Santino1: we were pondering about the possible cause of the surge and he (sun of god) proposed that, it is due to tilting of the earth (an event referred to in geologic term as Milankovitch cycle). I disagreed by citing Paleomagnetics and varves in lakes (both are used in dating geologic events) to show that sine the last tilting occured aroung c.a. 9000 BC, the next predicted "full-scale" tilting will happen in c.a. 12000 years.

I hope that was simple enough?
So your disputimg what people who live on the poles are witnessing? (the vids)

Christianity Etc › Re: Christians, honestly, Do You Think Yahweh And The God Of Jesus Might Be Different by Sunofgod(m): 10:00pm On Aug 19, 2012
I normally dont comment in the religion section but i'll make the exception here.

If you open the bible to the book of genesis the first chapter talks constantly about 'God' and his work.

From chapter 2 you'll notice that it switches to the 'Lord God' - These 2 entities are not the same!

God created man (chapter 1) and the 'lord God' formed Adam (chapter 2).

The 'Lord God' formed 'Adam' and gave him commandments. One of them was not to eat from the tree of knowledge or he would shorely die. The entity refered to as the 'Serpent' told Eve that the 'Lord God' was lying and that if she ate of the tree her eyes would be open and she would become wise with knowledge and know the difference between good and evil.

When Eve ate of the tree what happened? Did she die or were her eyes open?

The 'Serpent' was telling the truth and the 'Lord God' was exposed as a liar! (Note: The Serpent is not the Devil - or it would have been called the devil). The serpent was then cursed by 'the lord' for exposing his lies and the lord god banished adam and eve from the garden to prevent them from accessing the tree of life which would have enabled them to become immortals.

The 'lord god' is the God of the hebrews - Jesus made the comment that they were of their father the devil who was a liar from the begining - Seems he knew the 'Lord God' of the old testament was actually the devil.

Anyway, Jesus was executed for calling himself the 'Son of the Living God' and not the son of the 'Lord God' aka the god of the hebrews/Isralites.

Tony Spike: Actually, there is little one can do against natural occurences such as ocean surges. However, understanding the relationship(s) between lunar cycle, earth-moon gravitation and oceanic cyclical effects can provide us great information on where and when the next disaster might occur. This is my point.
The 'Poles' are shifting and the 'tilt' of the earth on its axis is changing.

This is well known - some say we can expect the poles of the earth to 'flip' anytime now.

There are many underwater cities that once thrived but are now buried under the sea - its inevitable the same fate awaits lagos (and many other coastal regions).
Family › Re: Should I End My Marriage by Sunofgod(m): 4:07pm On Aug 19, 2012
8ogoegbunam: I got married early this year. My wife is a sweet lady, loving and caring lady. The only major problem we face in our young union is religoius issues. I was brought up in the anglican faith while she grew up a catholic. She promised me that she will attend attend the same church with me once we got married, her only condition is that I should wed her in the catholic church. Amidst great opposition from my parents who were against it initially on the basis of religion, I fullfilled my promise to her by holding our wedding in the catholic church.

After our wedding she bluntly refused to attend the anglican church. She even asked me to convert to catholic. Honestly, I am disappointed with her. We have quarreled over this issue several times. As a compromise, I told her to attend my church once a month; that she should continue attending her church. She bluntly refused ,her only condition for agreeing to my idea is that I should attend the catholic church with her sometimes.

I feel I have been conned into marriage.

She is 36 years , we are yet to have any children . Should I divorce her. I am worried about the faith of my future children.she hinted that our children whenever we have one most toe her own line in religious matters.

I stumbled upon a good evidence that one of her ex lovers is a reverend father. She is vey close to this priest who constantly bombard her with phone calls even at odd hours in the night.

I have no evidence that the affair is still on. Please I need sincere advice.
Not even a year into marriage and your being played like this?

The bottom line is your wife is deceptive.

She's clearly decieved you and who knows what else she's playing you at.
From what you've stated she also seems stubborn and has an agenda.

So you have only two options:

!) Begin divorce proceedings or get the marriage annuled.

2) Get used to a married life of misery and torment. (Maybe lasting 40/50 years)

Nairaland General › Re: How Did Spammers Get Our E-Mail Addresses? by Sunofgod(m): 6:32pm On Aug 15, 2012
Seun: Valued Nairalanders,

Regarding the e-mail message that Nairaland did not send, people have been asking how the spammers got their email addresses.

Some people believe that the moderators supplied it, even though I've repeatedly re-assured them that we do not have any facility that exposes member emails to moderators. The only two ways a Nairalander can get your email are: (1) If you send them an email message through the forum. (2) If they send you an email message and you reply them.

Yet dozens or possibly hundreds of Nairalanders have been spammed. How did the spammers get all those e-mail addresses?

Well I've been getting bounce messages all day from people who got the spam message, so I tried searching the forum for their email addresses. I discovered that they all posted their email addresses publicly on the forum. Every single email I checked could be found on a public thread.

So all the spammers had to do was run a type of bot known as an email extractor on the forum. With the email extractor they downloaded hundreds of public pages on Nairaland, and extracted all the e-mail addresses posted publicly on those pages. Then they spammed the addresses they collected.

I don't think there's much we could have done to prevent this. If you post your email address on any public page/blog/forum on the Internet, you will be spammed.

So what can you do to protect yourself? The options are: (1) To never post your email address publicly, which is difficult if you're a public person or business person looking for customers. (2) To use an e-mail provider with very good spam management facilities - for example gmail - for email addresses you intend to post publicly on the Internet. In any case, you should cheerfully click the "mark as spam" button whenever you find a spam mail in your inbox. That's what it's meant for!

