pharmow:
I'm a little surprised there are handful of people that don't know who Deinde Fernandez was. Truly there are many kids on Nairaland. In the 1980s and 90s, years before Dangote, Adenuga and Otedola becomes household names synonymous to wealth in Nigeria. The likes of Deinde Fernandez, Harry Akande and MKO Abiola wealth are the type you pray to God to bless you with. This is a man that held ambassadorial positions in many countries around the world, he was a deputy prime minister in a country outside his country of origin, a very highly diplomatic man respected all over the world, we were told he owned a private island, he owned cars that were owned by the royal family, this man defined poshness and classiness of wealth. With reasons best known to him, he didn't do so much on the home front (Nigeria).

RIP sir

Some info for the indomie generation
Very funny grin
I cannot but laugh at the number of 'kids' who never heard the name Dehinde Fernandez growing up.

RIP Oluwo Agbaye, may the Gods accept your gentle soul!

Not only God. Jonathan showed no will in punishing corrupt officers. Everyday a certain amount is looted/missing, he was too weak to make an example of anyone.
Instead of punishing them, he sets up committees to be headed by the same officers who have cases hanging around their necks.

Nigerians aren't fools, they got tired. Too much was too much!

Good news!

Remains the AG church at my backyard. Their choirs won't do rehearsals in the daytime until around 8pm and through into the night when others should be sleeping. Even the pastor slates deliverance services to late hours.
The nearby mosque has tuned low its speakers, but trust christains, they'll readily label you anti-christ if you try to hold a reasonable chat with them on the noise.

Great news! We're on our way back to sanity cool

No. This was a planned event. Those vehicles were all driven down and lined up to a place. Pressmen invited and even given envelopes.

If they don't want paparazi on this kind of news, nothing stops the governor instructing them to drive the vehicles down straight to force HQ.

Black man and black brain undecided Mandating public school teachers to withdraw their kids from private schools is an infringement on their rights and i dont think that is in consonance with any labour laws.
People have the right to send their kids to wherever;thats why i dont join people to clamour for our leaders to stop sending their kids wherever. Our leaders should just be morally guided enough to make our schools globally competitive and we citizens should demand just that.
Well said.
Where I send my children/ward to should be my choice and mine alone.

10. SANGO FESTIVAL

The Sango Festival is held in honour of Sango, Omoekun (“son of a tiger”), from whom the present day Alaafin of Oyo Oba derives the title.

Sango was the second son of Oranyan, the first alaafin and the seventh grandchild of Oduduwa in Ile Ife. Upon the death of Oduduwa, the grandchildren dispersed from Ile Ife, forming different Yoruba kingdoms in the western part of Nigeria.

According to oral history, Sango was said to be so powerful that he amassed a formidable empire in Africa and transported Oyo culture beyond the Oyo Empire. He was a strong warrior, regarded during his time as a symbol of power and truth. He was the supreme judge in Oyo Empire and the final court
I thought you wouldn't include this.

HungerBAD:
Sometimes i am puzzled to how people act.

They say the Yoruba race started from IFE. We have a prince that wants to be a King in Ife, going to Kano, Kaduna, ABuja and other "NORTHERN STATES" lobbying to be the King of a Yoruba land.

Lobbying for a Western Stool, in the Northern part of Nigeria.

So what exactly am i missing here?does this mean the Ooniship will be decided in the North? or are the Kingmakers living in the North?or maybe Ife is related to the North?once upon a time, Oba's used to be picked very quietly. But now? everything has been politicized for selfish reasons.

What happened to the Oracles making the choice of who rules?anyway i am just an observer, performing my Civic duty.
All he's doing has political undertone - going to people perceived close to Buhari so as to get his candidature influenced.
Kingship of any sort in Nigeria is now political. Ife is a core PDP town and APC is bent on taking it. All these princes know government of the day won't allow any Ifa speak on this matter.

It's a shame though. Our revered tradition is being trampled upon by these vagabonds who find theirselves in power cry cry

His 'crazy' focus on probe leaving vital aspects of governance.

I'm not feeling this picture. Why would a Yoruba prince, who might end up as the next king of arguably one of the most important thrones in Yorubaland, go visit a freaking emir of Kano (not even the King of the Sokoto emirate - the northern jihad seat of power)?

It seems those who label modern Yoruba folks as northern slaves aren't lying. This picture is disgusting! undecided

That he supported Buhari before election doesn't mean he can't fault his moves.
Yorubas do not blindly follow and support all your actions just because they like you. Where you excel, they praise you. Where you err, they chastise you!
Not blind follow follow mentality come woe come weal some of you empty heads carry around.
