Excellent news!!!!!! Less money for our rogue politicians. I even hope crude oil becomes free - ![]() We will then have a shortage of people who want to become ploiticians in Nigeria - Which can only be a good thing. |
You may want to be ruled by a dictator but a majority of Nigerians do not share the same view. What tribe/religous sect would accept being ruled indefinetely by a dicatator who they dont consider one of their own? Would the Hausa's accept your proposals? Would an Igbo man even contemplate your proposals yet alone accept them? I think not, (+ Fashola is a below average politician) And if I remember well from my childhood - Action man (Fashola) was a toy who's actions were determined by his controller (Tinubu) |
Blackteeth:Bros, Your suggestion is too ridiculous. You would have sounded more sane if you suggested 'Patience' runs for president in 2015 under ACN with Buhari as her running mate. |
Its never wise to smoke crack and drink cheap homemade alcohol at the same time. Op - Please go and sleep it off rather than display to all the side effects. (What a ridiculous question to ask) |

Ahhh. . . . . . a tribalist thread. Here's my contribution: Phuck Seanet (tribalistic mudafucka) |
Where there is a 'will' there is hope. A majority of us grew up in Nigeria in times not that much better than now. Still giving up was never an option. Nobody knows what tomorrow holds. The youngsters are our future and i have more faith in them than the current older generation. |
Integrity, |
werepeLeri:Jail for what? Find me the law you have broken - and also where you signed to say you would abide by the law. Tinubu/Fashola have been scamming the masses - because they know they are ignorant. |
A pistol . . . . .and this is news!!! |
Hahaha . . . . .seems some people are waking up. Every tax collected so far has been illegal - Tinubu and the Lagos govt have no legal right to collect taxes from you. What makes it worse is that a bush man like Tinubu is directly taxing the people of Lagos (Morons) Is it in the constitution that you must pay taxes? |
Typical dumb ar.ss GEJ - A 'Puppets' 'Puppet'. . . . . Bill Gates is here to kill you people and your offspring in the name of populaion control. Think OBJ was charged with something similar during his tenure (birth control) These people are going for outright sterilization of Africans. The HIV virus wasn't effective enough in killing us off. Nothing to celebrate - it should actually be a day of mourning. A forced, loveless marriage . . . . . . . |
Nigerians should start panicking now - because payback will fall on the heads of citizens. Future state allocations will be ccompletely consumed by debt repayments. And then those in power at the time wil have to borrow more to service the debts incurred by these rogues in power right now. A whole oil producing nation like Nigeria now cannot get by without borrowing - It makes me want to do a 'Buhari' and breakdown in tears. N502bn And rising . . . . . . https://www.igbofocus.com/assets/images/Buhari_weeping.gif |
Ramires aint the kost skillful but he reminds me of Steve Mcmanaman - He will run for ever without slowing down. He covers a lot of ground and is now starting to score goals. |
AVB needs to go 4-4-2. Remove Lamps or Mikel and bring on Drogba or Anelka. The wing backs (Left/Right back) need to start pushing on and linking up with the wingers to supply crosses to the strikers. Thats how this game can be won - or its looking like a 0-0 draw. |
Mikel + Lampard + Ramires = Lack of creativity. |
'In an interview on BBC News this morning that left the hosts gob-smacked (google it, it is the BBC after all), Alessio Rastani outlines in a mere three-and-a-half-minutes what we all know and most ignore. While the whole interview is worth watching, the money shot for us was "This economic crisis is like a cancer, if you just wait and wait hoping it is going to go away, just like a cancer it is going to grow and it will be too late!".' Recent plans by the Federal Government to completely withdraw petroleum products subsidies has attracted serious discourse as regards the socio-economic implications the move would have on Nigerians. However, Nigerians say that certain conditions must be met before executing the plan; writes Alexander Chiejina Fuel SubsRecent plans by the Federal Government to completely withdraw petroleum products subsidies has attracted serious discourse as regards the socio-economic implications the move would have on Nigerians. However, Nigerians say that certain conditions must be met before executing the plan; writes Alexander Chiejina. In Nigeria today, the most contentious issue is the removal of subsidy on petroleum products which has generated wide debate by citizens from all walks of life, including the civil society groups, particularly the Nigerian Labour Congress, owing to its implications on the nation’s socio-economic landscape. Over the years, the Federal Government has operated a fuel subsidy with the purpose of making petroleum products available and cushion the effect of the true market prices of the products on the populace. According to reports by the Petroleum Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), the country consumes an average of 35 million litres of fuel daily. As of August 15, 2011, the pricing template of the PPPRA showed that the landing cost of a litre of petrol is N129.21. It showed the margin for transporters and marketers as N15.49, bringing the expected pump price of petrol to N144.70. But the official pump price for petrol is N65 per litre, a difference of N79.70, which the government subsidises. While it is believed that the Federal Government spent over N2trillions on fuel subsidy in the past five years, it also pays heavily to subsidise kerosene which is imported into the country through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), although