I hope you are satisfied by this explanation. Feel free to ask me any other questions you have related to this topic.

Have a great day!
Nice 'theory' . . .

Here's some of mine:

1) The email addresses were supplied by either Seun or a Mod for a fee?

2) A 'mod' has figured out seuns login (probably something like seun123 or seun419) and had captured the info?

3) GEJ ordered a 'cyber' campaign to start discrediting nairaland?

4) Seun whilst 'sleepwalking' sent the message but upon awakening has forgoten what he did whilst asleep?

5) Israel/Mossad sent an 'internet worm' to nairaland in error?
Politics › Delta State Applies For U.S.$15 Million Ibori Bribe Money by Sunofgod(op): 8:26pm On Aug 14, 2012
The Delta State Government has formally asked the Federal Government to release to it the $15 million (about N2.4 billion) allegedly given by the former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori, to a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu.

The state's Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Charles Ajuyah (SAN), yesterday asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to order that the alleged bribe money be paid to the government and people of Delta State.

Only recently, the court ordered that the money be temporarily forfeited to the Federal Government and would be finally forfeited if within 14 days after the publication of an advertorial pertaining to the interim order, no one came forward to claim ownership of the money.

Ajuyah also asked the court to declare that the $15 million alleged bribe which has been in the custody of the third respondent, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), since April, 2007 is the property of the government of Delta State and its people.

He further prayed the court to hold that any application or order granting the money to any other entity other than the government and people of Delta State would be improper. He asked the court to order the CBN to hand over the money to Delta State.

In an affidavit attached to the application, the state said that the money which was alleged to have been sent to EFCC by Ibori to compromise its investigation is not different from that of Plateau and Bayelsa States where such monies recovered from their former governors, Chief Joshua Dariye and Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, were returned to their respective states.

The Delta State attorney general also told the court that neither Dariye nor Alamieyeseigha was subjected to another trial (aside from the criminal charges brought against them by the EFCC) before the recovered sums were returned to their respective states.

He prayed the court to order CBN to return the said sum to the coffers of the Delta State government since the money lawfully belonged to the government and people of Delta State.

Ajuyah also noted that the charge filed against Ibori at the trial court in Delta State was quashed on December 17, 2009.

Besides, he stated that there was no reason not to return the money to Delta State, adding that the Appeal Court was yet to determine the appeal filed against Ibori in respect of the criminal charge that was quashed.

He also prayed the court to order the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), the EFCC and the CBN to return the money to the government and people of Delta State.

He also asked for a declaration that the $15 million alleged bribe became the property of the government and people of Delta State when Ibori was convicted and sentenced to prison in the United Kingdom.

He said that the Delta people would be prejudiced if the money is taken by the Federal Government.

He said that if the court awarded the money to the Federal Government, it would be paid to the Federation Account and would be shared by the 36 states of the federation.

A lawyer, Timipa Okponipere, had earlier filed an application asking that the $15 million be paid to the government and people of Delta State.

Okponipere said that he had filed the application "for and on behalf of the government and people of Delta State".

It is not clear if he was briefed by the Delta State government, neither could it be ascertained how he came about the mandate to file the suit on behalf of the people of Delta State.

In an affidavit that he personally deposed to, he said: "In filing this application, I am acting in the public interest.

"I believe as a lawyer, no section of Nigeria should be denied their fundamental rights."

He prayed the court to declare that as of April 25, 2007 when Ibori allegedly offered the bribe of $15 million to the EFCC, he was still the governor of Delta State with all the rights and privileges attached to the office.

He also asked the court to declare that, "the $15 million alleged bribe money which has been in the custody of the third respondent (Central Bank of Nigeria) since April, 2007 is the property belonging to government of Delta State and its people."

He urged the court to hold that any application or order granting the money to any other entity other than the government and people of Delta State as illegal and of no effect.

He asked the court to order the AGF, the EFCC and the CBN to return the money to the government and people of Delta State.

Crime › Husband Of Two Wives 'Alabi Bakare' Bags Five Years Jail For R.aping 3 Minors by Sunofgod(op): 8:01pm On Aug 13, 2012
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday sentenced a 45-year-old commercial motorcyclist and husband of two wives, Alabi Bakare, to five years imprisonment for raping three minors.

Magistrate A.O. Isaac, who handed the verdict, said the sentence would be without an option of fine, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

He said since the accused had pleaded guilty to the offence, the court had no option than to sentence him as charged.

NAN reports that the accused, who was arraigned on August 8, had pleaded guilty to a charge of having carnal knowledge of the minors aged between three and five.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Barth Nwaokoye, told the court that Bakare, said the motorcyclist, who resided in Mowe, Ogun State, raped the minors on August 3, 2012 at 7p.m at 19, Oluwakemi St., Alapere, Ketu area of Lagos metropolis.

“Bakare was caught in the act by a co-tenant, who reported the matter to the police,” he said.

He said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria, Aug 13 (Reuters) - The Nigerian Islamist
sect Boko Haram denied on Monday that 20 of its fighters had
been killed in a raid by security forces in the northeastern
city of Maiduguri the day before, saying all those killed were
civilians.

A security officer said a mixed military and police force,
tipped off about a Boko Haram meeting on Sunday, had been fired
on when they approached the site and killed 20 "terrorists" for
the loss of one soldier in the ensuing shootout.

The Islamist group, modelled on the Taliban, is fighting to
create an Islamic state in Nigeria, whose 160 million people are
split evenly between Christians and Muslims.
Boko Haram spokesman Abu Qaqa told a teleconference for
journalists in Maiduguri, capital of Borno state and the sect's
heartland, that his fighters had not been meeting at the place
where the military said it killed them.

"They only succeeded in killing civilians," Qaqa said.
