Authorities in the southern Indian state of Kerala Monday ordered a probe into allegations that an 18-year-old student was forced to remove her bra at an exam centre as part of stringent measures to stop cheating in a national-level medical entrance examination.

The alleged incident took place at TISK English Medium School in the state’s Kannur district Sunday, when hundreds of students went to appear for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test for admissions to undergraduate medical courses across the country.

“My daughter went inside the centre only to return a few minutes later to hand over her bra.

“As she entered the centre, the metal detector at the gate beeped due to the metal strap of the bra. She was told to remove the innerwear for security, to prevent cheating,” her mother told the media.

“Many others were forced to undergo the same ordeal,” she added.

Kannur’s District Collector M.M. Ali said that he would look into the allegations. “I have heard about the allegations.

“We will look into the matter,” he said.

State Human Rights Commission has condemned the incident and also sought a report from the district authorities.

“We have asked the authorities there to submit a report into the serious allegations,” commission member J. Premeela Devi told the media.

However, the principal of the school, where the examination was held in the district, Jalaluddin K. said: “We have clear instructions that if the metal detector beeps, no one can be allowed inside.

“Whenever it beeped, we told students to remove what they have.”

The first plastic bottle house in the whole of West Africa has been unveiled in Nigeria by a group called the Developmental Association for Renewable Energy.

A group, Developmental Association for Renewable Energy in Nigeria (DARE), said it has constructed the first plastic bottle house in West Africa
The Chief Executive Officer of the group, Mr Yahaya Ahmed made the disclosure when he conducted newsmen round the house, located at Yelwa village on Kaduna-Zaria highway.
Ahmed said the house was made from plastic bottles as part of the group’s efforts to encourage recycling of waste materials in the country, create jobs and ensure safer environment.
According to him, a plastic bottle house is 20 times stronger than brick walls.

“A plastic bottle house can last for more than 200 years if constructed properly and carefully and is fireproof, bulletproof, earthquake resistant and can adapt to all kind of climate changes.”

“The plastic bottle house can be constructed anywhere, even on water if a good and adequate foundation is prepared beforehand.”
Ahmed explained that such house can be constructed using thousands of recycled plastic bottles “which are filled with sand, sand, cement and mud.”
”This is the first of its kind in Nigeria. We have trained many students and youths who are actually displaying the talent of what they learnt at the centre in other places in Northern Nigeria.



“We are proud with what they are doing, as all these contribute in reducing the large number of waste plastics on our streets and refuse dumps.
“Indeed, recycling of waste plastics is one of the best technologies to avoid environmental air pollution plastics,”he added.
Ahmed said the group would partner government and other organisations to bring in new ways of recycling waste in the country.
“We must join hands in tackling all the challenges disturbing our environment, and we must support government to bring an end to deforestation and pollution, so as to save our country from climate change,”he said.

The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has claimed that Lagos State is not part of Yoruba land, according to a report by Daily Post.

Daily Post reported that the Oba made the statement from his palace while tracing the historical background of the state and why it should not be regarded as part of Yoruba land.

This comes after heated debate on social media following the release of a video showing the Oba disgracing the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi at an event.

The statement reads: “Coming from the palace, with what I was told by my late paternal grandmother who is a descendant of Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi and also reading from factual Historical books, let me share this Knowledge with you all on Eko/Lagos.

“Modern day Lagos was founded by Prince Ado, the son of the Oba of Benin, Prince Ado was the first Oba of Lagos, the son of the Bini King, Prince Ado, named the town Eko until the Portuguese explorer Ruy de Segueira changed the Maritime town to Lagos, which at that time from 1942 was Portuguese expedition center down the African Coast.

“It was a major centre of the slave trade until 1851. Lagos was annexed by Britain via the Lagos treaty of cession in 1861, ending the consular period and starting the British Colonial Period. The remainder of modern day Nigeria was seized in 1886 when the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria was established in 1914 Lagos was declared its capital due to the struggle of the Bini King.

“Lagos experienced growth prior to the British Colonial rule and even more rapid growth during the Colonial rule throughout the 1960s, 70s, continued through the 80s and 90s till date. Thanks to the Awori’s, Bini’s, Yoruba’s, migrants across the nation and world at large, as no particular group of people can take the glory alone.

“Lagos is made up of Lagoons and creeks. The Lagos lagoon, Lagos Harbour, five cowne creeks, Ebute-Metta creeks, Porto-Novo creeks, New canal, Badagry creeks, Kuramo waters and Light house creeks.”

