IbeOkehie: When Nigerians struggle, fight & die to implement a system based on FREEDOM, then they can ask for good government. Everything the USA has, THE PEOPLE fought and died for it. In the USA an individual can own land, whereas in Nigeria nobody can own land. That's a STARK, material difference.
Nigeria is a democracy. If the people don't like the pay & benefits of political office holders, vote them out at the next election. Some patriots can form a party based on an ideology of service to the people, they can swear to reject their salaries when elected. Nigerian politicians do what they do because the people signal approval by voting for them.
Fuel subsidies have existed in Nigeria since 1973. In 2014 a political party campaigned on a slogan that "there is nothing like subsidy, fuel subsidy doesn't exist". The current President Tinubu was the National Leader of the party in that election, in fact he was the leader of Occupy Nigeria protests in Jan 2012.
President Buhari was a Minister of Petroleum around 1977 and President of Nigeria from 1983 to 1985. I can pull you newspaper headlines from 1984 where Buhari was negotiating with the IMF about removing fuel subsidies in Nigeria. Yet this same Muhammadu Buhari and his party told Nigerians "there's nothing like subsidy. Subsidy doesn't exist". These are facts, anyone can go look them up.
Yet in 2015 the Nigerian people elected that party to control the Federal Government. Everything that has happened since then is CONSEQUENCE, the Nigerian people are getting exactly what they deserve. What else did anyone expect?
Abeg make I hear word jare.
Good Luck to Nigerians. Nigerians think APC came from heaven or hell. They supported Tinubu and Buhari in 2012 and now they can see the result of their actions. |

Asonaijaaso: Provide new jobs before you choke the poor to death with Tariffs removal.
Create jobs with Livable wages ? We know you want to generate revenue like the kidnappers too are collecting ransom.
But, differentiate yourselves from kidnappers by equally creating jobs for the citizens. Getting to 1 year in office, Tinubu cannot boast of creating 1 million jobs in a country of 300 million people. Thats why we will continue to have increased social vices. The citizens need livable wages. Removed subsidy in forex, Removed subsidy in petrol, now you want to remove subsidy in energy tariffs !! Please do not remove subsidy on being alive in Nigeria. Provide jobs, even if the jobs are minimum wages. Political appointments do not count as job creations. Job creations should cut across parties, religions, tribes....we should see mass hiring.
Employment should supersede revenue generation. The government cannot create new jobs and should stop subsidizing poverty. (electricity). Nigeria needs investment in Genco, TCN, and Electricity distribution. |

aviara: Why is it that amongst all the available thriving sectors it's airline that is been suggested for a group of South west governors to invest in? Why don't they invest in crude oil refinery like Dangote? A refinery would employ more people than running an airline.
The sentiment behind this proposition is simply the hate some yorubas have each time they see an igbo owned business thriving. They are quick to create competition or come up with policies to kill igbo owned business. Ibom air has been operating for years, the sector wasn't attractive until an igbo man steps in to take it international then all of a sudden it has become attractive.
While I am not against healthy competition we shouldn't allow ethnic sentiment and 'bad belle' be our motivation for any investment decision. Air Peace needs competition, but it should not come from the government; it must be privately owned. Value Jet is owned by Ayo Ojuroye (CEO)[1] Kunle Soname (Chairman), and Green Africa Airways and Babawande Afolabi are both Yoruba-owned airlines that can be expanded to give Air Peace competition. |

Nigeria bought less than 20,000 cars last year South African bought 500,000 during the same period
20,000 is not good enough to sustain an industry
Worse still is the fact that over 80% of that less than 20,000 cars are used ( accidented cars no body wants)
All this Jamboree makes no sense.. The focus now should be to grow the GDP per capita of Nigeria to say $10k to $15k once we achieve that the rest is easy Nigeria bought 20,000 new cars last year. How many used cars did Nigeria import? How many stolen cars end up in Nigeria? The answer to the above questions will indicate the demand factors in Nigeria. There is a significant market for commercial vehicles in Nigeria. I will start by setting a strategy to outline the existing assembly plants across the country and then develop a supply chain that can support the assembly plants; this will include the provision of Steel, Polymers and Aluminium, tyres and Windscreen that account for 75% of the manufacturing of a car. Unfortunately, the current minister of Industry is clueless and cannot drive the revival of the automobile industry in Nigeria. In the 1970 -90s, Nigeria assembled 150,000 vehicles and all those vehicles were consumed by the Nigerian government establishment and local consumers. I have listed some of the following unused assembly plants in Nigeria. JAC Motors. 45,000 capacity VON (Stallion Motors) 25,000 Peugeot(Dangote) 45,000 Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company. -Capacity NORD Capacity 5000 GIC Motor Companies Ltd, ANAMMCO Leyland Busan Motors Ltd. https://www.bpp.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/LIST-OF-BONAFIDE-AUTO-ASSEMBLERS-OR-MANUFACTURERS-IN-NIGERIA.pdf |

The fact that a high-profile person could walk from a Mosque and easily board an airline without being apprehended is an embarrassment, and it is idiots like you who support the useless government that should be embarrassed. The Head of Strategic Communication at the Office of the National Security Adviser, Zakari Mijinyawa, could not confirm the incident when contacted on Sunday night. Anjarwalla, on Friday, reportedly escaped from the Abuja guest house where he and his colleague were being held, Premium Times reports.
He was said to have escaped after some guards on duty escorted him to a nearby mosque for prayers.
The British national, who also holds Kenyan citizenship, is suspected to have departed Abuja via a Middle East airline.
How Anjarwalla boarded an international flight despite his British passport, which he used to enter Nigeria, being held by Nigerian authorities remains unclear.
Premium Times reports that authorities are also working to unravel his intended destination to get him back into custody.
An Immigration official said the Binance executive fled Nigeria on a Kenyan passport.
The official disclosed that the authorities are working on unravelling how he obtained the passport, given the fact that he had no other travel document (apart from the British passport) on him when he was arrested.
According to another insider, the two officials were detained in a “pleasant guest house” and granted numerous privileges, such as access to telephones. Anjarwalla is suspected to have taken advantage of this opportunity to plan his escape.
Mijinyawa promised to enquire and revert.
However, he has yet to do so as of the time of filing this report. |

emkz: One area where Nigeria shows laxity is the profound lack of patriotism by citizens.
The accused allegedly collects government contracts he lacks the capacity to execute, colludes with government ministers and civil servants, takes the government to court or arbitration panels and gets the government to pay settlement for the government failing to honour the terms of the contracts.
This matter began as far back as 2002 when Olu Agunloye's memo for the Mambilla power project was stepped down and FRC instructed him to seek alternative means of funding. The stubborn minister went behind FEC to award the contract.
When in 2007, there was another advertisement for the project, the fraudulent company Agunloye awarded the contract to then sued Nigeria. Since then, the project has not made headway.
It emerged that the promoter of Sunrise bribed Malami, another minister of water resources and some civil servants in the ministry of justice to defraud Nigeria into a scandalous settlement which fPMB has come out to say he never authorized.
So why did the ministers approve the settlement?
It seems many people celebrate their being ministers because they see their positions as an avenue to award contracts. Since they collude with fellow Nigerians to defraud the nation, the solution is simple. The Nigerian justice system is too slow to deal with these people.
Other means need to be deployed to seize all their assets, render their families poor and ensure that they live the rest of their lives in regret. Frame them up for terrorism and lock them up until they die.
You cannot deal with corruption without corruption. It has not worked in Nigeria and it will not work.
