Obafemi Awolowo said that if the Igbos should secede the Yorubas would follow suit.
This got me thinking recently.
So the destiny of the Yorubas having their own country depends on weather the Igbos remained in Nigeria or left?
Awolowo's statement clearly meant that the destiny of the Yorubas lie in the hands of the Igbos.
No wonder Yorubas are found running around any thread involving Igbos and self determination. |

Also please urge ur people to leave other parts of Nigeria in their millions and move back to ur landlocked Ugu republic, where there is no productivity, no wonder ur people always run away from that region and enter either the south south or south west, ur region is a wasteland, there nothing the south east will do that can hurt Nigeria, u will simply hurt ur self and ur people. Lol We will also take back our oil producing lands fraudulently taken from us and added into present day Rivers state in 1976.

Crime › RAPE: Man, 28, Tears Up 2-yr-old Girl’s Private Part by Sweetle(op): 2:55pm On Sep 29, 2016 |
By Ebere Aham, LAGOS—Doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja, are battling to save the life of a two-year-old girl, who was raped by a 28-year-old tailor, called Itua, in Oshodi area of Lagos. Mother of the baby, Mrs. Ajibade, was reportedly going out with the baby, but left her to urinate behind their 1, Masako Street residence, only to return to find that her daughter had vanished. The suspect, a tailor whose shop was located opposite Ajibade’s home denied seeing the baby, when asked. However, the toddler’s mother told Vanguard: “My baby later came to me crying, pointing at her private part and, at the same time, calling ‘Itua,’ ‘Itua’. “I checked her private part and discovered that her pant was blood-stained. When I asked Itua what he did to my daughter, he said nothing. He admitted that my daughter came to meet him in his shop, but that he drove her out to go and meet me. “At that point, I started shouting at the top of my voice, until people gathered. A mob gathered and apprehended him.” When Vanguard visited the area yesterday, the suspect’s shop was under lock and key. Other apprentice were said to have fled for fear of being arrested. A resident, who simply gave his name as Matthew, said: “This is not the first time. He has been caught several times, but would beg to be freed. This is the first time he has been taken to the police. Policemen from Akinpelu Division took him away.” ‘I only fingered her’ During interrogation, Itua, an Esan man, from Edo State, said: “I didn’t put my manhood in her. I only fingered her. It was the devil’s handwork.” The Child Protection Network Coordinator, Mirabel Centre, at LASUTH, Mr. Ebenezer Omejalile, described the incident as the worst case ever received at the centre. He said: “The girl was in a pool of blood, with her private part very expanded. It is not easy patching her up. The girl is still there receiving treatment.” Relatives of the suspect appealed to the family of the baby to withdraw the case from the police station, but Vanguard gathered that the Centre refused, saying rape was a case against the government and justice must be done. OrlandoOwoh: No. The oil was in the new Rivers State, which was created on May 27, 1967, some weeks before the Civil War started. Nonsense. What sort of Head of State would be creating states in the midst of widespread killings of easterners in the north? As at that time, law and order had broken down and Gowon himself knew he was no longer in control of the east. |

Both sides fought for the oil in the Niger delta. Ojukwu declared Biafra when Igbos were being massacred in the north, not because of oil. |

The centra point of his utterances has always been to keep the nation as one entity. The truth has spoken! Unity should not be by force but by persuation. bejeiodus: He truly gave his youth to the nation. He and other officers risked their lives defending the unity of Nigeria. It is quite understandable why he told the youth corps members from the East to forget about Biafra. But as one of those who took active part in the war, he should desist from actions and utterances that make people from that part nostalgic for the defunct country. He should also etch his name on every heart by restructuring the country to allow for an enduring peace in Nigeria. Nigeria will continue to be haunted by the spectre of civil war as long as injustice remains. Stop deceiving people here. Even Benjamin Adekunle confessed that the fought because of oil and nothing more.

Politics › Boko Haram & Soldiers Clash In Fatori: Islamic Extremists Say They Killed 40 by Sweetle(op): 10:58am On Sep 21, 2016 |
Islamic extremists says they killed more than 40 Nigerian troopsLAGOS, Nigeria Islamic extremists said Tuesday they killed more than 40 troops from a multinational force in an attack on a convoy in northeast Nigeria - the fourth attack in three days following a lull as Nigeria’s home-grown insurgency confronts a leadership struggle.
Analysts are warning that the struggle could lead to more violent attacks that will kill more people in a 7-year-old Islamic uprising started by Boko Haram that has killed more than 20,000 people, forced 2.6 million from their homes and spread to neighboring states.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) West Africa Province annihilated “a convoy of the African Coalition Crusader forces” in the town of Malam Fatori, the SITE Intelligence Group reported, translating an ISIS communique posted on social media. There was no way to independently verify the claim and no word from Nigeria’s military late Tuesday night.
Eighteen people were killed Sunday and Monday when insurgents ambushed another convoy, gunned down Christians leaving a Sunday church service and beheaded a village head and his son.
No one has claimed responsibility for the earlier attacks.
Tuesday’s was the first Nigeria attack claimed by ISIS since August, when it named a new caliph in Nigeria and provoked a struggle with the longtime leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau.
Shekau pledged Boko Haram’s allegiance to the ISIS in 2015, giving it its first sub-Saharan franchise. ISIS said it replaced Shekau in August, in a dispute that revolved around his indiscriminate killings of Muslims.
Many more Muslims than Christians have been killed in attacks targeting mosques, churches, marketplaces and schools.
Tuesday’s ISIS communique did not say when the convoy was attacked but claimed it “resulted in killing more than forty and wounding dozens” of troops from Nigeria and neighboring countries. The multi-national force is also battling Nigeria’s home-grown Islamic insurgents who have spread their extremist uprising to Chad, Cameroon and Niger.
Analysts from IHS Jane’s Terrorism and Insurgency Centre warned the recent lull and drop in fatalities likely will be followed by increased cross-border attacks.
In the leadership struggle, Shekau has reverted to the old name for his group, Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, meaning “People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophet’s Teachings and Jihad.” They are commonly called Boko Haram, a nickname that means “Western education is forbidden or evil.” http://www.cbsnews.com/news/islamic-states-west-africa-province-kills-more-40-nigerian-troops/