Jaylene Cook, a 25-year-old Playboy model has upset locals after she posed n*ked on a sacred Maori mountain in New Zealand.
According to The Sun UK, Jaylene Cook decided to strip off for a photo to feel “freedom and empowerment” after a 12-hour hike to the top of Mount Taranaki on Wednesday.

Her photographer boyfriend Josh Shaw, 27, took the snap showing the playmate wearing just her trainers, gloves and a hat as she admired the view.
Jaylene posted the picture to her 295,000 Instagram followers with the words: “This climb has forever changed me. I proved just how far I could push myself and I am truly proud of my accomplishment.

“This mountain was steep, rugged, ever changing and just pure brutal! Safe to say, I will never do it again.”
But residents have branded the picture, which has clocked up nearly 10,000 likes as "disrespectful" and "inappropriate".

Maori academic Dennis Ngawhare told Stuff.co.nz: "I'd imagine you will be getting a few comments from people saying, 'What's wrong with that? Who cares?' But I also know cousins and relatives who will be quite upset about it. They would consider it as being disrespectful towards the mountain."

Mr Ngawhare said his family has never climbed the mountain because they regard it as the tribe's ancestor.
He added: "I accept people climb up to the summit, but what we do ask is that people be respectful."
"It's culturally insensitive and not what I would expect someone to do on the summit of Mt Taranaki."
Jaylene, who lives with Josh on the Gold Coast in Australia, said she didn't think the photo would offend anyone.

She said they did their research before hiking to the top and didn't stand on the head of the mountain.
The glamour model said: "[The photo's] not crude or explicit in any way. We made ourselves knowledgeable on the history of the mountain. We were quite respectful.

"Being nude is not something that is offensive in any way. It's natural and pure and it's about freedom and empowerment."
Jaylene was given the title of Playmate after she was featured in Playboy Mexico in January.

She is touring around New Zealand with her boyfriend who took the nude photo.
Other tourists who posed nude on their travels include Instagram star Magdalena Wosinska from Poland who has racked up 121,000 followers on her Instagram page, thanks to shots of herself without clothes next to waterfalls, mountains and even planes.

A corps member serving in Zamfara, Fidelis Chalokwo, has been declared wanted by the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, over N30m school fees fraud​.​

​It was gathered that ​940 students of the institution risked being stopped from sitting for their second semester examination.

The affected students were considered ineligible by the bursary department of the university to sit for the examination because they had reportedly not paid their school fees.

​The schools’ ​Students Union on Tuesday, ​said ​preliminary investigations into the N30m school fees fraud ​revealed that​ Chalokwo, a former student of the university, ​allegedly​ executed​ 70 per cent of the fraud.

“More than 70 per cent of the students swindled of their school fees said they paid to Fidelis Chalokwo, who is now performing his NYSC programme in Zamfara,” said Abubakar Lawan, the SUG Vice-President.

He added that Chalokwo who was wanted to account for his crime, claimed he had left the country.

Dean, Student Affairs, MAUTECH, Yola, Dr. Haruna Lawan, ​confirmed the situation.

​He noted​ that most of the students, instead of using their Automated Teller Machine​, ATM, ​cards to make the payments, gave cash to online vendors who turned out to be fraudsters.

​Lawan​ said the least of the school fees involved was N30,700, while other victims of the scams paid as much as N37,800 in school fees which never hit the school account.

​The official said the matter has been reported to the Police.​

An unfortunate criminal has met his untimely death in the hands of an irate crowd after he was caught stealing from a house.
A 26-year-old taxi driver only identified as Kwame was on Thursday afternoon lynched at Wassa Akropong in the Amenfi East District of the Western region on suspicion of theft, MyNewsGh.

According to the report, the dead thief was reported to have broken into the room of a resident through the window and made away with his phones, cash and other valuables.

Luck however eluded him when he tried leaving the room of his second victim in another house where he broken into and stole a number of mobile phones, watches and some necklaces.

He was spotted by some youth who flagged him to stop but he took off and was given a hot chase by the youth who accosted him close to the Wassa Akronpong District Court with the assistance of some other persons in view of the fact it was a market day in the area.

Obeng Mframa, a local journalist in the area disclosed that he was without interrogation subjected to severe beatings by the angry youth who retrieved the stolen items from him.

Not satisfied with what was meted out to the suspect, they stripped him naked and kept pummeling him with various offensive weapons until he lay unconscious with no effort by onlookers to rush him to any health facility in order to resuscitate him.

“The police came for him at about 6Pm by which time he was already dead”, he said.

