"You may want to reinvest in UBA or some other FUGAZ stocks. Remember that they may start offering rights issues, so keep some of your money available for that, as it may be cheaper to purchase shares through the rights issue.

Although buying more shares now will also increase the number of rights available to you, it's still advisable to keep funds reserved. UBA's rights issue is likely coming soon."

https://nairametrics.com/2024/05/24/i-will-reinvest-100-of-my-dividends-in-right-issues-elumelu-tells-uba-shareholders/

Yes I am selling JB for that purpose. I am expecting the RI to come in the range of 1 new for 3 old shares in the first phase of recapitalisation process. I am increasingly to have more RI.I will take up all my rights believing uba can maintain a div of #3 next year .I will equally do same with zenith in anticipation of #4 dividend. I want zenith to come down to #25.If it goes this way, dividend + capital appreciation. It will beat the percentage in the present government long time bond of 20% and inflation if it drops to 25% and below

It would've been easy to answer your question and much more if only you had acted a bit more matured.
I never imagined you could address me in this manner, but it's fine. It's not like am some acclaimed VIP. (am just a nobody) wink cheesy cool

Like in the past when I've adviced you to show restraint and be more accommodating in your engagement with others, I could've asked you to be calm, but I wouldn't want to.

PLS kindly sell off your holding or follow your instinct.
I still wish you well though!

You may be right to read my comment from different angle.I know my first sentence may not have come off well but to be sincere I decided to go that way because after reading you thought about the RI.I found little or nothing in it.The normal value of quoted companies has little or no benefits to minority shareholders because he is either after appreciation or dividend. And the Os has alot to do with companies performance when talking about eps.I was expecting you to dwell on the os after the Ri.And what should be expected after this bloated os after Ri.You could see we are shocked at the ratio of 6 :1.This is one of the challenges in transcorp plc and the fear of many investors as per bank recapitalisation now.

No vex as per my first sentence on the initial quote. Na the management of iB dey vex me,lol

For those sending me mails/messages on INTBREW, I said I won't be talking about the coy since I already did enough in time past.

The problem is that most persons do not know why they invest or should invest in a company.
Still, some do not understand what a share capital reduction exercise entails.

For the naive fellows (the one's I often feel sorry for), here's a simple brief;

The company's rights issue is actually part of a share capital reduction exercise (CS reorganization & BS restructuring) aimed at neutralizimg the recent impact of accumulated losses and birthing a healthier capital structure that can allow the coy perform more optimally going forward.
The 6 for 1 RI may seem bloated, but that approx 161.17B ordinary share issue is priced at a per value of 2k. At a per value of 50k, it's just about 6.45B shares. (if 2k >> 161.17, then 50k >> [161.17/50] x 2,= 161.17/25)
This is why a part of the circular reads in part;
"...to offer to the shareholders the proposed rights issue of 161,172,395, 100 ordinary shares of 2 kobo each..."

So essentially, the company's RI exercise is expected to raise N3.65 x approx 6.45B capital... which is approx N23.55B
The proceeds will be credited to the coys share premium A/c before been utilized to neutralize her accumulated/retained loss position.
See the RI as a form of CAPITAL REORGANIZATION EXERCISE. (a key step in restructuring for T&GCs), which in addition to the aforementioned benefit, will also allow for a more robust and efficient CS and create the "fertile ground" for future cash flow reward to shareholders.

As I stated in a previous post, There are pros and cons with the expected share capital reduction exercise (ref: reduction in nominal value by a factor of 25x) in between the planned RI.
But I know most folks will focus on the cons and fail to efficiently benchmark it against the undisputably much better pros. Am hoping that more persons will sell off their holdings, so price can drop a bit more.

HOLD! ...it's a great midterm play.
That would be my candid advice, especially to the naive ones.
But PLS do not hesitate to sell if you so desire.
...just do well to follow your instinct.

