Religion / 7 Stunning Bible Facts About Bride Price by Sufdavinci(m): 6:30pm On Apr 16, 2016
For many Africans, the tradition of the bride price payment became a subject of serious controversy. If God specifically gave this law as a condition for marriage, or is it a man-made tradition? Time to find out the truth! 1. Bride price is not a condition for marriage but only as a penalty for rape. Exodus 22:16-17: “If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife. If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he must still pay the bride-price for virgins.” Deuteronomy 22:28-29: “If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father fifty shekels[a] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.” You can still pay the bride price and still be denied the woman to be your wife by her father. At the same time, if the man has never slept with the woman, there should be no need to pay money for her. 2. There was never ever a place in the Bible where God commanded the bride’s parent to present a price. It is the groom’s responsibility to bring whatever for the lady he wants to marry. For example, in the Bible was Isaac’s marriage to Rebekah. There was no monetary exchange or penalty between the two families. Affordable gifts were given to Rebekkah’s family by Abraham (but not demanded by Rebekkah’s family). Read Genesis 24:52-54. 3. Bride price, according to the Bible, is all about virgins. Genesis 24:15-16: “Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milkah, who was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor. The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.” 4. Payment of monetary bride price is a tradition and not a direct commandment from God. In some countries like India, a woman actually pays a dowry for the groom and not the other way round. 5. Presenting list or asking for monetary bride price is man made a rule. Therefore, it becomes a sin because it’s better to obey GOD rather than men. Acts 5:29: “Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!”

Politics / Defence Counsel Does An 'orubebe' In Court by Sufdavinci(m): 10:40pm On Apr 07, 2016
– Former minister, Godsday Orubebe’s lawyer pulls
stunt in court
– Shouts at the chairman of the CCT
– CCT head asks for apology from defence counsel

Just like Godsday Orubebe, a former Minister of
the Federal republic of Nigeria caused a stir at the
collation centre last year, his lawyer ranted in court
today.

Reports reaching us have it that the counsel to
Elder Godsday Orubebe, Larry Selekeowei (SAN) did
an ‘Orubebe’ at the court on Thursday, April 7.
According to Vanguard, the trial of the former
minister over allegations that he falsified his assets
declaration in 2007 kicked off on a dramatic note
when his lawyer got into a hot exchange of words
with the Justice Danladi Umar-led panel of the
Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
Trouble began when the Director of Public
Prosecution (DPP) Mohammed Diri moved to
tender into evidence, the Certificate of Occupancy
(C of O) and the Right of Occupancy (R of O), of
Plot No. 2057 Asokoro District Abuja, which
Orubebe reportedly failed to declare as his
property.

Samuel Madojemu, an investigative officer at the
Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), was the star
witness the federal government brought to testify
against the former minister and attempted to
tender the documents into evidence before the
drama began.

The point when Orubebe’s lawyer was adducing
reasons why the documents and an accompanying
letter from the Federal Capital Territory
Department of Land Administration should not be
admitted into evidence was when the unrest
started.

One of the judges on the CCT panel, Agwaza
Atedze, interjected and asked the defence lawyer
to streamline his argument to specific contents of
the document before the tribunal, a remark which
got Selekeowei really angry and he ‘rudely’
reprimanded the judge.

He ranted in court: “Why are you interjecting into my
submission like this? I am making a point, you have
not even allowed me to land! You are interfering with
this proceeding and it is wrong!

“You are the Judge, you should allow me to make my
submission while you rule. Allow me do my work,
yours is to be neutral. Why are you doing this?”
Justice Umar, chairman of the CCT quickly made
efforts to pacify the infuriated lawyer, but like his
principal’s drama at the collation centre during the
2015 presidential election, the SAN continued
shouting: “I am making a submission and someone
is interfering and you expect me to keep quite, that
cannot happen!

The continuous ranting of the legal counsel got the
Umar really angry and he asked Selekeowei to
tender an open apology for his verbal attack on the
bench.

He noted: “Are you not sitting before us. Why are
you being rude to us? You must apologise. When
there is an interjection you are not expected to rudely
shout at a Judge the way you are doing.
“You are a member of the silk, you must respect the
bench. You are expected to speak humbly and with
humility to the bench no matter what. This is not a
place to fight, it is a place to settle dispute in an
amicable way.”
And he obeyed promptly by saying: “I apologise,
though I still insist that it was wrong for anyone to
interject like that.”

Meanwhile, the federal government on Tuesday,
March 8, amended the charges against Orubebe. At
the hearing, Diri told the court that there is an
amended charge against the former minister of
Niger Delta affairs.
The fresh charge, a one-count charge borders on
fraudulent declaration of asset during his tenure as
a minister.

