Health / Can Vitamins Really Help Me Grow Healthy Hair? by sweetiePe(f): 11:45pm On Sep 15, 2013
An important factor most people overlook when they discuss a thinning or hair loss problem is nutrition. The modern diet for most of us is lacking at best. We should supplement our diets with vitamin and mineral supplementation. Even those of us who really watch what we eat, may not be getting enough of the key nutrient necessary for healthy hair growth. Getting proper nutrition is vital to healthy hair growth, while your body needs a variety of nutrients to maintain proper body functions, there are a handful that are key to hair growth and health.

First we need to caution you that when starting a new vitamin regime, consistency is very important. You also need to be patient, it normally takes from 2 to 3 months to see results in your hair's condition. It's also important to check with your doctor before starting a vitamin program, especially if you have health concerns.

Now that we have set a few parameters and made our cautionary statements, let look at some of the more important vitamins when it comes to hair health in no specific order. In an attempt to be as useful as possible we will list the vitamin, any good food sources, and a recommended daily dose for supplementation:

1. Vitamin A - Antioxidant that helps produce healthy sebum in the scalp. Food sources: Fish liver oil, meat, milk, cheese, eggs, spinach, carrots, apricots and peaches. Daily Dose: 5,000 IU.

2. Vitamin C - Antioxidant that helps maintain skin & hair health. Food sources: Citrus fruits, strawberries, pineapple, tomatoes, green peppers, potatoes and dark green vegetables. Daily Dose: 60 mg.

3. Vitamin E - Antioxidant that enhances scalp circulation. Food sources: Cold-pressed vegetable oils, wheat germ oil, soybeans, raw seeds and nuts, dried beans, and leafy green vegetables. Daily dose: Up to 400 IU. Warnings: Can raise blood pressure and reduce blood clotting. People taking high blood pressure medication or anticoagulants should check with their doctors before taking Vitamin E supplements.
4. Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) - Prevents graying and hair loss. Food sources: Whole grain cereals, brewer's yeast, organ meats and egg yolks. Daily dose: 4-7 mg.

5. Vitamin B6 - Prevents hair loss, helps create melanin, which gives hair its color. Food sources: Brewer's yeast, liver, whole grain cereals, vegetables, organ meats and egg yolk. Daily dose: 1.6 mg. Vitamin B12 - Prevents hair loss. Food sources: Chicken, fish, eggs and milk. Daily dose

6. Biotin - Helps produce keratin, may prevent graying and hair loss. Food sources: Brewer's yeast, whole grains, egg yolks, liver, rice and milk. Daily dose: 150-300 mcg.

7. Inositol - Keeps hair follicles healthy at the cellular level. Food sources: Whole grains, brewer's yeast, liver and citrus fruits. Daily Dose: Up to 600 mg.

8. Niacin (Vitamin B3) - Promotes scalp circulation. Food sources: Brewer's yeast, wheat germ, fish, chicken, turkey and meat. Daily dose: 15 mg.

9. Biotin - Helps produce keratin, may prevent graying and hair loss. Food sources: Brewer's yeast, whole grains, egg yolks, liver, rice and milk. Daily dose: 150-300 mcg.

10. Inositol - Keeps hair follicles healthy at the cellular level. Food sources: Whole grains, brewer's yeast, liver and citrus fruits. Daily Dose: Up to 600 mg.

I hope this give you at least a basic understanding of what vitamins can help with hair thinning and or hair loss problems. There are many other products available that can be helpful. There are several prescription drug regimes to try, so take the time to speak with your doctor. There are also many herbal and natural hair growth remedies available without a prescription, we believe strongly that you should also discuss these products with your doctor.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / 'sir Alex Thinks United Have One Of Their Hardest Champions League Draws Ever' - by sweetiePe(f): 11:31pm On Sep 15, 2013
The former Old Trafford boss has warned his successor that the Premier League champions have been handed one of their toughest ever European challenges this season

David Moyes has revealed Sir Alex Ferguson believes Manchester United have been handed one of their toughest Champions League draws ever.

Moyes was appointed Old Trafford boss after Sir Alex’s 26-year reign ended last season and will make his bow in Europe’s elite club competition against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.