I know INTBREW will make us a lot of money! wink cheesy cool

CAVEAT: NOT to be inferred as any sought an investment advice. Due diligence still applies as always.

cc: @streetinvestor and all

Selah
And after all this grammar. The normal value of 2k or 50k adds no value to minority shareholders. Tell us the number of Os that is expected to be used in dividing the profit made by the company to arrive at what ever Eps.
In simple English what will be IB OS after this excise.

My arguments for better investment climate doesn't mean I don't see good things about the country. Nigeria's security situation can only be fine to those who are benefitting from the status quo. Every other objective person wants it better. Here you are equating discontent with insecurity to some form of unpatriotism. cheesy

And, policy consistency is not just good for foreign investors but even local investors. Ever wondered why Dangote chose to build his refinery in a free trade zone? That's a local investor, yet wary of Nigeria's policy inconsistencies. Seplat may be doing well in this condition. But I believe they will do better if these impediments weren't there. Nothing stops the government from bringing technocrats together and involving representatives from civil societies, labour, professionals and major political parties and crafting 50-year plans for each sector of importance so that there will be something majority of Nigerians agree on, regardless of the party in power.
I am also in Nigeria and heavily invested here. So, please, put away this your patriotism cloak like patriots must submit to every dung rained on them by their leaders.
You are right on all you said. I still stand on my very first opinion. That the two reasons from total for thr decisions does not hold water.Even in Ukraine war country. Thr are still foreign investments happening. We have our security challenges and yes we can still do better in that regards. The latest policy for oil and gas is the one just passed. And if any investor sees it as inconsistencies. He can leave

You're the only one that seems to believe Nigeria can be competitive without investments. Even the government you're defending is going out of its way to court investors. Not everything is politics. Engage in arguments without looking for a cheap off-ramp.

So, since locals have been taking over, how have they been treating the environment and how much of the money they make do they share with citizens? Protection of the environment and local interests have to be insured through policies and policy enforcements. If not, even if you give an Ogoni man an oilfield in Ogoniland, you're likely to have the same results. Bro, you need to understand that investments have to be win-win. Why will investors invest if not for the "dividends" they expect from their investments? On our part, our government is to ensure that Nigeria and Nigerians are also benefitting through taxes, jobs, CSR, infrastructure, etc.

Let me break this down for you: Angola, a competing oil producer, is $6 billion (over N6 Trillion) better positioned than Nigeria, in terms of investments. So, your locals need to pull over N6 Trillion of investments to maintain competitive parity. And Total is not the only one. The earlier you understand that the world we live in is highly competitive, the better. And, whether we like it or not, capital usually dictates the tune, even in our little NGX. grin
Oga if you are seeing nothing good in the country. You can believe what ever you like. All I know is the reason the so called total is giving is rubbish to me.Every country is facing various security challenges and no policy is permanent. Policies are always work in progress. Or you didn't read the link you shared.
Is it not with the two things total mentioned that seplet is still making huge investment in that sector. Africans are getting wiser with all this white men foreign investors thing that is another form of Modern slavery. Go see what this white investors have turned smaller African countries to.How much is taken back to thr country and what is pushed back to the country with the solid minerals in the arrangements.

Since the passing of the PIB, how well has the local improved the Standards? Instead they pay peanuts and fund their families lifestyle abroad . Some even don’t have a functional company but get contract which is re-contracted up to the 4th party that actually executes it.
As a matter of fact, safety standards have dropped significantly. Everyone wants to cash out quick not investing

Seem you don’t know so much about oil and gas and how this affect us in a country like ours.
And with what you wrote here. You know so much about oil and gas but could not mention the locals in the crude business that are performing bad.It is total that has been pushing the out put presently to 1.3 million and heading to 1.7 Million abi.You can't see the one seplet oando is doing. And what make you think the likes of transcorp can not equally do it

TotalEnergies is a company like Dangote Industries. Equating it to France is not correct. And insinuating their investments are unwanted is even more surprising. By the time you discount companies from all countries that haven't "developed African countries they colonized", you'll have a smaller pool of potential investors, who will still consider you, not specially, but as one of their options.
By the way, it's not only Total that's leaving the upstream, IOCs of other nationalities are leaving too.

