PoliticsThe Murder Of The Fulani: Yugoslavia Unfolding - Femi Fani-kayode by superneutral(op): 8:38am On Apr 11, 2016
The Department of State Security (DSS) have claimed that five Fulani herdsmen were abducted, killed and buried in a mass grave by members of IPOB in Abia state a few days ago. They have also claimed that there were up to fifty more bodies in that ma
ss grave and that they are all Fulani. The implications of this announcement is obvious. It will create more tension and fear in the land and it will lead to reprisal killings in the north.
Violence is never the way out and I have always believed that it has no place in any civilized society. Yet what I find curious about this announcement is the fact that it is unique and historic. I say this because thousands of Igbos, Yorubas, Niger-Deltans and Middle Belters have been killed by Fulani militants and herdsmen over the last ten months since President Buhari came to power yet the DSS has never announced it and told the country about the details and ethnic identities of the victims.

When one thousand Shiite Muslims were slaughtered in Zaria and buried in mass graves the DSS did not speak. When five hundred Idomas were massacred in Agatu by Fulani militants the DSS did not speak. When hundreds of southern and Middle Belt farms were raided by AK-47-wielding Fulani herdsmen who murdered, raped, burnt down and took over the land of their victims the DSS never gave us details of the victims or made any announcements.

When our leaders in the south were kidnapped and when men witnessed their wives and children being raped and butchered by the Fulani militias before their very eyes the DSS made no announcements. When the International Terror Index told the world that the Fulani militias in Nigeria are the "fourth most deadly terror organization in the world" the DSS said nothing and neither did they give us details about their activities or their victims.

Worse of all is the fact that our government and our President, who himself happens to be a Fulani, has never deemed it fit or necessary to condemn the activities of the Fulani herdsmen and militants and neither have they expressed any sympathy or displayed any empathy for their many victims. Let me be clear: the murder of anyone, regardless of their ethnicity or faith, is unacceptable to me.

I deplore murder and violence and in my view the killing of one innocent soul diminishes the humanity of every single one of us as a community and nation. However it seems curious that the minute that Fulanis are killed in the east the DSS is quick to rise to the occasion and express concern about it whilst they do not express the same concern when Nigerians from other ethnic nationalities are killed by the Fulani in their own homes and land.

Therein lies the double standard and it is sad and unfortunate. Furthermore not only is it very dangerous but it also confirms the view that our government and security agencies are not only partial but that they are also attempting to implement an ethnic and religious agenda. Three questions must be answered: firstly who is funding the Fulani herdsmen and where do they get their weapons from? Secondly why does our government not only turn a blind eye to the mass murder and genocide that they regularly indulge in but also go out of their way to protect them?

And thirdly why do the government and security agencies have so much hatred and contempt for those that the Fulani regularly target and their victims and why do they believe that those victims do not deserve to enjoy the full protection of the Nigerian Federal Government? Could it be because they are regarded as slaves and second class citizens?

Is Fulani blood and are Fulani lives more important than others? Indeed do non-Fulani lives matter in President Buhari's Nigeria? Are we compelled to begin a ‘’non-Fulani lives matter’’ movement which is based and fashioned on the ‘’Black Lives Matter’’ movement in the United States of America before we can draw the attention of the world to what is going on in our country? Is it not obvious and logical that when the security agencies refuse to protect the citizens from the murderous hordes and herdsmen from hell those citizens will eventually seek to protect themselves and go on the offensive?

That is human nature and it is to be expected. Is it not clear to those in power that when a people are convinced that their government is no longer impartial in any conflict and that the security agencies of that government have been directed to go out of their way to actively and openly support those that constantly and regularly slaughter their people it will eventually lead to open war? Is it so difficult to accept the fact that no government and no force from hell or on earth can compel or intimidate a man into lying down passively and silently watch his family, loved ones and kinsmen being butchered and slaughtered morning, day and night without trying to protect them and without indulging in some form of retaliation?

With the sort of things that are going on in our country today it is time to tell ourselves some home-truths. No-one wishes to accept it let alone say it but sadly war will come to Nigeria again within the next few years. I do not want war and I consider it to be the ultimate evil but I am constrained to speak the truth and say things as I see them. The fact that a war is coming is a testimony to the fact that we have all failed to manage the peace that God has given us since 1970 and the cessation of hostilities after our brutal civil war.