Diri said the initial four-count charge dated October
8, 2015 was amended and brought before the court
on Tuesday, March 8.

Politics / Nigerians Should Be Patient – Bishop Okonkwo by Sufdavinci(m): 1:15pm On Apr 02, 2016
Popular pastor and Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed
Evangelical Mission (TREM), Mike Okonkwo, has faith
in President Muhammadu Buhari to fix Nigeria, saying
that “it will be foolhardy to say things will change
overnight”.
Okonkwo, who was a vocal supporter of President
Buhari during the 2015 election, also said Nigerians
are ‘naturally impatient’ and ‘once there is a little
pressure we’ll say we don’t want again’.
While expressing confidence in Buhari’s ability to
‘change’ Nigeria, the Bishop said: “I read somewhere in
the social media a young man who said we should go
back to corruption since things appear not to be
working out well. I said so we should go back to the
vicious cycle? I replied the young man and said he
was talking nonsense.”
“Yes, things are not too stable but that is to tell you
the rot the nation has degenerated to. You see, we are
not fighting corruption. Nigeria is corruption.
Everywhere you turn, every sector you turn, you find
corruption.”
“From the messenger to driver to the boss, everyone
is involved. Corruption has become a second nature to
us. The truth is you hardly find anyone that has not
been dragged into the industry of corruption. It is as
bad as that. Corruption has become the biggest
industry in the nation.”
“Now that Buhari is there, it will be foolhardy to say
things will change overnight. Buhari will not completely
eradication corruption because it’s been with us for
decades. If anyone is expecting Buhari to change this
even if he stays for 15 years, the person is not being
sincere. I believe the current administration is fighting
so hard to put things in place. The things we are
seeing is corruption fighting back. We have saboteurs
in the system that will take time to be detected and
flushed out.”
“There are people enjoying where we were. They were
making it with the situation we had then. They have a
lot of money in their hands so they can do anything;
they can create problems. But if we endure a lot, I
believe things will be better.”
“I believe the current crop of leaders will fix this
nation. That is why some people are fighting them
back. It is because they know within themselves that
they can deliver.”
“They have wonderful programmes. The budget has
just been passed. So, let’s watch between now and
end of the year for things to start taking shape.”

Travel / Man Gets Entire Plane To Himself by Sufdavinci(m): 8:56am On Feb 05, 2016
A holidaymaker found himself unexpectedly onboard
a "private jet" when no one else showed up for the
flight.
Alex Simon, 28, a travel blogger from Ischgl, Austria,
was stunned to discover he was the only one
onboard the Philippine Airlines flight from Manila to
Boracay.

Simon took a video of the bizarre experience, in
which he visits the pilots in the cockpit, and jokes
around with his personal flight attendants.
Alex Simon was the only passenger on a Philippine
Airlines flight from Manila to Boracay.

He told the Daily Mail when he arrived at the airport,
his name was called over the loudspeaker and he
was asked to make his way to the information
counter.
Staff explained the flight would be leaving in 30
minutes instead of the scheduled two hours because
he was the only passenger.
"I was little bit surprised and I couldn't believe it," he
told the Daily Mail .
"I thought I was dreaming. Later while boarding I just
realised that it's gonna be a special flight because
this time I didn't even need to line up."
When he boarded the plane, he asked the flight
attendant if he could take a window seat.
"She just answered, 'You can sit anywhere, because
you're the only one passenger'."
Simon said he was told flights between the
Philippines capital and the tourist island of Boracay
were normally packed.
"It was an unforgettable feeling to take a flight to
the one of the most beautiful islands of the world,
but to be alone and feel like a superstar it made it
more special."
Simon posted the video to his YouTube channel last
February, but this week it was picked up by Digg.

But he is by no means the first passenger to
experience the private jet treatment.
Last year British man Nigel Short boarded an Air
Zimbabwe flight from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls
to find he was the only passenger.
Despite the unlimited seating options on offer, Short
chose to sit in his assigned economy seat rather
than move to first or business class.

Politics / EFCC Never Asked Me To Return Money – Falae by Sufdavinci(m): 11:59pm On Jan 17, 2016
The National Chairman of the Social Democratic
Party, Chief Olu Falae, on Sunday, dismissed
reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, EFCC, ordered him to refund the
N100m he collected from a former Chairman of the
Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party,
Chief Tony Anenih.