When all is said and done, Nigeria has a window within which to use its oil resources to leapfrog its development, a window that's gradually closing. Our leaders are oblivious of the fact that a free oil market will lead to a global glut and that's why there's now OPEC quota which we're not even meeting. Green/cleaner energy pressures are there too. It's getting tighter and tighter. How fast are we intentionally diversifying away from oil?
Oga leave all this French you are speaking. Total is a French company simply. Nigeria and Africa can only be developed by Africans. This you so called investors that come with thr dollars does not have your country at heart. We know the mess your so called ioc has left concerning the environment in this region they operated. They come to Africa and operate with a standard they can not try in thr parent counties. They take home a larger bulk of money made in those countries and turn the people to slaves. When they go it gives opening for locals. Our survival is not tired to them
We should not politicise everything. Anyone that wants to go can go.Every country has its own security challenge. I still prefer my naija to thr perfect country.

We are getting the shorter end of the investments stick and it doesn't seem like those in government care.

Venezuela's low production to reserves is due to sanctions. Ours is entirely man-made.
They can go to hell for what ever reason they have.Nothing good comes from France. How have they been able to develop the African countries they colonized.

On this company that listed at #1 million a unit.it means the price can never go up or down based on nse rule of 100k units to move price. That means the people thr will only be collecting dividend. Then can this company pay like 100k as per dividend in a yr.
What do the company stand to gain and shareholders by listing on nse beside wasting money in paying annual/regulartory fees to nse.

Just don't understand. ...open to learn more

Exactly. The sim card is more than your ATM.
in ATM, you require a PIN.
in SIM card you can create the PIN and don't forget that the Bank assumes that you are the one they are dealing with once it comes from the sim card. So, even though you did not set the USSD, the person can do it if he knows some info about you.

STAY SAFE, USE PIN IN MAXIMUM WAY NECESSARY.

Pls let me hear your opinion on my wife case with zenith bank.My wife tried shopping online believing it was the regular site she has been using. This was around 3pm on a working day.The transaction failed. Then around 5pm she got a debit of #1 naira.within 1 minutes she got different alert of 1 million and the whole money in the account cleared.since the banks already closed she could not go to the bank. The next day she went to bank and was told the money was used to shop oxl some whr in lagos
The surprised question is that she normally get otp notice for confirmation when she uses her card but this time none came.when she checked with bank customer desk she noticed a new phone introduced to her account which she believes the otp notification was sent.
She went to efcc and wrote to cbn but till today nothing came out off it.
Do you think thr could be insider hand work in this situation. Make I know if I should bring in a lawyer now.The amount taken was 1 million naira
I keep wondering how unknown number was introduced to her bank details with the bank.

Dividend mark down is never a yard stick to say a stock will go south. If you are lucky and it happens in a stock you sold high.It is good and fine but don't come complaining why is it not happening again in a stock after I have sold.It didn't happen in gtb, zenith and wapco.i saw it in access and ucapital. No one can say it will happen in uba.It may or may not happen in any stock.
The same access touched #30 and ucap #25 and had nothing to do with dividends this year.
All I see thr is choice which could turn favourable or otherwise.

Alert: For those who are hooked on Transcorp, please go and study the history of what happened to companies listed on NSE that embarked on similar reconstruction journey. Transcorp will not be an exception!
Transcorp plc is not a dead company. The reconstruction is the best thing to happen to Transcorp. I said it before they decided to do it.As long as Transcorp has that large controlling interest in the power it will not affect it.The companies you think reconstruction affected already had FA issues .After reconstruction Tony will move Transcorp plc like the hotel to the same range. They both will be having almost the same OS.As long as the FA of transcorp Power improves it will drag Transcorp plc along.
