Good morning everyone.

I thought Nairaland would be the best place to ask this since there are many notable car dealers, and car owners here.

I'm looking to get my first car before the end of the year. But I honestly don't know much about cars except that a V6 engine gulps fuel, and that many Nigerians love Toyota. These are my considerations.

1. Budget 2m to 3m.

2. Something girly and portable.

3. Low cost of maintenance. If I had my way, I would buy brand new so I would almost never have to visit the mechanic save for routine maintenance.

- Low fuel consumption
-Availability of spare parts.
- Not prone to breakdown

4. Optimal functioning AC

5. It should be in perfect condition for at least 2 years. When I marry, my husband will buy the next one. But right now, it doesn't have to be fancy. Since I'm not a pro-driver like that like that, Lagos road users may bash and scratch it. I don't want to go home and cry that they're scratching an expensive car.

6. And what's the aversion with Nigerian used cars? People seem not to like buying Nigerian used cars? Can 1.5m get me a good Nigerian used car that meet the aforementioned criteria?

7. Finally, what about cars assembled in Nigeria? Like Innoson? Kia Rio.

Please, im pleading on behalf of Johnchrix, I dont know if his stories are true or not, but let's just free the man abeg. Depression is real and shiuld his stories be real, all the dragging and trolling might take severe tolls on him mentally, emotionally, physically or any form.

Sorry for your experience...it can be painful but u don't need to curse him. That's just the result u will get by giving a complete novice ur car. Some people also carry a bad omen. I have had a similar experience but I collected my car back on d 3rd day. When I saw the first and second signs I didn't wait to be bitten a third time. It's part of the business.

Not saying newbies should not be given opportunity, different strokes for different folks, perhaps I didn't do my due diligence well, a guy later said the same guy approached him for his Toyota Sienna for transport business from Lagos - Abuja but changed his mind at the last minute, only knows how to move a car from point A to B but not how drive. Matt1King1 karma will locate you anywhere you are, that's my prayer.

Met the young man on this forum and I felt there was nothing wrong if I give him the opportunity, there is always a first time of everything,he drove my car for just two weeks I could almost not recognize the car,it was one story after the other, the last straw was when he bashed the front bumper and wanted to prove that the car in front was at fault, I insisted he take my car to my panel beater, he pleaded that I should allow him take it to his Dad's panel beater somewhere in Ipaja, he couldn't fix the car that day and on his way back he told me he was arrested by LASTMA officer for not wearing his seat belt, imagine and at the end he was fined 20k my brother even though I collected #30k frm him before I gave him the car,I ended up spending more than that on the car withing those two weeks, had no option than to collect my car.Never seen where a partner will use his mother and sister as a guarantor, we were still on this when all these started happening.I have since learnt my lesson

it's still doing me like film trick.. I felt the usuals na, fuel to bring the kind car, tire and all sorts..he even said I would remove it from the amount of the car once he and the car arrives.mtchew..so painful.

It's just to lure their victim, met one on the same site too, told him point blank if you are not ready to bring the car down, am not releasing a dime, he pleaded that I send money for fuel, no way if you are ready to sell fuel your car, you bought a car but can't fuel it.

I needed to withdraw 35k this morning in order to attend to some urgent cash needs and since I didn't want only N1000 notes I decided to enter the banking hall. To avoid issues I arrived before 8 am and was one of the first to be attended to. The cashier paid me with N20k bundle and counted 15k with the counting machine twice and gave me my bundle. I didnt bother to do another count as I saw her use the machine twice. Only for me to get back home and realise I had an extra N32k. I counted and recounted but it was an excess.

Truth be told times could be much better Covid and Buhari did not help matters but as a Christian I know not to keep what is not mine. God knows it could have solved a lot of problems but its best to wait for what is mine so i had to go back to the bank and wait to see the Teller. Looking at her interact with her colleagues one could tell she was not happy.
When it was my turn she asked what kind of transaction I wanted and I just handed her the N32k. The relief and joy on her face could not be hid. She had already told her colleague beside her that she was short so they both joined in telling me thank you.
As usual some may say I was foolish for returning the money but either a young lady could have lost her job in these terrible times or at least the money would be removed from her salary which is still bad enough.
My only prayer is God should consider this and remember me for good

I have seen 240k and it was just three months used in Nigeria. The car was running very good.

I suspect these yellow danfo buses would have up to 600/700k if their Odos were still functional. From my experience, I have never seen a car other than Toyota get to 500k miles in Nigeria sha
