Congratulations bro. I pray you stay on the new path you have found. |
Let the dude smoke his pot..(thank God that its not cigarettes, which contains all sorts of chemicals). Believe it or not, he might have been smoking before he met you. Now you want to take that away from him. Most Nigerians grew up with the mentality that only touts smoke weed and thats what makes them to react the way they do, but thats not true.. Not like he has reacted negatively to you in anyway. Do some research. P.S. But if you really want him to stop, just smoke with him. ![]() Check out this list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_politicians_who_admit_to_cannabis_use |

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday said for every issue he had to take a decision on, multiple suggestions that were most times contradictory, were made available to him. He said it was therefore important for Nigerians to continue to pray to God to give him wisdom to take the right decisions that would not bring suffering to the people. Jonathan spoke at the 2014 Christmas Carol organised by the Aso Villa Chapel at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. While saying that nobody placed oneself in a position of authority without the consent of God, he expressed the belief that God, who chose him, would see him through. The President said, “We pray that God should give those of us who are in charge the grace to do things with the fear of God. If we begin to do what is right in our own little way, this nation will survive. “God knows why we are here. Nobody will place himself in any position without God. So God that gives all of us the opportunity will see us through. “For me your servant today, I will continue to request for your prayers that God should give me the wisdom to do what is right in His sight. “Because it is quite challenging for a leader. For every subject that you want to take a decision, you will have multiple suggestions, some contradictory, some to the left, some to the right, some to the centre. But you must take a decision. “It is only God that can guide you to take the rightful decision that will not bring suffering to your people. “We will try our best and we will continue to do our best. We promise that any opportunity given to us, we will use it to serve mankind.” http://www.punchng.com/news/i-get-contradictory-advice-on-national-issues-says-jonathan/ |

A former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has accused a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Chief Olabode George, and the governorship candidate of the party in the state, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, of recruiting armed thugs to achieve their aims at the governorship primaries held on December 8. The former minister said “I also saw the police recovered five guns and rounds of ammunition and live cartridges from the thugs brought by Chief Olabode George and Mr. Jimi Agbaje, a co-aspirant.” This is contained in an affidavit which he filed before a Federal High Court in Abuja in support of his suit numbered, FHC/ABJ/CS/994/2014, challenging the conduct of the December 8, 2014 governorship primaries in which Agbaje was declared winner. Obanikoro with 343 votes came second behind Agbaje who polled 432 votes to clinch the party’s ticket. Three other candidates participated in the poll. But the former minster is, through his suit filed on December 15, 2014, urging the court to nullify the primaries and order a fresh one to be conducted on the grounds of alleged electoral irregularities that marred the December 8, 2014 exercise. On Wednesday, the presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, after Obanikoro’s counsel, Chief Chris Uche (SAN), moved an ex parte application, asked the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission to appear in court on December 23. He directed the two defendants in the suit to appear in court to show cause why he (the judge) should not make an order of interim injunction restraining them from presenting or accepting any name as the PDP governorship candidate in Lagos State pending the determination of the suit. The judge on Wednesday declined to grant the restraining order as sought by the plaintiff’s counsel through the ex parte application. Rather than grant the order, Justice Mohammed asked the plaintiff to put the defendants on notice for them to appear in court to show cause why the order should not be granted. The former minister alleged in his suit filed on December 18 that the election was marred by electoral irregularities such as over-voting, intimidation of his delegates by thugs loyal to George and Agbaje, as well as improper accreditation of delegates. He said there were 806 delegates accredited for the primaries but “surprisingly from the 806 accredited delegates; the electoral officers returned a total number of 866 votes.” He added that the accreditation of delegates which ought to last between 8am and 12noon as stipulated by the Electoral Guidelines published by the PDP, did not start until as late as 6.30pm. In an affidavit personally deposed by him, Obanikoro stated, “That the thugs earlier brought by Chief Olabode George and Mr. Jimi Agbaje, a co-aspirant, at this point began to disrupt the venue by throwing bottles, stones and firing gunshots in the direction of the delegates loyal to me and preventing other delegates loyal to me from entering the venue. “That the gunshots attracted another detachment of policemen, who engaged the thugs in a gun and teargas battle during which many of the delegates loyal to me ran for their dear lives to avoid being caught in the crossfire between the police and the armed thugs. “That I know as a fact that many of my delegates who ran for their dear lives in the ensuing violence and gun battle never returned and were consequently disenfranchised as it took the police several hours to restore some semblance of normalcy. “That I saw that the police recovered five guns and rounds of ammunitions and live cartridges from the thugs brought by Chief Olabode George and Mr. Jimi Agbaje , a co-aspirant.” Source: www.punchng.com/news/primaries-guns-recovered-from-agbaje-georges-thugs-obanikoro/ |

gnykelly: mathematics is general language just like English. you can't do without measurement in you work. or can you draw a human body and without their adequate proportion.I agree that Maths is a general (universal) language needed by everyone irrespective of your language or country but I do not agree that English is. It is only compulsory in some countries where it is spoken as official language. In most countries, it has substitute languages but Maths does not have any substitute. Mathematics is one and is used universally (the only universal language understood by all that know it). You can use it to communicate to a Chinese, Dutch, French or English people effectively without you understanding their languages. It is not same as English. |
safarigirl: lol...are you sure you speak good english? Do you get ALL the pronunciations correctly? Or do you just speak the Nigerian version of English and term it 'good English'?Man note that the only importance of English language is solely for effective communication which can be achieved using other languages. The only universally understood language which is compulsory irrespective of your language is Mathematics. Once you understand English well and can effectively communicate with it, you don't need more of it. Most people that have the best technologies in the world did not develop it with English but Maths. Their respective languages are enough for them. But Mathematics is compulsory for them. Come to think of it, is there any country where Mathematics is not compulsorily studied? But I tell you, there are many countries where English is not needed and is not studied in school and their technologies and economies are very good. To the lazy Nigerian student, embrace Mathematics so that we will all progress together in all aspects. |
iwakolewa: But I am of the opinion that maths should be a compulsory subject just like english, people need it without knowing they do,I was an art student,a brilliant one and I hated mathematics, and it's affected me a great deal,I hated all my maths teacher.....not knowing I might actually run into maths in the future again, and I did. I studied international relations, maths was part of the compulsory subjects listed for my admission requirements....thank God,I managed to get a pass, but even now at my age, when my younger ones used to bring their homework to me,statistics and co,I felt ashamed cos I couldn't help out. Please tell all these lazy Nairalanders who are saying that Maths is not relevant. Just imagine that someone who used to think like you (that Maths is useless) went and studied International relations (a pure arts course) in the University. Only to discover that she desperately need Mathematics for her to apply the course she had passed in the university, and went as far as contracting a Mathematics tutor when she had started working. This should sound as a warning to you lazy ones to change your way of thinking and work hard now to save yourself some embarrassment in future. Mathematics is still the king of all subjects! Just mention where it is not required and I will prove you wrong. |
I don't know why I had to come here. I have discovered that most of the NLs saying that Mathematics is not important to Arts students are those who have not passed their O'level exams. They don't even know their rights from their lefts. They really need proper orientation to get them thinking properly. Maths is critically important to everyone whether a student or not, an arts student or not. To me, if you are still thinking that you do not need Maths, then you need to go back to nursery school and start your reorientation from the scratch. |