A Seventh Day Adventist Church pastor has met a cruel end after he tried to escape from armed robbers who stopped him along the road.
The head pastor of Effiduase Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church and Assistant Headmaster Administration of Okomfo Anokye Senior High School in the Ashanti Region of Ghana was on Saturday afternoon shot dead by armed robbers, MyNewsGH.

The 53-year-old Pastor James Agyei who is also a national executive of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) was killed between Abuaboja and Abubenso communities in the Afigya Kwabre district on his way for pastoral duties.

According to residents, he reportedly bumped into the robbers who flagged him to stop but realizing their intent, he tried speeding off but they shot him at close range killing him on the spot

They made away with two of his mobile phones and some unspecified cash on realizing that other travelers were approaching the scene of the incident.

Pastor James Agyei was driving in a white Benz with registration number of WR 8808 A. The body has since been deposited at Offinso St Patrick Hospital while police have launched a manhunt for the robbers.

Darlene began her studies in TSU campus in 1962, however, almost immediately, she fell in love with fellow student John Mullins, a senior from East St. Louis, Illinois, who she described as dashing, handsome and “everything to behold". They got married and she had to quit her education to focus on her new family while John stayed on and graduated in 1964. In putting her education aside, she also had to give up on her dream of becoming an Olympic track star.

"I came to TSU because I ran track. I wanted to go to the 1964 Olympics," Darlene said. "Wilma Rudolph was my idol and I was on my way. I get to TSU and meet the great coach (Ed) Temple, but we bumped heads, because I had to make a choice between his track team or Mr. John Mullins."

When her children became a bit older, Darlene started a career in retail and cosmetology. Her husband, John, also started his own advertising/marketing business after years of working in corporate and government organizations and it turned out successful. In spite of Darlene's success in business, she felt the need to complete her education, so she decided to make it happen and John supported her fully.

"I love this woman so much and always told her whenever you are ready we will go because this is something I knew she always wanted and I will do nothing to hold her back," John said.

In July 2013, the couple moved back to Nashville to allow Darlene to return to TSU and pursue a degree in interdisciplinary studies. At times, she took as many as 20 credit hours a semester, and maintained top grades. With the 25 credits she had accumulated before dropping out in 1963, Darlene is completing her college work in four years. A member of three honor societies, she is graduating summa cum laude. This May, Darlene will be among the more than 800 graduates at the undergraduate spring commencement in the William Jasper Hale Stadium on TSU’s main campus.

"My graduation from college, for me, confirms that I completed what I started more than 50 years ago,” Darlene said. “I am happy."

An 18-year-old boy identified as Jauan Durbin almost got disowned by is mother who discovered he wore makeup - The teenage boy however, got supported by some people online Jauan Durbin, an 18-year-old boy, almost lost his mother some days ago when the agitated woman came close to disowning him after discovering he has been wearing makeup.

The Morehouse College freshman shared with people a screenshot of the conversation he had with his mother. "I do not approve of this bullshyt," his mother wrote, while making reference to a photo of him, with his face fully made-up. "[What the hell] is wrong with you? I am so disappointed. You are a male. [Why the hell] do you have on eyelashes, eyebrows and makeup." "I'm completely done," she concluded. "OK," he responded.

While sharing the conversation with other social media users, the young man said he was going to live the truth. "This hurts. It really does. But I'm going to live my truth until the day I die."The post made by Durbin went viral almost immediately with many Twitter users retweeting it and making it their favorites.

Daily Newz gathered that the responses were mixed though as some praised him while others supported his mum and called him all sorts of names. The photos of the teenager were taken backstage of the Miss Maroon and White 2017 Pageant where he was assisting. His friend offered to do his makeup and the young man revealed that he has never had his makeup done that way. "I'm a model, but I had never worn a full face with lashes, it's only been minimal to be camera-ready," he said.

Excited about the outcome of the picture and the event, Durbin posted the picture and posted on Twitter. A screenshot of that was made by someone who sent it to his mum and the whole conversation started.

"I didn't post the original screenshot to put my mom out there, it was more so that I knew there were other people out there going through the same situation that I'm going through and many don't know if there's a way out of it," he said. "So I wanted to affirm them with my comments attached to the screenshot. That you should always live in your truth no matter if your parents don't agree with it.

You seek validation from your parents, you try to live up to their expectations, but sometimes their expectations are unrealistic." Ever since the episode with his mum, they have not spoken. He has gotten over two hundred direct messages from people ever since his photo went viral. The tons of support he is getting from people is lifting his spirit as he is hopeful that his mum would come round and understand someday.
