Most banks have already submitted their AFS to CBN but as always incompetence reigns in this country.

As terrible as Emefiele was, this current CBN regime doing everything to make him look like a genius.

UCAP had their board meeting today, we should hear something between now and Friday.
It is always easy to call another incompetent. The question is what have you contributed to the country. Has the time frame for publishing results elapsed Mr competent.

The scenario you're painting is not ideal for that question, Madam. The prices he bought those stocks at isn't relevant to the future gain/loss potential. As at today, he has about 50m worth of value. Equities market should be appreciated for growing his funds. But he should put emotions aside and look at the potential benefits of continuing to hold the stocks at current prices vs the yield from fixed income.

In reality, it's not all black and white. I don't believe in leaving the market totally. If stocks are overvalued, I recommend you sell down and get assets with better potentials and vice versa. Of course, this is my perspective.
Nice submission. Can anyone beat his chest and say a particular stock is over valued when different things push price up or down on nse
Can you say transcorp power is over valued when many here used geregu price as yard stick for thr purchase. etc.
I stand with mcy on mentioning the price he picked the equity. And I believe that is why Emma mentioned his BE and decide to sell some ratio.

I will never jump on fixed income because of its returns when my equity investment has given me tremendous capital appreciation.

Ask loco, His style of investment will tell you anything can happen on any stock though I don't believe in dead companies that are alive on paper.

Consistency of the return is the Koko.

A 20% consistent return for the past 10 years is far

This statement does not apply when APC is in government during the 10 yrs and naira moves from less than #200 to #1500 to a dollar
It is what I am seeing in my 10 yrs sukuk bond @ 13%.When I did it I thought it was a great option. Now I have reservations on long time fixed investment. I think it is better one goes for multiple TB of different months with the capital so that you can move the fund to any better investment when the need arises too

Earnings Per Share (EPS)
This almighty metric, I see folks refer to most times, does not necessarily show the financial health or performance of a company. It is the easiest to manipulate/distort. To create an impressive EPS, management could ship-out products/services towards year end to create higher-than-normal sales, which will eventually add to the bottomline from which EPS is derived. Other forms of financial abracadabra could include suppressing expenses or losses, etc. BunmiOni's Cadbury comes to mind.

It is advisable to also look at the Statement of Financial Position (SFP), pay attention to the shareholders' fund and its components, level of gearing, etc. Also, look at the notes to the accounts for details of some unusual items in the P&L and SFP, in addition to other news about the company.

I often advise that sustainable investing in shares is more of a marathon than a sprint.

PS: Above might not be too relevant to those focused on TA or unorthodox approach to investing.
How about when you look at the eps over 10 yrs and not just for one financial yr eg gtbank and zenith without one time magic like revaluation of forex

If you know the secret and powers behind outstanding shares, you will consider it first in your stock investments.

Check Juli outstanding shares and their shareholding structure and also check Neimeth. You will know the reason though both are loss making companies
A dead/useless company with small Os is of no value. Though it is better to have a good company with moderate os and not bloated os like transcorp plc

Let Oando price climb up to safegaurd the hope double fold.

A very high buy out price if it must happen which is going to be challenged by shareholders who want to benefit from the turnaround. Any buyout short of the highest PO with time value of money interest must be rejected.

Outright cancellation of the buy out. Those that want to exit can sell on NGX. Oando currently top quartile in terms of value of transactions on NGX so those that want a buy out or want to leave can still leave. While those that want to stay can enjoy the turnaround in full.
I will soon adjust my post from #20 to #50 for wale based on what sec did on pz matter

In another news Access bank on the acquisition beat

https://doclib.ngxgroup.com/Financial_NewsDocs/ACCESS_HOLDINGS_NGX_ANNOUNCEMENT.pdf

I am tempted to ask is there no end to Access bank appetite for acquisitions?
I thought cbn said this banks should be gearing up for recapitalisation. Whr is access getting the capital for all this acquisition if thr base has gone down because of exchange rate.
It looks this is the way top management of access is using to steal from itself. The next is to be booking losses from operations of the overseas branches

I think there may be a rate hike albeit marginal. Just my opinion.

