While

Spg3000 2.8kva max, 2.5 rated output

good evening gurus, I bought a sumec firman 2.5 kva a week ago. I noticed this evening that it started giving sound like it wanted to off. I initially thought it was fuel but there was still fuel inside. I decided to top the oil. in doing that I noticed oil was dripping from a part of the generator which I will upload the pictures. What's the solution? Oil is leaking from that black like box below the choke. been trying to upload pictures but it isn't going through.

Instead to confirm if truly there is still fuel upset he fuel guage on the tank or bend it slightly to the tap side if sound change then you need fuel top up. Don't do that topup oil again. Reduce the oil, open the black box to check if air filter is soaked with oil. If soaked use fuel to soak/remove oil and dry it, then fix back. Also check the spark plug if soaked with oil...

The quality of fuel we buy also determines how long it would last on usage,I change the filling station I usually buy fuel ,5litrs of fuel doesn't usually last more than 4 hours for me but to my surprise after 6 hours I turned off the gen and I still have some fuel left in the tank..


Try a new petrol station today and come back with a testimony.

Time of buying fuel matter. I prefer to buy my fuel before 9am in the morning. Once the sun set out and there is heat. I don't buy fuel from gas stations

Check/replace AVR/capacitor depending the one you're gen use

Thanks for this, since it's still under a 3 month warranty, I spoke with their customer service and they asked me to bring it to Ikeja for checks... Am guessing they are going to perform a compression test on it to find out if the rings are bad which I doubt... Please let's talk on phone, can you drop your no? Mine is 08053651298

Don't mind me the scatter i mean is not set well. No be today u don dey service am but as it don dey pour fuel now you no set am well, loose it again probably you can see/figure the error

You have scatter the carburator settings go and buy another carburator

1.Attached is the Gen pics...
2.For sound and vibration I guess it's OK, no issues.
3.I put on the Gen say 3 - 4hrs daily average.
4. During last service, Oil was about a little below half mark (E no Guage).
5. I put exactly 0.6L of Oil as stated in the owners manual.
6. Am using total quart 5000 (20w50) currently ... When I bought the generator, it came with firman oil, but had to switch to total because it's readily available close to me.
7. Last time I had issues putting on the Gen, I removed the plug n checked the head and it was black and greasy (like carbon mixed with fuel or so)
8. My total load is about 900watts (excluding micro wave once in a while) ...gen is rated 3600 running watts..

If oil is a little below half it still guage anything below low level generator will not start or OFF when ON. Also consider to change your oil to oando

Check the airfilter if soaked.
Call a good engineer to check the valve settings and sitting adjustment for you...

This same Gen was bought brand new in Feb. Last service was 28th March, as on today see the oil level (barely 2weeks plus, it's burnt halfway) na so E suppose dey burn oil? How many hours do you on it daily?
When you service last where did the oil guage to? Hope u didn't pour little oil into it when serviced?
Which oil brand are you using?
Have you check your spark plug head?


Smoke puff for few seconds is normal when we ON generator, so I won't consider that as an issue,

So what if it's a 1.5HP pump? This generator will even struggle with a 1Hp pump.

Sumec firmam SPG3000ES will power 1.5hp conveniently. Remove that struggle you put there. That's what I am using and I pump water twice every week with it...

Thank boss I was misled and they even stood on their ground that it's rated 4.5kva but they just wrote 2.8kva so that I won't carry more load on it

Thanks for the swift reply, was starting to think something was wrong as it wasn't doing that before, just recently started noticing the heavy cloud of smoke once I open up the choke that stops after some seconds

Change your oil when due for service that's all. You're good to go. Even new generator, when started it will surely puff smoke for few seconds before it's not visible.

Stop wasting your time and disturbing yourself. Go and buy coleman cable 2.5mm or the flexible, you're good to go.

Which price did he sold it to you. If it's above the market price I will advise you return it but if it's around the sumec price take it cos sumec fireman is a rugged generator.

It is normal your generator is working fine.

That is how someone here got me connect him with a 2004 Toyota Camry partner on my street. He paid the first week but gave diverse stories of how car gave him issues. For two weeks, he didn't deliver a dime.

I was enraged to the point of pressing charges against him but the owner said he want no trouble. We took the car and went home.