Falae was recently accused of benefitting from the
$2.1bn funds meant for the procurement of arms
for the military fighting insurgents in the north-east.
It will be recalled that while admitting that the said
money was transferred to him, he said it was
meant to mobilize voters for the PDP in the last
election.

Subsequent reports have had it that he was asked
by the EFCC to return the controversial funds.
But speaking with The Punch, Falae affirmed that
no one ever asked him to return the money, which
was alleged to have come from the embattled
former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo
Dasuki (rtd).

Falae said, “The PDP gave me money and I gave
the money to the SDP, which has confirmed receipt
of the money. No one has asked me to return any
money.”

He said, “I did not tell anyone that I was asked to
return the money. The reports showed great bias
towards me.”

Indeed some people were calling the shots. If you go opp the force headquarters in Abuja, you will see a large billboard saying vote APC to defeat bokoaram.

Excellent and well articulated piece.

Anything for security of this country is welcome by me. With all due respect to chibok gals abducted, had our army consider this path as doctrine of necessity to safe guard the north eastern towns and villages overrun by Boko haram following abduction of chibok gals, unnecessary hardships and death would have been prevented.

Rescuing chiboks shouldn't have been at d expense of the lives and properties of poor and innocent Nigerians living in d North east. Weda we like it or not, collateral damage is inevitable in any type of warfare but d most important thing is to pray not to be a victim of it.

If President Buhari was in Buratai shoes, he would have done the same thing d army did let's not mince word about it.

A mild drama played out during the courtesy visit
of Comrade Daniel Onjeh, the candidate of the All
Progressive Congress (APC) for the 2016 Benue
South Senatorial rerun election to the Royal
Highness (HRH), Agaba Idu Elias Ikoyi Obekpa, the
Och’ Idoma IV in Benue state.

This drama played out when His Royal Highness
(HRH), Agaba Idu Elias Ikoyi Obekpa, called on the
Och’ Otukpo Odu, Chief John Eiyemonye to pray in
the traditional way before the commencement of
the business of the day.

The Och’ Otukpo Odu in the final phase of the
prayer broke a kolanut into three pieces and threw
them up; The Palace went into a frenzy when all
the three broken pieces of kolanut faced up.
This was followed by hushed tones discussions
that revolve around the significance of the
outcome of the broken pieces of kolanut throw.
The gathering in a unanimous judgment concluded
that it was a good and a sign of good things to
come as even the “gods” has endorsed Comrade
Daniel Onjeh as the next senator of Benue South
Senatorial District.

Naij.com recalls that the election of the immediate
past Senate president, David Mark, was nullified by
a Court Of Appeal sitting in Makurdi, the Benue
state capital . The court also reportedly ordered for
a re-run election within 90 days.

In reaction to the the court ruling for a re-run of
the Benue South Senatorial election, the returning
officer who conducted the election, Professor Latif
Tiamiyu, has reportedly said the election which
produced David Mark as the winner was free and
fair.

Politics / Diezani Alison-madueke Secretly Obtains Foreign Citizenship by Sufdavinci(m): 3:53am On Dec 20, 2015
The embattled former oil minister, Diezani Alison-
Madueke, was about to travel to the
Commonwealth of Dominica, however, cancer and
the arrest in the British capital, London ,
have ruined her plan.

Fresh investigations by SaharaReporters show the
ex-minister has reportedly acquired a diplomatic
passport of the small island country with a total
population of just 72,000.

The report claims investigators in the UK and
Nigeria discovered that Diezani has secretly
obtained the citizenship of the Commonwealth of
Dominica. The passport, number DP0000445, valid
from May 21, 2015, to May 20, 2020, has been
issued.

The prime minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit,
confirmed this fact in a letter dated May 29, 2015,
addressed to one of the UK’s anti-corruption and
civil society groups.

Alison-Madueke was also offered a post of the
country’s trade and investment commissioner.
However, no allowance has been offered for her:
the former minister should have promoted trade
and investments in Dominica on a free basis. In
return, she would have received all the necessary
assistance and protection from this country in
accordance with the international law.

The development has sparked diplomatic concerns.
An undisclosed source of SaharaReporters
narrated:

“I think the NCA – National Crime Agency – is
suspecting that she acquired the citizenship of the
Commonwealth of Dominica with the intent to
relocate to this country. This has opened a fresh
bend into our investigation.

“It is not impossible that she had planned to escape
to Dominica ahead of the inauguration of the
administration of President Muhammadu Buhari
because her appointment ought to be effective from
June 1, 2016, for an initial period of three years.
“She has been placed under stricter surveillance in
the light of the latest development.

“While the diplomatic aspect is being handled by the
appropriate quarters, I can tell you that the NCA is
collaborating with many agencies to bring her to
account for any allegation against her.