Good to read from you.How is this hike going to really help bring down inflation. The main thing driving inflation is dollars exchange rate to naira. Even without the increasse to 20% plus for government fixed securities. It will still be overscribe .So why is the government borrowing at this high rate when it can still achieve the same at lower rate.I can't just understand this book logic they are applying for naija economy .
How do they intend to pay at maturity beside printing more naira they are trying to withdraw

Like I say, I'm locking my profits in money markets......

Many bought fbnh that is making rounds here circa #5( more than 800% profit)

Biko I no border my brain but I'm still in d market though I'm selling my wares not buying

It is not extreme if truely you have been in this market for long.I have seen zenith touch #70 when dollars was less than #200 , Fbn #60 etc. Then I had only 20,000 of zenith. I kept regretting not selling and making my first I million in stock market..I bought 10,000 units of fbn during PO at #33.00 which is part of my holdings till date before averaging down

I am wondering too what is happening in FBNH. My suspicion is it is not about results beyond what has already been released as unaudited 2023 FY. That unaudited result indicated a book Value of N47, EPS of N 8.56 and Comprehensive Income per Share of N 20. Ideally the EPS should be repeatable year in and year out going forward with increments sef. While the Comprehensive per share suggest a mark of N12 per share from forex gains (Realized & Unrealized) at (perhaps exchange rate of +/-N850) Hence Ote$ or another major investor see's the bank as grossly undervalued and is taking his or her position and in the process bringing out the correct valuation in the market.
With this figures. Do you think fbn could surprise the market with dividend of like #3.00. Since ote is now the chairman and knows how to share the money

Imagine picking Elephant @27 and selling @43 in less than 2 or 3 weeks!
I wonder the type of stock that can deliver that to you in 6-12 months as a dividend.......not plenty on the Exchange 😁
The big question is what is behind fbn rise.Is it possible the result coming or manipulation by otedola and Co.I don't want to see fbn fall back to #20 plus if thr is no serious FA backing this result
I am so tempted to japa from fbn then something else Is saying wait and see result/dividend declared
BE here na #6 plus

With ETI trading at 25.5, representing a 16% gain from the price of 22 at my call, and Guinness trading at 46, a 7% increase from 43, the short-term target of just 3 days has yielded target returns. It's not bad performance. I could easily close the trade now, having reached the 11% target (with equal weighting), though I believe they could potentially perform even better. cheesy
Nice call. Then I am wondering what will be you profit if you remove the buy and sell % on your total investment. Can you do the maths for us for someone with little cash

With CBN's insistence that banks should not pay dividend from their forex gains, expect a significant pull back on the banks. Interesting times!
The people in banks are not expecting more than 50 kobo to 1 naira increament to thr last dividend paid .The price rise In banks is based on devaluation/inflation in the country.
And if it is based on dividend oando has no business above #5 . When did oando pay the last div.what is the div of geregu and transcorp plc.why did mtn recover after bad result. Nigeria equities are under valued because of devaluation of naira. How many naija equities worth up to a dollar when you check its asset value

Note that the fx revaluation gains are largely unrealized.
.How? Didn't cbn ask them to sell down composirly this yr.The ratio is what I don't know but it was significantl and has remained a policy.I believe they should have 50% or above real gain and not paper profit

And this bank ceos are part of the government. They will never allow thr paper gains to turn to paper lose without taking action

Gtbank will touch #60 and zenith #50 after another round of revaluation by first quarter of 2024 results.
The only problem is cbn restrictions on what the banks can do with the gains.Going forward they will be allowed to use them when naira appreciate and long time stability is achieved in forex
And some of this gains are nolonger paper gain as banks whr force to sell off a ratio of thr forex holdings
