Nigerian musician Portable has warned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to desist from targeting innocent youths over their source of wealth.

The musician, known for his outspokenness, during an interview on Assorted Podcast encourages the agency to stop trying to intimidate and apprehend innocent youths and residents under the pretense of fighting cybercrime.

Portable highlighted the misunderstandings about the youth population, particularly their engagement in fraudulent activities such as internet fraud, often known as Yahoo Yahoo in Nigeria.

The artist stressed that not all young people interested in profitable companies were involved in cybercrime, cautioning against making the broad assumption that every successful youth is a Yahoo kid.


According to the artist, many young people are honestly hustling and working to make ends meet through authorized ways.

Portable expressed his dissatisfaction with law enforcement agencies’ indiscriminate targeting of young Nigerians, urging the EFCC to use caution and discernment in its activities, rather than indiscriminately portraying every young person as a criminal.

Labour Party crisis deepens as national treasurer bags six-month suspension for accusing Abure of N3.5bn embezzlement

The spokesman told journalists that the decision to sanction her was taken after she failed to honour an invitation by the party’s NWC to resolve the conflict.

He said, “After the 2023 general election, Labour Party was marked for total annihilation by the system for daring to upstage the status quo of the political class. The House of Representatives has called on the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to suspend the policy of National Identification Number (NIN) as requirement for intending candidates. This came following a motion presented by Zainab Gimba (APC, Borno) who called on JAMB to review the policy on the use of NIN for prospective applicants until 2021.

Leading the debate, Gimba said it was necessary for JAMB to review the timeline pending the establishment of more enrolment centres by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) across the country.

According to her, an official of NIMC had recently disclosed that, less than 20 percent of Nigerians are captured in their database. She further expressed concern that, although Nigerians turned out to be captured by NIMC, “most have been hindered by infrastructural challenges like poor network, power failure, no power supply and sometimes inadequate manpower or equipment to attend to them”. She suggested that, JAMB should collaborate more with NIMC, states and local governments for an efficient registration of its prospective candidates.

Super Eagles Head Coach, Gernot Rohr, ahead of his side’s must win African Cup of Nations 2021 qualifier against Benin has stated that his coaching decisions cannot be influenced by Nigerian Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick or NFF officials and he will only pick players on Merit.
Amaju Pinnick disclosed during an interview with Channels TV on Monday that the NFF is willing to offer Rohr a new deal when his contract expires in 2020 but a clause stating that Rohr must be involved in the Nigerian League and picking players from the league, will be inserted.

Only Enyimba defender Ifeanyi Anaemena from the Nigerian league made Rohr’s 23-man squad after replacing Bryan Idowu for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches, but Rohr has stated that he will only select players based on merit, not because of a clause in his contract or the wishes of the NFF.

Rohr said to reporters ahead of the Benin game on Wednesday, “I know he (Pinnick) sometimes has a different opinion like me but then, it is football. I never accept it to make a choice coming from the officials; my choice is the choice of sports arguments only, to take the best players.



“Unfortunately, we could not take more players from the local league because they did not play, so it was difficult for them to be fit.

“I know that some people cannot be happy about my choice but I can tell you it is my choice, it is always honest.”

“I have to work, the contract is not a problem. I think by the end of the year, I will discuss with the NFF. No distraction for me, but it’s time for us to have a new project to win the next AFCON, we need to be at the next World Cup as well.”

Bobrisky reacts to the arrest of Nigerian-Dubai based Mompha , who was arrested by the EFCC last week in Abuja.

Recall the anti-graft agency said in its statement that the Dubai-based Nigerian man was arrested over his alleged involvement in cyber fraud and money laundering.

Reacting to news of his arrest, Bobrisky expressed hope of Mompha surviving his current challenge which he described as a ‘tough time’.

The Special Adviser to the President on Social Investments, Mrs Maryam Uwais on Monday disclosed that $76,538,530 has so far been disbursed from the Abacha loot from the August/September 2018 to the September/October payment cycle. .