the actual amount is not known. Following the disclosure during the unveiling of the nation’s economic blueprint by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, coordinating minister for the economy and minister of Finance, that the Federal Government had concluded plans to completely withdraw petroleum products subsidies, this announcement has been greeted with varied reactions even as there is no fixed date for its implementation. As analysts believe that government would have spent the money budgeted for fuel subsidy on addressing the country’s huge infrastructural deficit, thereby saving the nation of huge financial waste, some schools of thought have opposed the removal of the subsidy as the people will be at the receiving end of the petroleum subsidy, many of whom live below the poverty line of $1 a day. Support for fuel subsidy Fielding questions from journalists after the Monetary Policy Committee meeting in Abuja last week, Lamido Sanusi, governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, disclosed that the apex bank had been in the fore front of advocating that government removes the subsidy. Sanusi stated that the position of the apex financial regulatory authority stemmed from what the country stood to gain if the subsidy were removed. According to him, “We at CBN have always insisted that government should do away with the oil subsidy, because it is not good for the economy. It may be harsh at the beginning but in the long run, it would be beneficial for the country and it will help the economy.” The CBN governor noted that it was unwise for the government to be subsidising petroleum products to keep refineries in other countries going, while the ones in the country would not be producing at its full capacity thereby running the nation’s economy down. He however, refused to state when government would eventually remove the subsidy. “When it is going to be removed is not for CBN to say, it is rather for those in the authority to do so, but it is unavoidably going to be removed,” he said. Lending her view during the opening of the 35th edition of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE) in Abuja, Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, disclosed that the subsidy regime has effectively limited the government’s developmental capacities owing to its continued exhaustion of the nation’s resource base. “Significant national income has been expended so far on price regulation of refined products in the domestic market. This significant drain in the national resources has limited government’s ability to provide a sustainable basis for private sector downstream investment and development,” Alison-Madueke revealed. In his opinion, George-Hill Anthony, national chairman, Coalition for Accountability and Transparency in Extractive Industries, Forestry and Fisheries in Nigeria (CATEIFFN), stated that a credible committee must first be set up to monitor the funds that would be freed from fuel subsidy. While noting that the Federal Government currently pays about N2.6 billion daily as subsidies on the estimated 32 million litres consumed nationwide, Anthony noted that members of the committee should be drawn from the media, civil society groups as well as labour unions for effective monitoring of the use of the funds, which he insisted should be channeled to interventions for the common Nigerian. Anthony, however, stressed that government could only withdraw fuel subsidy if it has shown more disposition to fighting corruption. “If the instrument for fighting corruption is weak, where will the money go to, who will monitor it? The first thing government should do is to ensure a strong anti-corruption policy. The funds should be monitored by a committee made up of civil society groups, media and labour unions, it should not be left in the hands of the government alone,” Anthony maintained. Echoing the sentiments of Anthony, Olufemi Olawore, executive secretary, Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), harped on the need to set up a committee that would monitor what the gains from subsidy would be used for. “There must be a committee to monitor what the gains from subsidy would be used for, the committee should be made up of the media, civil society groups, labour unions and even some selected members of political parties to monitor government and put them on their toes,” Olawore said. He advised that government should ensure a logical conclusion of the power sector reform which will usher in steady electricity supply, noting that this would go a long way in cushioning the effect of the withdrawal of fuel subsidy on Nigerians. “Government should ensure it gets the power sector reform to a logical conclusion so that the price of diesel will drop. When there is stable electricity supply, the consumption of diesel will drop, and when the consumption drops the cost will also drop. This will result in lower cost of transportation for vehicles using diesel. The government should also ensure adequate infrastructure such as good roads and railway services to further cushion the effect of the withdrawal of fuel subsidy,” Olawore concluded. Against fuel subsidy Meanwhile, Ifeanyi Ogbuefi, a banker in one of the new generation banks, said that anything that will negatively affect the common man is not good for the country giving the fact that the rate of poverty will increase should the fuel subsidy be withdrawn by the Federal Government. “It is not fair! Why won’t the government do a survey on issues before taking a decision? The consumers will definitely suffer the removal of fuel subsidy. This is a major oversight. In a country like Nigeria, where more than half of the population live on less than $1 per day, it is important to evaluate policies that may raise poverty levels. “Moreover, it is critical to evaluate such