mayor2013:Oga Mayor2013 pls how do i solve the lens issue |
smellingmenses:Hahahaha my boss you right.Times are hard. I will soon be joining the Nissan Micra bandwagon but that is after I have solved this sound system problem. |
Please to all audio expert in the house or for those who had similar experience before. I am having this problem with my Bose car stereo for Nissan Maxima 04. While Playing CD sometimes the volume suddenly goes very low. Even if I raised the volume to the highest. Sometimes it might come back sometimes it wont. What surprises me is that this only happens with CD. While playing radio the speaker sounds fine. Please what could be the issue? Help needed. |
When has Turkey in Asia become part of Europe. This Turkey self being trying to lobby into Europe since 1200 AD. |
Really!!! Any further informations? |
baaliyah:Not the best way to luk at issues & problems which I will rather call challenges. Granted some nuts can be hard to crack, but the determined mind will surely get them cracked. Problems are meant to be solved. If the good old white folks have been running away from problem at the first sight of it we wont even have cars today to start with. Benz, Daimler, Ford all went through a lot to put us on the wheels. My tot anyway. |
FullDepth1:I no fit ohhh!! Dem be oga patapata. Small boy no fit luk him elder face. If I cum get problem where n who u wan make I ran go. Oga Gazzuz n Oga Costee I beg ohh |
GAZZUZZ:This is so because a lot of people dont simply understand this car. This car should never be treated as the Toyotas of these world. It is much more sensitive and should be handled as such. It's also more electronically advanced and beautiful than its Toyota contemporary( based on year of manufacture) I am sure SultanofBrunei did not follow the maintenance schedule from the stable of Nissan. I am just going that document now.( there is a different bulletin specifically for apart from owner manual and service manuals) . It stated explicitly what and what to check and replace at different Odometer readings and several other things. Going through all these I am sure most Nigerians will be guilty. I am too. If these are religiously followed there shouldn't be much problem . Costee can testify it. The last that do kill these cars faster than death itself is our own Naija KAZEEMs and even more dangerously now the NEW REPACKED/GLORIFIED KAZEEMs. These are the normal Kazeems that now pose around with Scanning tools forming professional. Once these two set of guys get onto your Maxima just forget it. You need divine intervention to restore it back to normal and even if you eventually do your pocket will be extremely drained. These guys understanding of the car is below zero. From experience when most of them open the car bonnet they normally shout " Chaii I no no wetin Oyinbo biuild for here ohh.) because of the space constraint in the car under hood Well I dont blame them when our mighty oga Gazzuz self dey run ![]() Still comin more tips to follow |
mayor2013:Thanks Mayor2013 for the advice. If you are talking about the intake valve timing control Solenoid, I have already changed that. But I was told the code P0021 is not really for the intake valve timing control solenoid( code 4 dat is P1111 or P1136 bank 1 n 2) . |
Chuxxy4me:Waoo this is an eye opener!!! Thanks for the info. Is there an way one can physically differentiate them? |
Hello guys in the house. My Mechanic finally called he has solved the P0021 code trouble. ![]() Though I havent seen the car yet. The only issue is now is that I need to buy Oxygen sensor for the two banks making a total number of four Oxygen sensor and connectors. The prices I am getting for them now is not pocket friendly especially during this CHANGE time. One more last thing is there any different between Heated oxygen sensor and A/F sensor on Nissan Maxima? Do Maxima 2004 have two A/F sensors and two Heated oxygen sensors ? I need to know this so I no what to buy. |
Please guru in the house I also have this same hard starting issue. I have changed the two camshaft sensors and the crankshaft sensor but it still exhibiting the hard starting behaviour, longer cranking time etc. I have scanned the car the only relevant code it gave is P0021: Intake Valve timing control Performance Bank 2. The other codes are heated oxygen sensor related codes. The car is d same Nissan Maxima 2004 as the OP. Please your help will be highly appreciated. |
leftone:Sounds like Nisspart. He did something similar to me. He always take the car to one mechanic or the other to fix. Though the car was kinda fixed but I paid high heavens because he marked up prices to high heavens. he said he bought power steering pump toks for N40K! When the miraculous N40K steering pump later gave way, I went to ladipo myself and bought it at the rate of N8K with guarantee and it works fine. Even people are saying I can get it cheaper if i had priced it more. I later learned from one of the mechanic workshop he took me to that he is a lawyer by profession! I am not saying Nisspart is good or not but he should stop this habit of charging people excessively especially pple in desperate position. Imagine he charges N10K before he can even look at your car when there re pple here on nairaland like Gazzuz, Mayor etc offering free scan and diagnosis. I hope this piece wont be deleted again. |
This is just stupid as it sounds. Why must everything about Nigeria financial sector be Lagos ? A country of several millions people with 36 states has only one viable city !!! Why cant we have several other Lagos's around the country to seriously depopulate Lagos. The south east, south south are wonderful regions to develop so that people from all regions of Nigeria can start going to those places. Pat Utomi once said this. This utopian plan overwhelm Lagos with so many things is practically senseless. People should stop coming to Lagos people shld move to other regions that is the only thing that make economic sense not to overwhelm the state with population explosion and now start using billions of naira to build skytran, monorail, subway etc. |
I am in need of quality Nissan Maxima oil filter like Bosch etc. A lot fakes out there. I was surprised today when I went out to market. They were telling me there is fake and there is original one. So how do one know the real one now. |