We have failed so badly that the remote and immediate causes of that civil war are back with us today even though we hate to admit or acknowledge it. Our country is like Yugoslavia unfolding before it exploded and violently broke into five separate countries. All the signs are there. Anyone that knows about the history of Yugoslavia or that is a student of world history will agree with me and appreciate what I am saying. Consider the dangerous mix. A crumbling economy. An inept, weak, failing and paranoid government. A hungry, angry and increasingly desperate civilian population. An ignorant, obsessive, arrogant, insensitive, corrupt and self-absorbed political class who are out of touch with reality.

The ruthless implementation of an ethnic and religious agenda by a reckless and irresponsible government that refuses to consider the implications of taking such a course of action and that have an early-1960’s mind-set. The growing unrest, ethnic killings and sectarian murders.

An ethnic and religious division within the Armed Forces and security agencies. A relentless clamp-down on and persecution of the opposition and all dissenting voices by the government and the use of fear as a tool of governance and control.

The entering into a secret and covert treaty and military alliance with a group of Arab Sunni Muslim countries that seek to Islamise our country, that have, over the years, funded the most brutal and barbaric jihadist and radical Islamist terrorist organisations all over the world and that seek to impugn our national integrity and violate the secularity of our state.

The constant and open abuse of power. The impunity and insensitivity of the Buhari administration to the plight of the masses. The hunger, hardship, poverty and suffering in the land. The failure of the government to get rid of the fuel queues and supply electrical power.

PoliticsHow My Fight Against Subsidy Fraud Led To The Kidnap Of My Mother- Okonjo-iweala by superneutral(op): 8:27am On Apr 07, 2016
In a recent interview with French newspaper, Le Monde, former Minister for Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said her fight against the fraud being carried out through the subsidy regime while she was minister, led to the kidnap of her 83 years old mother.

Okonjo-Iweala said she had asked former president Goodluck Jonathan to remove the subsidy regime after the massive corruption in it was uncovered.

She said when her mother was kidnapped, all the kidnappers demanded was for her to resign.
“I told the president that we would stop paying(subsidy). What happened? They kidnapped my mother, 83 years. During the first three days, their only demand was my resignation. I was supposed to go on television and announce my resignation. This was one of the worst moments of my life. Can you imagine what happens in your head if you have to be responsible for the death of your mother? I will not go into details, but you must understand that in a country like this… in the fight against corruption, we must be prepared to pay a personal price. My father asked me not to resign. The president asked me not to resign. At the end, everyone began looking for her, and the kidnappers released her”‎she said
According to Okonjo-Iweala, state governors were opposed to saving the money realised during the oil boom in the past administration
"‎When I was finance minister the first time, the volatility of oil prices, and therefore state resources, cost at least three points of growth in the country. We then established a stabilization mechanism and opened an account for the oil surplus, which posted up to $22 billion. In 2008, when prices fell from 148 to $ 38 a barrel, no one heard of Nigeria because the country was able to tap into this fund. And that, I am very proud of. When I returned to the department in 2011, there remained only $4 billion on this account while the price of oil was very high! I tried again to put money aside. The president agreed, but the governors did not accept. I suffered a lot of attacks from them and now that the country would really need this account, these same people accuse me of not having saved! If Nigeria had been more careful, we would not be here today. It hurts me"she said.

BusinessHow To Effectively Make Money Online Tips And Tricks by superneutral(op): 10:54pm On Apr 06, 2016
How to Effectively Make Money Online Tips
With the advancement in technology, so much activity has become simplified; in fact life has respectively gotten a lot more easier. Think about this; we shop online, we sell online, we date online, we advertise online, interviews are being conducted online and almost everything is turning digital. Most especially, with the onset of internet civilization, most people have taken upon themselves to either dodge office professions while maximally concentrating their efforts on making money online or using the online platform to make some extra bucks. The economy today is deafening to say the least and with the opportunity to shed more light towards your overall earnings, that decision is not to be prolonged. While you probably already know how to go about making money on the internet, could also be that you are looking for those bucks in all the wrong places.

Some viable platforms for online money making as a freelancer

Flipping domain names- This is a valuable tool for online money making where people make quite a substantial gain buying and selling domain names. The best trick is to use Google AdWords to find trending keywords and then using this info to buy those domain names that are likely to be in demand soon.

Doing Surveys online- Though these won't earn you much at a glance, they do add up when you need cash out of the blues. However, after you sign up with Surveyor companies, you will need to keep an eye out, checking emails often for opportunities to make sure you don't miss out on great chances.

