nigeria, where unnecessary discriminations occur. So yes, you can apply for Physics(MSc). Just research the programs you want to apply to and check out their GRE requirement but aim high. I will advise you to write TOEFL if you require funding. BTW, I think it is too late to shoot for fall 2018 unless you have plans to fund yourself. All the best.
