$200 billion? 200 billion dollars kwa?

Can we be realistic for once in this godforsaken countryhuh
A two-hundred regional economy in the SE is a very realistic goal.

The SE has four key resources: people, land, gas, and oil. The development of an industrial-size refinery and LPG/LNG infrastructure will be valued at $50 billion to the SE. The LNG/LPG will open up an electricity power plant, petrochemical plants, and chemical plants(Ammonia, Methanol, Sythenic Ethnol), another $50 billion. Textiles, shoes, palm oil, cassava, and other light industries will be added.

With the right investment, leadership, and people. The SE, despite all its failing, has a reasonable literacy rate of over 85%

UTM Offshore is already building an FLNG in Akwa Ibom led by an Igbo man who raised $5 billion from Afrimbank.

The political leadership should coordinate the Igbo entrepreneurs in Nigeria and in the diaspora to be part of the programme.

The 1.5 is minus Condensate. OPEC doesn't count Condensate. But you are right. The APC is a disgrace. The Buhari and Tinubu government have been a total failure in the energy sector. In 2022, Nigeria's export was 900,000.

It is heartbreaking but unsurprising to see that 14 of those young girls are from Akwa Ibom state. This is the direct consequence of decades of failed leadership in a state that should be an economic powerhouse but instead produces some of the most impoverished and vulnerable citizens in Nigeria.

For years, Akwa Ibom governors have prioritized road construction over job creation, industrialization, and human capacity development. They build roads that lead nowhere while their people roam those same streets in search of opportunities that do not exist. The state is rich in oil, yet its indigenes are forced to migrate to Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt to take on demeaning jobs, and in the worst cases, fall victim to human trafficking and prostitution.

How can a state so blessed with human and natural resources consistently rank among the top in child trafficking and modern slavery? Because the leadership cares more about contracts than building a future for its people. Without industries, vocational training programs, or real economic empowerment initiatives, the youth are left with no options but to fend for themselves however they can.

Until Akwa Ibom leaders wake up and prioritize the welfare of their citizens, this cycle of poverty, exploitation, and disgrace will continue. The people must demand better—because the alternative is an entire generation lost to suffering and servitude.

Shame!
The governor of Akwa Ibom is building an 18-storey skyscraper in Lagos state. The state should be building the Ibom deep sea port, which was approved 5 years ago. Yet the useless governors of that state is building airlines Ibom Air and skyscrapers in Lagos State. Delta State and Akwa Ibom get the largest state FAAC with little or no social development.

Very soon, useless news analysts Kevin Emmanuel and Ojy Okpe will start blaming the South West for blocking development in the SE and SS.

Look no further than the useless state governors in those regions.

Lagos state is building its third metro line, yet River state spent $400 million on a mono-line in 2011 and has nothing to show for it.

Nigerians refuse to accept the truth. The National Grid system is redundant; a grid system designed and built in the 1970s has no value in today's Nigeria. Just like a poorly maintained car has to be replaced, the Nation Grid must be replaced, starting with a move to state and regional grid. One nation is not by force; there is not one single government institution that is functional.

Located in the heart of Victoria Island, Ibom Towers will serve as an iconic structure aimed at boosting investments and economic ties, directly benefiting Lagos and Akwa Ibom. Governor Sanwo-Olu welcomed the development, highlighting Lagos' longstanding role as Nigeria's centre for commerce.31 Oct 2024

Lol - grandstanding, idealistic platitudes.

Nigeria strength is being strong and dominant in its locality first. Same goes for any strong economy.

Vietnam is the cautionary tale. Productivity without local strength is = to offshore sweat shop at the risk of whim of a Donald Trump. Bangladesh?

Local relevance precedes international recognition. Just ask SA.
You set your target high, so the deficit will not be too much if you fall short.

Nigeria will only archive it goals if it aims to compete with successful middle powers such as Turkey and Vietnam.

Hmm somehow and in spite of it all Nigeria is still the start up capital of Africa for funds raised and the odd unicorns thrown in here and there. Government never create tech ecosystems anywhere in the world simply because innovation cannot be legislated. Government can facilitate it and that's about it. Government can also ensure that IP is protected through the courts and that the sum of it
The rest is messy innovation and collaboration.

Nigeria is not Kenyas mate in the tech ecosystem or fund raising world by any means. Nigeria itself has a robust internal and indigenous VC system.

