Botragelad: Boy, Ukraine didn’t start this war, they’re ending it by defending their homes from a dictator who thinks land grabs(no valid reason) is fun. What’s “senseless” is acting like Ukrainians should just hand over their country because of Putin’s ego. Would you have done that if you were in Zelensky shoes?
The man was elected by Ukrainians. You know, the people actually living there? When Russia invaded, he didn’t flee, he stayed in Kyiv, in a warzone, wearing a T-shirt, while Putin cowered behind a 20-foot table. No one “used” him, they’re supplying arms. Stop crying about it.
Name one NATO country Russia hasn’t threatened, bullied, or invaded. I’ll wait. Ukraine wanted NATO membership for the same reason you might lock your doors at night, to keep murderers out. Putin’s entire operandi is “invade neighbors.
“The U.S. wouldn’t let Mexico join a Russian alliance!” blah blah blah. NATO is a DEFENSIVE alliance. If Putin’s not planning to attack, why does he care? Russia thought they’d take Kyiv in 3 days. Bout 3 years later, their “super army” is yet to do that. So much for a "world power" Ukraine started the war when they started prosecuting Russian-speaking Ukrainians and started the process of joining NATO,, which is a threat to Russia. This the consequence of his stupid decision. In the 1960s, the USA threatened to attack Cuba because Russia was building a missile base in Cuba. |

Zooposki: They should make Lagos FCT. Abuja in the North, Lagos in the South. Federal government money developed Lagos. If they want PH, they should make Kano FCT too. Federal government money developed some parts of Lagos Island 31 years ago. I recalled Nigerians saying that Lagos would be a village once the capital was moved to Abuja. |
Politics › Re: Northern Group Asks FG To Designate Lagos, Rivers As FCTs by sulaak(m): 7:42pm On Apr 12, 2025 |
femisplash: As good as it might sound trying to democratize the FCT, it is far from being properly framed and a little too far from being logical and realistic. How reasonably practicable is it having three FCTs?. The operating word here is " federal" - meaning each region would be a host to the three arms of Government ( executive, legislative and judiciary). How possibly can we replicate three three National Assemblies, three Executives and three Supreme Courts?. Of all the three arms, the Supreme Court appears the most practicable, it kind of makes sense having Supreme Court each in Lagos, PH and Abuja, it definitely going to save lots of time and stress going all the way to Abuja for a final verdict. I have heard Senior Advocates clamour for at least one magistrate court in each Local Government. Several countries that practice multiple capitals did that by locating an arm of Government at a separate locations. For instance, a particular city houses the executive capital (the seat of power) houses, another houses the legislative capital while a third city houses the judicial capital. It would therefore be more reasonable and better suited if Nigeria could replicate the same arrangement, if there will ever be a consideration at all. Lagos as the Judicial Capital, PH as the Legislative Capital while Abuja retains the Executive Capital.Otherwise, the most acceptable idea will be to give special status to both Lagos and PH while Abuja continue being the sole FCT. Every state can be more developed than Lagos, Rivers and Abuja if only those states elect capable leaders instead of leaders only interested in sharing and equity. The North will never develop with this kind of mindset, The future of Nigeria is in the regions and not the FCT |

Hundreds of thousands want to study medicine but are denied yearly.
Polytechnics are wasting away churning out trash, universities are wasting resources teaching unwanted, outdated courses.
It's simple: Convert polytechnics into universities training highly skilled work force. Fund universities to do same.
Give everyone a chance at quality education including the poor.
Watch how the country will becomes self sufficient with skilled work force and not notice any Japa effects. Nigeria has too many universities. Nigeria has not even touched the first industrial revolution, yet Nigeria has more universities than France and UK combined. I suggest that the government close down 95% of all universities and polytechnic schools, convert them into primary and high schools, and prioritise developing industries in semi-skilled industries such as textile, farming, construction |

You take all important and consequential appointments to Southwest and spread dust to other region and then try to rationalize rubbish.

Abuja is truly no mans land. It is a land for all tribes and ethnic groups in Nigeria.
So it is not an insult to anyone calling it that. There you go again.... The indigenous inhabitants of Abuja are the Abawa (Ganagana), Basa, Gwandara, Gbagyi (Gwari) having the majority population in the region. Other groups in the area include the Gade, Dibo, Egburra, Nupe and Koro. The Gwandara speaking people in Abuja are mostly found in AMAC and Bwari Area Council. |