United will also face Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Sociedad in Group A, and Moyes says his predecessor has warned him about the difficult challenge ahead.

"After the draw, I phoned Sir Alex to talk about it and he said he thinks it’s one of the hardest draws United have ever had in the Champions League," Moyes said.

"If that’s coming from him, then it must be tough.

"There are some great squads but I do think that on any given day we would fancy our chances. We hope to get those opportunities to prove that we are good enough to beat them.

"I’ve got to make sure we’re in the Champions League this year, next year and the years after, and competing to try to win it."

Sir Alex was in the stands for the first time since stepping down from the hotseat during United’s 2-0 Premier League win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

A first-grade teacher, Ms Brooks, was having trouble with one of her students. The teacher asked, "Harry, what's your problem?"

Harry answered, "I'm too smart for the 1st grade. My sister is in the 3rd grade and I'm smarter than she is! I think I should be in the 3rd grade too!"

Ms. Brooks had enough. She took Harry to the principal's office.

While Harry waited in the outer office, the teacher explained to the principal what the situation was. The principal told Ms. Brooks he would give the boy a test. If he failed to answer any of his questions he was to go back to the 1st grade and behave. She agreed.

Harry was brought in and the conditions were explained to him and he agreed to take the test.

Principal: "What is 3 x 3?"

Harry: "9."

Principal: "What is 6 x 6?"

Harry: "36."

And so it went with every question the principal thought a 3rd grader should know.

The principal looks at Ms. Brooks and tells her, "I think Harry can go to the 3rdgrade."

Ms. Brooks says to the principal, "Let me ask him some questions."

The principal and Harry both agreed.

Ms. Brooks asks, "What does a cow have four of that I have only two of?"

Harry, after a moment: "Legs."

Ms Brooks: "What is in your pants that you have but I do not have?"

The principal wondered why would she ask such a question!

Harry replied: "Pockets."

Ms. Brooks: "What does a dog do that a man steps into?"

Harry: "Pants."

The principal sat forward with his mouth hanging open.

Ms. Brooks: "What goes in hard and pink then comes out soft and sticky?"

The principal's eyes opened really wide and before he could stop the answer, Harry replied, "Bubble gum."

Ms. Brooks: "What does a man do standing up, a woman does sitting down and a dog does on three legs?"

Harry: "Shake hands."

The principal was trembling.

Ms. Brooks: "What word starts with an 'F' and ends in 'K' that means a lot of heat and excitement?"

Harry: "Firetruck."

The principal breathed a sigh of relief and told the
teacher, "Put Harry in the fifth-grade, I got the last six questions wrong... "

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / The Sweeper: Bale Agents Bag Stunning €12m From Real Madrid by sweetiePe(f): 12:32pm On Sep 15, 2013
The management group that secured the Welshman's €100 million move to the Spanish capital have themselves earned a staggering nine-figure sum through his signing-on fee and salary

£10 MILLION PAY OFF FOR INFLUENTIAL BALE AGENTS

Gareth Bale joined a small elite of mega-rich sportsmen when he completed his world-record €100 million transfer to Real Madrid earlier this month.

But a sizeable portion of the 24-year-old’s monstrous €358,000-a-week wages will go to the management firm who made the deal happen.

The Sweeper has learned that the Stellar Group earned €12m from the move as part of the contract the company signed with Real Madrid back in May to facilitate the transfer.

It is understood that the two parties negotiated a ‘duality agreement’, a typical contract in marquee transfers, with the buying club paying roughly half of the agents’ costs and the player himself the remaining 50 per cent out through his signing-on fee and salary.

Having signed a six-year contract worth €111m over the entirety of the agreement, Bale will have to hand over around five per cent to Stellar Group, who have offices in Britain, Africa and South America and represent 500 sportsmen and women from across the globe.

The principal negotiators in the deal were Stellar chairman Jonathan Barnett and David Manasseh, who has been Bale’s agent since he was 16.

Another Stellar employee who is almost a permanent fixture at Bale’s side is his minder and fixer Joshua Barnett, son of Jonathan, who has also moved to Madrid on a permanent basis, where he will live close to the player, his girlfriend Emma and daughter Alba Violet.

