EriMma1: This may sound weird but it's my situation now.
I have been a single and independent lady for a very long time. Though I really looked forward to settling down in my 20s and thirties but because I was the over careful type, I couldn't as I kept being picky due to men's character and behavior.
Fast-forward to my lat 30s, I began to lose interest and started getting more comfortable as a single. The upheavals in today's marriage also got to me. As in the way marriages are packing up, the cheating aspect, abuse and domestic violence in marriages all further affected me and changed my whole perception of the union called marriage. So I unconsciously resolved to remain single as long as I'm happy, comfortable and financially independent.
Some of the reasons I also made up my mind are. As a single, Im very much at peace, with no one dictating what and when I should do things or get out of bed. I love my bed. No one is body shaming me when I add on some pounds due to excessive eating and no one is questioning my eating habits as its sometimes the case with some married women. Also running errands when you don't feel up to it just because hubby wants you to do it. Some men can send their wife on errand like crazy and me I hate running errands.
No one is disturbing me when I need time alone which could last for hours. I love my space and privacy. So the thought of having to give up all that scares the hell out of me.
Now, back to the matter.
Recently, some close spiritual leaders in my denomination have been trying to match make me with a single pastor and that one too is shining teeth that he has seen a jimjim sister. When they now openly mentioned it yesterday with the said man around and he too was nodding and agreeing to the proposal, it dawned on me that these people are not joking. When I got home, i sank into my comfy space and began to fret. I mean... The thought of giving up all that freedom is just so scary. I suddenly discovered that marriage no longer excites me and my inner self was fighting it. Also, the thought of carrying pregnancy for nine months with all the stress of looking after babies, tending toddlers ( poo poo) and that motherhood life made me sick instantly. The thought of joggling my job with family life gave me the chills. I see how my married mates struggle with this. Huh. Men...
I don't know. I don't feel cool about this cos it makes me feel like I'm about to be put in a cage and everything about me is going to change.
Now, before you talk about me not loving the man, I think I fancy him and can love him cos he looks so much like my ex of years ago. So that is out of the question. He is a happening lovable man but....... I no longer feel excited about marriage. at least, from what played out yesterday.
Do I need any form of therapy cos my family won't hear of it but this is my situation now ooo... Hmmm
Your life , your story, your problem, am sure you are in your 40s, menopause is fast approaching , hope it won’t be too late before you make up your mind.

1). Who was the first person to engage in the act of POLYGAMY according to the Bible?
2). Is POLYGAMY a sin in the Bible?
3). Did God in the Bible condemn POLYGAMY?
4). Those that according to the Bible engaged in POLYGAMY, are they in Hell?
5). What is the fate of the polygamous Children according to the Bible?
6). Is marriage a traditional act or religious act?
7). Why do Christians condemn POLYGAMY?
8. What are the effects of POLYGAMY in Christiandom?

GEAR 2 Godly/Holy persons that engaged in POLYGAMY according to the Bible included Abdon, Judges 12:13-14; Abijah, 2 Chronicles 13-21; Abraham, Gen 16-1-3, Gen 25:1; Ahab, 1 kings 20:1-3; Ahaseurus, Esther 1:9, Ashur, 1 Chronicles 4:5, Belshazzar, Daniel 5:2, Ben-Hadad (who married Ahab's wives), Caleb, 1 Chronicles 2:18-19, David (had 8wives), 1 Samuel 18:27, 25:39, 25:42, 2 Samuel 3:5, 5:13, 12:7-8, 12:24. Eliphaz, Gen 36:11-12. Elkanah, 1 Samuel 1:1-2 Esau, Gen 26:34 Ezra, 4:17-18; Gideon, Judges 8:30....and many more.
We had not fewer than 40 Godly and ungodly men that engaged in POLYGAMY from the Bible. Also, we had not less than 43 POLYGAMY cases from the Bible.
GEAR 3 Had God condemned POLYGAMY? No! God NEVER did In all the POLYGAMY cases mentioned in the Bible, God did not condemn any axcept David who snatched Uriah's wife. God said to David ' in 2 Samuel 12:8; I gave your master's house to you, and your master's wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more." Why did God himself say so to David?
GEAR 4 Is POLYGAMY a sin? Those that engage in POLYGAMY are they in hell? Is Abraham in hell? (Luke 16:19-31) Is Jacob in hell? Is David, Solomon, Elkanah, Ezra.....@all, in hell?
GEAR 5 Does God permit POLYGAMY? The answer of course is Yes! In Genesis 21:10, God said If he (man) marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing and marital rights. In 2 Samuel 12:8. God Himself said to David ,"...I gave you your master Wives,. if you need more, I would have given you"
GEAR 6 What is the fate of the polygamous children? Condemned or Favoured? Why was Joseph, Samuel, Solomon.... Highly favoured?

The issue of Monogamy was purely the tradition of the western world whom were our religious colonial masters. In the land of the White, traditionally, rivalry is a taboo. But the Jews (Israelites) and the Edomites (the blacks) shares the same tradition. A widow is not allowed to be seen in the Street, but be remarried to their husbands relatives or friends, Gen 38.
GEAR 8 Why do Christians and the west now condemn the act of POLYGAMY? The new testament may completely be the reason as it has responded almost seamlessly on POLYGAMY matters. The new testament talks about every aspect of Christian living except POLYGAMY. Mathew 19:3-9, Jesus spoke about God initial plan for man. He actually condemned divorce but did not mention POLYGAMY. Paul admonishment to Timothy on the act and how to elect Church leadership, just like the case of levites of old (Moses...), 1 Timothy 3. The point of contention here is, If there were no men with more than a wife in the Church, Paul Won't have mentioned it. Also in 1 Corinthians 7:39.
GEAR 9 Effects of POLYGAMY: POLYGAMY has it merits and demerits in the society and Christiandom at large.
1). In the Society, the imMortality rate is high in the female folks compared to men. The number of girls birth rate is higher than that of men, and the number of men dead rate is higher than that of women. The number of widows keep increasing geometry adding up to the number of single women in the society. This leads to increase of infidelity, adultery, fornication in the society compared to the days of our forefathers. So pathetic nowadays to see young single girls fighting with widows and women old to be their mum for the ownerships of a guy.
2). MONOGAMY has caused reduction in the population in the Christiandom. God says in Gen 1:28 'God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground'. But what do we have today? Christians going into family planning. The Israelites lived 430yrs only in Egypt, but Pharaoh became scared because of their rapid growth in population. I can't imagine that would happen if they were practicing Family planning Monogamy
3). There's increase in population of the youth. Very soon Our children, particularly daughters (that we are trying to protect today) will be used as sex slaves because monogamy would have denied them an opportunity to marry. C.) There are millions of stranded women in the South and, may not likely get an husband forever because of argument against polygamy; whereas hardly can a women be stranded in the North; thanks to polygamy..
GEAR 10 Has God Changed? God of Adam, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, .....the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, is the beginning and the end, the Alfa and Omega, He is the same yesterday, today and for ever; has not changed.
CONCLUSION What is the way out? Christians don't be "Paul when he was Saul'
Pastors, be careful what you preach on the pulpit about POLYGAMY as what you preach, instead of becoming light, rather, it is destroying Christianity