effects before implementing the policies so that complementary reforms, where necessary, can be put into place to address the burden on the poor,” Ogbuefi noted. For Chidi Nwankwo, a human resource analyst, the removal of fuel subsidy would limit the country’s ability to attain the first Millennium Development Goal, which is reducing the number of people living in poverty by 2015. While noting that this was at odds with global concern for the low levels of economic growth and recently reported declining human development index in the country, Nwankwo added that it was also smacked of double standards in the current patterns of state intervention in free markets. He said: “It is obvious that the pressure to remove subsidy is designed by experts with insufficient understanding of the Nigerian economy or who choose to ignore the inability of the governments to effectively implement anti-poverty programmes planned as a wider element of a fiscal policy agenda.” http://www.businessdayonline.com/NG/index.php/analysis/features/27761-fuel-subsidy-experts-view-on-its-desirability |
Over 100 people, suspected to be mercenaries that fought for the sacked Libyan Leader, Muammar Gaddafi, have arrived Kaduna through the Nigeria - Niger Republic border at the weekend. They were said to have been conveyed in two luxury bus owned by transport companies located in the South-eastern Nigeria. There were no any official comments from the Kaduna Zonal Comptroller of Immigration, Suleiman Umar, as he kept reporters waiting for hours without attending to them. However, a source in his office explained that the command had to obtain clearance from Abuja and liaise with other relevant security agencies, like the State Security Service (SSS), Police and Army before speaking to the press. "We are yet to ascertain whether they are Gaddafi's fighters but we know they are Nigerians from Libya. They came in through Niger-Nigeria border. As I am talking with you now, another set are at the Kaduna toll gate coming. "What we want to do now is to keep them in our custody and await directives from government on the way forward. We don't have money; certainly, the state will cater for them until further directives. "Right now, high level security meeting is going on at the government house and our zonal comptroller has gone there." One of the victims, who pleaded anonymity, claimed they were wandering in the desert for the past three weeks before they were apprehended by Immigration officials at the Niger-Nigerian border. "We left Libya about two weeks ago wandering in the desert before our arrest and subsequent conveyance here (Kaduna) from the Niger-Nigeria border," he said. They have however been taken to Abuja http://allafrica.com/stories/201109261519.html |

No one respects God's house again anyone just does what they like. sad but true the security of Nigeria is at his worse state Now[/quote]Security has always been non-existant but we never used to resort to this sort of crime. The fact of the matter is people are motivated to do these evil acts. And as sick as it sounds I would prefer these kidnappers go back into international '419' if they really most make money by any means. Maybe GEJ should take a leaf out of IBB's book and turn a blind eye to certain crimes that actually boost the economy. These random kidnappings of local people is the worst form of crime as far as I'm concerned. |

If the truth needs to be told we actually are the ones given our resources away - for paper. During the colonial era our resources were being stolen - now we are simply tricked out of them for paper money. With the chinese they attempted to give us something tangible for the resources - like roads and schools. But with the caucasian all they offer us for the resource is a secret account to stash the cash - and also guns. |

Look how open they are about their scheme. . . . . .The constitution has been amended and they are already saying Putin will serve until 2024 (After which they swap again) Unbelievable . . . . . . . . Are these 'Guys' not taking the p.iss out of the electorate? This democracy thing . . . its a bloody corrupt system. Lets hope GEJ and Iweala dont try this sh.it on Nigerians. |
(Reuters) - Vladimir Putin declared on Saturday that he planned to reclaim the Russian presidency in an election next March that could open the way for the former KGB spy to rule until 2024. The announcement, greeted by a standing ovation at a congress of the prime minister's ruling United Russia party, ended months of speculation over whether he or President Dmitry Medvedev would run. The two have ruled in a power 'tandem' since Putin was forced by the constitution to yield the presidency in 2008 after serving a maximum two consecutive terms, and Putin said they had agreed several years ago how to divide power between them. It was Medvedev who proposed his mentor return as president before thousands of party members in a Moscow sports stadium. "It is a great honor for me," Putin told the audience. "Thank you, I hope for your support." Putin, 58, described in leaked U.S. diplomatic cables as the "Alpha dog" in the tandem, then left the stage and embraced Medvedev. He also proposed his younger and more liberal protege replace him as prime minister after the election to lead a young reformist government. Over 11 years in power, Putin has cultivated the image of a vigorous leader and been filmed riding bare chested on horseback, scuba diving and showing his judo skills. His policies -- crushing a Chechen separatist rebellion, taming super-rich businessmen and bringing wayward regions to heel -- have similarly won him popularity among Russians. But critics say his return to the Kremlin, virtually unopposed, could herald an era of economic and political stagnation in the world's largest country. In an initial reaction, Washington said it