The failure to invest in electricity generation, transmission and distribution is the bane of Nigeria. Nigeria requires a minimum of 100.000 MW but can only generate 4000 MW

The company currently spends around N100 million on power generation monthly aside from maintenance costs and its monthly fixed spend on operations has risen over N500 million.

PoliticsRe: Minister Lokpobiri: Kaduna Refinery Can Not Refine Nigeria Crude Oil by sulaak(m): 12:44pm On May 30, 2024
Abagworo:
Most comments are based on ignorance. There are tyoes of crude oil and differ6types of products they can produce. Kaduna refinery when functional was producing base oil and LPFO better than Port Harcourt that was mainly light products. The plan was to have the capability of producing our entire petroleum product needs and since our Oil is light and sweet we needed heavy crude for the Kaduna refinery.
Well said, but locating the refinery in Kaduna was a logistical disaster. There is a reason why Singapore refineries and petrochemical plants are located on Jurong Island: Singapore’s Petrochemical Hub. https://www.hydrocarbons-technology.com/features/feature78188/

So the Kaduna refinery was calibrated to serve Venezuela?

No be today this scam start. End Nigeria!

Locating the refinery in Kaduna is already a red flag. No oil in Kaduna, no seaport in Kaduna. Gowon should explain why his regime did it.

Let us even accept the calibration for Venezuela's crude oil. Is the refinery functioning? The answer is no. But billions of Naira is spent on the refinery yearly and some people are being paid as workers in the refinery.
South Korea, India, and Singapore import all to be refined for export. Refineries, like steel and petrochemical plants, are process industries that are designed for industrializing raw materials. I will rather have refineries than crude oil.

APC vs APC.

Nobody has questioned the so-called Buhari over all the frauds his regime commited. This indicates that his tenures might have actually been completed by impostors, meaning that APC is the biggest scam so far in Nigeria.
Under Buhari, oil exports fell from 2.1 million barrels per day to 900,000 B/D. the. GMD of. NNPC is Mele Kyari and he is still. the Chairman of the NNPCL.

APC is what you call state capture = Buhari =. Tinubu=. failure

In the late 1980s, OBJ daughter was a student of UI studying vet medicine, and I took some classes with her. Only Olodo students did their first degree abroad; if you were smart enough, you would get into a Nigerian university and then travel to Europe or the USA for your postgraduate degree.

Ideally due to our population advantage, all these companies with large customer base in Nigeria should be mandated to site their manufacturing plants here, cutting out importation cost thereby reducing the overall selling price of their products in the market, and also easy the strain on the dollar.

...but na naija we dey now, where they make running an economy look like rocket science.
Nigeria customers are too broke to buy anything. Nigeria should prioritise export-driven industries such as petrochemicals, steel, Aluminium refined oil, LNG, agricultural products, and minerals that can generate $100 bn in exports.

PropertiesRe: Lagos Law Mandates Approval Before Any Building Must Be Renovated by sulaak(m): 3:42pm On May 19, 2024
Macphenson:
I am going to speak from a professional point of view as an Engineer and somebody that has been building in Lagos State for the past 15 years.

The Lagos State regulatory Laws for buildings are more of extortionary than regulatory, this is the reason why people keep finding ways to bypass the laws.

There is a reason why developers keep avoiding the buidling permits and other permits in Lagos not because they dont want to be compliant but because of the tedious process, the bureaucasis and the unnecessary protocols involved.

.
As someone who has been involved in numerous building projects across the UK, regulatory building laws are always bureaucratic, expensive, and stressful, but they are a necessary evil. I think the tile replacement is over the top. Still, depending on the work required, plumbing and renovation must always have local council approval and sign-off by an approved plumber, architect, or electrician.

Nigeria's problem is systematic; the Nigerians complain that they have no institution, but when the developed institutions, Nigerians are the first people who refuse to adhere to their regulations. I have a lot of Nigerian colleagues who have British passports but would rather live in Nigeria because of the lack of regulation and enforcement.

I have always said that Nigeria's problem is poor cultural development and political structure, it's impossible to create great leadership for a very poor culture.

Nigeria with a population of over 200 million people should naturally be a place where people beg to visit. Rather, some thinks it even senseless to mention the name.

Car TalkRe: Thousands Of Tesla Cars Rot In Warehouses Across US With No One To Buy Them by sulaak(m): 12:23pm On May 17, 2024
SIRTee15:
Its actually not Tesla's fault. BYD and other Chinese electric car manufacturers are really giving him a serious run for his money.
Those car companies in china are producing electric cars at a rate that outpace total global demand of electric cars. They plan to flood the world with cheap electric cars by making sure supply outstrip demand, and on the long term run others like Tesla out of the market.

Tesla also has to follow similar plan by producing far beyond the demand for his cars and hopefully reduce the price. Otherwise Tesla will become history like Nokia or Motorola.
The Chinese cars are cheaper and better than the overhype Tesla. Its is not always the first to market that wins the race. Elon Musk's arrogance has been his downfall; had he partnered with African states for access to cheap raw materials, maybe Telsa would have been more competitive.

Nigeria now importing crude oil from US wonder shall not end.
I would rather import raw materials like crude oil, process them into refined oil and other products, and sell them at a margin by doubling their value. This is What Singapore, India, and South Korea do. They industrialise oil and gas into finished products for sale at a higher margin.

BTW, USA refineries are very old and not designed for Shale oil, which is light crude oil. Nigeria is actually becoming industrialized with over 1.5 million tonne refinery capacity.
