Choosing the right crèche is a challenge for many mums or parents. In fact, it is said that the physical, mental, emotional and even academic development of your child can depend a lot on the type of crèche you put him or her. So, this means that you must choose a crèche for your child very carefully. Here are a few ideas to guide you: Distance: The crèche must be either close to your residence or workplace of anyone who will be dropping or picking your child. It could be your husband, mum, family member or friend. When you consider these options properly, dropping or picking your child up from the crèche does not involve a lot of time and travelling. Operating hours Some priorities such as how early or late a crèche opens and closes for the day should be non-negotiable. If you work long hours, perhaps you resume early and close late, you might desire a daycare with extended hours without a late fee or at the most an affordable pickup penalty. Facilities If physical activity is important for you, then a crèche that has grounds so the children can get outside or a pool to learn swimming might be top of your list. But, remember, it must be under strict supervision. A good must offer a safe, healthy environment where children are well cared for and encouraged to build friendships with other children. A crèche should offer children a learning environment where they are free to try new things. Important checklists -Inspect the crèche facility Check out the hygiene-level of the crèche and you can ensure this by finding out the following: -How are the children are fed? -Where the used utensils are kept and how they are washed? -How neat and clean the bathroom is -How neat and clean the kitchen or feeding area is. -How often the entire area is clean and the process is -Where and how the children sleep -What the environment of the crèche looks or feels like -Check the level of medical aid available at the creche. -It is important to find out the kind of medical or first aid that is available at the crèche, if the children fall ill within the crèche. -How quickly can that aid be given at the crèche? -What happens in the period in-between? -Are there in-house trained nurses or nursing assistants or matrons to take care of the children before they arrive at a hospital or before the doctor comes around? -Are there separate sick rooms or sick bays for unwell children to rest within the crèche. Where are they located and how are they maintained. -Find out how qualified the people taking care of your child are for their job? -What are the children taught at the creche? -Please demand to see the timetable? -Is there a CCTV in the crèche? -Is the general feel of the crèche homely and welcoming? -Does everything feel right about the crèche? Referrals are great but…. While word-of-mouth referrals from other parents or trusted resources are important, you need to look at a crèche for yourself to assess whether it meets your needs. Make sure you drop by unannounced at the crèche and spy. If possible, try to visit the same centers at different times of the day to get a sense of how the staff interacts with the children and what the routine is. You may want to consider popping in unannounced a few times after you’ve enrolled your child, just to see how things are going. Sometimes your visits will confirm that the place is right for you, but sometimes they’ll be a real eye-opener Safety Other details to consider: When older children share the space, toys with small parts (choking hazards) should be kept away from younger babies. Ideally, infants and babies should have their own area where they won’t get “loved” too much by older toddlers. A room or separate area dedicated solely to swings and bouncers may look appealing at first glance, but keep in mind that growing babies need plenty of floor time to develop and strengthen their muscles. Of course, any child-care environment should be kept clean, childproofed, and well stocked with sturdy books and toys that are age-appropriate. The location of the crèche is also very important. How secure is the location of the crèche and its environs? Trust your instincts Every parent knows when something doesn’t feel quite right and this includes a crèche. You may be turned off by a crèche everyone in town raves about or even clash with a highly recommended sitter. If that happens, keep searching. Babies deserve, and thrive under, good, nurturing care. If something just doesn’t feel right about your crèche, please investigate other options. Cost/fees A major mistake many parents make is overlooking the cost of the school fees of the dream creche they are looking to enroll their little ones in. The questions you must ask yourself as you make to enroll your child in a new creche include: 1. Can you afford it? 2. Can you conveniently pay the fees? 3. Can you sustain paying the fees in event of an increase? 4. Is it really worth the fees and will I have value for money? As soon as you can answer in the affirmative, then, you are good to go ahead with picking the school for your child or children as the case may be. Read more about the six things you should never do when picking a school for your child Take your time and be intentional when choosing a crèche for your child. Do not feel you are being fussy or have the mentality that “it is only a daycare”. In reality where your child spends the first few years of their lives is as important as where they go to university they attend. So, please choose carefully and wisely too..,,,,,, Read more http://fabmumng.com/choose-right-creche-child/ Follow on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/fabmumng/ If you found this piece helpful, remember to drop a comment below or send us an email at info@fabmumng.com...................

