BeardGangJnr1:
How can I pay 85k in a federal university...that is madness.
Pls if u are a UNN student..don't create that invoice yet.
No single Fed school in the North is paying above 50k as school fees.... why's Charles igwe want to finish Us in UNN...is it a crime to attend a fed uni in Igbo land
100% increment is just too much...and it's not as if standard of living, administration or lectures is going to change.
Some people just say wrong statistics very confidently..
That no fed school in the North pay above 50k as school fees

I hope the holders of those passports never have to go farther than the North Americas, because for most of the world, you will still be identified as the gender you were born by.

RomanceRe: Guys Have You Ever Regretted Aborting A Baby And Does The Memory Still Haunt You by subzeroth: 7:31pm On Mar 25, 2022

So today I went for the induction ceremony of a close family friend and the mum to the overall best medical graduating medical student was giving a speech about how she almost aborted him because she got pregnant as teenager out of carelessness and the father didn't want anything to do with the baby so she almost aborted him.

She ended by saying: "God I would have never forgiven myself if I had aborted this baby"

This had me wondering guys if you have ever aborted or failed to abort a baby and how it made you feel on the long run, are you thanking God you didn't or you are happy you did and if you did does the guilt still hunt you till today?

I have been following this thread from page 1 and I've noticed that sgtponnzihater1 argues in a very matured and well cultured manner. he hasn't thrown a single insult at any one, he always attack the message and not the messenger despite the fact that y'all Dentists constantly keep insulting him... I've also noticed that since page1 of this thread he hasn't in any way insinuated that dentistry is an inferior profession to medicine. he is only saying they are two different professions. And that, though dentist are doctor, they aren't medical doctors and it's the truth. go to mdcn website, registration for DENTAL and MEDICAL REGISTRATION are clearly separated with the former for dental doctors and later for medical doctors

Are you a medical practitioner?
I'm just down and fear has taken over my heart.
I think of death almost every hours. My life just started and I felt something bad is about to happen
I'm just kinda scared of kidney aliment.
Yea I am a medical practitioner..
Kideney aliment is scary indeed not just to u but to everyone..but I noticed that you are "over scared' about it than how everyone does and thats a psychiatric condition- anxiety disorder with somatic manifestation and hypochondriasis.
This can also explain the blood pressure elevation and also the perceived decline in urine..am sure you also feel like your heart is pounding..
If your test turns out normal again, u may want go see a psychiatrist
HealthRe: Taking A Bold Step To Know If I Have Kidney Disease Or Something Else by subzeroth:
To be honest sir your clinical symptoms I.e the decline urine output for 3years now, foamy urine, and elevated blood pressure at 28( though the bp in patient with kidney is often more markedly elaveted like somewhere above 180/120) are suggesivr of chronic kidney disease. However yourcreatin and urea as well as your abdominal ultrasound are very normal and that strongly rules out ckd.
If the result still comes out normal this time, i will advise u see a psychiatrist, u may be having psychosomatic anxiety disorder. That can also explain why your bd is moderately elavated and why u having some of those symptoms

EducationUsmanu Don Fodiyo University Ranks first With The Highest Number of professor in by subzeroth(op):
NUC Unveils Universities with highest and lowest number of professors in NigeriaThe National Universities Commission has unveiled the Universities with highest and lowest number of professors in Nigeria for 2021.

This comes as the commission rated the number of full professors in Nigerian universities low.

Universities with highest and lowest number of professors in Nigeria
According to the NUC, the decision to rate the quality of the academic staff on the professorial level is because a professorship is considered the zenith of academic quality.

The NUC also updated the list of approved universities in Nigeria from 197 to 202. And the list of approved post-graduate awarding institutions in Nigeria from 94 to 107.

The commission stated this in a series of data published on its website and analyses by The PUNCH on Wednesday.

“This is an assessment of the quality of academic staff in the university. The full professorial category is selected as it is the zenith of academic staff quality in a university,” the NUC stated.

According to the data, the university with the highest number of professors in Nigeria is the Usman Dan Fodio University, which the NUC ranked at 36.44 percent. This was closely followed by the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with 35.80 percent.

The University of Ibadan came third with 29.04 percent, while the University of Lagos was placed in the bottom 16 with only 14.75 percent of professors.

Other federal universities with an extremely low percentage of professors are the Federal University, Oye Ekiti; Federal University, Lafia; University of Agriculture, Makurdi; and the University of Uyo, among others.

For state-owned universities, the NUC noted that 11 of them had below 10 percent of full professor.

It named the institutions as the Cross Rivers University of Technology, Kwara State University, Bayelsa State Medical University, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University, Adamawa State University, The Technical University, Maitama Sule University, Bauchi State University, Gombe State University, Kano State University of Science and Technology, and the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology.