Transcription- There are many freelancing sites online offering to pay for transcription services. While these won't pay you luxuriously, they don't require much effort either and you can easily maximize on profits by increasing workload.

Affiliate marketing- This is concerned with promoting other people's products and services without holding any inventory. This works by having affiliate advertisements incorporated into your website or blog through linked articles. Now your earning comes in when visitors to your site click on these links redirecting them to the client's article or site.

Articles Writing- Most websites and businesses need top notch articles to promote their services or increase traffic and are bound to require writing services often. You won't be making that much in the beginning that's true, but with time after you've honed your skills and you can now choose to set desired rates. Again if you are exceptionally skilled, you can try submitting your work for publications which will pay even better.

Tips to maximize on online money making

Start a blog- A blog lets you promote your work online while also giving you the added bonus of earning from affiliate programs and advertisements. So you want to maximize on your online earnings? Then know you need a blog and it's not an option.

If a deal is too good, think twice- You cannot afford to follow blindly when clients offer huge paychecks for work that is not comparable. Scam is next to normal today, so if something is too good to be true, you've got to be vigilant.

Maximize on social media- These social platforms that we regard to as leisure routes like Facebook and Twitter goes a long way to helping create a buzz within your website or online business. Social platforms help greatly in building brand recognition and awareness.

Expand on one Niche at a time- It appeals better to have a long queue of blogs in various categories at the same time but while this may sound amazingly great, you might miss the chance to optimize on either of these many categories. Choose the Niche that best defines you and after you are able to expand on it, now you can start working on the others.

Invest daily- If you are making money through a website, then consistency is key. With so much competition getting sloppy only works to whip you out of the game, your customers needs to relate to you being accessible and definitely dependable.

PoliticsAmbode Gets Kudos Over Improved Health Budget by superneutral(op): 4:42pm On Apr 05, 2016
GOVERNOR Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state has been commended for giving priority to the health sector in the 2016 budgetary allocation of the State.

Gov Ambode
Giving the commendation in Lagos, the Nigeria Network of Non-Governmental Organisations, NNNGOs, remarked that the health sector in Lagos got about 9.6 percent of the budget which is higher than the 2014 and 2015 allocation of about 6 to 7 percent.”

Speaking during the quarterly CS-Media forum organised by Devcoms Network, the Secretary General of the Association, Barrister Ayo Adebusoye however urged the governor to ensure more transparency in the implementation of the budget and make copies available online.

Further, he said the distribution of ambulances to all LGAs and General Hospitals in the state immediate after the Governor assume office was a step in right direction.

Adebusoye said efforts of the state government may have little or no impact without the appointment of health authorities into the various Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas, across the state.

“The health authority personnel are an important structure in the health sector. They are recognised by the National Health Act as the body to manage health at the local government level.

He said they supervise activities of Ward Health Committee and health officers and that their time had elapsed, and urged the Governor not to waste time appointing new officers.

Adebusoye noted that the Lagos state government had invested a lot in healthcare which needed to be complimented at primary care level, but it was not happening remained the weakest point.

PoliticsFuel Scarcity: Lagos Assembly Urges Buhari To End Hardship by superneutral(op):
The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to proffer solution to the lingering fuel scarcity and its attendant hardship on citizens.

The call followed a motion raised by the Majority Leader of the House, Mr Sanai Agunbiade and seconded by Mr Segun Olulade, the Chairman, House Committee on Health, under matter of public urgent importance.

Agunbiade said a lot of workers were lamenting over gridlock caused by fuel queues.

“In Lagos, every minute counts. Many workers now get queries for coming late to work. People now store petrol at homes.

“Prices of goods and commodities are high, and fares have increased. The President should address the issue of fuel scarcity and deal with everyone involved,” he said.

Olulade, on his part, said: “A lot of people are facing serious hardship; we have hospitals that cannot provide electricity in case of emergency because of scarcity. The President should address the issue quickly.”

Contributing, Mr Tunde Braimoh, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, described the situation as ‘’embarrassing’’, saying that the President has all it takes to salvage the situation.

Also, Mr Yinka Ogundimu, the Chairman, House Committee on Finance, said all agencies in Lagos were overstretched and a lot of time was wasted queuing for fuel.

“We should call on the President to come up with immediate solution,” he said.

The Speaker of the House, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, said it was not necessary to start apportioning blames or identifying scapegoats, but the Federal Government should find a lasting solution to the problem.

“I saw people carrying kegs all over the city and I understand that some of them sleep at filling stations.

“The roads from my house were deserted as I was coming to the office and this is a bad signal.