The timing of the deal, which Barnett senior, 63, claimed “was the most rewarding one I have had the pleasure of negotiating” is particularly welcome for Stellar, who are known to spare no expenses when it comes to doing business, with a private jet on stand-by for their blue-chip clients.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Cristiano Ronaldo Agrees New Contract by sweetiePe(f): 12:21pm On Sep 15, 2013
Cristiano Ronaldo has officially agreed a new contract with Real Madrid.

Ronaldo and club president Florentino Perez will appear in the Royal Box at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday afternoon at 1.45pm local time, the club announced on its official website. He is to commit his future to the club until 2018.

Marca reports that the 28-year-old will eclipse Barcelona star Lionel Messi as the highest earner in Spanish football, with a new salary of €17 million a year for the next five seasons. Messi is reported to earn a fixed €13 million plus an extra €3 million in incentives.

Ronaldo, who had two years remaining on his previous deal, had been linked with a move away from Madrid in the summer, with the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain reported to have shown interest.

The Portugal international had scored for Madrid in their 2-2 draw with Villarreal on Saturday, with debutant Gareth Bale having netted the first.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / 'I Don't Think Bale Will Make It At Real Madrid' by sweetiePe(f): 9:13am On Sep 14, 2013
'I don't think Bale will make it at Real Madrid'
Gareth Bale will struggle to live up to his world-record fee and succeed at Real Madrid, according to former Germany coach Berti Vogts.

The Wales international joined the Liga giants for €100 million shortly before the close of the summer transfer window, and is set to make his eagerly-anticipated debut against Villarreal this weekend.

Vogts, however, is not convinced the 24-year-old will become a hit at Santiago Bernabeu.

"Bale is not an absolute world class player," he told Sky Sports News.

"I know him and I’m very surprised about this transfer fee. Now he has to prove himself.

"I do not think he will make it at Real Madrid.”

The current Azerbaijan boss was quick to praise Arsene Wenger, however, following Arsenal's €50m deadline-day move for Mesut Ozil.

He added: "Congratulations to Arsene Wenger. Mesut Ozil is the type of player that Arsenal have been waiting for."

Career / Simple Steps For Setting And Achieving Your Goals by sweetiePe(f): 9:02am On Sep 14, 2013
The number one reason some people get more work done faster is because they are absolutely clear about their goals and objectives and they don't deviate from them. A major reason for procrastination and lack of motivation is vagueness, confusion, and fuzzy-mindedness about what you've supposed to do and in what order and for what reason. You must avoid this common condition with all your strength by striving for greater clarity in everything you do.

Here is a great rule for success: Think on paper.
Only about 3% of adults have clear, written goals. These people accomplish five and ten times as much as people of equal or better education and ability but who have never taken the time to write out exactly what it is they want. There's a powerful formula for setting and achieving goals that you can use for the rest of your life. It consists of seven simple steps. Taking any one of these steps can double or triple your productivity if you're not currently using it. Many graduates of my training programs have increased their incomes dramatically in a matter of a few years, or even a few months, with this simple, seven-step method.

Step 1: Decide exactly what you want. It's amazing how many people are working away, day after day, on low-value tasks because they've not decided what they want.

Step 2: Write it down. Think on paper. When you write down your goal, you crystallize it and give it tangible form. You create something that you can touch and see. On the other hand, a goal or objective that's not in writing is merely a wish or fantasy. It has no energy behind it. Unwritten goals lead to confusion, vagueness, misdirection and numerous mistakes.

Step 3: Set a deadline with your goal. A goal or decision without a deadline has no urgency. It has no real beginning or end. Without a definite deadline, you'll naturally procrastinate and get little done.

Step 4: Make a list of everything you can think of that you're going to have to do to achieve your goal. As you think of new activities, add them to your list. Keep building your list until it is complete. A list gives you a visual picture of the larger objective. It dramatically increases the likelihood that you'll achieve your goals as you have defined it and on schedule.

