Health / Personal Hygiene Tips One Must Follow by Suntwist: 12:31pm On Apr 07, 2022
PERSONAL HYGIENE TIPS ONE MUST FOLLOW.

Have you ever wondered what personal hygiene is? it’s something our teachers sing into our ears during our younger days in school. Our teachers tell us to wash our hands properly, trim our nails, brush and bathe twice daily. The funny part of it is that we kind of stopped realizing why this is important as we grew older.

We’re burdened with a lot of responsibilities that we forget how important personal hygiene is. You might wear nice shoes, shirts, trousers, skirts, makeup, etc. But if you don’t take care of your hygiene, everything won’t make sense.

WHAT IS PERSONAL HYGIENE?

We can define hygiene as the science and practice of maintaining good health and preventing diseases through cleanliness.

Personal hygiene refers to self-hygiene practices to protect our health.

Examples of personal hygiene are;

1. Proper and daily washing of our underwear.

2. Hold a handkerchief in front of your mouth and mouth when you sneeze or cough.

3. Taking part in physical exercise. Physical exercise improves blood circulation.

4. Cleaning the ears frequently. Do not use any sharp objects to clean the ears it could damage the eardrums.

5. Rest properly. This is very necessary cause our body needs rest and could break down if it’s not given adequate rest.

6. Daily cleaning of bowels.

7. Do not smoke.

8. Proper cleaning of the house: we should ventilate the house for fresh air, sunlight and oxygen.

9. Do not go to bed immediately after eating. Go to bed early.

10. Making use of deodorants/perfumes. And many more of which we would look at later in this article.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF PERSONAL HYGIENE?

1. Oral hygiene

2. Hair hygiene

3. Skin hygiene

4. Nails hygiene

5. Hand hygiene

ORAL HYGIENE

Healthy teeth and mouth are very important. You need to take good care of your mouth to avoid mouth odour. The whiter your teeth, the better people are going to think your hygiene is.

To good care of your oral health do these;

(a) Use a soft-bristled brush and replace it after 2-3 months.

(b) Brush your teeth twice daily for 2-4 minutes to get rid of plaque that gets collected on the teeth.

(c) After eating a meal, use mouthwash and gargle.

(d) Remove food particles trapped between your meal using a toothpick after every meal.

HAIR HYGIENE

Our hair is an important part of our body, so you need to know how to take good care of your hair. You won’t have your hair looking ugly and unkempt. To have healthy hair, you need to follow these;

(a) Wash your combs and brushes regularly. Don’t share your combs or brushes.

(b) Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner at least twice a week.

(c) Don’t rub or scrub your hair too hard. This could damage your hair or injure your scalp.

(d) Scrub your scalp well to remove dirt.

SKIN HYGIENE

Skin is one important organ of our body we need to pay attention to. No one wants dull or ugly looking skin. These could help.

(a) Bathe twice a day, using shower gels or soaps. Bathing twice daily is important to our hygiene. Every day of our lives we are exposed to all kinds of harmful bacteria and are prone to suffer from their effects if we don’t shower or bathe every day.

(b) Make use of good branded products on your skin. Avoid bleaching products.

(c) Use Deodrants, perfumes or Antiperspirant to avoid body odour.

(d) Apply sunscreen/sunblock to prevent your skin from the harmful rays of the sun.

NAILS HYGIENE

Our nails could serve as shelter to germs if we don’t cut them regularly. Neatly trimmed nails are very important to our hygiene. Therefore, you must cut your nails regularly so that there won’t be any room for germs.

HAND HYGIENE

We expose our hands to different activities every day, activities which get our hands filled with harmful bacteria. That’s why we need to wash our hands thoroughly with soap and water. Hand washing is one way to prevent illnesses such as cough, cold, diarrhoea and so on because we contract all these through dirty hands.

When should you wash your hands?

(a) After using the toilet.

(b) After coughing/sneezing

(c) Before and after eating a meal.

