Interestingly, there two facts in relation to the way you go about yours:

*Impulsive behaviour to show off the same things (drinks, earphones etc) over and again should end in teenage years, if not the person has a big problem on their hands when it is carried into adulthood.

*Impulsive behaviour is also linked with an unstable self esteem....I believe this one explains itself.

You weren't scammed per se. You were only taken advantage of because everyone knows these fixed match thing doesn't work.

Actually there are fixed matches, especially in these South American leagues. What should concern any sane person is the demand for fixed matches. The kind of blackmail and wanton disregard for human life that goes into making it happen should stop anybody from asking for it. People's lives are dangerously affected to make it happen.

And here you find somebody on NL whinging over money he lost on a shady, dangerous business. Pity.

Why call him out when you do not have a moral ground to do so? You think there is dignity and rectitude in betting on fixed matches? He only took you for all you have as a gullible and desperate person.

It must be a slow day for good content on NL today. What is this crap doing on FP? The mod that posted the misleading topic that made me enter the thread should not carry this deception into 2018.

Sometimes I am just left gobsmacked when I see the kind of issues people allow to fester in their lives. But then I remember when people are living in unsavoury circumstances, the limit of their endurance and compromise can be mindboggling.

Where does one even start to wonder what must have happened for a maid to live beyond her means, at the consternation of her helpless boss. Added to that, her mother is not only being bribed into silence, she's trying to cower her daughter into silence as well.

That woman must be really suffering. Until we know why she's enduring such, any advise given here will not even scratch the surface. There is more to this story.

Not really. I have read Friedrich Nietzsche's theory of the Übermensch. No human individualistic theory has resounded more with me than that. The more I live, the more I understand why Nietzsche espoused on that theory.

Besides, when I wanted to join NL, I wanted to use the moniker and I found out it has been taken. To even see another person use a form of the moniker, makes me smile for human enlightenment.

I used to work at a morgue. So there is this thing coroners do to corpses, they tie a small bell to the legs of the dead bodies. Reason is, if a dead body were to waken, the bell rings to tell the coroner the person is not quite dead.

During a heavy rainfall sometime in July, there was this very loud thunder that resounded everywhere. As soon as it subsided, the ringing of tiny bells just started and it went on for about three minutes. My colleague let out a blood curdling scream that night, I'll never forget in a hurry. Ran out of the morgue, resigned the next day. Why the bells rang, no one will ever know. Oh 2017!!

A public proposal is all shades of wrong. It gives the partner (usually the girl) two choices:

freude means joy/pleasure.

Schadenfreude means taking joy in watching (especially people's) mishap or misfortune. Sort of a poverty porn.