“The NCA is conducting extensive investigation into
the oil deals during the tenure of Diezani, irrespective
of her ongoing treatment for cancer.”

It would be noted that earlier this week there were
fears of Alison-Madueke’s demise . However, it was
a false alarm and, despite the former minister has
not fully recovered from chemotherapy yet, she is
alive.

Politics / Dasuki Got $47m In 11 Suitcases, Court Told by Sufdavinci(m): 11:57pm On Dec 11, 2015
The trail by government on how about $2billion meant for arms purchased to battle the Boko Haram insurgency was diverted for other purposes continues to reveal shocking acts on the part of officials responsible for appropriating the funds.
Mr. Shuaibu Salisu, a former Director of Finance in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), revealed how $47million cash was withdrawn from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in 11 suit cases, which he delivered to the former NSA, Sambo Dasuki. According to him, the money might have been given to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains to prosecute the 2015 elections. Salisu made the revelation in a Statement of Witness/Accused he wrote under oath while with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The statement was attached to the charges preferred against Salisu and filed in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in preparation for his arraignment by the EFCC today before Justice H.Y. Baba and Justice P.O. Affen. He said however, that as a civil servant, he was innocent because he only carried out instructions from the ex-National Security Adviser, Mr. Mohammed Sambo Dasuki.
Salisu, who said he did not benefit from all the slush funds from the CBN, said: “I could remember on the 20/11/2014 , I was directed by the NSA, M.S. Dasuki to go to the CBN and collect the sum of $47m in cash and the balance in Euro and the directive was obeyed and the monies were delivered to the NSA in about 11 suit cases.
“I acknowledged the receipt of the money from the CBN which was handed over to M.S. Dasuki. “I think the monies were meant for PDP. After delivery, I left, I did not see or know when the money was distributed.
“I did not benefit even one cent. The request for the funds was tagged Special Services signed by the NSA, M.S. Dasuki, addressed to the Governor of CBN.
“I did not know the source of the money into our CBN Account. The foreign currencies that I collected from the CBN were delivered to the NSA in his house, No. 13, John Kadiya Street, Asokoro”, Salisu said.
The Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Justice Ishaq Bello, Thursday ordered that Salisu be either arraigned in a competent court of law if there is any basis for so doing or be released on administrative bail on terms to be settled by the applicant.

Former DAAR Communications boss, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, after being quizzed for three days.

Dokpesi was picked up Tuesday by the anti-graft agency for interrogation on the allegation of complicity in the $2.1bn scam brought against former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki.

Speaking to Africa Independent Television, AIT, after his release, Dokpesi said “It was a change of environment; it was quite peaceful, quite okay.

“I was granted bail yesterday, where they asked me to get two Directors of the federal government. I’m to also deposit my passport, but my lawyer was not available, and I said that I was not going to sign until he was.

“But then, I think what they said was that the allegation was alleged conspiracy, the issuance, the transfer of funds, what do they call it?… money laundering and then misappropriation of public funds.

“But I’m a loyal Nigerian citizen; I’m a patriotic Nigerian citizen. I have no problem and I said they are free. I would still go back. I am strong in spirit; I’m toughened.”

The media mogul in his defence had earlier maintained that he was innocent, stressing that the N2.1bn he received from the Office of the National Security Adviser was payment is for publicity and media campaigns for the former President, Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, during the 2015 general election.

Romance / Confession Of A Lagos Housewife- He Ejaculates Prematurely by Sufdavinci(m): 6:33pm On Dec 03, 2015
I am Nnenna, a Lagos housewife and I have a very special issue that needs to be dealt with urgently, it is about to ruin my marriage of over 5 years.

I and my husband had a very beautiful life together, but that was until two years into our marriage, just after we had our first and only child.

Tommy as i fondly call him had lost his job then and would not have me work, he said it was his duty to provide for his family and believed that our child would need all my attention.

I used to be marketer at one of the leading banks, while he worked with an oil firm but was retrenched due to certain unclear circumstances.

The quest for a job took a toll on my husband because we had debts to offset, so many bills left unpaid.

During that period, Tommy will go out very early only to come back very late at night. The time spent however, did not reflect on our economic status.

We were not begging but we could tell that the family was digging too deep into its reserves.

After about a year and no serious job forthcoming, Tommy decided he would go into a business of his own.

He started a business with the little we had saved over the years, he gave it his all, time, body and soul.

Tommy could be very determined and that was the spirit he put into the business, however, it was our home that suffered the brunt.