(d) Before touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

(e) After touching pets.

(f) After touching a sick person.

(g) After touching dirty surfaces or objects.

(h) After throwing out the garbage.

HOW TO WASH YOUR HANDS

(a) Place your hands under clean running water.

(b) Apply soap to cover the surfaces of your hands and wrists.

(c) Rub your hands together thoroughly, scrub all the surfaces of your hands, fingernails, wrist

and fingertips.

(d) Scrub your hands for at least 20-30 seconds.

(e) Rinse your hands and wrist under clean running water.

(f) Dry your hands with a clean towel. Turn off the tap with a towel.

PERSONAL HYGIENE FOR MEN AND WOMEN

MEN

• Clean your butthole. Most men forget to wash their buttholes when taking their baths. Out of 10 men, just 3 wash their buttholes daily.

• Swap your towel at least once a week.

• Check your balls when taking a shower for any irregularities. This can be done easily when you’re washing that region lookout for bumps, redness, sores, blisters or even warts.

• Wash and dry your groin properly. After taking a shower, dry your groin properly. If you don’t dry it properly, the moisture left could lead to the creation of bacteria and funguses.

• Brush your teeth twice daily to get rid of bad breath. Also, sanitize your toothbrush with hydrogen peroxide.

• Shave your armpits and pubic region regularly. Rinse your razor thoroughly with warm water to get rid of any leftover residue. Replace your razors frequently.

• Invest in Cologne.

• Change and wash your underwear daily. Do not pile your dirty underwear or wear them for more than a day.

• Get a haircut every two weeks. Maintain a fresh look, also shampoo and condition your hair.

• Get rid of the excess nose and ear hair.

WOMEN

• Avoid using gloves or sponges to wash your intimate areas.

• Trim your body hair.

• Wash the outside of your vagina every day.

• Change your towels every 2 to 3 days. Do not share your towels. Use a soft towel to dry your body after every shower.

• Do not douche.

• Wear cotton underwear. Cotton allows any excess moisture from sweat or discharge to evaporate, instead of becoming a breeding ground for bacteria.

• Shampoo and condition your hair 2-3 times a week.

• Make use of deodorants, perfumes and perfume oil.

• Wear clean and comfortable clothes.

• Be careful when you use a public restroom. Get a pee sanitiser and spray it on the mouth of the water closet before sitting.

• Eat right. Remember, you’re what you eat.

• Wipe correctly. After bathing and urination, you must clean your vagina area from your vagina region towards your anal region. This means you go from front to back.

• Wear clean and comfortable clothes.

• Wash and change your underwear daily.

•Set a reminder; if you often forget to brush your teeth before bed, wash your hair, clip your nail, etc. You could set a reminder. This will ensure you remember to do these things even though you’re busy.

Business / Top 5 Reasons Why Businesses Go Bankrupt by Suntwist: 3:14pm On Mar 07, 2022
5 REASONS WHY BUSINESSES GO BANKRUPT
Business is established to make a profit. As they vary in product or services they render, they all need to make sales and bring in revenue to survive.

What happens when they don’t make a profit?
Owners of most businesses get frustrated once they aren’t making any sales, this reminds me of a family friend who tried growing a business but after some time it crashed. He thought it was the ‘village people’ as they do say but it wasn’t. He later discovered the problem.

You might ask what the problem was. Well, it was a lack of knowledge, he thought he knew a lot about the business of which he didn’t.

Before you start any business the first thing you need to do is to make proper research about the business, know what location fits the business, know what your customer wants from you and also adapt to change.

As we know lack of probability is the primary reason why businesses go bankrupt, other reasons could make a business go bankrupt.

Here are other reasons why businesses go bankrupt.
1. No strategy; In every business, you need to know where you’re going and what steps you need to take. For instance, if I do this then I can do that, and then the business can expand into this. All this is a chain process people call STRATEGY and without it, every business is doomed to fail. Your strategy is what allows you to deal with the market, how you behave in times of prosperity and in times of crisis. Strategy is the foundation of all your decision and it allows you to keep track of your business progress.

