Okay so I have a Nissan Maxima 2004 and recently it began to stop running while driving.

This has only happened to me while driving less the 25mph never in the freeway.

So Im driving and the car stops running immediately, so it won't accelerate or anything it just stops and the wheel turns really hard and the check engine lights up. But the car is still on like the radio is still playing so I have to put the car to park and turn off the car and turn it on again and it works.

The car is also exhibiting hard starting.

When it was scanned the following codes were pulled from it P1168, P0340, P0037, P0057, P0328, P1051.

The mechanic said it is the camshaft sensor. P0340. When the sensor was changed the car stops the issue. Then after sometimes it started again and it was discovered that another camshaft sensor code is on it again so the sensor has to be changed again.

Any ideas as to what it could be and why the camshaft sensor keeps comiing back

Lagos is already oil producing if you guys dont no. The Erha FPSO ( Floating Production, Storage and offloading) is located in Lagos deepwater. and there's currently a massive expansion project going on there now including drilling new wells. The projectis called Erha North phase 2.

The sad thing about this is that u hardly find Yoruba guys working on this project located in Lagos (Yorubaland) deepwaters. Majority of the workers there are Niger delta and Igbos. Sometimes I wonder Y Yorubas re so daft n just take all the shit thrown on them. These can neva happen in Niger delta.

Blue smoke is never a good sign in any engine...and like spaceangel said, the VQ engine you have is 'supposed' to be a very good and reliable performer.

That said, if you can afford it...a full engine is always better.

However, I will not advice you to go to Ladipo on your own...except you get money wey you wan dash omo-ibo

If you have a good and trustworthy mechanic, get him to source for it for you then go with him to see it before you conclude and pay.

Dont think there is a way of knowing the mileage covered by the used engines available in our markets, but it is a fifty fifty situation. Just buy the engine forget about half etc. It is plug and play. You can also go with a mechanic who will test the compression via some crude way.

The nissan maxima vq35 engine is actually very strong. what is wrong with yours? Hope it is actually bad

Thanks SpaceAngel. The engine is begnning 2 somtimes bring blue smoke out especially wen u revv on idling( I mean revv wen d car is not moving) . The smoke will come out visibly from d exhaust.

Then there's this tapping sound from the tappet valve on d engine since i gave it 2 one wrong mechanic sometimes ago that mess the car up big time.

1st I dont really no how much such engine cost here in Lagos. Also, I really dont no ao relable are these engines. Will someone know the mileage on them to avoid buying some used up engine?

People are also talking about full and half engine. How much are the cost of these two for Nissan Maxima 2004 model ? And which is better to buy?

nissparts: You only need to raise the rear to avoid bottoming out.
Just have the spacers fixed on the rear springs.

Pls what do u mean by bottoming out? Will the spacer give enuff ride height to avoid banging on the floor without spring adjustment and how will this affect the alignment and the aesthetic of the ride ?

Costee: I doubt. If your Max is SE the dimensions are 245/45R18, and 225/55R17 if SL. Very little room to manoeuver. Should you move to say 19 rim, then your profile must reduce to say 40 if you are to avoid rubbing against the fender. At all events you've not gained any further ride height. Ride heights are actually determined more by springs than tires. This explains why though the SE and SL have same ride height but different springs because they have different tyre dimensions.

Costee: You could install slightly higher springs. Murano springs maybe. For the rear, you could also achieve a marginal increase with an additional rubber seat below the spring.

I drive a Nissan maxima 04. It's a cool ride and move fast but the problems is that it's too low.

I now run away from some roads because each time I drive on a rough road the undeneath hit uncontrollably on the ground with a heavy thud sound. This also happens when climbing over some high bumps on the road. Though I dont no what is going on underneath the vehicle but I guess those 'hitting on grounds' is not good for the vehicle. Now the car is throwing up codes about catalyst efficiency which people have said might be a result of leaking exhaust due to those hard hits on the road surface.

Pls what can I do to correct this? Is there any way round this knowing fully well Nigerian roads is not gonna improve soon?

Lagos for God's sake should be depopulated!!!! This tiny state is being overwhelmed with troops and troops of people flooding in. This project should hav been taken somewhere else there're a lot of states that could handle this. Especially the eastern region which is vastly untapped and unknown to most Nigerians. There should be move to get Nigerians moving to that part of the country that uptill now hav not been opened up to many people.

The people I pity most is my unsuspecting yoruba brodas who are being consumed by the Lagos popularity. I just hope it wont be too late by the time Lagos is lost from yoruba hand. it's tym they take a cue from my igbo brodas n move out to exploit other lands instead of them siting @ home in lagos n being exploited. Lagos the grand jewel of Yoruba land is being graudually being taken over. He that has ears let him listen n hear the upcoming rumble. There's fire on the mountain and some unsuspecting people re busying sleeping away.