expected to keep making progress in the "reset" in relations with Moscow, whoever was the next Russian president. "While we have had a very strong working relationship with President Medvedev, it's worth noting that Vladimir Putin was prime minister throughout the reset," White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said. MEDVEDEV TO HEAD PARTY LIST In carefully choreographed scenes, Putin had earlier on Saturday proposed Medvedev, 46, to lead United Russia's list of candidates for a parliamentary election on December 4. This will prepare Medvedev for a role in government. The move is also intended to help reverse a decline in support for United Russia and boost its hopes of maintaining its two-thirds majority in the State Duma lower house. "I want to say directly: (Medvedev and I) reached an agreement between ourselves long ago, several years ago, on what to do in the future, on who should do what," Putin said. "But both I and Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev believe that this is far from being the most important thing -- who will do what, who will sit in what place. What is far more important is something else: how we will all work, what results we achieve, and what the citizens of our country think of this." Opinion polls show other potential candidates, such as nationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky or Communist Gennady Zyuganov, have much less support and Putin will easily be elected. The main liberal opposition leaders such as former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov have only limited appeal nationwide and Kasyanov's party has been barred from taking part in the parliamentary election. The next president will be elected for six years and the constitution still limits the head of state to a maximum of two straight terms -- meaning Putin could be in power for 12 years. Investors had been urging him to announce his plans because the political uncertainty has deterred many from putting money into the $1.5 trillion economy of the world's largest energy producer. As president from 2000 to 2008, Putin oversaw an economic boom where household incomes improved on the back of a rise in global oil prices and his tough talking and macho image helped restore Russia's self confidence on the world stage. But Putin, who was once a KGB officer in East Germany, is widely seen as more conservative than Medvedev and critics accuse him of riding roughshod over human rights and democracy, and restoring the power of the security forces. ERA OF STAGNATION? Some economists say his return to the Kremlin makes it less likely that Russia will carry out much-needed changes such as pension reforms and reducing Russia's dependency on natural resources. Oil and gas revenues make up half the budget. But Chris Weafer, a strategist at Troika Dialog investment bank, said the need for change made it impossible for Putin not to carry out reforms. "There will not be a return to the government style and agenda priorities of the previous Putin administration. That simply is not an option," he said. Some experts fear a return to the economic stagnation of the 1970s and early 1980s under Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev if reforms are made, and problems such as corruption will remain. Andrei Piontkovsky, a political analyst at the Russian Academy of Sciences, warned of "stagnation and decay for another 12 years , the Brezhnev era revisited." Putin's return to the presidency puts at risk the good reputation he established among many Russians for restoring a degree of stability after President Boris Yeltsin's chaotic presidency in the 1990s following the Soviet Union's collapse. But senior political sources had said Putin was worried by a perception that Medvedev did not have enough support among political and business leaders to ensure stability if he tried to carry out political reforms as president. Other political sources suggested Putin simply did not trust Medvedev enough to allow him another six years as president and has been disappointed with his performance. "I fully agree (with Putin's decision to run). He is a very good and a wise man," said Denis, a Muscovite in his mid-20s. But some Russians complain there is still a lack of democracy and media freedom in Russia and that they have little say in who runs the nuclear power of 142 million people. "Our opinion does not count, as (the outcome) of both the current and the previous elections was pre-determined," said Anna, a Muscovite in her 20s. http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/09/24/us-russia-idUSTRE78N0RH20110924 |
Lesson to all corrupt politicians - its always better to face justice at home. If Ibori had remained in Nigeria to face the music he would probably be a senator or something today. You can buy your way out of anything in Nigeria - Instead the fool will be eating dry turkey, potatoes and some cabbage for xmas. The poorest of villagers in my village are all more better off than Ibori and will enjoy a better xmas. |
THIS WOMAN STILL WORKS FOR AND SERVES THE WORLD BANK. Nigeria is being sold out to western powers before our eyes. How long before the IMF move in to deal with us like Greece? This useless woman has already shown that she cares not for Nigeria - but is more concerned with her dollars. The world bank getting involved in Nigeria's agriculture will lead to the introduction of all sorts of GM crops and other poisons into our food chain. Once this happens then you get the adverse health effects such as cancers which will benefit the manufacturers of pharmaceuticals. The world bank seems to feel Nigeria should be used for cheap labour - afterall the cost of labour and the standard of living has risen sharply in China. So why not see if Nigerian's can now be exploited. God help us all - God help Nigeria - And God help Africa. |
