The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police
responded Thursday to speculation about two
explosions at the Federal Port Harcourt High Court
by saying that they successfully foiled the arsons'
plans.
They added that there were no explosions on
Thursday morning as speculated.
“There was an unsuccessful attempt to torch
Federal High Court,” the State’s Police
Spokesperson, Muhammed Ahmad, told PREMIUM
TIMES. “It was never an explosion as speculated.
An investigation has in earnest commenced."
Earlier reports from several reputable news
organizations said that bomb blasts went off just
when the court was about to rule on the legality of
elections for certain local government positions.
“I think they were trying to disrupt the result,"
Governor Ezenwo Wike said to Canada Reuters.
"The High Court decided that the election was
illegal."

A large group of suspected well-armed cattle
rustlers Saturday night attacked Cigama and
Kokiya communities of Birnin Magaji local
government area of Zamfara State, killing over 40
residents and injuring many others. The death toll
could rise.
An eyewitness, Malam Sa’idu Bello, told
LEADERSHIP in a phone conversation that heavily
armed cattle rustlers, numbering over 50, besieged
the community at about 3pm on Saturday and
opened fire on anyone in sight.
Bello said the rustlers had on several instances
attempted to attack the village but did could not
because of the daily patrol by the vigilante group in
the area, but they were caught unawares in the
weekend attack due to Ramadan.
The rustlers attacked us at a surprise hour when
many people, including members of the vigilante
groups, were still busy praying in supplication for
blessing from the holy Ramadan month,” he said.
According to him, the village is now deserted as
both men and women had to flee for their safety
because “there is no police or any form of security
(apparatus) to guarantee security of life and
property.”
He further reported that after the bloody attack, the
rustlers stole a large number of cattle and sheep
and easily escaped.
Another eyewitness, Hassan Balarabe, noted that
the community was in serious dilemma as families
had been separated.
“As I am talking to you now, I don’t know the
whereabouts of my father, my seven-year-old child
and my brother, as everyone took to their heels,”
he said, even as he expressed fears that the
number of casualties might raise to a very
alarming figure as dead bodies were still being
recovered from surrounding bushes.
The Zamfara State police public relations officer,
DSP Sanusi Amiru, said the attack occurred in a
very remote area with very difficult terrain, and
said a joint team of policemen and military had
been deployed to track the culprits and also secure
the area.
Amiru declined to give the figure of casualties, but
said details will be released after investigation.

14 people were reportedly killed on the 4th of July 2015 by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The victims, who were travelling from their village, Sho In Riyom Local Government, to Barkin Ladi in order to undertake their Bank Verification Exercise (BVN) before the met their unfortunate death.
The victims, according to one Mr Langs Bulus,has been given a Mass burial,witnessed by the
state Police commissioner Mr Nasir Oki.

Former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, has
appealed for Nigerians to be calm and not to rush
President Buhari in his quest to bring change as
real change he said cannot happen within 30 days.
He warned that rushing the President could result
in the government taking bad decisions that might
be adverse to the Nigerians whereby they may
lose eventually.
The former head of state said the problems
confronting the country are enormous and will take
time to fix. He pleads with Nigerians to give the
leadership some time to tackle the country
problems in a logical manner.
“People want change but as far as the problem of
Nigeria is concerned, you cannot do it in one day
or in one month. It will take time before a lot of
these changes would be done and done
effectively.”
“Let us give Buhari the chance to do things in the
proper way to be able to get a good result. I have
read it in some papers where people question him
that in 30 days nothing has been done. It is
unnecessary” he stressed.

The Zambia National Information
Services (ZANIS), on Wednesday, July 8, reported
that a 10 month old pregnant woman has put to bed pure hair and a little blood.

According to the Luwingu District Medical Officer,
Dr Ernest Mutale, “ the woman, a Ms.
Mwape, was referred to Luwingu District Hospital
from Chikoyi rural health centre after she gave birth
to something that looked like Brazilian hair.”

Prior to a checkup,Ms. Mwape,a mother of 2,said she felt normal because she feels the baby kicking in her womb,Dr Ernest,stated that the medical team felt the woman had a molar pregnancy but checkup results proved otherwise.

As at the time of writing this report, Ms Mwape is said to still be in the hospital awaiting further checkups.

plateau state governor Simon Lalong has dissolved all the 17 local gorvenment chairmen,LGs Legistors & all their political aides. A statement signed by Mr Emmanuel Nanle states that they are disolved with effect from 6/7/2015 (monday the 6 of july 2015) and ordered them to handover to all DPMs. It will be recalled that the governor promised to all the completion of their 2 year tenure before dissolving.

ladies and gentlemen please help me to thank god because those bh boys could have killed me immediately after the twin blast....i was coming back from bukuru and i stoped in terminus and these wierd looking guys boko haram caught me.the started asking me qtns..i saw bottles knives, cutlases,saw,and so on with them as i was answerin their second qtn we started hearing allah ukbar allah ukbar before the will know what is hapening i don mattey.these guys started chasing me trowing bottles,cutlases @ me i outran them all....people i ran from rwang pam street to gada biu fly over before some good nigeria gave me transprt money to come back to my destination....i am still @ shock as i type these story,,abeg make una help me thank God

a twin bomb exploded about 20 mins ago.from reports gathered, it exploded at Angwan Rogo Junction, a popular area inhabited by Muslims and Yan Tire,another Muslim inhabited area.as at the time of writing this report, casualty figures are still sketchy. we will update you soon.

Two explosions on Sunday night occurred in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

A PREMIUM TIMES correspondent reports that the first explosion occurred at Bauchi road, just before the University of Jos main campus, while the second explosion occurred around Yantaya, Nasarawa Gwon area, both in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

The twin explosions occur hours after a suicide bomber killed at least 6 people in a church in Yobe State.