“I will remarry.” This was top Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh’s response when asked in a recent interview on PREMIUM TIMES if she will give marriage a second shot. Please read excerpts from the interview below On Motherhood I heard motherhood is difficult but I think my son and I share a special kind of love that makes everything easy. Its not that I don’t get stressed out or mad at him sometimes. I do but the love and the grace of God is sufficient for both of us. The secret behind her glow Well, firstly I am born again and when you have God you just radiate. So all the glow is from within; you don’t fake God’s glow. You also can’t fake God’s glory because it overwhelms you. I don’t know how to say what I want to say but when God steps into a situation or your life he elevates you and makes you see things in a different light so the glow you see is all God. I am a radical for Christ. On adjusting to life in Abuja I thought I could never live outside Lagos because I thought everything outside Lagos was too slow. I need that slow life now because nobody is my face and neither am I in other people’s faces. I’m changing my circle of friends and redecorating my life so I needed that space. On maintaining her privacy I have always been a very private person and anything that people say about me is what they want to make up. No one truly knows me, no one knows what I eat or don’t eat. No one knows me and the................... Read More http://fabmumng.com/i-will-remarry-tonto-dikeh/ Follow on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/fabmumng/

Fibroids are tumors (abnormal growth) that grow in or on a woman’s uterus. This occurs when a single muscle cell in the wall of the uterus multiplies and grows to form a non-cancerous mass. Uterine fibroids are also called Myoma. Causes of Fibroids The exact cause of uterine fibroids is unclear, but there is evidence that it may be a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. Fibroids are found in approximately 20% of women who are in their reproductive age because the growth is fueled by female hormones like estrogen. When estrogen levels drop in menopause, fibroids begin to shrink. Fibroids and Infertility Fibroids are very common in African-American women. Also, overweight and obese women are at a higher risk of developing fibroid compared to women with normal weight. However, the size and location of fibroids determines the impact it will have on fertility. There are three major locations for fibroid which are: Subserosal – on the outside surface of the uterus Intramural – within the wall/muscle of the uterus Submucous – protruding into the uterine cavity Most women with fibroids may conceive without difficulties, but, fibroids that are found inside the uterine cavity (submucosal), very large fibroids within the wall of the uterus (intramural), can be a threat to fertility. Fibroids may hinder fertility in women by: Blocking the fallopian tubes, where fertilization occurs. Changing the shape of the cervix which may affect the quantity of sperm entering the uterus. Preventing blood flow into the uterus which can reduce the chances of an embryo sticking to the uterus (implantation) Leading to uterine contractions and miscarriage. Symptoms of Fibroids Many women with fibroids may not experience symptoms, those that do, may experience the following: Abdominal /Pelvic pain Abdominal mass/ Distension (especially if fibroids are large) Heavy menstrual bleeding Increased menstrual cramping/ pain Menstruation that lasts longer than usual Painful sex Increased urination Repeated miscarriages Treatment for Fibroids Before treatment, several tests will be carried out to confirm that the patient has fibroids. These tests shows the doctor a picture of the inside of woman’s uterus without surgery. Afterwards, the doctor will develop a treatment plan based on her age, the size of fibroids and overall health. Treatments can vary from medication to surgery, depending on the approach that best suits her condition.......... A fabulous Naija Mum at the event Over thirty mothers spent their Eid-El-Fitr break gathered at Biyou Health and Spa in Ikeja, Lagos for the SWEAT IT OUT Season One. The event was organised by founder of Fabulous Naija Mums , Mrs. Jayne Augoye and Mrs. Chinwe Obinwanne, founder of NAIJAFITMOMS . This event addressed everything mothers need to know to take care of themselves, keep fit, eat healthy, run the home and raise healthy kids in a town where there is a constant rush and very little time. Taking the event to a spa was one way to show mums that they have to get pampered every once in a while. Massages, facial treatments, fitness, body scrubs, healthy eating; are all ways for any mum to get rejuvenated in order to be stronger to manage her many roles. Obinwanne after taking mothers through circuit trainings focused on cardio, strength and core conditioning, encouraged mothers to not only make little time every day to exercise, but also to quit the quest for weight loss and rather pursue health and wellness which will ultimately result in weight loss. She spoke extensively on the need for mums to stop comparing their progress to that of any other mum, as everyone is different and unique in their own right. The secret behind the success of my marriage and career-Joke Jacobs Fabmumng had a rare encounter with veteran Nigerian actress, Joke Jacobs, and she opened up on motherhood, career, family and marriage What sort of childhood did you have? I had a very blessed childhood. I lacked nothing as a child; I was raised in Ikoyi, Lagos. Yes, I guess we can call it a privileged childhood but my parents were very strict yet accommodating. Growing up, what are some of the virtues your parents instilled in you? My parents taught me that there is dignity in hard work and labour. Whenever I am faced with challenges I will have a good cry and this was something my late mum also did. Having a good cry sort of eases a lot of the pressure off me. Afterwards, I can start thinking about to tackle the challenge and move forward............... Wellness The Disordered Eating Epidemic By Mosope Idowu Thanks to all the images that often bombard our social media feeds and television screens, it is no surprise that there is an obsession with size and weight in our society today. There is often much talk