“Mr President should look for a solution; we should not look at the past or blame the Petroleum Minister for what he said recently since he has apologised. We must take action now.

“Whatever it is, our people should get fuel to move around for their businesses. We must avoid whatever can lead to angry mobs. It is becoming so unbearable and it must not be allowed,” he said.

The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House, Mr Ganiu Abiru, to write a letter to the President to find a lasting solution to the problem and make fuel available in Lagos State.

The House said that the President should address the people on the situation and appealed to residents to be calm until a solution was found to the problem.

It also called on Buhari to direct all the necessary Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that have direct connections with the distribution of fuel to help the masses by curbing the hardship.

The lawmakers said that special attention should be given to Lagos State as the economic nerve centre of the nation as many workers now sleep at filling stations.

The House also called on Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode to direct the necessary agencies in the state to effectively control gridlock occasioned by scarcity.

It noted that the indiscriminate queuing at filling stations had affected traffic flow and many people were getting to their offices late. (NAN)

PoliticsWhy Governor Fayose Must Hang by superneutral(op): 11:24am On Apr 05, 2016
PETER Ayodele Fayose. Two-time Governor of Ekiti State. There’s certainly something to say for this man. Without question he is, for good or for ill, the most talked about State Governor in Nigeria today. He is one of the most controversial, if not the most controversial.

Those who believe in him, who swear by his name, would readily die for him, would give whatever it would take for their man to retain his gubernatorial seat, will strike innumerable blows to thwart his traducers. Others who hold Fayose to be beneath contempt, who proclaim that disdain expended on his account amounts to vital energy exercised in obedience to barrenness, people who abhor all that the man stands for, and who stand eternally against his regular ventilation of contrary opinion, would yearn for a cudgel – and a chance to bring the deadly weapon hard down on his head, to shatter his cranium, to finish off everything for the first-and-final time.

Yet, there is something to say for Ayodele Fayose. If the country ever had an autonomous Governor, the accolade belongs to this occupant of the Ekiti Governor’s Lodge. Leftwing ideologue Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa, tried his hands at autonomy as Governor of the old Kaduna State during the Second Republic. He waged a determined war against the behemoth known otherwise as feudalism.

He got impeached in less than two years. Even though the exercise that moved him from office was unwarranted, unjustified and shameful, the Federal Government then run by the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) sanctioned it. He went. Balarabe may have had a chance to bounce back to the governorship seat but a second, protracted military interregnum killed and buried the possibility. He still lives though – with his integrity intact – while very little is today heard of those who abused democracy to get a blameless leader off the principled path.

Fayose is empathetic to Balarabe’s experience. On October 16, 2006, he suffered a similar fate when into the third of his four-year tenure as Governor of Ekiti State. He was impeached, not necessarily because he was a wolf among the sheep, but largely because the top leadership of his political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), found him expendable. But age was on his side. Only a month shy of his 46 birthday when he was impeached, he bided his time. He switched parties. He contested other elections. He ultimately returned to the PDP. Then he strode back to Government House, Ado-Ekiti!

Peter Ayodele Fayose has soared to the zenith. He has plummeted to the nadir. The extreme experiences have fashioned and sharpened his choices. It is said that a man who moved forward, and then moved backward, stood in a proper stead to contextualize positioning, in order to determine the best of options at all times. Fayose has seen it all. Like gold, he has been tempered by the alchemist’s unrelenting fire. If he professed half measures previously, the Fayose of the Second Coming has shed kid gloves for iron fists in the fight against chicanery. He has effected an adamantine repudiation of fear. He now has little problem glaring at the lion and spitting in its face. Like a Shakespearean scholar, he has taken to heart the immortal words of Caesar in Julius Caesar:

Cowards die many times before their deaths;

The valiant never taste of death but once.

Of all the wonders that I yet have heard,

It seems to me most strange that men should fear,

Seeing that death, a necessary end,

Will come when it will come.

Fayose has left many disconcerted and scandalised. Coming from Ekiti, a state reputedly peopled by professors, he wasn’t even counted in the ranks of academics. So, what business had he being the tenant at Government House, Ado-Ekiti? Those mouthing this question forget that professorship and leadership stand in distinction. They take no account of the fact that Ekiti indigenes appear infinitely more interested in those who care for their very existence than the rest who are interested mainly in stuffing their brains with the contents of the fattest tomes.