In the private universities’ category, the NUC noted that some institutions had less than six percent of full professors. They are Bowen University, Baze University, Summit University, Crescent University, Hallmark University, Clifford University, Igbinedion University, Augustine University, Al-Qalam University, Landmark University, and Chrisland University, among others.

lol your hatred for MLS is just in plain sight here grin so you have a CVA patient and all you do is send for CT Scan, you won't request Baseline investigations? No FBC, Eucr, FSLP at least?. How do you rule out other suspected co-morbidities. Even your surgical diagnosis, anaethesist will not approve patient for the surgery without confirming the test results are okay. Medlab scientist are not your enemy, you can decide to employ a cleaner to run your own Hospital if you like but patients that know what they want will only patronize standard hospital with fully equipped laboratory manned by qualified scientists. Why don't Eko Hospital and the likes employ only technicians since they have highly skilled consultants and you don't need the scientists?. Thank God a lot of Nigerians both Doctors, nurses, scientists are migrating to UK and US. Go there and tell them you don't need to request for investigations for your diagnosis cool
Pls speak no more before you embarrass yourself. Those investigation are routine baseline investigations as you rightly stated and not to ESTABLISH diagnosis.. Your colleague said "70% of DIGNOSIS requires the input of a medical lab scientists" the investigations u mentioned aint relevant in establishing diagnosis as far as those diseases Au79 stated

When you take a free lecture, the right thing to say is 'thank you' and not to 'go blind'.
Lol..typical medlab scientist, always boiling and ready to fight like tauts due to inferiority complex
.no wonder you guys don't av access to patients in ward directly..very unintelligent lots we share medical profession with.
So if am writing a research on say Head Trauma and I now decide to abbreviate it as HT after initial introduction to the abbreviation in the article, does that make it a standard medical abbreviation like the likes of DM foot ulcers, tropical DM hand syndrome, AIDS, COVID, BD, tds, QD , PCR, DNA, etc?
Type the words 'BH big head' on Google and see if you won't get something where they abbreviated big head as BH, does that mean Big head is the standard abbreviation BH? Or type 'DW dear wife' and see if you won't get a link where your DW was abbreviated to be dear wife..
You typed ' DW diabetic wound' and Google provided something pointing towards what you typed and u are happy asif u don't know how Google works.
I bet you, type just DW and see if you will get a link abreviating it as Diebtic wound . You will search and search before u get one(if any). That shows its not a standard recognised medical abbreviation. But type any of the standard abbreviations I listed above or anyone you know( if u know any) and see if you get a direct recognised meaning to it
It took you up to page 4 to be able to tell YOUR meaning of DW. Your lack of confidence made you Google , screenshot a a research work and paste it when you could av simply said DW means Diebetic wound .
Before I forget, no medlab lecturer taught me in med scul; not when there are pathologist. sorry sir but the truth is medlab sctst dont have the required knowledge and skills to be able to teach student doctors..or u think its how to switch on a centrifuge machine and set it to spin at certain revolution that med students learn?
NWNGSFNO(nothing we no go see for nairaland o) You see this my new abbreviation right, search it on Google tomorrow or whenever you have data and see if google won't provide u with a link to this page..so now that makes it a standard abbreviation right
Am not replying you again, consider my reply today as Xmas gift, and u know everyday is not Christmas

Biochemistry is different from Medlab.
1)One is under faculty of natural science while one is in faculty of medical sciences .
2) Biochemistry is 4yrs course while medlab is 5yrs.
3) medlab have knowledge of Anatomy, biochemistry and physiology which biochemistry graduates lack.
Most nurses are clinically sound than physicians and it still won't make them to cut corners to start practicing as a physician.

Lol@ most nurses are clinically sound than physician...

The discrimination that exists in Laboratory Sciences are not heard of. But the Biochemist, Laboratory. Technician, microbiologist etc working in the hospital will rather contribute money to fight against the doctors than to seek equality in theor department first.
A fight that they will never win. Imagine medlab scientist fighting against pathologist ..medlab scientist that uses 99% machines and 1% brain to carry out their work, people dat can hardly interpret the simplest of results

Can a doctor function without a pharmacist, radiologist, scientist and other medical fields?
Then you are likely working in govenment hospital ..in private setting especially those small and medium size hospital, the labs only run basic baseline investigations..

No a doctor can not perform ideally without these other professionals. But u see in village hospitals and rural settings, doctors work without them. But of course, its not the ideal thing but doctors still improvise to function without them( nurses exclusive)
Check your posts, u tried elevating your medlab by downplaying the doctors
Just for clarification sake, do you know who is a radiologist?

it is true that there are RDT for some diseases...those RDTs at times give false result. An example is the malaria testkit..we have different specie of malaria parasite e.g the plasmodium falciparum and it is The most deadly malaria parasite which can be seen only by microscopic procedures.
RDTs can detect Pf in malaria,so the result will likely be false

Secondly,it is true covid 19 RDT is out,but you can't even carry out the test yourself talk much of market women.
It has procedures you have to follow carefully so as to get an accurate result.
The testkit was made to make work easier, faster and less exposure of the scientist to the virus.
You are wrong, RDT can detect p. Falciparum, infact its the only specie it detects.
Secondly results from malaria test kits are reliable. It as a specifity of close to 90% and a pretty high sensitivity also..
Thirdly all RDTs are easy to use, no special procedures required.
Yea its less exposure to the lab scientist but at the same time its gradually making the labscientist less useful..that's why you guys are always against RDTs. In Accident and Emergency, even nurses comfortably run sugar level(RBS), malaria covid19 etcetera using RDT

certainly you need a lab scientists to diagnose infertility,
Kidney/Liver function failure, numerous kinds of infections and others..

If 80% of diagnosis can be derived from history and examination...then try visiting the lab in a hospital and stay for like 20mins.
See how many people comes in for one test or the other...
Why can't the doctor just prescribed drugs for them after listening to the person's symptoms.
You are probably visited a government owned hospital. In small private hospital settings, the lab is not always too busy..
You dont "certainly" need a lab to dignose kidney, liver disease, they can also be diagnosed clinically and radiologically. Lab is just for confirmation, determine extent and sometimes monitor treatment..lab is important no doubt, but u don't bring down a profession just to elevate your medlab..stop the whole idea of doctors are blind without lab