about “eating disorders” which only affects 1-3 per cent of our population; while the bigger issue that often goes unchecked is “disordered eating”. The latter is more prominent (in over 50% of the population) and continues to increase at an alarming rate -especially amongst women. Disordered Eating is defined as a variety of abnormal eating behaviors that negatively affects the health of an individual and interfaces with the daily metabolic functions. Disordered eating could fall into one of the following categories: Calorie Prisoners – people who due to their fear of gaining weigh tend to see food as either GOOD or BAD and then feel guilty when they eat any food that they consider to be BAD and therefore off limits. Such people are likely to beat themselves up for having a cookie or a slice of cake. But, the truth is that the guilty feeling has a worse effect on them physically and physiological than the food that they have eaten. Such guilty feelings leads to an increase in the sstress hormones in the body, which result in the store of more fat – and therefore weight gain. .Secret Eaters – people who binge eat junk food in secret only so that they will not be seen. Such people make so much show in public of being easier on this diet or that diet or exclaim when offered certain foods that “I cannot eat that!’ Yet they will hide and eat these same foods in private. Such people care more about how people perceive them than about the actual condition of their health and wellness. Such people will likely never lose any weight no matter how healthy they eat outside because they over-eat the bad stuff. Career Dieters – These category of people are unable to decide what to eat without an outlined meal plan to follow. Such people are likely to jump from one weight-loss program to another. They never really learn anything because they simply just do as they are told without seeking to understand why. Once such a person goes off the plan they will ultimately gain all the weight back because they have not consciously cultivated healthy habits. Purgers – These set of people try all every means possible to get rid of “unwanted calories” by using things like laxatives or by vomiting. These people will eat (often uncontrollably) and then purge. They never give the calories that they have consumed an opportunity to do what it needs to do in the body. Such people are more prone to sickness, they also tend to have low energy levels and are more likely to develop a full-blown eating disorder if this behavior persists. Food Addicts (Emotional Eaters) – These category of people think about food all the time and use it to validate their emotions, be it to soothe sadness, to celebrate success or deal with anger/frustration. Such people tend to be overweight because they are unable to control their food intake. Extreme Exercisers –These set of people work out excessively – regardless of illness, tiredness or injury – and do not fuel their bodies properly. Such behavior will eventually lead to an injury that could render them inactive for months or years and ultimately result in excessive weight gain. As you can see none of these behaviors will result in any kind of long-term weight loss or maintenance. Short-term extremes are harmful to the body, they do not work, and they do not teach you anything in the long-term. Rather, the best approach to weight-loss and maintenance is to educate yourself, learn to make healthy choices and commit to making it a lifestyle. —– Mosope Idowu is the founder of Bethel Fit Mum, which caters to busy mums with young children who have limited time and feel overwhelmed by the demands of life, but.............. 5 natural ways to firm your breasts Don’t let saggy breast weigh you down, here are 5 natural ways to firm up your breasts APPLY OIL: Applying Olive oil, vegetable oil, fennel seed oil and also carrot oil can help rejuvenate some of the properties that can help restore the elasticity of saggy skin. All you need to do is massage your breasts with these oils within regular intervals during the day. Applying too much can burn your skin, two drops is more than enough to keep you going at every point you want to apply it. In order to get better results you can also mix two drops of any essential oil along with the vegetal oils. Massage for about 15 minutes in order to increase blood flow and stimulate cell repair and make sure you do it like 4-5times a day. Apply Cucumber: You can grind and blend one cucumber, add a cup of clean water, some natural cream with egg yolk or white egg, as it is good for sagging breasts due to its astringent and skill-nourishing properties. Once you are done mixing it, refrigerate and apply it on your breasts later. When you apply it, leave the mixture on your breast for about half an hour and then wash it off with cold water. This will help tone your breast muscles but ensure that you do this once a week to help strengthen the breast tissue. RUB SHEA BUTTER: For best results, rub Shea butter on your breast once or twice a week; leave it on for 10 minutes before you wash it off. Shea butter is a great source of Vitamin E. The latter helps tighten the skin around your breasts and it will also give your breast the firmer appearance you want. Use Aloe Vera Gel: You can make use of Aloe Vera gel by applying it in a circular motion on your breast for about 10 minutes. Let it seat for another 10 minutes before you wash it off with warm water. For better results ensure to try it at least 5 times a week. You can also prepare a mixture of 1 tablespoon of Aloe Vera ,1 teaspoon of honey and mayonnaise. Apply it on your breast and leave for 15 minutes before washing it off with cold water. Do this once a week for better results. Aloe Vera helps in skin tightening which will therefore ensure your breast stops sagging. Engage in regular Exercise: It is advisable that you perform push-ups as they help tone the muscles beneath your breasts. Lie face down on the ground and place your hands shoulder-width apart. You can also do dumbbell pullovers to tone your chest muscles. Put your arms above your head then lower down until the weight is above your head and your arms make a 90-degree angle. Push the weight back up and............ Read More http://fabmumng.com/5-natural-ways-firm-breasts/ Follow On Instagram https://www.instagram.com/fabmumng/