They are becoming wiser, or are they? They had impeached Fayose in 2006. When they tried a reenactment of the absurdity last year, the people refused and said No! They demonstrated their preparedness to die for the one unafraid to die. Thus, they worsted undemocratic elements. At that time, all members of the Ekiti State Assembly were of the opposition. They commenced a fresh move to impeach Fayose this year, when all members of the State Assembly are of the Governor’s party! The Honourable members went public, disavowing inducement with filthy lucre, opting instead for long stretches behind bars or worse! They would never abide by the disgraceful plot to impeach the one that led from the front.

Whatever his political adversaries and opponents mete out to him today or the day after today, (And only what the Lord sanctions can happen to him), Fayose has become a star. He will, like Balarabe Musa, shine over the dulled and dying ends of the political Lilliputians wielding political power tyrannously; politicians in opposition to the contentions and contretemps that add colour and vigour to democratic culture and texture.

The critical cannot but be sorry for the pathetic lot against Fayose because he is sometimes clad in T-shirts and jeans pants, and rides on Okada motorbikes, and eats in open spaces and bukaterias with society’s flotsam and jetsam. Fayose only borrowed from Fela who, during the 1970s craze for the Mercedes had purchased one such German limousine and used it to carry firewood through the streets of Lagos. Fayose has demystified governance and shamed those that confuse the hood for the monk. He has exposed the ludicrousness of fops invariably turned out in what a well-known teacher once memorably described as the Garment of Stupidity.

In the sense of embodying free speech, Fayose is currently an Epitome of Democracy. He never shies away from the right to pronounce in mediation of contemporary challenges. His interventions should keep any true leader on their toes. He has advised President Buhari to shun globetrotting and settle down to some work! He has questioned Buhari’s physicality for the onerous job of directing Nigeria’s affairs. He has condemned the political leadership’s indifference to the marauding massacres by Fulani herdsmen. He is, therefore, more patriotic than hypocrites and sycophants who would tell a leader that the stench of his fart wafts like lavender.

Only last week, the Ekiti chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) spectacularly claimed that Governor Fayose’s conduct was a threat to “national security.” If they got a chance, they would probably recommend that he hangs. Since I have written, not about a saint, but on a voice against the crowning of unworthy heads with the halo of sanctity, I align myself with the metaphor of hanging. But, say I, Governor Fayose is not a candidate for the noose. Rather, his official portrait should hang prominently on a wall in the nation’s Hall of Fame.

Mr. Chuks Iloegbunam, an author, wrote from Lagos.

PoliticsBuhari: Between Ayo Fayose And Yours Truly, By Femi Fani-kayode (part 1) by superneutral(op): 11:06am On Apr 05, 2016
People often say that my friend and brother, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state and I are giving the President Muhammadu Buhari government a run for their money more than any other duo in the country.

Fani- Kayode and President Muhammadu Buhari
Though he and I come from very different backgrounds and our approach and styles, when confronting issues, are very different they say that we are both deeply committed to our cause, we are both contentious and that we both have the courage of our convictions.

They also say we are both ready to pick up the gauntlet, champion the cause of our party and people and stand our ground when confronted by our adversaries or provoked into any fight.

There is no doubt about the fact that both Fayose and I are similar in some ways. We both draw immense strength from our respective christian testimonies and the power of our faith. We also both have a similar world-view and we both have a fair idea about who the real troublers of our nation, our faith and our people are.

We are both what we are because of what we have been subjected to by the system and the powers that be over the years and because of what we have both suffered and been through in the hands of those we once reverred, worked with and trusted. We are also both praying men who have loved ones and family that are strong in the faith and that pray hard and well.

I agree with the assesment of those that often compare us but there is a small caveat: I regard Fayose as being a populist- a rugged, grassroots leader of the suffering masses and a radical politician whilst I see myself more as a man of letters, a historian, a deep-thinker and a politically-active but cloistered intellectual.

Permit me to make a rather crude analogy and to indulge in a graphic and disturbing metaphor. In our long-drawn and protracted political battle and struggle for power he uses a thick and blunt cudgel to fight our enemies and batter them to death whilst I use a thin and sharp rapier with which

I slowly carve them up, slice them to pieces and bleed them into eternity.

He crushes their bones with rage and brutal efficiency whilst I clinically cut them up with ruthless precision. Both methods are equally effective and both achieve their objectives.

Yet, whatever our differences may be in terms of style, choice of weapon, method of battle, substance and approach, they say that we have both courageously stood up to the Buhari government and that we have both defiantly spoken our minds about what is going on in our country today. Consequently they have described us both as “lions and warriors”.

