The Chinese military is always training, always acquiring the most recent weapons, very very well financed, and wait for it..., almost two million man strong! A typical fighting machine! All sorts of weapons! Aircraft carriers, ICBMs, stealth fighter jets, nuclear weapons... Boy, oh boy! The Chinese are just respecting the west and all those sanctions and disruptions to world trade, otherwise your Taiwan is toast! One week at not and Taipei will join the 'motherland'..

Xi JinPing seems to me to be the Chinese leader entrusted with the responsibility of unifying Taiwan, Hong Kong and China under a strong mainland rule. The way he's going, It's starting to look like that decision has already been made and they are just waiting for the best time to strike. The Hong Kong hullabaloo to me is just like testing waters.. The west didn't react as vociferously as one would have expected to save democratic Hong Kong from total control of the mainland.. The mainland Chinese have a very high nationalistic quotent and are really afraid of nobody except the Americans and maybe the Russians. To most of them, the Hong kuand Taiwan episodes are some sort of national humiliations that need to be rectified! And the unification of Taiwan with mainland China will be a huge event for any Chinese leader.

Macau is back in the fold, Hong Kong is back to the fold, most part of China Sea is almost being controlled by mainland China, they are grabbing enough land from India! Taiwan is the missing part in the jigsaw! Xi is a hard man whose father operated with Mao! So he's like the original communist, not the pro capitalists like Hu JingTao and Deng Xiaoping who really craved for a peaceful relations with the west.. I also think that the Communist politiburu in Beijing are of the view that the Americans may not come out in full force to defend Taiwan. So it's now a question of factoring when the whole exercise won't destabilize world trade and alliances because Taiwan itself in military terms is a sitting duck when compared to the mainland..

They will always fear those who can destroy that attachment to the centre or even truncate the centre entirely with the separation of Nigeria. They know it is only the Yorubas capable of that in Nigeria.

The North has no option but to grant concession to the Yorubas. They may not want to do it but they have to do it.

Aside the Yorubas, Northerners don't generally have regards for other Nigerians least of all Igbos they see as disunited, treacherous and greedy folks who can always be 'induced' to sell out themselves.

We are seeing this with Umahi and others who want to join APC last minute because some Northern upstarts who were nobody at the inception of APC, and will soon be cut to size, are fooling them to think they have a chance hijacking top positions of the Party in 2023.
