Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Job Hunting Is Tough. by Suicideboy: 2:21am On Aug 12, 2025 |
There are way too employees than employers in nigeria, no body wants to create, its all about the endlesss consumption.
Your degreee is just a piece of paper, you paid a million bucks to get a piece of paper in return, money you could have used to get a quality education online ( thanks to mit and stanford), get decent skills and focus on marketing your skills to rich boomers.
Many people dont know the essence of a degree, they go to school, come out then start looking for job. I remember my ex who was the top of her class med field, one thing led to another she got barred and her license witheld for unauthorised practices, today she earns $500k per week doing dwb surg.
For me having a job seems restrictive, i like my freedom. Thats why i stick to freelance gigs and starting a business which i will like to leave for my unborn kids maybe do few gigs like independent film making or book writing.

A lot of people willing give their numbers out to people who dox them to data brokers.
You think true caller is helping you detect scam callers or the likes of snapchat giving you delusioned privacy
Having worked for a telecomm, with someone phone i can query for some details including list of people you interact and sell your details or clone your sim for the higher bidders.

Life is meaningless but you can choose to give your life meaning
I am not talking endless consumerism and hedonism a lots of nigerian zbeba engage in
Or you could end it all by kicking the bucket that way you are free from suffering because life is full of suffering whether you are rich or poor

A lot of us are getting away with stuff because we have not come to the attention of authorities
You think if I did something during service that embarrassed NYSC officials they would not have come for me?
Raye unfortunately is a social media hog and she posts her life on SM. So anyone giving her a job can expect she will post it one way or another. Maybe even with the aim of peppering.
The point about kemi adeosun actually solidifies the case. Kemi apparently was blocking some oversight of a business rofo rofo. So they wanted her out and the NYSC cert was all they needed.
If my memory serves they asked me. If we are sure NYSC doesn't matter most people will skip it. It is a waste of a year for most of us.

Ovems: Police said no sigh of foul play. Maybe he died of natural causes? 🤷. I know 'no sigh of foul play' may mean that he wasn't killed but we can only hope that he didn't succumb to depression. Read that he was in a drunk driving incident in June and his currently airing dramas had to reduce his scenes. It is well.
I remember watching an interview of Ji Chang Wook where he said that he still lives with his mother and some people were making fun of him. He explained that it helps his mental health, coming home and seeing his mum doing normal stuff, maybe watching TV or doing other regular things. The pressure of the job and industry can be too much at times. It's ok to find some form of normalcy. Its kinda hard for someone to get killed in south korea the land pf cctv Ji chang na mummy boy for life |

majesticguy: To Kill a Monkey (2025):5.6/10
I don’t often see Nigerian films or series, but the buzz on social media and Nollywood fans hyping To Kill a Monkey as “the next big thing after jollof rice” convinced me to give it a shot. Here’s my take on how it played out.
✅ What Worked:
Acting William Benson and Bucci Franklin(Ozzy Boy & Efe) absolutely stole the show. Their performances were raw, authentic, and emotionally gripping, carrying the series with undeniable chemistry.
Cinematography & Sound Lagos comes alive with stunning visuals gritty streets and tense atmospheres are captured beautifully. The music score perfectly complements the mood of each scene.
Relatable Story This is the crown jewel of the series. The way it captures everyday Nigerian struggles, financial hardship, family pressures, and crushing societal expectations hits home hard. It’s the standout element that made the show resonate deeply with viewers, reflecting the gritty reality of life a Nigerian living in Nigeria today.
❌ What Didn’t Work.
Cybercrime/AI Concept The premise of a cybercrime thriller infused with AI sounded intriguing, but it fell flat. Beyond dialogue, there’s little to no action or tangible tech elements to back up the hype. As a tech enthusiast I wanted to see how, but it never happened.
Subplots & Character Arcs Several subplots start strong but fizzle out, leaving characters like Sparkle and Teacher underdeveloped and underutilized.
Ending The final episodes feel rushed, cramming too much into too little time. The resolution lacks impact and fails to tie up the story satisfyingly.
To Kill a Monkey is a visually impressive and well-acted Nigerian crime drama with a story many can relate to. However, it falls short in its cybercrime portrayal and has some uneven storytelling. It's a decent watch, but not as groundbreaking as the hype suggests. Shows by netflix tends to be sloppy as hell |

Gerrard59: The question is: who is a middle class Nigerian? What does a middle class family in Nigeria look like? How much do they earn? What do they spend on? How do we assess middle class families? What's middle class in Lagos could pass as upper middle class in Kaduna. There is no such thing as middle class in nigeria |

tensazangetsu20: One thing I tend to like about chile is how neat everywhere is. I don’t know if they used chemicals or how they did it but the last time I saw a rat, housefly or mosquito was 2 years ago in Nigeria. In Lagos you will see big rats everywhere 😂. I never see rat for chile o. Dey play Chile get their own rat which them call capbara |

kangminhyuksho: Lmao 🤣🤣 well done. You even try. I rate it 2/10. I watched it and totally forgot about it. The only good thing about the drama was park shin hye's and the villains acting just as you pointed out. There was zero chemistry between the main leads so the romance was very bleh. Don't even get me started on the spiritual? Aspect. The drama was bleh. Nah it was interesting and had good rating plus FL good acting skills |

I don't really know what Wong Kar Wai was cooking with the cinematography and the first few minutes of the flick, where it leads like a crime tale. But the deeper I got into this flick the clearer the realization that this isn't what I expected or thought it to be.
Wong Kar Wai has this very distinct auteur style of storytelling and directiy. He's like the David Lynch of Asia. Also has that weird uneasy taste in sound design and music score.
It's a weird tale about human connections and loneliness. One thing you can always count on Wong Kar Wai to deliver on is emotions, loneliness, longing and rejection. He's a specialist in that fare.
Good film if you're looking to dig into more Asian fare away from the usual suspects — Hollywood or Korean. Watch any thing by fan chan especially made in hong kong Fan chan is an angry version of kar wong wai Park chan wook and lee dong are both on another level than kar wong |