Please house I really need to get these brands of engine oil specially designed for high mileage cars. I am aware Mobil has the range of brand they call Mobil Super High Mileage available in 5w-30, 10w-30 etc. I no Castrol GTX has too. Any help will really be appreciated. |
mayor2013:Thanks so much Mayor2013. Yea I have changed the solenoid valve but no changes. Changed all Camshaft pos sensors and crankshaft pos sensor. The car is a bit old '04 maxima with slightly over 200k miles. and a V6. The solenoid specified is bank 2 |
cocoduck:The manual states; 5w-30 for all temp. 10w-30 or 10w-40 for ambient temp that will be above 0 degress. And it recommend mineral oil. But I have been reading reviews for high mileage cars should use higher viscosoity oil. Though there re some engine oil specifically designed for high mileage cars but I doubt if that will be in Nigeria |
mayor2013:Hmmmm Mayor 2013. Is this suppose to be a warning ? I prefer you giving som ideas I no your are an expect when it comes to this. Not only the money ( which in my opinion looks too much, given that this is Buhari era no more cash in d system now) I also said the car has been sitting in the guys shop for close to a 4 weeks now. So Mayor pls give some expert advice you be oga. What is your opinion in switching to synthetic oil, the mechanic is suggesting that too. The car has been on XHP since. |
cocoduck:It has been there since after I changed the oil last time that was couple of months ago. It also comes with hard starting. Besides the guy is suggesting changing to synthentic oil. I have had the car on Mobil XHP 20w-50 since. |
dharmeel:The guy number is 08028288262. |
Costee:Thanks Costee. The Sol valve installed is Toks. I have also recently changed the two cam sensors and the crankshaft sensor (though they all toks) cause the car is also doing hard starting. New Camshaft sprocket? Never heard of that . Pls Costee how will these be done? I await your answer. Also the mechanic is suggesting a switch to synthentic oil. I have been on Mobil XHP since. |
dharmeel:The guy number is 08028288262. He is a very gud guy with Nissans though you may have to be patience with him when it comes to time. |
femi9naija:Just wait till it develop a little issue.Just pray you get a super gud automech, they have to be to handle Nissan Altima/ Maxima repairs. All these our crappy mechanics will compound the issues and the good automechanics will simply run away from it, they prefer working Toyotas which is far way easier to fix. One thing you will notice about the car is when you open the bonnet, it is full up hardly any space in the engine area to maneuver and most mechanics usually shout when they see this. So in trying to fix things most of them will damage other things definitely they wont tell u. You will get to notice later. For example when I wanted to change my steering rack. I got some guys to do it. thinking is just a replacement job. the 1st complain about the engine not having space to work. Infact I regretted at the end of the day because they damaged a lot of things. |
Please I need help on how to solve this Maxima code. I have cleared the code it came back I have also changed the solenoid valve, the code did not go. My mechanic said he will fix it. He told me he will try some things until he gets it, that if I change 100 solenoid valves it will be thesame. He is charging me 25K for the fix cus he said it is a tough work to do. The car has been with him now for close to 4 weeks. The last time I checked on him, he has the timing chain cover opened down. Really dont know what to do. He is the only one in d past that have been able to successfully solve my issues on d maxima. All othe mechanics I have used in the past usually leave the worse off than we I gave it to them. But I guess the N25K is asking is way too much plus the time frame. |

I have this to say abt Nissan cars esp Altima/Maxima early millinuem edition ( 01-06) because I bought Nissan maxima 04 as my 1st car. At 1st as som1 rightly pointed out here they re more fanciful and comes wit a lot of features & options than Camry n Corolla of their equivalent year. However maintenance and repairs are big problem and headache. From my own experience: Due to some small noises from around the front area of the car, some funny half-baked Mechanics nearly spoil the engine. They compounded the problem so much that the car started doing overheating and they blew the brain-box. The engine that was so gud before suddenly start tapping. it got to a point I have to make an outcry here on Nairaland and people recommended Nisspart a popular guy here on nairaland that has a Nissan thread. But he too suddenly took advantage of the situation (though he solved the problem to a large extent) and charged me unbelievably too high and made me pay thru my nose but I have no option but to just pay him because I was desperate to get the car back to pristine state. He first said for him to accept the car I have to pay N10K He also said he paid rewire almost N40k to get the new brainbox bought to communicate wit scanning device There was a time he said he bought power steering pump for N40k and also at one point he said he bought temp switch that controls the start and stop of the engine fan N10K !! It was so terrible that I spent close to N200K . I ran away from Nisspart after that. Since that sad experience I have come to the following conclusions: - I have discovered they re few guys( Mechanics) who actually understand deeply how to properly diagnose and solve the car problems. Some good mechanics people here on nairaland recommends actually run away from it. The truthful ones there will tell u that the car is not easy to fix. - One need to look hard for Nissan expect automechanic. I finally got one who understands the car like back of his hands and can fix the car very well also his price is a whole lot cheaper than Nisspart but he delays on job. He is always very late on job delivery. - The car has to be carefully managed and driven with utmost care. It is not the kind of car ones rocks and knocks around like the Toyotas of t these world. it is better use by people who dont drive around frequently and will be a perfect car for a second or alternative car. Definitely not for a rough rider because any fault it developed is whole lot of money and headache. It is not a car one give out to friend to drive around you will regret that decision. If one keeps to all these one will enjoy the ride. |