2. A poor understanding of market needs; one of the reasons some businesses go bankrupt is that they ignore the customer. This might sound somehow but it’s the truth. Listening to your customers is an invaluable practice that allows a business to learn, grow and adapt. Customers are always giving feedback and suggesting what they need to satisfy their needs. You must keep your customers in mind and focus on their problems.

3. The inability to sell; cash flow is the oxygen of every business as long as you have money coming. The Statistics state that poor cash flow accounts for 82% of business bankruptcy. Owners of most businesses think if they build a brand people would come rushing to get it but get disappointed once no one is interested in what they have to offer even if it can solve their problem. Why? It’s because they don’t know how to sell. Selling is the art of telling compelling stories that explain the benefits your product or service will have in the life of the consumer. So, the better you are at telling stories the more oxygen you can feed into your business.
Poor financial management; This has led a lot of businesses to bankruptcy. If you don’t know how to manage whatever amount of money you have it would be difficult to give an account. Businesses that do not have a record of how money comes in and out of the company would go into bankruptcy.

4. Poor financial management; This has led a lot of businesses to bankruptcy. If you don’t know how to manage whatever amount of money you have it would be difficult to give an account. Businesses that do not have a record of how money comes in and out of the company would go into bankruptcy.

5. Poor investment; an investment without proper knowledge or experience can lead to bankruptcy. Owners of some businesses jump into different investment plans without having an in-depth knowledge of what it entails. The best way to avoid this is to learn as much as possible before investing i.e. make thorough research. Get help from experts and invest in a more stable market if unsure.

Bankruptcy can also result from a lot of other problems such as poor business locations, criminal activity like theft and fraud, personal issues like divorce, and disasters like storms, floods, and fires. To avoid bankruptcy you need to make proper research of your business. Know the risk involved in the business, understand your market, be open to reinventing your business, hire the right employees and ask for help from experts when needed.

I wish you a productive day.

Ever felt so thirsty and you're wondering if this is a sign that something is wrong.
Have you been feeling light-headed especially when you're standing or you feel weak, the cause of all these symptoms might be a result of dehydration?

The human body is roughly 75% water without this water, we cannot survive. The cell tissue and organs constitute water as it makes up the entire body. It lubricates the joints and eyes, aids digestion, flushes out waste and keeps the skin healthy.

WHAT IS DEHYDRATION?
Dehydration is when you lose an excessive amount of water and fluids from your system.

CAUSES OF DEHYDRATION
Dehydration occurs when we don't take enough fluid to replace the ones we lost.
It can also occur when you don't drink enough water because you are busy/sick/because you don't have access to safe drinking water.
Other causes of dehydration include;
1. Intense workout; this causes you to sweat making you lose a lot of your body's fluids. If you don't replace the fluids with drinking water you will be dehydrated.

2. Hot environments; hot environment causes a rise in internal temperature to your body, as a result, your body has to lose fluid through sweat to compensate for the heat. Hot weather increases the amount you sweat and the amount of fluid you lose.

3. Diarrhea/vomiting: Diarrhea/vomiting can cause a tremendous loss of water and electrolytes in a short amount of time.

4. Fever; having a fever could make you dehydrated. The higher the fever the more dehydrated you may become.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Many people ask how do I know if I'm dehydrated. Apart from feeling thirsty, that shows you are not properly hydrated and decreased urine output to try to conserve water loss.
There are other signs/symptoms of dehydration.
1. Lightheadedness especially when standing
2. Heart palpitation
3. Muscle cramps
4. Dry mouth
5. Weakness
6. Decreased urine output or your pee has a strange colour.
7. Skin looks dry, patchy or less stretchy.