Let's give it up for the brilliant and irrepressible Nigerian spirit. We have something that other nations eould bottle and sell if they could
A serious country will be comparing itself with Vietnam, India , Singapore and not other African countries.

givedemwotowoto:
Why Am I posting about this? Because this is a very important topic. You ask what Buhari and Tinubu could've done without high oil price? They could've pursued other big revenue sources like tech. It was during APC’s government that AI really took off in the world, but what did Nigeria do? Nothing but blaming 16 years of PDP leadership, 16 years of Nigeria's biggest growth till date since 1999.

In 2013 Kenya officially launched the Konza Technolpolis project which was designed to be Africa's own version of Silicon Valley. This project showcased that Kenya was serious about being the tech center of Africa, and when AI took off, Kenya became its place of outsourcing.

AI's rapid growth today, is in part, due to the affordability of outsourcing aspects of it to developing economies while the developed economies focus on leveraging these technologies to build realworld products like cars.

Nigeria needs innovative leadership, that is, leadership that encourages and supports innovation, not one that seeks to divide Nigerians and the country for political gain.
Nigeria will use AI for Yahoo, Yahoo. A country where the political elite are clamouring for more states instead of data centre, power stations and better internet access. AI doesn't work on generators

The earlier we Non Muslim Yoruba understand that Yoruba unity is a farce, the better. One needs to realise that the Yoruba country has already been divided at least along two major lines of sentiments or factors........Islam and Non Islam. If you know how deep the division looks likehuh? Hmmmm, an average Yoruba Muslim is ready show support to a northern Muslim to the detriment of a non Yoruba Muslim any day and any time, being Yoruba does not count anything for them, that line of Yoruba cultural bond means nothing to them, they'll side with Fulani, Hausa or any other who is a Muslim against you without a blink, the religion comes first. I have experienced this at workplace, i am giving you a firsthand experience. I am saying it with utmost concern that the supposed Yoruba nation is not as unified as we think, religion has destroyed that fabric that our ancestors and culture have sown to guide the creed that ought to bind us. I am very sure 90% of the Yoruba who are Muslims are against this professor's write up, as they consider the sultan as their head, and are ready to do anything he says, they don't consider any Yoruba pride, it means nothing to them. I can tell you that a non Muslim Yoruba be it Christian, traditionalist, atheists or whatever has more in common with people from the southeast, southsouth or middlebelt than a Yoruba who is a Muslim, even more in common with Muslims of other regions than Muslims who are of his kith and kin.
Do you know an average Yoruba Muslim. Ignorant fool

No, you direct it to the Sultan of Sokoto, who is behind this imposition, and let the Yoruba Muslims understand that we know their game. The Fulani have lost power and are now trying to use Islam as a back door into power.

But why is the restriction coming from a traditional leader, the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru? Shouldn't this come from either the state environment department or the state government office?

Rano was the last Hausa city conquered by the Fulani, and the Fulani were the city's overlords. Islam has been used as an instrument to dominate the conquered Hausa.

A second airport makes perfect sense to support the Island economy and the free trade zone, Lekki Port, Eko Atlantic and Dangote Refinery. That is already a $100 billion economy. The Ikeja airport will support the mainland. The new port is a PPP project, and the Lagos state government is providing land and political support.

I wish the Cross River State government continued Donald Duke's good work with Tinapa and transformed the state into a technology and tourist hub.

1. I know that this is the claim of Muslims initially: like
Mubarak Bala, was a Nigerian atheist and humanist, was imprisoned for blasphemy in Kano State. Bala was sentenced to 24 years in prison for a Facebook post he made in 2020 that some considered to be insulting to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad. He spent four years in prison

If Bala was not a Muslim, how does blasphemy law work against him.

2. Secondly, I asked you a simple question. In Yoruba societies (Your president is an example) , the husband is Muslim and the wife is a Christian. Some of the children are Muslims while some are Christians. So

Tell me sincerely how you will judge this case according to the Sharia
A Muslim father dies but 2 of his 4 children are Christians. What does the Sharia of Allah say about sharing of Inheritance?

Would the Christian children get anything from their father's estate according to Sharia?

Nigeria practices the judiciary, executive, and legislative branches of government based on secular laws, not a theocracy based on religious faith. We can't afford to allow Nigerian laws to be interpreted by any religious belief.

Northern Nigeria is the template that provides me with a clear understanding of why Sharia courts and laws must be checkmated at all stages. Kwara is a terrible example to use as a template for why the six Yoruba states must practice Sharia court. Kwara's cultural appropriation by the Fulani hierarchy is why the Yorubas state must avoid Sharia court.

Finally, in the age of AI, Space Travel and Genomics, Nigerians are debating Sharia courts, which is very disappointing and a backward step.