Step 5: Organize your list into a plan. Organize your list by priority and sequence. Take a few minutes to decide what you need to do first and what you can do later. Even better, lay out your plan visually, in the form of a series of boxes and circles on a sheet of paper. You'll be amazed at how much easier it is to achieve your goal when you break it down into individual tasks. With a written goal and an organized plan of action, you'll be far more productive than someone who's carrying his goals in his mind.

Step 6: Take action on your plan immediately. An average plan vigorously executed is far better than a brilliant plan on which nothing is done. For you to achieve any kind of success, execution is everything.

Step 7: Resolve to do something every single day that moves you toward your major goal. Read a specific number of pages on a key subject. Call on a specific number of prospects or customers. Engage in a specific period of physical exercise. Learn a certain number of new words in a foreign language. Never miss a day. Keep pushing forward. Once you start moving, keep moving. Don't stop. This decision, this discipline alone, can make you one of the most productive and successful people of your generation.

Clear written goals have a wonderful effect on your thinking. They motivate you and galvanize you into action. Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement. The bigger your goals and the clearer they are, the more excited you become about achieving your goals, the greater becomes your inner drive and desire to accomplish them.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Mesut Ozil Can Be Arsenal's Creative Kingpin by sweetiePe(f): 12:40pm On Sep 12, 2013
Before the transfer window opened, Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis spoke of the impressive war chest that Arsene Wenger had at his disposal this summer. Fans rubbed their hands with glee at the prospect of seeing a number of big-name arrivals at Emirates Stadium, only to see north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur steal the limelight having broken their transfer record on three separate occasions to bring in Paulinho, Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela.

Arsenal in comparison had signed just Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Flamini, both on free transfers. As the deadline loomed, supporters became tetchy at the lack of movement. Then, in the aftermath of the 1-0 win over Spurs on September 1, Wenger spoke in his post-match interview of a "surprise" signing, claiming he was "confident" the move would go through before the 11pm BST deadline on September 2.

Rumours were rife as to who the mystery signing could be, with Real Madrid’s Mesut Ozil the favourite to make the switch to the capital. A pivotal member of Los Blancos’ starting XI, many were of the opinion that talk was more smoke without fire. Yet, on the back of Gareth Bale’s record-breaking move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, reports of Ozil departing the Spanish capital began to pick up pace.

Then, 30 minutes before the transfer window shut, Arsenal confirmed Ozil had signed in a deal worth £42.5 million, making the midfielder the most expensive German player in the history of the game. Fans were understandably excited by the announcement, with the vast majority taking to Twitter to express their delight at the capture of the playmaker.

Here, WhoScored.com look to the stats to suggest why the Gunners faithful are right to be delighted.

After moving from Werder Bremen to Spain in 2010, Ozil was a consistent performer for Real, both domestically and on the continent. That he accumulated 47 league assists between his arrival in Spain and his departure -- no player accrued more -- denotes his exceptional creative ability.

She scowled, “Look… I don’t know what kind of a namby-pamby place you worked before, but I don’t call anyone by their first name. It breeds familiarity and that leads to a breakdown in authority. I refer to my employees by their last name only … Smith, Jones, Baker … that’s all. I am to be referred to only as Mrs. Robertson. Romance / What Is Love? by sweetiePe(f): 6:51pm On Sep 11, 2013
After successful first and subsequent dates with someone we really like, we accept with all willingness and excitement to be in a relationship with them. As we interact more and more with them, our feelings of joy, excitement, physical attraction and a wonderful sense of arousal also grows. The feelings we have for them can get overwhelming and even magical a times. We acquire this strong urge to fulfill and be fulfilled by our object of affection. Everyone seeing us say we are in love and we feel so ourselves too. This is because from childhood up to our adulthood we have stored loads of images in our minds from around us (much of it fed us by the media) about what love should feel and look like. We have received these strong images of happy, moon struck and ecstatic couples right into our subconscious minds. These images give us reinforcement that love is something you feel and so what we ourselves are feeling must be love.