HOW DO YOU KEEP DEHYDRATION AT BAY?
1. By eating fruits and vegetables with high water content, clean water and low-calorie drinks without any sugar or fats. Avoid soda, alcohol, sweet drinks or caffeine, they can worsen dehydration.
2. Drink water before any sports activity, at regular intervals during the sports activity and also after the sport.
3. Drink a lot of water when you are ill especially if you are vomiting or you have diarrhoea.

WHO IS AT RISK FROM DEHYDRATION?
Everyone gets dehydrated but certain groups are particularly at risk.
These groups are;
1. Infants and young children
2. Older people
3. People with chronic conditions such as diabetes, alcoholism, kidney disease and cystic fibrosis.
4. Athletes

EFFECTS OF DEHYDRATION ON THE BODY
1. Low blood pressure
2. Increased heart rate
3. Sunken eyes
4. Lack of sweating
5. Dry skin

Dehydration is nothing minor to play with and if you don't pay attention it may even threaten your life in extreme cases.

Always stay hydrated.

A-5 MORNING ROUTINE THAT WILL GIVE YOU A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
The sun is shining, your alarm is buzzing. Arrgh! The morning is here again. It's time to get ready for the hustle and bustle of the day.
What's the first thing you do in the morning?
Check your phone, quickly brush your teeth or go straight to your fridge to pick up some desserts.
The way you start your morning can have a big impact on the rest of the day. If you are the type that jumps from the bed, rush into the bathroom and rush to get ready for work. You need to change your morning routine. You could start your day by drinking water, having a healthy breakfast or exercising your body.
To have a productive day your morning has to be done right.

Here is the A-5 morning routine you need to adopt to live a healthy lifestyle.

1. Drink water; hydration is the key to every bodily function. If you're not gulping down a nice glass of water you're doing yourself a disservice. Drinking water just after you wake up sets your body for smooth digestion throughout the day. It helps flush out toxins that have been in your belly while you were sleeping and also help to prevent any kidney related diseases.
If you want to watch your weight drinking water in the morning could help. It enables your body to burn more calories throughout the day. To make this effective you should try squeezing lemon into your water. The lemon water will make you feel a little fuller so you don't munch a large amount of breakfast.

2. Eat a healthy breakfast; We enjoy chewing down a full plate of cereals in the morning. Well, this sugary breakfast does nothing to help your body throughout the day. It may give you a bit of energy you need at first but when your blood sugar level drops after a couple of hours, you will get tired and famished. That's why you have to opt for a more nutritious breakfast instead of sugary treats.

3. Exercise; the health benefits of regular exercise are hard to ignore. Exercise helps to combat health conditions and disease, it helps to improve your mood, lose weight, boost energy, promotes good sleep etc. After a long night of sleep, your muscles may feel tight and stiff exercising your body in the morning is a great way to prepare your body for the day by lubricating the joints in warming up ghe muscles. Try doing exercise every morning and you won't regret it.

4. Write in your journal; when you get up from bed in the morning take a few minutes to write down something in your journal. This helps you to reflect on things, know what area in your life you need to improve and also makes you keep in touch with yourself.

5. Don't hit snooze; get up as soon as your alarm goes off. While enjoying that sweet dream there's nothing more annoying than hearing your alarm goes off, I know it can be frustrating that's why you're always tempted to hit the snooze button. The snooze button does more harm than good when it comes to having a productive day. When you hit the snooze button, you're interrupting your sleep cycle which will make you disoriented after you get out of bed. To avoid this put your alarm away from your arm's reach to make this easy.

