Now I don't know the answer to this but what stops State legislators passing legislation with dual taxation?Basically tax people from out of state/region more than they tax indigenes? Individuals and not business. Similarly, state universities charge higher fees for out of state/region students?

The only legal way to stem migration is through taxation. #justsaying
Very good tactic BUT this will brew some hell of trouble men!

Fashola's relocation exercise is still a living dilemma for these economic migrants. If SW governors should ever try going that direction of your, it will cause a lot of friction between we and these flateenos (but I really dont care though), 'cos I very sure SW sure we stand to gain while SE stands to lose . But do you think the center will just fold its arms?... I DOUBT IT.

SW? Overpopulated ke? Apart from Lagos, every where else remain by and large sparse to moderately populated. From Ogun through Oyo to Ondo and Ekiti. In fact that is why some of our governors can get away with spending so little on infrastructure.
My Sis, I beg to differ o. All SW states save Lagos need not reach the population density of Lagos before we term them overpopulated. Ok, you check the p.d of most cities in the world and trust me, cities here are very much on the high side. We need not look like bangladesh before we can join the league of overpopulous places.

I think the Nikkygal chic is married. She mentioned her Mother-in-Law in the post I talked about. So road no dey for that side at all.

You know, I really don't like 'em chics lovin' me for my "book-smarts". Trust me, my Resume is quite impressive but I don't flaunt it at them. I love them adoring me for my "street-smarts", instead.

But on my part, I think I prefer them "book-smart". I once wooed a very "book-smart" girl 'cos she was good at Chess. We were getting along well till she saw me smokin' weed with a fellow chess mate. She said she couldn't handle the weed-smoking part, so I let her be. grin

I even met some iboe chiks there. wink
I was supposed to take pictures, unfortunately taking of photographs isn't allowed.

I tried to breach protocols though, grin I didn't succeed.

from from the vast knowledge gotten and experienced, I think the ticket fee should be increased. (its less than $).

@ d bold

Not only the chiks but the most alarming is how their guys proliferate the streets of SW everyday. But wait people, is it that our SW governors and policy makers are blind to see that the region is officially overpopulated, or are they just not observant?.... I really dont get it.

Now thats one of our problems. There was one time one of these senseless flateenos insulted us on having high rates of crime and poverty, I had to remind him that if regionalism stands today and everybody is allowed to man his domain, these shiit wont happen. Right now as things are, the SW cant just come up with policies that will help reduce overpopulation in the region since we are stuck. Its bad you know....

Dayo,

I am sure you remember most of what you typed up there were discussed extensively here on NL 4 years ago when APC won those states from the PDP. You are inadvertently admitting that the Oyo governor hasn't done much. How long should it take these governors to implement these ideas?
Forget it Katz. They (APC) can NEVER implement such ideas. These are wolves in sheep's clothing waiting to reveal their true self, which they are doing right now.

Right now, the only way forward I see since no amount of insult/criticisms can make them bend IS to clear these politicians, whether we like it or not since there isnt much we can do as onlookers. I really dont want to know how clean and clear it has to be, these guys need to be eliminated for the good of the land. Jerry's success in Ghana comes to mind.

Lets face it man, SW (and even Nigeria as a whole) has a long way to go with these evil people still breathing.

Ekiti Assembly to Pass Law Prescribing Death Penalty for Kidnappers

Members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly have moved to pass a bill to make kidnappers die by hanging in the state.

Expressing serious views over the twin menace of kidnapping and terrorism in the country, the assembly also moves to stipulate penalty for those who pay ransom to these evil doers.

To this end, two of the three laws that were deliberated upon at the assembly’s plenary yesterday dwelt on curbing of crimes that has to do with kidnapping that has become a source of revenues for some criminals.

They were Office of the Public Defender Bill (2015) and Ekiti State Kidnap and Terrorism (Prohibition) Bill (2015.

Both successfully passed second reading and were passed to the appropriate committees to scrutinise for final passage.

The plenary, presided over by the Speaker, Hon. Kola Oluwawole, witnessed a robust debate by members on the matters.

Presenting the bills from the order paper, Deputy Leader of Business, Hon. Adeniran Alagbada, lamented the trauma victims of kidnap and their family members are often subjected to.

Also speaking on the Public Defender Bill, the Chairman, House Committee on information, Hon. Olugboyega Aribisogan, noted that the bill would afford the poor who lack financial capability to pursue their cases the opportunity to access justice.

In the same vein, the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Dr. Babajide Omotoso; Hon. Akinleye Ekundayo, Hon. Titilayo

Owolabi-Akerele, Hon. Wale Ayeni and Ayodele Fajemilehin, who also contributed to the motions on the floor, described the bills as those that would have direct positive bearing on the lives of the people of the state.

