berem: No fewer than 38,774,391 Nigerians now have the Permanent Voter Cards, the Independent National Electoral Commission has said. The figure which is contained in a statement on Thursday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the commission, Mr. Kayode Idowu, represents 71.35 per cent of the 54,341,610 number of registered voters across the country. It is however expected that the figure of the PVCs distributed will increase before next Tuesday when the commission is expected to publish the final list of voters. Idowu told our correspondent that distribution of PVCs will start in Borno State on Friday (today) where no one had collected. A breakdown of the 38,774,391 PVCs shows that 22, 832, 396 prospective voters have collected the cards in the Northern part of the country and 15,941,995 in the South. The zonal analysis of the figure(38,774,391) indicates that the North-West and the South- West are leading the other four zones in the collection of the PVCs. For example, in the North-West which has seven states, 12,013,961 PVCs have been collected. The seven states in the zone are Kebbi, Zamfara, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kano, Katsina and Kaduna. There are also 6,270,736 PVCs that have been collected in the six states of the South-West. The states are Lagos, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Ogun and Oyo. South-South is third among the zones with the highest number of PVC collected with 5,756,018. The states in the zone are Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta. Trailing the zone is North-Central with 5,520,001 collectors. States in the zone are Benue, Kwara, Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau and Niger. Although voters in Borno State have yet to collect their PVCs, the remaining states in the North-East have 4,886,499 PVCs. The breakdown of the states which have collected PVCs shows that Kano recorded the highest number of prospective voters who have picked their PVCs with 2,771,185. It is followed by Kaduna State with 2,643,517. Lagos State came third with 2,159,091. President Goodluck Jonathan’s state, Bayelsa, came last as the commission put the number of voters with the PVCs in the state at 370,062. It follows Ekiti State where 481,199 voters have received their PVCs and Enugu State with 662,445. The figure also indicates that 411,935 people have collected their PVCs in the Federal Capital Territory . Coming last is the South-East, with 3,915,241 PVCs. Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo and Enugu are the states in the zone.

A repeat of 2011 election pattern Opposition areas having the highest number of votes and still losing. Hmmmmm PDP has perfected a good rigging pattern Drag it out with them in their strongholds and finished them up in their weakholds. APC in trouble berem: banking on Igbo votes in other regions to win elections for Jonathan is outrightly silly. You forgot that many who might not vote due to INEC's failure, Igbos were also affected. Many Igbos in lagos and other regions will not even vote for Jonathan. I don't know how you people think. Kolade354: Am confident of buhari victory this year more than anything...........If ijaw and igbo vote is enough to vote him in let wait and see. The north and west are watching from afar. Imagine the national leader inviting Buhari to give his welcome speech in cross river and called him Gen Muhammadu Ribadu. And to make matters worse, this happened just after the Gen tripped and fall while climbing the 6 steps that led to the stage. I sincerely hope he is strong enough to handle this campaign issue. I wish him healthy life May be it is a heavenly sign that Buhari should have waited till 2019 to project Ribadu Hmmmmm Falling Maybe the Heavens are giving us signs that Buhari will fail. |

Crownofwealth: In as much as i would want somebody from the South South region to be the President of this country i must say that the Jonathan government has failed abysmally in all facet.Since the history of Nigeria, no administration has been more plagued with series of strike, blood shed and insecurity. recently it was RATTAWU, JOHESU and now JUSUN. It was under his administration that Nigeria witnessed its longest strike in the educational sector.(ASUU and ASUP STRIKE). The privitisation of the power sector coupled with the flimsy promises that power will improve is a serious fallacy. He has failed and will always fail. We have heard of the Creation of over one million jobs for the youths. Jobs that even the blind cannot see or feel. Jobs that have been shared by the politicians. How long shall we continue deceiving ourselves. If it were to be in the developed countries such a President would have resigned. Integrity demands resignation in these circumstances as his administration has failed woefully. it pains me that so many Nigerians have been blinded by religious ethnic and political sentiments such that they canot see what has befallen us.Indeed We need fresh air but not the fresh air that GEJ has brought. Sorry We don't want free food and N5000 Tell Buhari that God Elected Jonathan.(GEJ) |

Ikengawo: It has become clear to all that Osibanjo is on the front line while Buhari speaks less, appears less and acts less while Muharamedu Buhari recludes into the background.
My question is, since APC is more confident with the person of Osibanjo than Buhari, why not have Osibanjo run against GEJ? As it stands Osibanjo has done more interviews than Buhari and more on the ground campaigning. I understand the horse whip power structure of APC, but even this is too funny not to mention Sir Even Osinbajo is more clueless Imagine him saying " We will rechannel subsidy to feeding school children." |

Sunday8650: Nigerian kitchen too hot for you; Get out -Fashola tells Jonathan
January 8, 2015 | Filed under: Featured,News Update | Posted by: nigeriapoliticsonline
Governor of Lagos State Mr. Babatunde Fashola today asked President Goodluck Jonathan to get out of kitchen because he has shown no capacity for withstanding the heat of governance.
Fashola in an apparent reaction to Jonathan’s campaigns speech in.Lagos today said the President’s speech in Lagos left sour taste in the mouths of Nigerians adding that Jonathan’s recriminations of past leaders for current failures did not help him.
Saluting the robustness of the ideas of the vice presidential candidate of the APC Prof Yemi Osinbajo who earlier spoke at a town hall meeting in Benin Fashola said he was disgusted by Jonathan’s speech where he articulated no plan of action on any of the critical sectors where the country had suffered.
“Osinbajo has been on this assignment for just three weeks and he has been able to articulate a clear direction where APC government plans to change things.
“But what do you have on the other side? I watch for almost one hour as the President campaigned in Lagos today and I begin to wonder.
“He did not reveal a plan on power. He did not reveal any plan on security. He did not reveal any plan over corruption. I listened to him and all the President was doing was recriminations of those leaders before him forgetting that he has been on this assignment for six years.
As the popular saying goes If the kitchen is too for you, you must get out of the kitchen.”

Sunnybobo3: Sunday Times, February 17, 1985.
Out of 92,116 graduates (including Nigerians who studied abroad and HND holders) who graduated in 1983, only 21,026 were able to secure jobs as at 1985.
Worse is that fact that out of the 20 % employed, the public sector employed 85% While the private sector employed a paltry 15%. One wonders how the economy survived then?

Equado: Sincerely speaking, having followed GMB's campaign train through Rivers,Calabar and Delta state and listening to GEJ speech @ his campaign in Lagos, have been able to deduce the difference between the two. One of the campaign is issue based and a good know how on how things work in the nation while the other is just baseless blabbing and criticising of another without in-depth analysis on the issues affecting the nation. One of the campaign speeches was highly educational and a brief schooling in history, while the other has not been saying anything than attack the other and inciting hatred towards the other.