There is this wide spread believes among singles that the moment they find the “one” they will know it right away. It is supposed to be a gut feeling. We see this played out all the time on television, we watch it happen in movies, we read it in novels and magazines etc we are convinced about this feeling we call love. At least until things go terribly wrong and this happens often. When unforeseen events rock our love boat and maybe threaten the way we feel or think we feel we finally begin to think. When the initial euphoria of emotional excitement and physical attraction starts to diminish, begin to fade or even wears off altogether, we finally begin to question our believes about love. According to Erich Fromm in his famous treatise “The Art of Loving”, “There is hardly any activity, any enterprise, which is started with such tremendous hopes and expectations, and yet which fails so regularly as love”.

And why is that the case?

Gila Minolson answers that it is because many people believe love is a sensation (based on physical and emotional attraction) that magically appears when Mr and Ms Right appears and just as easily it can spontaneously degenerate when the “magic just isn’t there anymore”.

So what is love – real, lasting love?

Is it a feeling we have? Are we mistaken to think it is a feeling? Is it myth or is it reality? If it is not a feeling, what is it?

In my opinion it is difficult to capture the meaning of love in a single definition or statement because there are as many meanings and descriptions for love as are the number of people giving them. But according to Sheryl Paul M.A, love is action. She has counseled thousands of people through her bestselling books, her home study programs and websites. She says “love is learning your partner’s love language and then expressing love in a way that he can receive”. This is not just feeling something for him as we can see but acting on it. To her love is a set of actions we commit to doing with and for our partner. Sounds boring right? It is because we have been programmed to think love must be all excitement all the way. The truth be told, it is unreasonable to expect that in a relationship.

It is ironical that it is only when that familiar sensations we call love is not there and we still keep performing these acts that I call acts of love that we can say, we really love someone. What do I mean by acts of love? I mean when we act lovingly despite the fact that we don’t feel loving. When we still give, when receive from, listen to, attend to and still show affection to our mate etc without depending on the way we feel or are feeling at that moment. That is love. Understanding this fact shows readiness for a successful loving long term relationship. The truth be told, you do not feel loving all the time in a long term relationship. Sometimes you don’t feel loving at all.

Certain qualities help a relationship more than the strong feelings of excitement and attraction we traditionally associate with being in love. Showing optimism, maturity, empathy, generosity, tolerance etc all constitute acts of love. They build up the relationship and cement it concretely. The feeling of being in love fades or diminishes with the passage of time in many if not all relationships and cannot be a good measure for Love or being in Love.

Clarity about love helps you know what to expect, how to give and what to hope to receive in a relationship. How to love and be loved. Something richer and more sustaining can be made to exist in or relationships if we look beyond the first feelings of attractiveness etc. We grow together with our partner in love when learn together with them lessons of tolerance, forgiveness, patience, empathy etc. When the intoxicating drug of infatuation and great physical chemistry wear off, is really when the real work of love and loving can be said to really start. So don’t jump ship at the first signs of trouble in your love boat, hang in there and help prevent a ship wreck. That is when you can say you love someone.
Thanks for reading!

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Wayne Rooney Hoping For Derby Return by sweetiePe(f): 6:18pm On Sep 11, 2013
Manchester United are waiting to discover whether Wayne Rooney will be back for the Manchester derby.

The England international is out with a severely gashed forehead, suffered when he was caught by team-mate Phil Jones’ boot in training, and is likely to miss Saturday’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace.

However, manager David Moyes said after the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool that he expected the striker to be out for three weeks and the trip to Manchester City falls exactly 21 days after the game at Anfield.

Rooney will reportedly return to training at the end of this week with the intention of facing City, if his wound has healed enough to allow him to head the ball.

• Payne: United's international centurions

The 27-year-old posted a picture of himself on his Facebook page, showing how deep the cut was, after being criticised for missing England’s World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.

He said then: “Some people seem to be questioning my commitment and the fact I had to pull out of the two games. I’m sure people will see the reason why I won’t be able to play. There’s nothing I would like more than to be helping the lads in the qualifiers.”

United will also find out whether either of their two premier right-backs will be available to take on newly promoted Palace.

Rafael da Silva has been out since the Community Shield win over Wigan with a hamstring injury but is likely to return to training this week, while Jones suffered an ankle problem in the loss to Liverpool.

If both are out, Moyes faces a decision whether to pick Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling or Fabio da Silva.