Gradually I began to feel the detachment from him, he was more connected with making the business boom, there was little or no time for me and my little boy.

Our sex life was almost dead and when we did have anything intimate it was shabby at best.

He gave numerous excuses of why his performance had drastically come to an all time low, from business thoughts to the Lagos stress that is always tied to the ever present gridlocks for no just cause.

I cried severally because i was starved not just of both love and sex, perhaps you might think I am vain but please don’t judge me till you have walked a mile in my shoes.

Tommy could not hold his own for even five minutes, no sooner than he gets in and the milk is spilt. He said he had tried several things but they just don’t work.

For months and then over a year, things continued the same way. After a while, I gave up totally, resigning to fate.

Good thing is, the business started to grown miraculously, but the more it grew, the distant my husband became from me.
There was no day without a meeting, the weekends were spent virtually at his business place, only on rare occasions did I and my son go visiting there.

I was idle, and perhaps that was the avenue for certain things to happen, things I am not so proud to mention.

The most crazy of all that I began to indulge in, is basically living on socio-media. While I bore my heart in subtle Tweets and Facebook posts, I wore a hypocritical look on Instagram.

My photos bearing faked smiles, hid my inner torment, but there was this guy who could read between the lines, he introduced himself to me as Benson.

He was about 10years younger than myself and twenty years younger than my husband. But he was smart and witty, I was caught off-guard.

Benson made me pour my heart to him in such a way that I felt exposed, and before I could blink, we were dating.

From internet chats we advanced to calls and texts, before I knew it, I was inviting this young man into my matrimonial home.

He was young but Benson sure did know how to treat a lady, there was never a boring moment with him, as his wits exuded effortlessly.

Soon I was almost forgetting that I had a husband, it was more like living with yet another flat mate, as all we did whenever my husband got back from work was brief chats (boring) and off to bed.

Whenever he got into his room to sleep, I got talking with Benson under the guise of staying with my tender son. We would do all sorts of crazy stuffs over the phone and I felt like a teenager again.

The first day I and Benson made love, it stirred a wild passion in me and I could not get enough of him. I would invite him over on certain weekends, we would meet up at his place on other days and somehow I never got caught.

Few days ago, my husband came back with a gift, it was a brand new Toyota corolla. He told me he knew that he had not been living up to expectations and was going to make it up to me. He said very soon we would be moving into a new apartment of our own, adding that he kept it a secret to surprise me.

I was shocked, did not know what to say. I had mixed feelings, guilt, joy, astonishment all playing out at once.

We made love that night, after so long, it was the same. He came prematurely, I really wanted to confront him but something kept holding me back.

The house we talked about is almost set, the future looks bright again. But beyond the money and the comfort, a woman has other needs.

I really want to get rid of Benson, but do not know how to go about it. Especially because I cannot get enough of all he does to me, besides, my husband still has his chronic case of premature ejaculation.

Honestly, I am perplexed and that is why I have written this. I know my problem sounds a like trivial and selfish to a large extent, but I really need help, I cannot pleasure myself for life to stay faithful to my husband.

Please what can I do to salvage what is left of my life and marriage, Tommy might soon sense my detachment to him, he might become suspicious of certain moves I make. I need to be satisfied but my husband can’t give what I want.

William Masvinu, a three time Mr Ugly title holder in Zimbabwe, has been dethroned.
Masvinu quest for a fourth consecutive title suffered a major setback after he was defeated by 42-year-old Maison Sere at the pub pageant organized in Harare.

Maison Sere, who was missing several teeth and dressed in torn overalls, beat off five other contestants (including Masvinu) to emerge winner of the competition.

Sere walked away with $500 (about N100, 000) cash prize as the winner, which amounts to quite a large sum in a country facing massive unemployment.

Sere told newsmen: “I want to thank God for winning this title, last time I came fourth. I just want to thank the judges for recognising me as the winner.”
However, despite a second place finish, William Masvinu, who walked off with a $100 (about N20,000), cried foul.

He said: “The judges were not fair, the organisers must look for new judges to start the contest afresh. I did not lose today.”
Show organiser David Machowa said he created the pageant in 2012 to celebrate “beauty in ugliness”.

“The show last night was very successful, and I still have plans to host Mr Ugly world,” he said.

The organisers of the event also plan to launch a female version of the competition and expand it to other African countries.
In 2012 when Mr Masvinu won the ‘beauty pageant’, there were only five participants. He won $100 dollars and a voucher for a night’s stay at a hotel, which he changed for food. Masvinu hoped that the victory would bring him advertising contracts but his expectations didn’t meet reality.