Education / Love Languages You Need To Know by Suntwist: 1:07pm On Feb 14, 2022
7 LOVE LANGUAGES YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
Are you in one of those relationships where you do everything to please your partner and they still feel unloved? you give them gifts, compliment them and still try to help out with one or two things, but they still feel unloved. You’ve been wondering what they want from you, it’s getting you frustrated and tired.
Well, the reason why they aren’t feeling loved is that you’re not speaking their love language.
What you need to know is that people don’t give and receive love in the same way. Most of us think that the way we want to be loved is the same way others want to be loved but that’s not the case.
You need to know and understand the love language of your partner, know what to do and say that would make them feel loved. Just imagine a Korean guy is trying to talk to a Chinese lady, things won’t go well because they can’t understand each other.
If you want to have a smooth and strong relationship you must know how you and your partner give and receive love.
Before I mention the seven types of love languages, let's first know what love is.

What is love?
According to Nicholas Sparks, "Love is like the wind, you can't see it but you can feel it".
Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offence and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Here are 7 Love Languages you should know about;

1. Receiving gifts;
" Some gifts are small others are great but the ones that come from the heart are the best gifts of all" _ Tinku Razoria
This type of love language means that the act of giving or receiving gifts is viewed as showing affection. To you receiving gifts is the best way of them showing they love you. I'm not talking about being materialistic or the cost of the object but the thoughts behind it. It can be simple as a card or some packs of flowers.
Birthdays and anniversaries are a real deal to you and the thoughts of your partner missing one devastate you.

2. Quality time;
"Time is the currency of relationships. If you want to invest in your relationships, start by investing your time"_ Dave Willis partner missing one devastate you.
People with this love language enjoy spending time with their partners without any distractions. To the person, undivided attention has always been a sign of respect and interest.
When you are with your partner, it doesn't matter what you're doing as long as you're doing it together. You don't want your partner being interrupted with their phones or not paying attention when you speak. You feel hurt when your partner isn't making spending time with them a priority. So, if this is your partner's love language learn how to listen, make eye contact more and spend more time with them.

3. Words of affirmation;
" Words so powerful. They can crush a heart, or heal it. They can shame a soul, or liberate it. They can shatter dreams, or energize them. They can obstruct connection, or invite it. They can create defences, or melt them. We have to use words wisely" _ Jeff Brown.
Showing affection through spoken words and compliments are key with this love language. When you know this is your partner's love language give them genuine compliments and tell them you appreciate them often.

4. Act of service;
"Day-to-day acts of service may not seem important, but they are building cords of love that become so strong they can seldom be broken" _ Marvin J. Ashton
In This type of love language, you feel loved and appreciated when someone does something nice to you. Things like; house chores running errands, taking out the trash, paying the bills or picking up the kids from school are the loving characteristics of this love language.

5. Physical touch;
"No other form of communication is as universally understood as touch. The compassionate touch of a hand or a reassuring hug can take away our fears, soothe our anxieties and feel the emptiness of being lonely"_ Randi G. Fine
A person with this love language feels loved through physical affection. This doesn't necessarily mean sex, it could be hugging, cuddling or holding hands. If this is your love language you would love when your partner is around and any kind of neglect or abuse would destroy this type of person and their relationship.

6. Communication ;
"Communication in a relationship is like oxygen is to life. Without it, it dies" _ Tony A. Gaskins Jr
Communication is the key to a successful relationship, never assume your partner knows about everything.
This one major problem in relationships, we assume our partners know how we feel. I had trouble communicating with my partner whenever she does things to annoy me, I expected her to know and make amends. And this always brings a strain to our relationship.
This is not a good thing to do.
When you do not communicate your needs with your partner you end up losing each other. Keep your communication clear in your relationship, let your partner know the love language you feel loved and also love them in the way they feel loved.

7. Expression of affection:
"Love is not what you say. Love is what you do"
If you love someone it should show in your actions. Don't just love with words express how you feel through your actions.
I'm the type of person that loves to show affection to my partner. Showing affection won't make me less of a man nor make you seem weak.
It takes a second to say I love you but a lifetime to show it.

Conclusion
Your love language is the way you communicate and receive love. which one do you strongly identify with? You may like all but one of them has to be the one that resonates with you the most. To have a healthy relationship it's important you know your primary love language and that of your partner.
I wish you the very best your relationships.
