Sun of god: Militancy is the only language this government understands . . . .

Let them return because this 'GEJ' government is out of control and needs a reality check.

Now is the best time to be a militant in Nigeria - because we have a weaker than weak leader.

Let them return yesterday - arms and explosives are readily available.
Let them return to the creeks and start disrupting oil production.

If they can blow up pipelines, kidnap foreign workers, and cause havoc for this government.

Let them half oil output - as it will half revenues going to this crooked administration.

When we have a government that's for the people then they can stop.

Foreign Affairs › Hillary Clinton Warns African Leaders About Co-operating With China. by Sunofgod(op): 7:36pm On Aug 03, 2012
Chinese state media has lashed out at US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton after she warned African leaders about co-operation with countries who want to exploit the continent’s resources.

On a tour of sub-Saharan Africa to promote political stability, Ms Clinton said this week that the US will stand up for democracy and universal human rights “even when it might be easier or more profitable to look the other way, to keep the resources flowing”.

“Not every partner makes that choice, but we do and we will,” she said, without naming China, in a speech delivered in Senegal.

The “implication that China has been extracting Africa’s wealth for itself is utterly wide of the truth,” said an English-language commentary from Xinhua on Friday, of Ms Clinton’s comment that the US is committed to a model that “adds value rather than extracts it”.

Ms Clinton’s words offer “cheap shots” and are part of “a plot to sow discord between China [and] Africa” for the US’s “selfish gain”, Xinhua said, adding her trip was part of a hidden agenda “aimed at least partly at discrediting China’s engagement with the continent and curbing China’s influence there”.

Ms Clinton’s 11-day trip to Africa comes as China continues to gain influence in markets across the continent, home to vast resource wealth and some of the world’s fastest-growing countries.

While US President Barack Obama unveiled a new Africa strategy in June, focusing on democracy, economic growth, security and development, last month China promised Africa $20bn in loans in the next three years. China, which put Africa-China trade at $166bn last year, overtook the US as Africa’s largest partner three years ago.

“There is a general sense that China appears to be eclipsing America in Africa,” said Comfort Ero, Africa programme director at International Crisis Group. “This is her [Clinton] second big pitch to try to sell the differences between the US and China in a positive way, suggesting the US has Africa’s interests at heart and is genuinely concerned with progress around democracy, and that China is only interested in grabbing resources,” said Ms Ero, referring to a visit by Ms Clinton to Africa last year.

Ms Clinton, whose trip takes in Senegal, Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa and Ghana, was accompanied by a large US business delegation, and stressed Africa’s economic potential. “We believe that if you want to make a good investment in the midst of what is still a very difficult global economy, go to Africa,” she said during the same speech.

She voiced fears the continent was “backsliding” on democracy.

At the same time her close relationship with Yoweri Museveni, the Ugandan President, whose army makes up the bulk of a heavily US-funded African Union force that fights Islamist militants in Somalia but who has refused to step down, has attracted criticism.

The US focus on governance is “inconsistent and shifts with its interests”, said Daniel Kalinaki, managing editor of Uganda’s Daily Monitor newspaper. After 2010 bombings in Uganda carried out by al-Qaeda-linked, Somalia-based militants, “all the talk of democracy was suddenly replaced by talk about regional security and Somalia”. Ms Clinton met with Mr Museveni and South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Friday, stressing the need for strong institutions and to follow the constitution. She is due to meet Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki on Saturday before travelling on to Malawi and then South Africa

Politics › Abductors Of Anambra Monarch Demand U.S.$100 Million Ransom by Sunofgod(op): 7:17pm On Aug 03, 2012
The abductors of Igwe Chukwudilim Eze, the traditional ruler of Ukpo Community in Dunukofia local government area of Anambra, are demanding a ransom 100 million dollars for his release.

A source close to the monarch's family said in Ukpo yesterday that the kidnappers also insisted that the ransom be paid in dollars.

"They called a cousin to the Igwe (traditional ruler) and insisted that they should be paid in dollars and they are demanding that they should be paid 100 million dollars". According to the source.

Eze was abducted on July 30 at his palace at about 11.20 a.m. after returning from church service at St. Mary Anglican Church.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Raphael Uzoigwe, said preliminary investigation by the police revealed that four gunmen carried out the attack but that no life was lost.

In his reaction to the demand of the abductors, Uzoigwe said it was not in the character of the police to negotiate with kidnappers.

"We do not have knowledge of such ransom being demanded by the abductors; it is not our duty to negotiate with kidnappers. Ours is to arrest them and I can assure you that we are working toward arresting them," Uzoigwe, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said.

Eze, a first class traditional ruler, was the fourth traditional ruler to be kidnapped in the state in the past two years.

In his reaction to the kidnapping of traditional rulers, the traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, Chijioke Nwankwo, urged the government to take proactive measures to save the traditional institution in the state from embarrassment and ridicule.

"We have become an endangered species in this respect," he said, adding that kidnappers should be made to face the full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.

Business › Re: Online Sellers Refuse Shipping To Nigeria (Pic) by Sunofgod(m): 7:03pm On Aug 01, 2012
BizBooks: Nigeria is yet to shake off her bad reputation when it comes to fraud in commerce. Many
sellers on Ebay, Craiglist, Amazon and other online sites go out of their way to make it
clear that they do not ship to Nigeria. Even when you tell them you reside in the US and
will pay with a credit card bearing your name, they still say no.

It is likely that many of these sellers have not lost money to a Nigerian but are only
reacting to stories they have heard about Nigeria. The irony is that shipping items to
Nigeria is now as safe as it has ever been. In the past few years, I have shipped several
packages to Nigeria through the Post Office and none of them was lost. The only issue is
that the Nigerian Post Office sometimes tries to extort as much money as possible from the
recipients before the packages are handed over to them.

Contrast that with Italy where I have lost several packages over the years. In fact an
Italian once told me they have one of the worst postal services in Europe. But still you
never hear anybody say "I will not ship to Italy". I don't know what it will take for them
to understand that the Nigeria they hear in the news is different from Nigeria in actual
fact. As a result of this blacklist, Nigerians are loosing out on the best electronic
commerce has to offer.

Have you ever ordered a product online and have it delivered in Nigeria?
Were you made to pay by the Post Office before collecting the item?
Will you ship to 'Peckham'?