This is very kind of them though, in all fairness, I believe that writers and columnists like Mr. Yinka Odumakin, Professor Femi Aribisala and Mr. Jude Ndukwe, politicians like Governor Seriake Dickson, Governor Olusegun Mimiko and Dr. Sulaiman Olanrewaju Abubakar (the former Minister of National Planning), bloggers like Mr. Deji Adeyanju and Mrs. Aziza Uko, journalists like Mr. Shaka Momodu and Mr. Yemi Adebowale and countless others fall into that “lion” category as well. They have also displayed immense courage. It is not just Ayo Fayose and yours truly.

Some of our friends have also pointed out that all that we said about President Buhari and the APC during the Presidential campaign last year have proved to be prophetic. All these kind words and this rather generous assessment and categorization of both Fayose and I is very encouraging and I appreciate them.

Unlike in other nations where vocal opposition is encouraged and regarded as an essential part of democracy and an effective way of keeping those in power on their toes, when one sticks ones neck out for their country and people and is loud in their opposition to government in this part of the world, it is a thankless, unappreciated, lonely and dangerous road.

And sadly, more often than not, one is mocked, shunned, despised, hated, misunderstood, persecuted, maligned, insulted and misrepresented for taking it.

This is especially so when one is dealing with a callous and ruthless government, like we have in our country today. We are being led by a group of people who have a hidden agenda, who hate their perceived enemies and detractors, who are inherently incompetent and who are manifestly unjust.

We are burdened with a government who cannot abide criticism, who are scared of their own shadow, who have no decency or honor and who have failed in all their ways.

We are saddled with a leadership who have offended God and man, who have ruined our nation, who have impoverished our people, who are bereft of ideas and who are hell bent on intimidating the opposition and silencing the voice of truth.

I am touched by the words of those that are encouraging those of us that have chosen to take that road of vocal and virile opposition and this is especially so because I have tremendous respect and affection for Ayo Fayose and I consider him to be one of our brightest rising stars in the south west.

His name is Peter, like the Rock in the Holy Bible, and he cannot be shaken. He is a strong man of faith, a trusted and loyal friend and I am proud to be mentioned in the same breath as him.

Yet it is not me that says, writes and does these things that people find so amazing and courageous but rather He that is in me. It is a gift from God and that gift is known as the Holy Spirit.

He gives us foresight, insight, sensitivity, a word for the season and the ability to endure any form of persecution and hardship and still stand strong.

He gives us the ability to cultivate a firm resolve, to think things through clearly, to wait on Him and to have patience.

He also gives us immense courage, especially when under fire. As a matter of fact the more the fire burns, the more the courage rages. This is what is generally referred to as “Christian fury” and it is a deep and inexplicable mystery.

I am sure that I can speak for Fayose on that too because the same applies to him. It is not he that says and does the things that he says and does but the Holy Spirit of the Living God that is in him.

My brother, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state, the Iroko of the Western Region, has the same gift even though he is a little more restrained, tempered and gentle.

He is also a devout and practicing Christian and his sense of maturity, wisdom and civility does not make him any less effective. A consummate and experienced politician and leader: he is truly formidable in all his ways.

If any discerning politician sits with Mimiko for ten minutes or more he will know that the Holy Spirit flows through him like water flows through an estuary or a stream.

He is a profoundly good man: a man of power and strength but he couples it with deep compassion and a sense of equity, decency and fairness that is rarely seen in our shores.

Back to Ayo Fayose and yours truly. In all our adventures there is one difference between the Governor of Ekiti state and I which many fail to appreciate. Under our laws, because he is a serving Governor, he has immunity from arrest and prosecution but I do not.

He has the people of Ekiti state solidly behind him to applaud and support his every word and move but I do not. He has the machinery and power of a whole state government and a State House of Assembly to fight for him but I do not.

He has the friendship and support of all his fellow PDP Governors and the party leadership but I do not. Unlike him my defence is purely spiritual yet that is more than enough to guarantee my safety and well-being. That is more than enough to comfort me and give me strength and victory.

I do not have all the physical and constitutional protection that he has and I don’t need it. I only have God yet. He is more than enough for me. I only have my faith yet that faith continues to move mountains for me.

I only have the Lord’s sure word and promise yet that sure word and promise is worth more than a thousand armies and all the gold, silver and power in the world because it never fails. I only have

His love, His grace, His blessing and His mercy, yet it never falters. I am bold, confident and strong because the Lord is with me.
