Good one and congrats to the south east!
Though I use to feel happy anytime I see an Igbo man prospering and I use to feel terrible anytime Ndigbo is victimized because in my community, we see them as brothers and we use to help each other. We also use to fight at times anyway hahahaha. I enjoyed our relationship.
But as I traveled from my village, I discovered that we're the only ones seeing Ndigbo as brothers, they practically see abo Igala as enemies.
In Lagos, while Igalas will prefer Igbos to Yoruba, Igbos prefer Yoruba to Igala.

Umuopu is an Igala speaking community in Enugu State o. As at the time I was there, they mainly speak Igala except if they have changed overtime. That village is trekkable to my village in Kogi. You can visit Umuopu and see for yourself o before you want to call for my execution. God forbid.

Culture / Re: The Igala People In Anambra State by steveaj(m): 1:09pm On Jun 20, 2020
bigfrancis21:

I am quite aware of Igala residents in Anambra state who migrated to live in Anambra state. But what I have issue with is claiming areas they settled on as 'Igala' towns as if they met the towns empty when they arrived there.

There is a difference between acknowledging the presence of a people in an area as migrant vs recognition of a people as natives/aboriginals. The Igalas living in Anambra state are not natives but only migrants owing to the proximity of Igala land to Anambra north. Not one major contribution have they made to Anambra state only but crave the recognition of Anambra state as partly Igala state. In my opinion, that does not make sense. If they care so much about their ancestry, they can return to Kogi where they came from.
Those people you call migrants, do they have a land there? If they're Igalas and most land in that village belong to them what do u call the land? Either they migrated there or not, are they indigenes now? Why do u talk as if you're ethnocentric chauvinistic? You're no more in the stone age buddy. If there're Igala communities in Anam-Omambala state, it's the glory of the state. What do u think is the advantage of having a homogeneous state? Every part of the world including the Americas boast of their boast of their diversity, but here you are trying to turn a heterogeneous community to a homogeneous one. What do you stand to gain? Most people in Nzam are of Igala origin who now speak Igbo because of their constant long term romance with Igbo people. We cannot say Nzam is an Igbo land neither can we say Nzam is Igala land but the fact which is indisputable is, Nzam is 1. A mixed community 2. In Anambra state. Wait, with all these efforts you spent arguing this thing, are they taking any tribute from Nzam to Idah? Bro, try to act like someone in a modern day na. We're no more in stone age. Be proud that Anambra is heterogeneous buddy.

Culture / Re: Igbo Speaking Communities In Kogi State by steveaj(m): 1:40pm On Jan 21, 2020
bigfrancis21:
While much is known about the Igbo-speaking communities outside the SE, such as in Benue state (the Umuezekaoha people numbering over 300 villages), in Delta State (the Aniomas), Rivers state (Obigbos, Eches etc.), Akwa Ibom etc., very little is known about the Igbo-speaking communities in Kogi state especially in Ibaji and Igalamela/Odolu LGAs such as the Eke Avurugo community (which speaks Igbo as first language and Igala as second language). Going through the list of Kogi communities found here: http://xa.yimg.com/kq/groups/1249765/1645681001/name/Kogi+East+locailties+working+paper.doc,

one could find a handful of communities which strongly seem to be Igbo communities going by their names, despite the similarities between Igbo and Ibaji Igala names/words,: Ugwuebonyi, Ebokwe, Ozara, Amaeke, Amankpo, Amauwani camp, Amaokwu, Amadiefioha, Amaufulu, etc. all in Igalamela/Odolu LGA. The Odolu community in Igalamela/Odolu LGA is said to speak Igala as first language and the Nsukka Igbo dialect as second language. In Ibaji LGA, we can see some town names such as Nwajala, Umuoye, Ubulie-Umueze which are, most definitely, Igbo community names. One obvious distinguishing factor between Igbo language and Igala is the lack of 'z' in Igala alphabet which is present in Igbo, which possibly rules out an Igala origin for some towns such as Ozara, Umueze etc.

Akpanya is an Igbo-speaking community located deep in the heartland of Igala land. Very little is known about this town. About 95% of the people speak Igbo/are Igbo natives. The town also houses majority of Igbo muslims from Igboland.

Igalaland uses the 4 native Igbo calendar days of Eke, Oye, Afor and Nkwo which are Eke, Ede, Afor and Ukwor in Igala land.

Anyone residing in/close to these areas or living in Kogi to tell us what the situation is on ground?

PS: I have attached below snapshots from the document, highlighting the communities that strongly seem to be Igbo in origin. The ground is open for healthy discussion.

from the screenshot by the man from Avrugo, it's clear Avrugo is Igala land but having heavy Igbo presence. You can even see his name (Amedu) which is a common name in Igala land.
Most times when Igalas marry Igbo ladies, the Igbo ladies will always want to speak Igbo to the children and Igalas like Igbo ladies a lot. You know many of them are fair, with Barcelona and Manchester United. The past is heavy and their future is wow! with full onshore offshore dichotomy. Because of this a lot of Igalas at bother towns always go after them and after marrying them, the Igala men will give them the best of love and will not want to disturb them regardless of any language they speak to their kids. This makes a lot of Igbo speaking Igalas to be in so many Igala communities.
Well concerning the names of those towns, OK can you tell me what ENUGU mean in Igbo? What's Oweri or Imo in Igbo. The name of the town doesn't mean anything. What's important is the people living there and the people who have rights to land in that place. What is Idah or Anyigba or Ankpa or Olumbanasa in Igala? Are those lands not Igala? What's Lagos, Ibadan, Ondo etc in Yoruba? Are those places not Yoruba land
The names of the town doesn't mean anything but the people in it.