Another law, Ekiti State College of Technical and Commercial Agriculture Repeal Bill (2015), had earlier passed through first reading.

Ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi had earlier signed the bill into law to enhance the establishment of a School of Agriculture in his Isan Ekiti country home, which the assembly thought would have to be abrogated due to poor financial status of the state.

GOOD OR BAD MOVE?
You and I both know many there are many kidnap cases that end up costing the victims' lives. So what the fucck is the point of been trying to be civil here when it can never yeild good results?..

Aare, Abeg I concur.

My homestate needs far-reaching policies like these so we dont become Ogun State. We know how countless people lose their lives frequently as a result of so many of these deadly kidnap operations. What more? Little or nearly inexistent security guarantee for people's lives. Why then let kidnappers off the loose with mire opportunities to endanger more lives?

at StuntingBlack,

In addition to your suggestions, we also need a new political party.

I'd earlier suggested a new political party(Oodua Progressive Political Party) but they said now that we have won the centre, it'd be better if we align with the party at the centre. But I don't believe it's all about the party at the centre. What should bother us is our region, our governors are not performing up to expectation. We need another political party that will give them run for their money. Now they believe PDP is not an option, therefore they'll continue to rule SW.

Those Onigbeses governors need to wake up. Time is going.
Trust me, flaging a new party is never near a solution at the moment. Apart from been a waste of time, resource and advantage, flagging a new party will send the SS and SE a signal that we support them (which is not so). And you know what? SW loses APC.

The ONLY circumstance that will warrant a new party right now is the neglect we Youths are facing. Is flagging a new party under the aegis Oodua Yoruba Youths Progressive Party better? HELL YES if you ask me. A new party that will press home the will of Yoruba youths is what we need right now. Imagine having the likes of Ribadu as a campaign tool in OYYPP to start with (just an example though)... I mean you get the trill. If we Youths can unite by making use of the media, in few years, we will sure look back and be impressed. Its only a pity we Youths just havent realized WE ARE THE ONES putting these failures in power.

PS.. As far flagging a new party, lets rest that for now as it may not benefit us in terms of strategy and advantage!!

How you doin' bruv? Hope you are well.

I love your post. It expatiates on what I was trying to articulate.

People shouldn't just sit on their arses and accept whatever these politicians dish. They need to become more active in governance. How many people organize action to challenge LG Chairman for asinine policies and actions? People need to also educate their family and friends on how to improve the situation. Letting politicians control grass root politics will never improve the situation. The youths are standing by and watching their futures mortgaged. There needs to be active participation by learned folks.
To be frank, I burn with rage sometimes when I realize that a good number of us WILL never jettison the idea of a 'justified' political arson against their family members or benefactors that feed fat on the sufferings we face. But what can a man do other than keep burning with rage? And do you know the funny stuff in this is that many if us will rather think of fleeing our fatherland INSTEAD of think of ways to contribute to an emergency solution.

There's this colleague of mine who will always sound it right in my ears that he can never be involved in nation building because some set of peole will still come back and destroy the same nation he helped build. Sometimes he tells me : "Where is the pride in been a Yoruba when you have no life to show for it? "
I tell you Katz, as trivial as that question can be, there is a whole HELL OF WEIGHT in it. On realizing that even we the same Youth will be the ones ending up going againsts the throats of each other in defence of these crooks called leaders, I WAS SHUT UP BY HIS QUESTION.!

The present reality is that even we the serious ones will find it extremely hard to lead a radical change (not that of the useless APC even though I voted APC). Left to me, there are only 2 ways to build the SW and consolidate the Sage's legacy:

1. Through a massive youth support of tested and trusted leaders. Trust me, if a situation where more than 70% Yoruba youths agree with one voice arises, THESE THIEVES WILL BE DONE FOR. As things stand, Fashola is the only man most people can vouch for, but alas, does Fashola even have the numbers in terms if Youth support talk less the whole Yoruba pooulace?

2. Through a temporary military junta that will clear the corrupt politicians. I am sure you will understand my point here. This process involves a short-lived military regime that will make so many wide range of delicate changes involving:

-Suspend the constitution and develop a new constitution that will mimick that of developed countries, albeit tailored to suit what will work fir us as Africans.

-Seize the passports of most corrupt politicians

-Confiscate their assets or execute them if they prove too difficult to handle.

-Change the system of voting (that will enable voters choose the man and not the party) , the executive, judicial and legislative systems

..... and so on. A short 4-year transition regime that achieves these things mentioned above will do wonders men!!

BUUUUUUUUUUT,
No lieing, Its far more complex (BUT PLAUSIBLE) than words of mouth Katz, I gatta admit !!

Once again, Thumbs to Aareonakakanfo for this thread!!!

