njokuuche77: A one-party system might work for China, but Nigeria is a different terrain entirely because we thrive on diversity and the balance of opposing views. Democracy is about options, accountability, and healthy competition. If every dissenting voice joins the ruling party, who will question excesses or check abuse of power? What’s missing isn't more defectors, it’s stronger institutions and performance based politics. Nigeria doesn’t need fewer parties, what we need are parties that actually serve the people not just switch sides for survival of stomach infrastructure. We dey watch una. This is what happens when the opposition is as bad as the government. Instead of the opposition building political parties that are discipline with ideas and values. There is enough mileage in the failed government of Tunubu to garner support for a nationwide Obidient protest. papyjaypaul: This question is like how people want Soyinka to also protest since he protested in the past. Nigeria must thank the West. Without colonisation, there will still be nationwide slavery, ritual killing and poverty, which have returned since the West has left.
Nigeria should pay reparations to the West for providing governance, education and health care technology.
The second largest country with slaves in the world was the Sokoto Caliphate in the 1860s. That's why the Hausa people are the majority of beggars today. The South (Lagos, Calabar, Opobo) had to be bombed by the British Navy to stop slavery. |

When Tinubu was in opposition, dem no de miss colloquim. Dem go organize lectures, concerts and everything they had to protest against the government. They used their media power, from print to radio and TV to online.
Sowore, if you continue to hate on Obi instead of talking about what you want to do, you will continue to look small. It's not lost on me that the attention of the youth and Nigerians Obi captured was what Sowore had been fighting for for a long time, hoping that the online army will choose him as their Sahara general. It's a dumb strategy to keep attacking Obi, you will win him more sympathy even from those who never liked him. If you give 100 million to 800 people to set up factories in Nigeria and employ 50 people at least, you have created 40,000 jobs. If you even make it 10 million to 8000 SME's, to employ just 7 to 10 people, you have created almost 80,000 jobs, boosted production, increase our GDP, and reduced unemployment.
Why did God punish us with these kind of leaders? Our forefathers must have sacrificed a virgin that swore for Nigeria. Maybe on the independence day in 1960, there was an unholy sacrifice and the person swore that Nigeria will always have terrible leaders. Politics › Re: Two Decades Of Nigeria And Argentina GDP - StatiSense (Pics) by sulaak(m): 8:28am On May 02, 2025 |
ALTERNATEID: In terms of real output, our economic performance has not dropped since 2023. In fact, more businesses are making huge money and recording crazy profits.
In Naira terms, our GDP has grown astronomically. Funny enough, when it comes to discussing national debt, hypocritical folks like this guy would argue that we should discuss in Naira terms since Naira is our reporting currency and not the USD but when it comes to discussing GDP, they switch quickly to the USD and ignore the Naira.
Every sensible person knows that the fall in our USD GDP is basically an exchange rate valuation issue and has nothing to do with a drop in the real economic performance. If Tinubu decides to peg the exchange rate at $1/N450 today like Jonathan and Buhari did, our USD GDP will rise immediately to over $600billion. But then, will that add anything to the real performance?
Only a person with a brain full of cow dungs would see the figures of our net foreign reserve and national indebtedness as at 2023 and still argue that we should have continue to borrow to subsidize both PMS and our currency. The era of that pure foolishness is over.
Despite Argentina’s GDP, why are they still borrowing to subsidize their currency? At a time Nigeria’s net foreign reserve has jumped up to over $23 billion, Argentina with big paper value USD GDP is still running to IMF to get bailout loan of $20billion to subsidize their currency. As at today, Argentina is the most indebted country to IMF. Is that the ruinous path you all want our dear country to continue on? You want us to be using N99 out of every N100 revenue that we earn for debt servicing? Don’t you guys pity the country at all? Argentina has a diverse economy and exports a total of $150 billion in goods and services. Nigeria's exports have been reduced to $10 billion due to the moratorium on our main export, crude oil. Even the PDP's Nigeria GDP is fake, as it was based on oil exports and the control of the Naira. The country has failed to improve the electricity capacity beyond 6000MW Argentina's total installed electricity generation capacity is 40,619 MW. This includes fossil fuels (24,549 MW), hydro (10,812 MW), renewables (wind and solar: 2,903 MW), and nuclear (1,755 MW). Renewable energy sources, particularly wind and solar, are growing, with a total renewable energy capacity of nearly 16 gigawatts in 2024 |

saintopus: Is it the North that is behind Tinubu or another North?
Make I hear word 62% of Northerners voted for Tinubu; Northern governors supported Tinubu in 2023. 90% of Northerners supported Buhari. The North is useless at selecting leaders. That's why 80% of poverty is in the North. The North's most significant problem is that they are unaware of its role in the issues in Nigeria. They don't have the numbers, the NC is not part of the for North (The 10 Northern states), If owning large track of land is an indication of wealth the Russia would be the richest country in the world. “It is clear that Northern Nigeria is today bedevilled by numerous existential problems, some of which I have tried to highlight above. What is not in doubt is the fact that the North has in abundance what it takes to compete and prevail in any fair competition within the federation of Nigeria and even within the larger African continent.
“The North has 19 out of the 36 states. We also have the FCT as a varitable component. We have a majority in the Senate, the House of Representatives, the National Economic Council as well as the Council of States.
“The North occupies close to 75% of Nigeria’s land area and about 60% of the population. An area that is this big and this strong can never be subdued by any opponent provided we remain united and place our region above all other considerations. No questions about it, united we stand, divided we fall.
“The view has been expressed and it bears repeating here, that current preoccupation with the 2027 national elections is premature and a disservice to the principle of the 4-year-term-limit given to elected officials. |

With the very weak GEJ government, she was unable to implement any of her policies and reforms due to the corrupt and incompetent leadership of GEJ. Nigeria was living on high-priced crude oil exports and loans. Wale doesn't have that luxury because of the low crude oil exports and forward sales by the Bughari government. Wale's decision to remove fuel subsidies at a time when Nigeria's export earnings are at their lowest will have a significant impact on the Nigerian people. The decision to float the Naira, in my opinion, is questionable because there should always be some control. However, considering that the government had no funds to protect the Naira or even pay for imported products, I believe he made the right call. Tinubu government has failed to cut corruption or reduce government expenditure. |