Culture / Re: Names Of Past And Present Attah Igala by steveaj(m): 3:23pm On Oct 07, 2019
greatjoey:

Igala has no dynasty from Bini. Igala fought Bini and conquered. As a sign of defeat and humilaition, Igala collected what the present Attah Igala uses on his neck called ' Eju ki a b'eju ailo', which can be translated as 'An eye that sets fear to other eyes'. Ayegba was the Atah Igala then. He also fought and conquered the Jukum, and defeated Queen Amina of Zaria and had her buried at Ida. This gave Igala an absolute independence till the British coquered them between 1880-1901
Igala didn't actually defeated the Benin warriors but it was the toughest battle Igala fought. The first phase of the battle when Igala had upper hand was when the "eju ch'egahi" was taken to Idah. Even though Igala had upper hand in the first phase of the battle, it'll be wrong to say Igala had victory.
After the first battle which Igala went to Benin to fight, Benin also mustered all his army with aids from the Portuguese who gave him sophisticated weapons not available to Igala. With that, the battle became too tough for both sides but due to heavy casualties, Igalas were not willing to fight further. When Benin discovered that Igala wasn't willing to fight further, they increased their attacks, thinking they will conquer Idah, set the city on fire and take everyone as slaves. Igalas knew of this plot and they have to end the war once and for all. With that, Inikpi Odo abola bobolo was sacrificed, she was buried alive with 9 maids. After the sacrifice was accepted, the Benin soldiers retreated by themselves. Nobody knows what they saw but I'm sure that whatever they saw inflicted heavy casualties on them because after the war, no Benin man steps on Igala soil again though Igalas do go there.
It was a no Victor no vanquish situation. If Igalas had won, Benin would have been Igala land today, if Benin won, they won't be Igala land today. It was a war of mutual independence.
Surely, if the Portuguese did help Oba of Benin, ten of Benin wouldn't have been able to stop Igala. But due to foreign weapons involved, and because of the love Attah had for his people, he wasn't willing to allow them to be killed further. Even though the Benin were also losing soldiers in dross.

Sports / Re: Petition To Ban Lionel Messi For Champions League ‘Punch’ Passes 3,500 Signature by steveaj(m): 7:30pm On May 07, 2019
prodigyhenry:

I just knew I would find you maaturbating here. You claim Messi is an arrogant and aggressive player yet for a player who has been playing highly professional football for the past 15 years and all his offenses that you counted are not up to ten. Doesn't that actually show otherwise?. Messi is the most fouled and tackled player yet he hardly loses his temper, sometimes he gats as much as 15 tackles in one game. Do you think it is easy to keep your cool as a player in such situations. Or do we count how many times Ronaldo has fought his opponents and even teammates.. dude Messi is still the most patient and meekest player in world football today
One common thing about messi and barca supporters is:
1. They lie a lot. Ronaldo and messi who is more tackled? All the messi dribbling you people always talk about is just because players avoid him in order not to be carded. Ronaldo who is the master of dribbling and leg over stopped dribbling in other to avoid injuries since he will be brought down and no foul will be given. In fact, Ronaldo will be brought down and a foul will be called against him.
2. They insult a lot. Whatever makes you not to share their views, the next thing is insults and name calling. See how the writer I quoted started his comment.
3. They don't always have any point that can convince a person other than forcing the person to accept their views. So, somebody played for 15 years and have committed all these atrocities yet he's a saint Zidane had only one record of violence and it got him red card. Kanu had only one record of violence when he slapped that Lesotho player at warri. Okocha had no record of such, Alonso Xabi had none of such record and the list goes on. No be ball those one play
4. The only thing they will see is what will exonerate messi. The highest joke of the millennium is for anyone to attempt to say messi didn't punch Fabinho and intentionally jump into him to fake the ref. Even messi himself will find it difficult to deny such obvious fact.
So long as this Argentine dwarf/tout/fraudster continue to come to the pitch, football cannot be enjoyed.
Just tell me why messi was never successful in Argentina in spite of the fact that Argentina squad is full of world class players?
If that dwarf is not a fraudster, let him go and try his luck outside like every other players. Barca fans are so credulous that they could be deceived into believing, messi is a good footballer and for many years hasn't achieved anything for his country. The year messi resigns -true resignation and not like his early fraudulent resignation - from international football, Argentina will win cup. His ill luck will continue to follow Argentina.
Oya barca fans, let the insults begin to flow now. I doff my heart for u.

Education / Re: Prof. Gabriel Oyibo (GAGUT Theorem): Mad man or Genius by steveaj(m): 7:33am On Aug 20, 2010
Personally I don't like anyone comparing himself with God and I hate to see anyone saying I am closer to God. Our God is so awesome that the distance between him and man is awesome and wonderful. The fact is, Gabriel Oyibo is a Genius and not a mad man.
It is up to us to enthrone his theorem and benefit more from it. Lets lay aside sentiment and racial chauvinism or some personal jingoism.
I think Harold's point is cleared; rather than engaging ourselves in an unpopular squabble or altercation, let us dig deep into his work and utilize our findings for our own Benefit. That is the only answer to our question.
The Prof is a great man there is no doubt about that. Great men only do great things. Let us pray to have more of such men in the universe.
I also think some of us that are full of criticism are yet to read through. I would admonish you to intensify your researches and not to be making noise around a single phrase you come across. Such phrase you know, don't make Emeagwali Or Oyibo as the case may be. It is through a combination of several phrases that you can get a whole truth.
It is also funny to see black men against themselves because of a fellow black man. Is it not better you give Oyibo a constructive criticism where needed to make him better rather than condemning him?
Lastly, get to know this fact, that a single man has been discussed in this forum for several years and contributions from millions of people: There is no doubt, he is a great man and I pray my own work should also gain such popularity.
Steve