Ever since my long moments off Nairaland which has made me deactivate my St_Black handle, I gotta admit I have found it a bit challenging keeping up with recent momentum of intelligent discussions on the site. cry Damn, I really need some active political interactions for some months, just that my schedule won't let me. My Bad. angry

As for my simple contribution, I prefer we the enlightened Yoruba youths involve in politics and slug it out with these set of disgraceful and shameless old cargoes that have destroyed the bright futures of our mates out there. Permit me to say that in as much as politics aint no game for the weaklings, that shouldnt stop enough of us with the lionhearts. Truth is , these misfortune geezers have nothing for us but PAIN. I do not know of many or any of you my NL friends, I cant feign not been hit, but no thanks the resilience, resolve, and most especially the grace of the baba God i share with today's youths that has made live very OK, even though im still not one of 'em rich niggas. The point here is, the more we stand aside with arms akimbo looking at these crazy geezers govern us, the more they get enough shot to destroy the future of our last hopes- our children!

As it stands, you and I know its ALMOST finished for we youths of today seeing that even amongst us exists a sizable chunk whose parents benefit from this quagmire that has bedeviled us , lest we only wish to deceive ourselves. WHAT NEXT THEN guys?. Having powerlessly watched these people mortgage us so terrible this far, isnt it even a better option to face this monsters once and for all in the political arena? Tell me, what next is left for you and I in just two decades or more years when most of us have to but 'endure the pain forever' and end up initiating our helpless kids into the same pain we are passing through today?.. E jo e bami sori, ki lo tun ku fun wa bai?. Rather than keep watching, its better we shape out better times for the fast-paced times ahead of us AND most important our children by getting real in politics. It takes to have reliable men in the society to assure us a better life. I mean come on my people, we cant build a future only on just one single man called Fashola who for now only seems to have a good vision for the general populace. Great nations are built by the sacrifices of MORE THAN JUST ONE MAN.

US is what it is today not because Abraham Linc pioneered a radical evolution that will later rule the world, but because he had great minds like Washington, Madison, Benj Frankin, Roosvelt, and the likes CONSOLIDATE his vision.

The UK remains ever strong and stable as a tripod today not because of the hard work of Elizabeth 1, but because people like Sir Winston, Blair, Thatcher, et al reigned in the fireworks on her efforts.

Germany will never be Europe's powerhouse if Otto Von Bismarck never had Angela Merkel to continue his legacy.

On and on it goes like that....

No few decades have passed since the great Sage has gone resting, BUT look what we'v got fellas. Just a set of uneducated crooks and literate spivs. And mind you, these generations of thieves will never stop been an eyesore to we great sons and daughters of Oduduwa UNLESS we checkmate their madness, else, our kids join the bandwagon. How do we checkmate them? Simple. If majority of us can be involved in politics and push our cause, trust me, these sufferings will be cut down by large proportions.!!

If I have more time, I'll create a thread titled "Yoruba Politics for Yoruba Youths - A potent weapon vastly disregarded"

ENOUGH OF THE PAIN GUYS.!!

All in all great Bros and Sis,

In peace and greatness, One Love for the Westside!!!

So far these set of degenerates called flattheads are not prepared to accept the grave mistake made by their own son Zik, whose rejection of separate nations initially spearheaded by Pa Awolowo and Sadauna is a consequence of today's very Nigeria they now, then to HELL with them all.!!

A recall back to memory lane will show that even before the discovery of oil, these same Northerners they accuse every moment had earlier voiced their discontent with been in the same country with the Christian-dominated South, and of which the same gesture was reciprocated by the Westerners. BUT ALAS, we all know how their ambitious Zik vehemently quashed these quests through the British mercenary. Knowing what fate awaits his people should he allow the North and West seceed, Zik ensured a cordial relationship with the British which ended up benefitting his Easterners but his shortsightedness failed to foresee the consequences of his politics. Sequel to the era of oil discovery in Oloibiri, we all know the rest of the Nigerian story.

Many at times, I get angry why some Nigerians can't always remind these psychos of the mistakes made by their hero. RATHER THAT BLAME THE GENESIS OF THE WHOLE CAUSE, NNAMDI AZIKWE, for failing to ensure "divided BUT successful nations" instead of a "united BUT failed nation", THEY'D RATHER SKIP THE BLAME ONTO YORUBAS IN PARTICULAR.

Igbos can go get their Biafra on these conditions if they can:

1. Rewind the world back to the colonial era when cocoa and groundnut were the major players in the world market.

2. Resurrect Nnamdi Azikwe wherever hellhole he's been stuffed and make him RENEGOTIATE A BIAFRA while Awolowo and Sadauna renegotiates their O'Dua and Arewa Federations respectively.

These 2 conditions are fair enough to keep these mad dogs shut, aren't they fellow Nigerians?
